Beyond Westside Island was a land that was known as the War Lands; in the long destroyed ruins of the castle at the throne was a large bulky Mobian lion with a long white beard, red outfit and dark blue cape. He was known as Kodos who held the unofficial title of 'Warlord'; ruler of the War Lands with an iron fist.
The doors busted open and there was a group of Mobian soldiers entering being led by a large gorilla soldier; "I am Sergeant Simian and I challenge you to for the title of Warlordship!" Simian shouted and Kodos grinned as he got up and picked up his axe weapon.
"Been a while since someone actually reached my throne room to issue a challenge; your mutilated body shall join my trophy room along with the other corpses of those who thought that they could beat me and claim the title of Warlord!" Kodos as he lunged right in with with his axe with Simian fighting back hard with it going back and forth.
Soon Simian got from his pouch a Chaos Emerald which glowed in his hands; using it to increase his strength and got Kodos into a neck hold and then twisted his head until there was a snap. Simian stood up beating his chest victoriously as the guards then bowed before him as their new Warlord.
Then there was a blast from the shadows as there was a 16 year old brown furred wolf in a black and white outfit with a cape and high tech mask wielding a high tech blaster weapon. She then began firing at the soldiers as coming out was a 20 year old skunk Mobian wearing a dark purple uniform with a dark purple beret wielding a crossbow weapon.
Then flying in was a white furred 18 year old bat Mobian in a dark purple and black uniform with a heart logo on it; "A gal like me sure loves her jewels!" she said only to ended up being shot down by one of the soldiers and the skunk went to help her up as they winked and smirked at eachother.
However Simian then had the captain call the rest of the guards in along with more of Simian's forces to overwhelm the group. "The Kingdom of Acorn shall fall and I will rule over all in a new empire!" Simian shouted gloating lifting the Chaos Emerald up in the air.
In Mobotropolis; Sonic, Sally, Tails, Antoine and guards were gathered in a room to meet Elias who looked dead serious which was alarming to them; "Something the matter Elias? Is Robotnik doing something big?" Sally asked wanting to prepare for whatever was going on but Elias shook his head.
"Not this time; this is related to the War Lands." Elias said and there were wide eyes as they had learned about it; especially Sally in her lessons. "Once a prosperous kingdom but the royal family were wiped out in a mysterious attack long ago and the country fell apart as arguments and fights broke out over who should take over. Now it's a lawless land governed by survival of the fittest; ruled by the title of Warlord where the rules are that anyone who can make it to the Warlord can challenge to a duel for the title. For the longest time the former captain of the guard Kodos was the Warlord but has been dethroned by..." Elias explained as he put down a wanted poster for Sergeant Simian.
"Sergeant Simian; a former soldier for our kingdom's military with big bloodlust who went rogue following the end of the War taking with him the most sadistic soldiers who didn't like the idea of there being no more war. They existed as a mercenary group but recently they ransacked a tomb and found a Chaos Emerald which Simian used to win the Warlordship of the War Lands." Elias explained with them being alarmed.
"So you want us to go to the War Lands, kick Simian's butt and get the Chaos Emerald back?" Sonic asked and Elias shook his head.
"Not all as it's also a rescue mission; Geoffrey St John the leader of our Secret Service and his team were first sent in to retrieve the Emerald stop Simian but they failed and were captured. Along with his team is Whisper the young scout and Rouge a stealthy thief who has agreed to help out in a program to lessen her sentence; Geoffrey himself has quite a record of impressive skills and successful missions. His father was the previous head of the Secret Service; had him under his wing when Geoffrey joined the Service at only 8." Elias said with their eyes widening.
"He was only 8 years old when he was a secret agent?" Tails asked bewildered and Elias raised an eyebrow.
"Unbelievable as it is; you all are technically field agents for the Kingdom at your young ages." Elias pointed out and it was hard to argue against.
"Sergeant Simian stands no chance against the son of Captain D'Coolete himself!" Antoine said striking a pose with his sword as there were eyes rolled at this.
"One more thing Sally... Be careful when around Geoffrey; despite his young age he has quite a reputation as a womaniser... I don't want to think if he would creep on a teenager but just to be on the safe side..." Elias sighed and Sally was alarmed.
"I will keep that in mind Elias, thanks..." Sally muttered as they went to work.
Flying overhead to the War Lands was the Tornado plane that Tails had gotten working and was now piloting with Sally and Antoine in the passenger seats and Sonic decided to stand on the wing; posing and enjoying the air in his face. They landed down and found themselves at a prisoner camp where there were warriors with spears fighting the guards and trying to free prisoners who were being used as slave labour.
"I think we have found what we will need to do first!" Sally said seriously as she got out her wrist blades and the group went in to help warriors doing the escape attempt. Tails went to work blasting at the cells and doors to let the prisoners out as Antoine helped with evacuating with Sonic and Sally helping to fight against the soldiers of the camp.
Soon the camp was freed and grateful prisoners cheered with the camp's staff rounded up; "Sonic the Hedgehog; to see proof that you are real in the flesh and you live up to the stories!" remarked a 16 year old wolf Mobian warrior with dark blue hair wearing a light blue warrior dress with golden bracelets and a golden necklace. "I am Lupe the chief of the Wolf Pack; ever since Kodos had my father killed we have been forced to act as a resistance force. I take it that you are here because we have traded one tyrant for another?" she asked as Sonic nodded with a grin.
"I am Princess Sally and we are here to help; I can't imagine what it must be like in the War Lands..." Sally greeted and Lupe sighed shaking her head.
"Finding those who belief in our cause of compassion and looking out for others is hard as the law of the land here is that if you are not the strongest then the choices are fall in line or suffer the consequences. The mere act of speaking out can land you in a place like this and though I wish we had assistance earlier; I am grateful for the help now." Lupe said and Sally looked down with a guilty sigh. "Anyway; we can show you back to our base..." Lupe said as she motioned for the Wolf Pack's new allies and those freed to follow them back to their base.
In the Wolf Pack's hideout Lupe was going over battle plans with Sally with a stolen map of the castle ruins as Sonic was making poses and faces for the orphaned children that was taking refuge in the hideout. "Sonic's story has spread throughout Mobius in the short time he has made a name for himself and the kids started imagining that one day Sonic would come to save the War Lands. Now the day has come; it is now a source of moral that our people desperately needed. Gives us belief that we actually have a chance finally." Lupe said with a smile as Sally smiled with her as they watched as Tails joined in playing with the children.
One of the Wolf Pack members came and addressed everyone saying "before we continue; it is tradition to ask if someone would live to challenge Chief Lupe..." Lupe got her spear ready making a pose as Sonic came forward.
"A chance to see what you have got Lupe? I am in..." Sonic said to eyes widening from everyone including Lupe and Sally was telling Sonic to stand down but the member ended up saying that the challenge was registered.
There was a sparring ring as Lupe looked at Sonic determined and it began with Lupe being quick with her reflexes and spear; fierce with her attacks and Sonic was deciding to give her a chance by taking it slow but a few Spin Dashes and Lupe was down to the floor and the contest was called. Lupe was surprised but there was Sonic holding out his hand to help out saying "don't feel bad Lupe as you did great; I probably would have lost if I didn't have my power..."
Lupe then shocked him and the Kingdom of Acorn guests as Lupe took his face to give him a kiss on the lips; "Consider this a reward for beating the Chief in this duel. Hope you enjoyed it as much as me; plus that you show this power when we charge to take back the War Lands." Lupe told Sonic with a smile.
"I hope that your showboating was worth it Sonic... Sonic?" Sally asked Sonic going up to him with a glare but nodded that he was frozen in place. "Sonic; what's the matter? You look like you hadn't kissed a girl before... Wait... Was that your first kiss?" Sally asked perplexed but it turned to realisation but his cheeks turning red gave Sally her answered and Sally giggled behind her hand and Antoine full on laughed while Sonic gave a glare to them.
Simian was interrogating the captured spies from the Kingdom of Acorn in the dungeons; "You might as well surrender to the winning team! The Kingdom of Acorn shall fall before my fists; I won't make the mistakes of the hairless apes as I go to war with my Chaos Emerald!" Simian told Geoffrey with a gloating voice but Geoffrey shook his head.
"How short sighted are you? The Kingdom of Acorn has experience and not only that but they already are fully united with 3 Chaos Emeralds to your 1! How do you look through these odds and see a certain victory for you? Is this why you were just a soldier and not a commanding officer?" Geoffrey retorted as Simian got furious.
"Warlord Simian sir! The Wolf Pack are invading the castle and they have Sonic the Hedgehog with them!" one of the soldiers shouted coming in and Simian then left but not before a glare directed at the dungeons.
Soon Sally and Wolf Pack members along with Antoine arrived and Sally used her wrist blades to cut open the bars to let them and the other prisoners out. "Thank you..." Whisper the wolf whispered as Geoffrey went and got Sally's hand.
"A pleasure to meet your acquittance Princess Sally." Geoffrey said with a flirtatious look and Sally grimaced as Elias wasn't kidding about them. They then went and joined the others who were fighting Simian and his soldiers; "Sonic the Hedgehog... The loudmouth delinquent being hailed as a hero... Yet I get no such recognition for how much I do to keep the peace behind the scenes in the secret service! Plus endangering that kid with the two tails?" Geoffrey grunted as this got a look from Tails and a glare from Sonic who went up to him and pushed him back.
"I can handle a clown mouthing off about me but watch what you say about Tails especially since he was about your age when you were in the Secret Service!" Sonic told him with a glare as he went back to fighting the soldiers along with Lupe and her spear causing Geoffrey to silently rant about classified information.
Sonic then got to Simian and shouted "Yo Simian; how about I challenge you for your Warlordship right now? 1 on 1; come on... Are you a coward?" Sonic's taunt enraged Simian and he knew that he couldn't look bad in front of his troops. He went to the hiding spot where he put the Chaos Emerald but his eyes widened as he found it missing.
Where was it?
Thinking he was strong enough to take on Sonic he yelled his acceptance and lunged at Sonic who easily sidestepped him and taunted him as he just kept dodging with Simian attacking in his angered state; soon he was tired out and a good Spin Dash to the gut knocked him out and called Sonic the winner of this duel. "Yo; as Warlord I order all you goons to surrender!" Sonic yelled out and the guards who had before worked for Kodos went on their knees in surrender and the scared soldiers of Simian soon followed.
They were rounded up by the Wolf Pack as Geoffrey went up to Sally, "Princess Sally; in celebration of this victory how about we get to really know eachother..." Geoffrey asked with a flirty smile as he then yelled as he held his foot after Sally stood on it and then was slapped on the cheek by a glaring Sally to cheering from Sonic, Tails and Antoine.
"Well Geoffrey; I don't think the time is right to point out that the Chaos Emerald isn't here... Apparently a soldier went AWOL with it when you all attacked." Rouge said with a shake of her head causing groans.
"Well this might not be a total victory then but the day is saved and we can worry about this missing Emerald another time. Is it time to go home or should we have a party to celebrate?" Sonic brought up but Lupe came up to him.
"I hope you understand that the people here will look to you as the new leader as you are now the Warlord? You could do good with your reputation." Lupe told Sonic but he shook his head.
"Thanks but I am needed elsewhere; Robotnik is out there and my home is on Westside Island. Besides there is no better leader to fix the War Lands than you Lupe so how about I give you Warlordship?" Sonic answered taking Lupe's hand and she was surprised but nodded.
"I love the idea Sonic but I don't think that you can just give the Warlordship away; I think that she would have to beat you for it..." Tails pointed out but Lupe smiled.
"Actually he can young Tails; the Warlord is perfectly within his rights to pass the title onto his spouse." Lupe explained as their eyes widened. "There wasn't a chance to explain to you but challenging the unmarried Chief of the Wolf Pack means fighting for the right to claim their hand in marriage. That kiss was to cement us as husband and wife. I shall let you go my husband and I will allow you not to be held down by just the one spouse if your heart finds another." Lupe explained as Sonic was open mouthed and the rest were shocked but Antoine was full blown laughing.
"Sal; can you please let this stay within here? No bringing it up please on the plane ride back home?" Sonic pleaded with Sally but groaned as she smirked and shook her head.
A purple furred coyote soldier with a brown hat by the name of Nack had been a soldier under Simian's command when they were in the Kingdom of Acorn's military and it was thanks to Nack's treasure hunting skilled that they found the Chaos Emerald in the first place but off course he didn't get the credit or reward that he deserved. So when he found out that Sonic was helping the Wolf Pack in their invasion of the castle; well he could tell this was a lost cause and quickly swiped the Emerald and left.
He made it far enough when he found himself surrounded by Badniks and Robotnik in his Eggmobile. "Nice Emerald; I have been unlucky in getting one but it seems that today is the day that I get to fix that!" Robotnik grinned but Nack nervously went on his knees.
"How about we make a deal: I can hire out my services and you can get this Emerald? It was thanks to me that Simian got it in the first place and I might help you find all the others? I wasn't loyal to any idea of conquest that he had but I was just looking for payments..." Nack pleaded as he held out his hands with the Emerald there.
"So a bounty hunter on my payroll? I will need to give you ways to communicate and you must call back frequently on progress for any mission that I give you. Can't deny your potential usefulness but right now I don't want to deal with the hassle of bringing you back to base as my lead minion really doesn't like you animal people but welcome to the Eggman Empire!" Robotnik told him as he floated down to claim the Chaos Emerald and Nack was happy to be spared this time by his new master.
Geoffrey groaned as he got back to his place of residence at the palace in Mobotropolis; feeling humiliated by the young Princess and he wasn't in the mood to celebrate a successful mission with Rouge for the night. He looked in the mirror and shook his head; if only the Princess knew of the secrets he was hiding for the greater good for the Kingdom. Secrets dating back to her father King Maximillian that not even her brother King Elias was aware of.
Dark secrets about the Kingdom that could spell trouble if revealed...
Sigh... Just like my previous attempt at a Sonic reboot story; this will not be kind to Geoffrey St. John and I ask any fans of his to keep an open mind or just not read. Sorry but I won't disrespect or harass any fans but on my Sonic 3 story on AO3 I had this argument with an anon reviewer which I ended up deleting as this isn't something I will relent on just like I don't want to use Amy as someone whose not a fan of her or Sonamy and I do respect the opinions of her fans and Sonamy shippers as long as they respect mine. Being forced to use her will just end up with a version that will anger her fans.
Geoffrey here is using the look from the Lara-Su Chronicles as I actually do like this look; even if the comic's art certainly doesn't help it. Plus Rouge gets her popular Sonic Prime outfit.
