Void Reader: I don't think I needed to clarify before since they are clearly listed as pairing in the character tag but yes Sonally is a pairing and please go back to previous chapters as I have had hints and not just going to rush them into it. Not the only pairing for those 2 (trust me I have no plans to just break up Sally and Nicole just to put Sally and Sonic together. Plus while i can get no wanting to go into a story because you don't like a pairing; them not getting together won't break the story.
Mobius thousands of years in it's past was mostly ruled by the Echidna Empire but they had recently gone to war with the land occupied out of their control. During this war Mobius was invaded by a technologically advanced race from beyond the stars; an echidna island was no match for these invaders who were taken on by the Order that ruled over the land not claimed by the Echidna Empire. Said Empire retreated for the moment waiting for both forces to finish eachother off and they would destroy the survivors.
However the Order of Ixis as they were known practiced magic created from Chaos Energy and were quite formidabble; much more than the alien invaders who expected a quick and easy conquest over a technologically inferior world had anticipated.
The remaining of the alien forces descended upon the home island of the Order; the Order wizards using their magical powers well against the invaders. Among the Order were descendants of the mammoth tribe that was the earliest form of the Order.
Serving as generals were the 3 most powerful servants of the Order who were elemental wizards: Agunus the rhino who was the master of earth magic, Suguna the lobster who was the master of water magic and Nusgau the bat who served as the master of wind magic.
However while these 3 wizards were formiddable; they pale in comparison to the Order's leader and founder who was personally leading this fight. Mogul a massive mammoth wearing gold armor over the Chaos Emerald embedded into his belly button, red cape and he held axe weapons fitting as his origin as a tribe hunter. His magic enfusing the axes with Chaos energy and he was able to easily able to tear through aliens' strongest weapons and armor several at a time. Having already been alive for hundreds of years at this point; he had mastered fighting and the Ixis magic that he had created.
The Order looked to them as their ruler and god and from how he fought; it looked like he could have won this battle all on his own. All what was left were the largest and strongest warriors of the alien invaders and they soon fell as well with his Order bowing before them.
"Invaders from the sky and while the Echidnas fled; we have fought and beaten them! This shows our superiority and that I have the power and cunning to protect Mobius from all threats. The so called Echidna Empire claimed to be mighty warriors and have claimed rulership of Mobius and yet they fled while I fought on... This will show that we will win and once we storm Albion; I shall behead the Echidna Emperor and claim his skull as my trophy as I shall reign supreme as Master Mogul the immortal savior and ruler of all of Mobius!" Mogul shouted to his Order as they began chanting his name.
Once they had time the 3 generals of the Order sneaked away and they looked to a powerful gemstone that they had found; probably came to Mobius along with the Chaos Emeralds. It was orange with a red spiral in it; they used it to bring up a portal to an empty dimension that they had decided to call 'the Void'.
"Sucking up to that false god for all of our lives; hogging all that power for so long! We are supposed to let him rule over Mobius once the Order takes over?" scoffed Agunus.
"Won't have to suck up to him for long for once Mogul has finished off that Echidna Empire; we shall banish our dear 'master' to this Void with this Warp Topaz with him trapped forever once we close the portal." reminded Suguna.
"Then Mobius shall be ours; a 3rd of Mobius split between us to rule and 2 Chaos Emeralds each." Nusgau finished as they all nodded at once but each had the intention of betrayal.
After a gruelling war came the final day of the war between the Echidna Empire and the Order of Ixis with each troops depleted as it raged on Albion; the 3 general wizards were watching in the damaged temple of the island watching as Mogul fought against the red furred greatest warrior of the Echidna; the young 16 year old Knuckles with his mutated spiked fists behind white gloves and a white patch on his chest.
Knuckles' father Locke the guardian of the Emeralds with his brown robes and white goatee was casting a special enfusing his son with power from the Chaos Emeralds. They looked as Locke was sacrificing his physcal form to place his spirit in the Chaos energy to send to his son. "Be prepared to be forced within your own Emerald: Mogul!" Locke shouted as Knuckles looked solemn having been told of this plan by his father Locke as the preperations for this fight and how his father must make this sacrifice for the Echidna Empire.
Locke led the attack his spirit enfused with Chaos energy and attacked Mogul with him feeling pulled into his own Emerald. The three generals smirked as they were in position to claim the Chaos Emeralds and banish Knuckles once they banish their master plus with an extra Chaos Emerald free for them to use as a bonus.
"No! I shall not be defeated; if I fall then so shall the Echidna! My power is so great I can force this island into the sky..." Mogul ranted using his magic to concentrate on the island with them feeling the ground shaking.
Mogul was pulled into the Emerald along with Locke's spirit and the three wizards were putting their Ixis magic into the Warp Topaz and the spell and Chaos Emeralds energy interfered with eachother. The Warp Topaz interacting with the Chaos Emeralds ended up creating a massive portal that sucked the pulled into the sky island through the portal as the frantic 3 wizards fought over the Warp Topaz and ended up having the Chaos Emeralds all pulled into 6 different portals scattering them all over Mobius.
Knuckles grabbed the Emerald that Mogul had posessed and was about to fight the 3 remaining Ixis wizards as they fought over the Topaz but the Chaos energy zapped them with the spell that Locke used on himself and they ended up being pulled into a portal together with the Warp Topaz.
The portal led to the barren home of the Order of Ixis as the Warp Topaz landed on the ground as the 3 treacherous wizards had their physical forms mostly destroyed but formed into one hybrid being. Their bodies becoming one and so did their minds; this being having all of their memories and personalities merged into one but feeling very weak.
The last of the Ixis wizards grew old alone in his home and he found a way to put himself into a great magical sleep; to be awakened when he would be found by someone that could help him reclaim full power so he could go about the ambition of ruling Mobius that was shared by all 3 of his past lives. This being having claimed a new name for himself:
Naugus.
I admit that I wanted to get something out for that author's note but also consider this a hint of things to come; remember Robotnik explaining that after his first humiliating defeat by Sonic, he was able to find an abandoned spaceship which he used to help him start over from scratch until the present day events of the story. This alien species in the chapter was the same one where the spaceship came from and I assure you that they will come into play later as well. Plus Mogul defeating the alien invaders is inspired by the backstory of Vandal Savage beating Starro and leading the defence against Darkseid's first invasion of Earth in the backstory of Young Justice (I have a lot of issues with the show even from the beginning, feeling it was highly overrated and the first 2 seasons Savage and the Light were just boring shadow council villains who always somehow didn't suffer much from the few losses that they had).
