The next day Sally in her royal dress was just done with her lessons for the day and was excused by her tutor; she managed to force herself off her seat and started wandering the halls. She had a lot on her mind about the revelations of her father and was still finding it hard to grasp it all.
She wanted to get a lot of things off her chest and thought of Nicole her girlfriend and Sonic and her other friends; they would off course be more than willing to lend their shoulder as she poured her heart out but she wanted someone who could understand the levels of hurt and betrayal that she felt about all this.
She realised there was only one other person who could understand how she was feelign and it was someone who was probably going through the same:
Her brother Elias.
She made her way to the doors of the throne room and the guards kneeled before her and opened the doors to let Sally enter; she rolled her eyes as while being used to this treatment all her life, she never quite liked it. She watched as Elias and the guards noticed her with Elias on his throne as usual.
"Sally... Something that you want to bring up?" Elias asked raising an eyebrow as Sally took a deep big sigh.
"Elias... Can we talk... Just the two of us please?" Sally asked and Elias nodded and excused the guards present along with the advisor there; the acting Captain of the guard bowed before her as he was passing. Sally went closer to Elias on the throne and said "sorry but... We never really talked about it just the two of us... But what we learned about father..." Sally admitted wiping away a tear in her eye that was forming.
Elias sighed as he picked up the crown from his head and put it on the arms of his throne as he went up to Sally and embraced her. "I have been holding it in myself... Trying to be strong but... It hurts... Just like it's hurting you; I bet... Knowing this..." Elias admitted wiping away his own tears as Sally returned the embrace. After they let go Elias sighed and said "You know I have been thinking... I always wanted to think of the best of father; remembering that I was there when he... I couldn't help but wonder if the signs of this darker more unethical side of him and his decision making were there but we were just too young to really notice or understand and the tragedy of his death... If we have been looking through our memories through the rose tented lenses of children..." Elias admitted and Sally knew that it was a good point.
"I guess... He was always firm and serious... He never liked us calling to him and father and I remembr all the times he would interupt us playing together so he could give you your royal lessons... Asking for more time would be treated as just wasting time... Still from that how could we have guessed..." Sally brought up with Elias silent for a minute.
"I spent so long idolising his memory... I will always be grateful for what he had taught me and how I always felt guilty that I ended up taking most of the credit for the plan that father started to turn the tide of the War in our favor... A part of me will always love him and is grateful for how he helped me but... I can't help but be angry with him and unable to forgive his atrocities; not my place to forgive any of what he had done... Desperation or not..." Elias told her and Sally nodded along with it as there was silence again.
"I don't know how he would explain things or if any excuse would ever be satisfactory... Just up to everyone to look at him and what he had done so that they can draw their own conclusions." Sally said with Elias smiling in agreement. "Thanks for letting us have this talk Elias..." Sally told him gratefully with a smile that he returned.
"No problem at all and just remember that you can come to me at any time; king and princess or not, you're still my sister and I'm still your brother." Elias reminded her as they waved to eachother as then took her leave.
Something that I had written as I had realised that Sally and Elias have mostly interacted with eachother in the story when the group itself is meeting with Elias. Elias has actually bonded more with Sonic in the 2nd chapter than he has with his actual younger sister in the entire story.
