"Soon... I shall have this mastered once more and find out how to connect to the Twilight Zone to finally free my brothers after all this time... How more advanced would they be after being stuck in there for so long..." Zachary spoke in a special lab in Robotnik's lair as he was studying the Warp Topaz and documenting his findings. Starline with his arms folded was watching with a glare from across the room.
"Is this session finished for I was promised use of the Warp Topaz when you are not studying it." Starline carefully asked hating how he had to pick what he said towards Zachary in regards to the Warp Topaz as he had shown that he was not keen on Starline being the ultimate authority in the lair and treating Zachary as subservient to him. Unfortunately it was an arrangement that he was forced to go along with for now; Zachary was much stronger and the weapons he had been designing were not properly tested yet and he couldn't afford any mistakes.
"Indeed; do be careful Dr Starline. We don't want your inexperienced mind making a huge error with it." Zachary told Starline with a nod and Starline hated the tone of which he talked to him as well as his odds. Nonetheless Zachary let Starline take it as he went to where the latest batch of Badniks were ready to be sent out for an attack.
After sending them through a portal; he got an alert from the systems and looked and saw that it was coming from the radar connected to drones that he had sent out which picked up an energy signature. "I could activate a new batch of Badniks to investigate or... I could send Bean & Bark and they would get a chance to prove themselves useful for a change..." Starline spoke wondering what this energy signature could be.
Sonic and co were aboard the Tornado as Tails was flying them right over Central City in the United Federation where there were explosions with civilians screaming and running away from Badniks while GUN officers and officials . "Gave to give Starline this; certainly a different strategy attacking the United Federation than just focusing on our Kingdom for his random Badnik attacks than what Robotnik did." Sonic commented upon his usual spot on the plane's wing.
"Could just be that wherever his base is; it was much closer to the Kingdom and he wasn't able to send a lot of Badniks to attacking his old home nation than he was the Kingdom. Plus a bit more personal to settle his grudge with you and the Kingdom for humiliating him." Tails pointed out thinking logically.
"With the Warp Topaz now; Starline probably has realised that he could send Badniks wherever he wants to attack now." Antoine commented looking afraid of the notion.
"Still; we are here to help out our allied nation's cry for help from those trying to continue Robotnik's work. We will need to work out a plan..." Sally started to say only to notice that Sonic was already jumping down from the wing of the boyfriend. "Or you could just do that..." Sally sighed sarcastically shaking her head at her boyfriend as she got Tails to get them closer to the ground.
Sonic went to attacking the nearest Badnik and then found a family ducking for cover from debris but Sonic then pushed them and got them out of the way. "Sonic the Hedgehog!" one of the kids gasped as they all looked at him in awe and he grinned and gave them a thumbs up as he went back to work fighting the Badniks.
There were the team helping out; "Everyone... I see more robots coming our way but I think that they are on our side..." Nicole pointed out and they stopped their attack to notice the oncoming robots arriving with more GUN troops; they looked like different coloured E-Series robots (much to Sonic's displeasure) but with the GUN logo as well as vehicles that had legs and special cannons on them.
They were helping to fight the Badniks and were shocked by this but no time to dwindle on this as they had to focus on the fight at hand. "Huh... Look!" Tails spoke noticing a black and red blur figure coming in and attacking the Badniks.
"Looks like Commander Angeline let him be out in public now..." muttered a GUN officer as he made himself known with it being noticed as Shadow with a stern look as he now looked to be Sonic's age with their eyes widening.
"Another fast hedgehog? Glad you are on our side!" Sonic commented giving a thumbs up to Shadow as Shadow turned to the officers.
"Focus on rescuing and getting civilians to safety; the special forces, Sonic's team and I will take care of the Badniks." Shadow ordered the GUN officers who saluted.
"Loud and clear Agent Shadow!" spoke one of them as they started getting people to safety allowing Sonic's team, Shadow and the GUN robots to take care of the remaining Badniks. Soon they were done away with; the human civilians noticing that the danger had passed and cheered for Sonic and his team with Sonic giving a pose.
"Yeah take in the applause as you made a big show of entering." Sally sighed shaking her head as Sonic gave her and everyone a grin.
"Where did GUN get these robots?" Tails asked taking a closer look at one of them along with Nicole.
"After helping to clean up after the battle where Robotnik was arrested with the destruction of his giant mecha and Badnik army; the United Federation decided to make use of the broken bits of Robotnik tech along with plans for the E-Series from the defunct Eggman Industries. You see the GUN Hunters and the tech was also used to create specialised vehicles; defence for an invasion on our territory or to be prepared for if Robotnik escapes." Shadow explained coming up to them.
"Well I guess not letting the junk go to waste but nice moves out there... Agent Shadow is it? How did you get so fast?" Sonic decided to ask as Shadow sighed.
"I was created to be the Ultimate Lifeform; a project during the War to create the ultimate living weapon to be cloned for an army when created. The project was continued by renegades after the War ended. All I knew at first was violence as they kept having me sent out against their prototype to be killed and reborn until I could finally finish it off myself." Shadow explained as their eyes widened and their mouths were wide open.
"That's horrible! Charlemagne really signed off on that? He was really a monster..." Tails muttered freaked out.
"Indeed; not that our side's hands were clean during the War as we found out..." sighed Sally.
"Sorry you had to go through that but hey; I would love to have you as a new buddy!" Sonic spoke and gave a smile and a fist bump motion as Shadow just stared at him. "Don't be like that and leave me hanging..." Sonic spoke as more GUN agents came flanking Commander Maria Angeline.
"GUN Commander Maria Angeline!" Sally spoke taking Maria's hand to shake.
"An honor Princess getting to finally meet all of you including the legendary Sonic the Hedgehog." Maria smiled as Sonic grinned and gave a bow. "Yeah I told Shadow it was alright to let you all knew when he finally got to meet you all. I took him in after Project: Shadow was raided; led the mission myself." Maria explained.
""Been studying what clips I could get of you to prepare for this meeting. Project: Shadow used one of your quills when regenerating me into the form you see in front of you so glad we can finally meet brother." Shadow explained to Sonic whose eyes widened along with the rest of his friends/team.
"Never expected this but again nice to meet you... Bro..." Sonic muttered wiping away a tear; being so long without a family and now he had Tails as like a brother and now another one.
Back at Robotnik's lair Starline had gotten the message from Bean & Bark that they had found the source of the energy reading and it was someone asleep? Starline nonetheless opened up the portal for them to return with Bark carrying the body and Starline showing them the chamber to put the the body in.
Starline's eyes widened as he saw that it was in a near coma like state the mutated body of Geoffrey St. John. "Geoffrey St. John the former head of the Kingdom of Acorn's Secret Service... Last I heard; you were presumed dead and given the Mark of Shame by your king... What exactly happened to make you like this and give off the energy readings..." Starline muttered in shock as he had the chamber closed and started scanning him but grinned as he saw the readings for the magical energy that was in his body. He could use this.
Naugus smirked to himself inside the head as he was able to use his Ixis Magic to make his new vessel appear to be in a coma like state when he saw Bean & Bark coming; ready to reawaken at a moment's notice.
"Mark of Shame? What... No... They wouldn't dare... After all I sweat and bled for the Kingdom..." the mind of Geoffrey screamed as a helpless prisoner inside his own head.
I saw the new Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie and it was a lot of fun and I plan to have this posted before I see the Mario movie opening day and I am so excited!
Plus I recently bought on the Playstation store Ghost 'n Goblins Resurrection which I find alright as I am playing on the easiest session which I suggest most of you do if you want ANY chance whatsoever of getting very far in the game as I am not the hardcore of hardcore of hard side scrolling games (the tutorial of Cuphead is all that I can complete on the game) that you are required to be in order to progress. Plus I really like the look of the game despite Honest Trailers being highly critical of the artstyle. Plus pro tip: DO NOT play this right after playing Sonic Mania which is what I did after the download of GnG R was complete and the slowness of the gameplay will be especially noticable if you play them back to back. But all means still do play Sonic Mania as it is by far a superior game.
