It was a bright sunny day at the Green Hill Zone; Sonic was going about his morning run around the area but with a special anklet device made by Tails to monitor his speed. Sonic finished his run and went to the area where Tails and Nicole where by a machine that they had put together to put together the readings; "So how did I do guys?" Sonic asked giving them a wave as he went in close and Tails looked excited as he glanced at the results.
"This is your fastest time yet!" Tails beamed up at his best friend and older brother figure with Sonic giving himself a confident smirk. Sonic went and gave him a high five and then another to Nicole.
"I wonder how fast my brother Shadow could go? Should I invite him over and challenge him to a race?" Sonic pondered thinking about how exciting that it was to have a brother by blood which Shadow technically was.
"If he had time being a GUN field agent and all. Plus let's see if he has enough DNA to want to be a show off like my main hedgehog." Nicole laughed as Sonic smiled at her.
"That's great but it would be nice if you would be quieter... You are scaring the fish away!" Thrash yelled from his spot where he was fishing by the waterfall in the area. The three then blinked at the Tasmanian Devil who had been all bloodthirsty and yet it had come to him joining Sonic and Tails as an unexpected new neighbour in Green Hill Zone and was content to spend most of his time now fishing.
"You sure that you are okay just fishing Thrash? I know that the years had been tough and I wouldn't blame you for wanting to kick back but Zachary is loose and I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to make sure that he was locked up again by joining us!" Sonic decided to ask but Thrash growled out.
"Zachary has already taken so much from me and I won't let him cloud my mind and stop me from living my life! Just tell me whenever he decides to show his half metal face again and I will help pulverise him; until then my vengeance shall start by making sure that he failed to ruin me forever!" Thrash retorted and it was all surprising and mature of him.
"Wow; not letting obsession and revenge take over his life... Robotnik had spent a decade obsessed with me after I humiliated him and I don't know what I would do if I grew up knowing that after all he had done and taken from me that he was still out there alive." Sonic muttered thinking it over but then Nicole jumped.
"I am getting a message from Sally; Warlord Lupe of the War Lands has arrived and said that she has urgent business. Said that you are needed Sonic." Nicole spoke and Sonic looked alarmed along with Tails but Sonic then looked down to business.
"I heard that isn't she your wife Sonic? How do you feel about your girlfriend possibly talking to your wife alone?" Thrash asked smirking as Nicole snickered behind her hand and Sonic glared at him turning his head over to him.
"Right now; I liked you better when you were trying to kill us all!" Sonic retorted back to him as he then left along with Tails and Nicole.
"Oh; I remember Sally telling me all about this." Nicole had snickered.
At Robotnik's lair; Starline was having an army of Badniks set up along with modifications that allowed them to draw in power and energy from the pod where he had placed Geoffrey's body in so that he could use the body as a living battery. "The time I spent researching the great Dr Robotnik's earlier resource in using living beings as power sources have been greatly expanded upon thanks to me! A Badnik army powered by this magical energy and the reports showed that Sonic and his allies had struggled when up against the magic of that wizard Naugus!" Starline grinned to himself as he got the Warp Topaz ready to transport them.
"I shall have you sent to the floating island of Albion; while Mobotropolis would be more secure and their 6 Chaos Emeralds more closely guarded... The Badniks should be able to be more than a match for Knuckles or at least keep him distracted so that his Chaos Emerald could be claimed!" Starline grinned as he had a portal opening up but then saw that the Badniks turning to face him to his confusion. "What are you doing? I didn't give you commands yet..." Starline demanded but then they started attacking him to his confusion destroying the area and he ended up falling to the chamber where he was keeping Geoffrey's body.
It bursted open and Geoffrey's eyes opened up and he grinned as he then snatched the glove with the Warp Topaz from Starline much to his shocked panic. "You talk too much but still; I have my Warp Topaz back so thanks for that along with the plan that I shall adopt myself as well as the metal golem army that I have put my essence to so that they will listen to me!" Geoffrey spoke with Naugus' voice with a dark grin as he then got to the portal and left with the Badniks.
Sonic, Tails and Nicole arrived to Mobotropolis and the palace where there were guards ready to show them to a meeting room where there was Lupe along with her own guards from the Wolf Pack in the War Lands. "Nice to see you again Lupe; so what is the stitch? Some other bad guy that you need help fighting in the War Lands?" Sonic asked greeting Lupe as she sighed with a smirk.
"Funny greeting to your wife after so long but still congratulations on you and Princess Sally getting together." Lupe replied and Sonic and Sally smiled at her. "But the business is nothing like that... You see it's not so easy trying to make a functional government out of a land which had spent a long time governed by the strong ruling over the week and still trying to revamp the rules of the Wolf Pack as I try to assemble everything together. It requires cooperation from the strongest groups in the War Lands and the title can only do so much if I want to change things. I am having trouble with my advisors and group leaders thinking that I am too soft and weak." Lupe stated and their eyes widened in confusion.
"How could that be? How do they think that you are weak?" Sally asked putting her jaw back up as Lupe sighed.
"Well I know that you can imagine Princess Sally that there are those in Mobius not liking the Kingdom of Acorn having all but 1 of the Chaos Emeralds in their possession. That they could use that power in a threatening manner." Lupe explained and Sally sadly nodded; reports of the nature about similar comments from officials around Mobius. "I am all for Sonic not to be tied down by us being married as per my Pack's laws and now the laws of the War Lands; but it looks like to dissenters that I am just letting the Acorn's Princess take my husband which looks like me bowing down to their power. I have concerns that a civil war or a coup could erupt; I have enough guards and supporters for now but this issue needs fixing." Lupe finished explaining as they took this in.
"So what? I am just supposed to dump Sally and move to the War Lands?" Sonic asked freaking out but Lupe shook her head.
"Off course not dear husband but I believe that I can make a case about having my time with you. A date every now and then to show that this marriage is real and make a case about forming a partnership with the Kingdom of Acorn which should help in my restructuring efforts." Lupe replied and Sonic was silent thinking it over. "Just say it if you find me unattractive..." Lupe sarcastically said but Sonic shook his head vigerously.
"Off course not; I see that you care about your people and fixing your land plus your tough and pretty. I have a thing for tough fighter royal women." Sonic assured her as Lupe and Sally smirked. "What do you think Sal?" Sonic asked looking towards Sally as she went and took Nicole's hand.
"I don't mind Sonic; you managing your time between me and Lupe. Just like I do with you and Nicole." Sally replied sharing a smile with Nicole.
"I guess that's settled... For our first date... Do you know how your parents dated?" Sonic decided to ask thinking that this could end up easier than expected.
"A sparring against many challengers and then eachother." Lupe explained and Sonic blinked thinking it over.
"How about this; Tails can take us to Albion and I am sure that Knuckles would be up for a sparring fight together as he looks like he would be that kind of guy plus him coming from the past and I think that after we saved his Chaos Emerald for him twice now means that he kinds of owe us now." Sonic suggested and Lupe beamed.
"This could be our honeymoon and it's to be held on the legendary island home of the lost Echidnas to spar with the last? If only father was here to see his son in law." Lupe said and Sonic as silently glad that he wasn't. While it was unfortunate that both his wife and girlfriend were orphaned; the less fathers in law he had to deal with the better in his head.
Robotnik's Lair and Bean & Bark were being made to help clean up the area as Zachary as furiously scanning the area while glaring at Starline. "You lost the Warp Topaz after your big plan backfired? Clearly letting you have use of it was a mistake! That Warp Topaz is the key to freeing my Brotherhood!" Zachary ranted as Starline glared at him.
"I am being proactive and coming up with actual plans that don't involve trying to find a dimension filled of echidnas who might not exist anymore after all this time!" Starline retorted growing more and more sick of this cyborg echidna. "Besides; I had a solid plan! How was I supposed to account for basically a corpse that I was using as a living battery coming back alive and able to highjack control of the Badniks away?" Starline demanded.
"You never thought to study the body more and try to determine how and why it was emitting that energy? I thought that you were supposed to be a scientist!" Zachary retorted back as Starline glared more harshly at him as Zachary saw that his readings were complete on the machine. Zachary was open mouthed and more furious; "Somehow this body was emitting Ixis energy... The magic used by the accursed Mogul and his followers... I will give you this Starline; when you screw up then you screw up royal!" Zachary harshly told him as he then began leaving.
"I am going to use a vessel to find my way to Albion the home of my people to see if there is a way to recover my Warp Topaz!" Zachary explained as Starline stood with his arms folded.
"If only Dr Robotnik was free; he would never put up with with Zachary's tone and attitude and he would have magnificent schemes brought up to implement..." sighed Starline shaking his head.
"...I am just saying that the whole 'claiming a spouse by beating them in combat' could be reworked as well... The ways that it would go bad... No offense to how it happened between us but I am kind of bad at trying to make my point..." Sonic said on his usual spot on the wing on the Tornado as Tails was piloting and Lupe in the passenger seat as Albion was coming up for them to land.
"The great Sonic the Hedgehog looking out for his future children..." smiled Lupe as Sonic was red in the face as he was definitely nowhere near ready to think about that...
"Uh... Guys... I am getting readings that there is Badniks activity..." Tails muttered looking at the scanners as Sonic muttered off course this would happen. Tails had them over the temple as he had it landed with Sonic going to fight the nearby Badniks with Lupe right behind him with her spear.
Tails got his blaster and drones ready to fight them as well but they seemed tougher than the last Badniks that they had to deal with. Sonic began jumping and attacking the air Badniks while marvelling at Lupe using her reflexes to fight valiantly against the Badniks, it was the same sensation that he felt watching Sally at work in a fight.
They then saw Knuckles being knocked their way as Lupe helped him up; "I wish it would be under better circumstances Knuckles but I am Warlord Lupe of the the War Lands. I have heard about you and I came here wishing to spar along with my husband Sonic but it seems that we came when you needed assistance." Lupe told Knuckles as he looked their way as Sonic and Tails smiled at him in between fighting the Badniks.
"Glad to formally meet you; you see these things attacked again and this time this wizard zombie skunk is leading them!" Knuckles explained much to their confusion but they then saw floating in the sky towards them was Geoffrey as their eyes widened.
"Geoffrey? You survived? How did you get all magical?" Sonic asked feeling surprised by this as Geoffrey laughed.
"Not quite for you see when we last fought eachother hedgehog; you all thought that I was done for... However I was able to steer my mind, spirit and power into the head of Geoffrey here dormant. I was biding my time but the explosion on Dr Zachary's ship... It left Geoffrey close to dead but I was able to take action and take control and fix the body enough for me to use. Playing dead that fool Starline found me and wanted to use me to power his machines but I took control and I now have the Warp Topaz back. Now the last of the Ixis shall take his place on the throne of Mobius!" Geoffrey explained showing the Warp Topaz as Sonic and Tails were open mouthed realising who this was.
"NAUGUS!" they yelled in shock.
Want to go over this now but funny enough for April Fool's day, Sega actually published that free story driven adventure game for computers called the Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog with the story being Amy's birthday and it's a murder mystery party on a train and you play as an OC new staff member helping to solve the mystery. As hilarious that for April Fool's Day that Sega would publish such a game with that title considering how protective they are of the Sonic IP in regards to how it's used, I completed the game and it's quite fun with the mystery being well executed, the characters are fun and their best official use in a long time if you ask me for most of them and it's a nice adventure game style that's like Ace Attorney or Danganronpa. The Dream Gear sections could be challenging but the settings allow you to nerf it if you can't beat it.
