Sonic and Lupe then began helping Knuckles to try and get close enough to Naugus to strike but he kept sending them back and attacking with different air, water and earth magic to send them away which included conjuring up boulders to send them away as well as strong telekinetic magic while Tails was trying to blast at .
"I must say that I'm not too keen on the vessel that this foe had taken; having heard the news of what he tried to keep hidden and how. It shall put a smile to my face once I thrust my spear through your vessel's body wizard!" Lupe shouted as tried to jump and charge only to be thrown away once more.
"It shall be hard for you to do with my Ixis magic!" Naugus laughed only to be surrounded by Tails holograms but he just blasted at the real Tails with him having to fly out of the way in fright with Sonic yelling in worry for his friend. "With my magic; I could see through your crude illusions..." Naugus laughed as Knuckles managed to jump and lunge at Naugus' back.
"You say that you are the last of the Ixis? My people and I darn near finished you off during the war and now I shall finish the job now!" Knuckles told Naugus only to be thrown off.
"I remember you echidna... During the final battle; my 3 previous lives were ready to strike with the Warp Topaz to have our dear master banished forever but it was messed up... The Chaos Emeralds had us merged into one and left in an immortal coma while you and your island was banished..." Naugus told him as Knuckles looked in shock and fury.
"You... You are the reason why my kind is lost and why I was lost all that time!" thundered Knuckles ready to try lunging at him but Naugus got out of the way and started going to the inside of the temple with Knuckles furiously running after him.
"Sorry for my brash friend here Lupe and this isn't quite how I imagined my honeymoon to turn out." Sonic told Lupe as they and Tails started following him as Lupe looked determined.
"No need to apologise as I know that I would be determined to avenge any loss against my people and personally; this is how I always imagined my honeymoon. Fighting side by side against a foe." Lupe answered as Sonic took this in.
They got to Naugus smirking as he was overlooking the island's Chaos Emerald and touching it but screamed in pain as something is happening. "This didn't happen when Robotnik was stealing it... Is it effecting his magic?" Knuckles pondered as they took this in.
"Is the Emerald going to take care of Naugus for us..." Tails asked as Sonic looked ready for what is going to happen.
"I unfortunately doubt that we will be that fortunate young fox..." sighed Lupe as Naugus looked their way with a glare as he held the Warp Topaz and the Chaos Emerald with one in each hands.
"The energy... I am back in control... I was a prisoner trapped in my own body..." Naugus said as Sonic and Tails groaned as they realised what was going on.
"Let me guess; Geoffrey is back in control of his own body. I honestly don't know who is worst..." Sonic glared as Geoffrey was furious.
"Don't you talk to me Sonic after all I have been through... I was almost dead and I had to deal with Naugus in control of my body as I was helpless to do anything but watch! This happened after I took the plunge to stop him from being a threat the first time; do you remember that? I was doing good for my kingdom and the world but how do I get rewarded for my service and for doing my duty? I heard that I got the Mark of Shame..." Geoffrey thundered as Sonic looked ready to smack him for that.
"You wanted to cover up Zachary's experiments that the former King funded and attacked us to keep it hidden! It included your own princess!" Tails yelled at him as Sonic nodded along with his words.
"Did you really think that the King would take kindly to what his dad did or you attacking his sister?" Sonic yelled at Geoffrey who got more mad.
"I was acting for the greater good but you the pure and noble fame hungry Sonic the Hedgehog... You get called a hero when you don't deserve to recognised as such; I am the one that was leading the dirty work needed to keep us all safe and only to get tossed aside when what the public were unable to understand gets revealed... I imagine being scorned after the true king's weak willed son gave me that Mark and listed all the dirty laundry... I always knew that he didn't have the stomach that his father did..." Geoffrey ranted as Sonic then went and Spin Dashed him causing him to drop the Emerald and Warp Topaz.
"Could you have done that earlier as listening to him speak was boring!" Knuckles said as they all charged at Geoffrey but he managed to grab the Chaos Emerald and used blasts to send them back. He glared at them as he got the Warp Topaz ready.
"I am going to open a portal to the Kingdom and make it big enough for this stupid island to follow through and crash into the sheep... What's left I shall transform it into the Kingdom that King Maximillian intended it to be... I shall retrieve the other 6 Emeralds and it shall be unstoppable..." Geoffrey ranted but yelled in pain as it seemed like Naugus was trying to reclaim control over the body.
There was a mocking clap and they saw Zachary enter through the hallways; "a half metal echidna... What even is today?" Knuckles yelled confused as Sonic and Tails glared at him.
"Honoured to meet you son of Locke; Dr Zachary at your service here to reclaim the Warp Topaz that Naugus stole from me." Zachary introduced as Knuckles' eyes widened.
"What? I heard of you but didn't you disappear along with the science caste?" Knuckles asked confused as Sonic went past him and got in Zachary's face.
"He survived as a cyborg Knuckles and was responsible for horrific experiments so he is not a friend..." Sonic warned him as Naugus and Geoffrey struggling to fight over the body but it caused his hands to clash with the Chaos Emerald and the Warp Topaz and a portal opened up and Sonic rushed to grab Tails, Lupe and then knuckles as he went to grab the falling Chaos Emerald as the portal was sucking them in.
Zachary screamed as he was sucked in along with the Warp Topaz and the damaged Geoffrey was trying to reach Sonic and the others as they glared at him. "You have to help me... Stay back unworthy vessel, this body is mine... No! I shall cast you out of my body and I shall have my justice... How can you stand against my powers..." Geoffrey said with his voice changing as the minds fought for dominance.
Lupe thrusted her spear through his body and Knuckles managed to use his free hand to punch him through the portal as it closed; "I have to admit... I almost feel pity for the no good skunk..." Sonic muttered shaking his head with a sigh.
"I owe you thanks again for helping me save the Emerald; good luck with your travels Sonic and co and good luck on your marriage and relationship with the Princess." Knuckles said as Lupe managed a smirk as Sonic just sighed.
"Still kicking us off after a team up; well I guess this is enough excitement for one honeymoon." Sonic retorted.
"So Geoffrey and Naugus is dead and gone for good along with Zachary." Tails asked Sonic pleadingly as Sonic put on a smile.
"I am confident in saying yet little buddy." Sonic answered as they began to leave with Lupe.
The more badly damaged body of Geoffrey landed in a dark near void dimension as he grunted in pain; "What? Where am I... What? No... We are 3 again..." yelled 3 different voices in his head as Geoffrey now had to contend with in the head having to share with the minds of Augunus, Suguna and Nusgau as the blast had separated the mind of Naugus into the 3 that were merged to form him. All 4 personalities fighting forever for control as the body was stuck in this dimension.
"No... This can't be right... No!" cried Starline looking over the computer on the data of the scanning that he had done as it seemed that the energy from Naugus had disappeared; it wouldn't be too bad to lose him as a resource but the energy off the Warp Topaz had disappeared as well losing that irreplaceable resource. "Zachary had better wish that he disappeared from what had happened..." Starline ranted in frustration.
"Cheer up boss; you still have us! I will be able to do plant and send bombs for any bomb related schemes that you have!" Bean tried to reassure Starline putting his hand on his shoulder as nearby Bark was flexing.
"Plus I can punch really good at whatever you need punching at..." Bark said as Starline got up angrily.
"The great Dr Robotnik must have have something stashed away that I can use to turn this all around..." Starline said vowing to live up to his role as the unofficial regent of the Eggman Empire. He shuddered to think what Robotnik would think of the failures that they had been dealing with...
Knuckles was putting the Chaos Emerald back on the podium; "Once again Sonic and his crew have proven themselves to be valued allies and perhaps friends..." Knuckles muttered but then the vision of Locke appeared.
"Don't be too distracted by such thoughts my son as remember your duty must always comes first before these people as their interests will ultimately not align with ours. You must always thinking of protecting the Emerald and our people. You should have worked harder to rescue Dr Zachary as his return and the reasons could be a big help in restoring the great Echidna Empire." Locke told Knuckles chidingly as Knuckles blinked.
"But father; they said that he committed horrible experiments..." Knuckles replied as Locke shook his head.
"Irrelevant as ultimately his usefulness to our goal will outweigh any crimes that he may have committed in the past. Still; I don't think that he is gone for good and so when he returns again... You would be good to listen to me Knuckles." Locke told him as Knuckles didn't look too sure.
Back at the palace; Sally, Nicole and Tails watched in amusement as Lupe had given Sonic a goodbye kiss as she waved to them and met her leave. "Until next time allies and especially you dear husband. May we smite more foes together." Lupe said putting in her parting words for now.
"So; things were more exciting than intended on the honeymoon... Naugus and Geoffrey emerged again..." Nicole pointed out as Sonic sighed.
"Yeah but they were lost in the Warp Topaz so I don't think that we will be seeing them again. With any lucky; they are both dead..." Sonic answered as Sally's eyes darkened at Geoffrey being brought up.
"Plus Zachary as well; I bet Thrash will be pleased that he isn't still out there. He can continue focusing on his fishing." beamed Tails as that looked like good news.
"Good riddance to bad rubbish as far as I am concerned." Sally said seriously and hardly anyone could disagree with her points. "But one more thing I feel like I must ask Sonic; who kisses better... Me your girlfriend or Lupe your wife?" Sally asked with a sly smirk as Tails covered his mouth and Nicole giggled.
"You're trying to tease me and rile me up by asking..." Sonic ranted shaking his head.
"Is it working though?" Sally asked the sly smirk not leaving her face.
"...A little bit..." Sonic replied as they looked on amused.
Zachary got up and found the Warp Topaz but noticed that the place he was in wasn't like Mobius; it was filled with black high tech buildings, the sky was twilight and he was stunned as he saw a massive statue dedicated to him. "I have done it... The Twilight Zone! I am here!" Zachary excitedly said out loud; rejoicing that he finally found his way back to his brothers after so long.
He was then surrounded by Mobians in black high tech full body armor with helmets with glowing light blue eyes and mouth visors; their helmets having robotic tendrils as they aimed blasters at him. "In the name of the Dark Legion; identify yourself as you are trespassing... Dr Zachary? Is that the Warp Topaz?" said one of the soldiers sternly but it turned to surprise as they looked at him and the Warp Topaz and were shocked.
"I knew the stories and tales that he would return but... Seeing is believing..." muttered one of them as they started kneeling to them.
"My brotherhood the Dark Legion..." Zachary smirked as they raised back up. "I must say that this place has become much more advanced in the forever since I left..." Zachary stated.
"Since you left sir; the place has come to be known as the Cyberdark Colony and we have been waiting for you to return and use the Warp Topaz to take us back to Mobius so that we can rejoin the mighty and mythical Echidna Empire." said another soldier as Zachary sighed sadly.
"Mythical is right; there is a lot to update you all on." Zachary said solemnly.
"We must take you to see the Grandmaster at once..." said another soldier as he then began following them thinking that this will be the beginning of a new era now that his plans could finally go forth.
Okay the Dark Legion in this use the armor of the Nocturnus Clan from Sonic: the Dark Brotherhood and the Cyberdark Colony is the name of the home that in this fic they made in the Twilight Zone; the name coming from the Legion's rename for the Lara-Su Chronicles.
