Outside the palace the guard were gathered along with Sonic and team along with Thrash and Shade on standby. "So... The Dark Legion in this Colony... Just how much forces do they have..." Antoine asked hesitatingly and Shade looked their way as they were on standby for any sign of the Dark Legion.
"The Dark Legion's military forces are in the thousands and highly trained disciplined." Shade answered and Antoine gulped in fear at the answer at this.
"Come on Ant; we should be able to handle an army of Echidnas with fancy armor..." Sonic told him assuringly but with an amused look on his face as he went to Antoine to pat him on the back.
"Sonic is right; we faced down Robotnik's massive robot and army when he had all 7 Chaos Emeralds. We should be able to take down the Dark Legion; especially Sonic!" Tails reminded him with a smile that showed that he was confident in his friend and Sonic smiled at his young friend.
"Should still be cautious you two; we also have this Enerjak to worry about..." Sally spoke looking quite concerned and Shade nodded at once.
"Indeed; at a young age in the Colonly we are told of the story of Enerjak in schools. Said to be the biggest threat ever faced by the Empire before we were separated. Not even matched by the invaders from the sky and only matched by the Order of Ixis." Shade spoke but Sonic looked confident.
"Still; remember that it was created by one of the Chaos Emeralds and we have all 6 and that should beat out his power if it comes to it." Sonic reminded them but the acting captain (as Captain Armand was still going through his punishment) said that King Elias said to be on alert as the security drones picked up a portal opening up and out coming attacking Dark Legion soldiers.
Antoine gulped and they were ready as the Captain called to start evacuating the citizens as Sonic and the team began going to go find the Dark Legion soldiers. They spotted them attacking with blade weapons and blasters and Sonic went on the attack Spin Dashing them. Tails was firing with his blaster and summoning drones to attack while Thrash was pummelling at the Dark Legion soldiers.
Shade was getting out blade weapons and began attacking her former comrades and was back to back with Sally who had her own wrist blades out. "You prefer blades as weapons as well Princess?" Shade asked Sally as they both shared a grin.
"Never thought that I could be on the field with someone using my fighting style!" Sally grinned as they continued fighting together.
Soon there was a soldier with an electric whip and Shade gasped; "Lien-Da the youngest commander of the Dark Legion that there has ever been; a no-nonsense and vicious fighter..." Shade muttered as Lien-Da began attacking Shade and got her back.
Lien-Da had her helmet collapse to show a young woman echidna with red fur as she looked at Shade disdainfully. "So here is the little traitor; you shall be executed for your treason while we claim this pitiful piece of rock..." Lien-Da said only to kicked in the back by Sally and they then began duelling.
Then Zachary was seen with a guard with him smirking at the chaos with Ix by his side and Thrash noticed him and pummelled his way through the guard and began viciously attacking Zachary. "I am going to enjoy this..." Thrash remarked with a slasher smile as he began fighting viciously Zachary while the guard were helping to fight the Dark Legion and evacuate citizens with them trying to protect them as well.
From the air came down Enerjak glowing dark green and then began telepathically moving destroyed debris to began attacking the guard and then Thrash as he was biting hard on Zachary to make him yell.
Lien-Da then helped Zachary up; "So you are the disgusting Devil Dog... You should be put down..." Lien-Da told Thrash looking down at his downed form with utter disgust but Zachary put a hand on her shoulder to stop her. She then coughed and said "in the name of Grandmaster Zachary and Enerjak the future Echidna Emperor; I claim this Kingdom for the Dark Legion!" Then the Dark Legion soldiers who were winning began chanting 'for the Dark Legion' as Sonic and his team began attacking them.
"Bit premature and I must say that this Enerjak person isn't very impressive..." Sonic said as he Spin Dashed at the mask making Enerjak stumble back and his mask fall off to reveal Knuckles' face.
"Knuckles?" Sonic and his friends yelled in shock as Enerjak go this mask to put back on and began attacking Sonic and punching him back. He then began telekinetically attacking Sonic's team pushing them back. "Knuckles... What are you doing?" Sonic asked desperately as Enerjak didn't answer.
"He won't listen to you hedgehog; the tech I put in the armor as well as bonding to the Chaos Emerald holding the spirit of his father means that he will be under our control until he sees the light." Zachary explained with a mocking laugh as they all looked his way scornfully.
"Sonic... Tails... We have to get to the Chaos Emeralds... They are our best chance at the moment..." Nicole told Sonic and Tails grabbing their arms as Sonic looked worried.
"But Knuckles is here under mind control and our friends..." Sonic protested as Sally continuing to fight against Lien-Da looked her way.
"Go on you three... We will hold them off and wait for you... We will be fine until you get back... You won't let us down because you never do..." Sally yelled assuringly and flashed them a small smile as Antoine was gulping as he ended up breaking his sword against too many hits against the armors of the Dark Legion soldiers while Shade was knocked back.
Sonic sighed as Tails then held onto his back as he rushed to where the Chaos Emeralds were being kept as Ix led a squadron of Dark Legion soldiers to follow suit.
They got to the containment unit and Tails & Nicole put in the long password to deactivate it; "Thank you for presenting the Chaos Emeralds for us..." Ix grinned appearing with his squadron and Sonic having no time for this then attacked them hard with his speed before they could proper react. He held them back as Tails fired with his drones and went to the Chaos Emeralds.
"Not all 7 but please be enough..." Sonic muttered holding his hand out to them...
Sonic's friends were taken to the ground by the army as they looked to the damage that they caused and the remaining guard were trying to fight back while other Dark Legion soldiers were taking civilians as prisoners. Thrash was defiantly attacking them and Sally and Shade just glared up at Lien-Da and Zachary.
Then came Elias dragged by Dark Legion soldiers as Sally called out his name in worry. "Here is the King of this little rock..." said one of them as they forced him to his knees and Elias still looked defiant.
"We will be taking your surrender now..." Lien-Da spoke as Elias just spat at her direction and the spit hit her armor causing her glare as if he had personally insulted her family.
"I never surrendered to the United Federation, Robotnik and I won't surrender to you; we bested them all and you will not be any different!" Elias told them as Zachary gave the nod for Lien-Da to execute him on the spot.
However there was a glowing blur as the Dark Legion soldiers holding Elias and Sonic's friends were knocked out and they got free; There was Sonic in his golden form glaring hard at them with Tails at his side and Nicole glaring hard at them.
"Oh... You are all just so screwed that you don't know how screwed you are..." laughed Antoine looking like he was going to put himself into a fit as he looked to a fallen guard to claim a replacement sword as Sally smirked at them.
"Thank you Sonic for bringing the power of the remaining 6 Emeralds to us..." smirked Zachary as Enerjak charged at Sonic and he did the same...
