Our story begins in the moon of Kerberos, from Pluto far away from earth, three humans, two man and a teenage boy, travel the furthest extension of their solar system for the first time in history, collecting some ice sample. They have set their equipments as they started collecting the samples to take back to earth.
The first man has pale skin, dark black hair, dark gray eyes, he wears a white and orange space suit with his helmet on. His name is Takashi Shirogane, or Shiro for short, and he's known as the best pilot of the Galaxy Garrisons.
The second man has pale skin, short gray hair, brown eyes cover with square black glasses, he wears a white and orange space suit with his helmet on. His name is Samuel Holt, or Sam for short, and he's a Commander and Senior Science Officer for the Galaxy Garrisons.
Then boy has pale skin, shoulder-length and messy brown hair, brown eyes, he wears a white and orange space suit with his helmet on. His name is Matthew Holt, or Matt for short, and he's a Junior Science Officer for the Galaxy Garrisons.
As the mechanical device dug through the moons crust, the cylinder-shape compartment start to come up with some of the ice sample shaped into a cylinder, then Matt started to reach out for the ice and pulls it slowly out of the compartment.
"Easy, son, this ice is delicate." Said Sam looking at his son.
"Amazing." Said Matt smiling at the ice sample and looks at Shiro. "Isn't this exciting, Shiro?"
"You guys get a little more excited about ice samples than I do." Said Shiro jokingly as he hold the machine steady for Matt to take out the sample.
"This is history in the making, not only have we traveled farther than any human ever has, but this ice could hold microscopic clues about the existence of life outside Earth." Said Sam as he feels proud of his work.
"Think of it, Dad, we could use those clues to become the first people to meet aliens." Said Matt excitedly as he look at his father.
"My life's work would be complete." Said Sam as he smile at the thought.
Just then as soon as Matt got the ice sample out of the compartment, there came a deep rumbling that is starting to shake the whole moon around them.
"What is that?" Asked Sam sensing the shaking. "Seismic activity?"
"We should get back to the ship." Said Shiro looking at his team.
As the shaking was getting louder, Shiro and his team looked up to see a giant warship appeared in the sky above them. The battleship glowed in a purple light.
"Wha. . . What is that?!" Said Sam in shock looking at the ship. "It can't be!"
"Run." Shouted Shiro grabbing Sam and Matt's arms. "Come on, run!"
As Shiro, Sam, and Matt hurried toward their ship, as they try to run as fast as they can, but however they never made it to their ship. Instead, they found themselves surrounded in a strange purple light, causing them to be lifted off the ground and they yelled at the sight of front pulled and passed out.
When Shiro woke up, he was shock to see that he's inside the ship, surrounded by dark metal and glowing purple. As he look around, he started to hear some talking as he look to see a figure in front of him, talking to the purple video screen. The figure was inhumanly tall, with large ears, a horn ridge on their head and. . . Purple skin.
"Emperor Zarkon, we were scouting system X-9-Y as ordered when we found these primitive scientists. I don't think they know anything useful." Said the purple figure as he looks at the screen.
Then Shiro glanced over to see Matt and Sam kneeling, at the same position as he is right now. They both still had their helmets on, and in the dark light of the ship, Shiro couldn't see if they were awake or not, and then he heard another voice talking as he look.
"Take them back to the main fleet for interrogation. The Druids will find out what they know." Said the leader, known as Emperor Zarkon, to the purple alien.
"Please, we come from a peaceful planet!" Said Shiro catching the alien's attention. "We mean no harm! We're unarmed!"
The alien in front of him just nodded, and a guard behind Shiro hit him, knocking him out again. After a few minutes later, Shiro have waken up and saw that he was being dragged through the halls by an armored guard. He try to figure out about his surroundings, but it felt so strange, like he never seen anything like this. It was almost impossible to even believe it was all real.
A year passed since the Kerberos Mission, and many people believe that Shiro, Sam, and Matt are dead. Since the Garrison have believed that it was declared as a failure, the Garrison staff have decided to do a three cadets team up so this won't happen to the other students. Inside a simulator, a Cuban girl was piloting him team to where Kerberos is.
The girl is around seventeen years old, she has light brown tan skin, has long brown hair that passed her shoulders with 3pcs blue rhinestone & planets hair clips on the left side of her hair, blue star earrings on, ocean blue eyes, has a blue star choker around her neck, and she's currently wearing a gray and orange space suit. The girls name is Lana McClain.
"Galaxy Garrison flight log 5-11-14. Begin descent to Kerberos for the rescue mission." Said Lana jerking the simulator while descending.
"Augh, Lana, can you keep this thing straight?" Asked a Hawaiian boy making nausea groan.
The boy is around seventeen years old, he has medium brown skin, black hair with a orange strip of cloth tied around his forehead that reach his mid-back, has brown eyes, and he's currently wearing a gray and orange space suit.
"Relax, Honey-Bee, I'm just getting a feel for the stick. I mean it's not like I did this!" Said Lana jerking the simulator, causing Hunk to groan. "Or this"
"Okay... unless you want to wipe beef stroganoff out of all the little nooks and crannies in this thing, you'd better KNOCK IT OFF!" Said Hunk getting really sick.
"Okay Hunk, I'll try to keep it steady." Said Lana smiling at her best friend and Hunk gave her a thumbs up.
"We've picked up a distress beacon!" Said a small mousy looking boy he look at the monitor.
The boy has fair skin, light brown short hair, brown eyes cover with round glasses, and he's currently wearing a gray and orange space suit. The boys name is Pidge Gunderson.
"All right, look alive, team!" Said Lana activating the monitor. "Pidge, track the coordinates."
"Copy." Said Pidge tracking the coordinates and the simulator began rumbling making Hunk more sick.
"Knock it off, Lana, please!" Said Hunk trying to hold onto his seat.
"Oh, this one's on you, Honey-Bee." Said Lana looking back at Hunk. "We've got a hydraulic stabilizer out, and you have to fix it if we want to keep this ship steady."
Then Hunk pulls up a monitor as he was going to look at the coordinates, but apparently the shaking is making it difficult for him as he look like he was about to lose his lunch.
"Oh no. . ." Said Hunk choking down his vomit.
"Oh, no. . . Fix now, puke later Honey-Bee!" Said Lana looking at Hunk and looks back at the monitor.
"I lost contact." Said Pidge looking at the monitor. "The shaking is interfering with our sensors."
"Hunk, come on!" Said Lana urging Hunk.
"It's not responding. . ." Said Hunk carefully undid his belt and slid to the floor, crawling over to the machinery and Lana's monitor activates.
"Oh, never mind, fellas, thar she blows, preparing for approach on visual." Said Lana looking at her team.
"I don't think that's advisable with our current mechanical and. . . Gastrointestinal issues." Said Pidge seeing Hunk choking down vomit again.
"Agreed." Said Hunk agreeing with Pidge.
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing." Said Lana looking at his team. "Pidge, hail down to them and let them know their ride is here!"
Pidge nodded his head as he unbuckled his seatbelt, then he stand up from his seat to reach the speaker.
"Attention lunar vessel—Uwah!!!" Said Pidge falling out of his chair and collides with the floor.
"What are you doing?" Said Lana looking at Pidge. "Buckle your belt, and Hunk, stop that shaking!"
"I'm trying. I. . . Ah. . . Oh. . . Oh no. . ." Said Hunk as he vomits in the main gearbox and the rumbling stops.
"Attention lunar vessel, this is Galaxy Garrison Rescue Craft One Victor Six Three Tango." Said Pidge speaking through the microphone. "Coming in for landing and extraction, against crew recommendations."
"Pidge, no time for your mutinous comments, they're going under and we're going in." Said Lana diving the simulator towards the surface of Kerberos.
"Look out for that overhang!" Said Pidge warning Lana.
"No worries! My first year in flight school, you know what they called me? They called me 'The Tailor' because of how I thread the needle." Said Lana trying to go around the overhang. "Come around, come around! Come on, come on. . ."
But as Lana try to fly through an arch of rocks, she miscalculated her turn and hit the rock, which have cause the ship to crash so hard that it cause them to lose a wing.
"We lost a wing!" Said Hunk panicking.
"Oh great. . . Guess we're going to have to do an emergency landing." Said Lana proceeding to land the vessel.
(Simulation: Passed)
A computer voice said, the three cadets all sight in relief as they didn't crash the simulator, and the door opened to reveal Commander Iverson.
"Roll out, donkeys!" Shouted Commander Iverson and the trio exit the simulator and stand in front of their classmates. "Well that could've gone worse, considering you did manage to land, but let's see if we can't use this complete failure as a lesson for the rest of you students, can anyone point out the mistakes these three so-called cadets made in the simulator?"
"The engineer puked in the main gearbox!" Said a male cadet.
"Yes, as everyone knows, vomit is not an approved lubricant for engine systems." Said Iverson frowning at Hunk, who looked ashamed. "What else?"
"The Comm Spec removed his safety harness." Said a female cadet.
"The pilot didn't listen!" Said another female cadet.
"Correct, and worst of all, the whole jump, they're arguing with each other, heck, if you're going to be this bad individually, you'd better at least be able to work as a team!" Said Commander Iverson scolding at the trio. "Galaxy Garrison exists to turn young cadets like you into the next generation of elite astro explorers, but these kinds of mental mistakes are exactly what cost the lives of the men on the Kerberos Mission."
"That's not true, sir!" Said Pidge angrily balling his fists.
"What did you say?!" Asked Iverson looking at Pidge and Lana quickly covers Pidge's mouth.
"Sorry, sir! I think he may have hit his head when he fell out of his chair. But point taken." Said Lana with a cheery smile and Iverson walks up to Lana.
"I hope I don't need to remind you that the only reason you're here is that the best pilot in your class had a discipline issue and flunked out." Said Iverson giving Lana with a hard look. "Don't follow in his footsteps. Next!"
The trio dejectedly watch as their classmates board the simulator, then they went to the nearby locker rooms to change out of their space suits and back into their cadet uniforms.
Later that night, all the students were either talking to their teammates or going to their dorm rooms, until Commander Iverson came up to them to announce that it's almost lights out.
"Lights out at five!" Said Commander Iverson walking through the hallways. "Everyone back to your rooms!"
Everyone listen to Commander Iverson's command and head back to their dorm rooms. But in one of the dorm rooms, Lana and Hunk both peaked out of one of the dorm rooms making sure the cost is clear, and they're both wearing their civilian clothes.
Lana wears a light-gray tank top with blue straps underneath a blue button up cardigan shirt with elbow-length sleeves, a gray-brown jacket accented with black and orange and has a white hood, a blue denim skirt, and white high-top sneakers accented with black and light blue.
Hunk wears a bright yellow shirt line with black, with the sleeves cut to his forearms, a green, orange, and gray vest with a tall collar and outwardly padded with thick shoulder pads over his shirt, with a line cut to reach longest at the center and falls far over his pants' waistline, a gray and orange utility belt with a pouch on either hip, gray fingerless gloves lined at the wrist with a thick black cuff, a baggy tan pants, padded at the knees a darker brown, and white boots accented with black and orange.
"You know Hunk, I'm usually the one suggesting sneaking out, I'm guessing your feel adventurous right now, huh?" Asked Lana smiling at her best friend.
"Yeah. . . Well, to be honest, I didn't want to do this." Said Hunk smile bashfully at Lana. "But I wanted to cheer you up after what Iverson said, and thought you could use a break."
"Aww, that's really sweet Honey-Bee, now let's go get Pidge." Said Lana smiling at Hunk. "Once we get Pidge, we're going to hit the town, loosen up, grab a bite to eat, maybe even meeting. . ."
"OK, I'm just. . . I'm just saying this here, right now, on the record: Even though this is my idea to cheer you up, I feel like this is a bad idea." Said Hunk having second thoughts.
Then as soon as the lights turn off, Lana and Hunk sneak through the hallways to head to Pidge's dorm room.
"You know Honey-Bee, for someone in a space exploration program, and for coming up with your first sneak out plan, which I usually come up with, you don't have much of a sense of adventure." Said Lana looking at her best friend.
"Because I don't want to risk into getting into more trouble, and all of your little 'adventures' end up with me in the principal's office." Said Hunk looking at Lana.
"Oh come on Honey-Bee, not all my adventures end us up at the principal's office." Said Lana smiling at her best friend. "And besides, you need to have some fun once in a while."
Then Lana and Hunk reached the instructor's lounge, Lana crouched down by the large window looking out onto the hallway, and took a peek so that no one see's them. As Lana sneaks by the Instructor's Lounge, she motions Hunk to follow her, which he reluctantly does. Then Lana heard a guard coming, so she and Hunk hide inside some nearby recycling cans as the guard passes by.
"L-5 North all clear." Said the guard walking passed the recycling bins.
Lana took a peek to make sure the guard is gone as she jumps out of the bin, Hunk tries to follow suit, but he got stuck and falls over, and Lana helps him.
"You okay, Hunk?" Asked Lana helping Hunk up.
"I'm fine." Said Hunk smiling at his best friend.
As they arrived Pidge's dorm room, Lana saw the door open, and began slipping her and Hunk to the corner, and saw Pidge coming out of his room wearing civilian clothes like them.
Pidge is wearing a white long-sleeved shirt with green shoulders and pockets in the front, with a high loose collar secured with a grey neck brace, and orange accents, grey shorts, and orange, white-capped shoes. He also had a backpack, then he glanced both ways before running off. Lana and Hunk both looked at Pidge as they got out of their hiding place.
"Where is he going?" Asked Lana getting curious.
So Lana and Hunk followed Pidge all the way up to the roof, which was off-limits. They found Pidge is on the roof of the Galaxy Garrison, listening to radio chatter through headphones and special equipment. Hunk crawls along the roof and Lana carefully removes the headphones to speak close to ear.
"You come up here to rock out?" Asked Lana with a smirk.
"Waah!" Cried Pidge jerking back to see Lana and Hunk behind him. "Oh Lana, Hunk, no, I was just looking at the stars."
"Uh-huh, what are you doing up here Pidge?" Said Lana knowing that Pidge isn't a good liar. "And where did you get this stuff, doesn't look like Garrison tech."
"I built it." Said Pidge smugly.
"You built all this?" Asked Hunk trying to touch the equipment.
"Ah, stop it!" Said Pidge slapping Hunk's hand away. "With this thing, I can scan all the way to the edge of the solar system."
"Wow, it can really scan all the way to the solar system?" Asked Lana looking at Pidge's equipment.
"Yep!" Said Pidge looking proud of himself.
"Even all the way to Kerberos?" Asked Lana causing Pidge to look away. "Pidge, what's wrong, every time the instructor's mention the Kerberos Mission, you go ballistic!"
"Second warning, Hunk!" Said Pidge glaring at Hunk who's trying to sneakily touch the equipment again.
"Look Pidge, I know something is wrong and I want to help you, we can't have secrets between each other, I'm not saying this as a teammate, but I'm asking you as a friend, so please tell us what's going on." Said Lana placing her hand on Pidge's shoulder.
Pidge look at Lana with a shock look, as he saw how Lana wants to help him, as he look at her knowing she's telling the truth, and let out a sight.
"Okay, the world as you know it is about to change. The Kerberos Mission wasn't lost because of some malfunction or crew mistake." Said Pidge explaining till he saw Hunk trying to touch the equipment again. "STOP TOUCHING MY EQUIPMENT!"
Hunk shrunk down a bit from Pidge yelled at him to stop touching his stuff and he slumped over the ground with a groan.
"Hey, don't look at me Hunk, you brought that on yourself." Said Lana looking at Hunk and then looks at Pidge. "And you know Pidge, I think you may be on to something."
"He is?" Asked Hunk looking at Lana.
"Yeah, think about it: two of the smartest and intelligent scientists of the Garrison and the best pilot of all time suddenly die after totally normal radio communication." Said Lana looking at Hunk. "Something must've happened during the Kerberos Mission that the Garrisons doesn't want anybody to know what happen."
"Exactly Lana, so I've been scanning the system and picking up alien radio chatter." Said Pidge explains further.
"Whoa, what? Aliens?!" Asked Hunk in an alarmed voice.
"Okay, Pidge are sure you're not crazy?" Asked Lana looking at Pidge with concern look.
"I'm serious, they keep repeating one word – Voltron." Said Pidge showing Hunk and Lana his notepad to show a page filled with tallies, scribbles, and the word 'voltron' written.
"Voltron?" Asked Lana reading the word. "What does that mean?"
"I don't know, all I know is that they just keep saying it over and over." Said Pidge explaining further. "And tonight, it's going crazier than I have ever heard it."
"Okay, on a scale of one to ten, how crazy are we talking about Pidge?" Asked Lana looking concerned.
Before Pidge was able to answer Lana's question, all of a sudden, an alarm blared through the loudspeakers on the roof.
"Attention, students. This is not a drill. We are on lockdown! Security situation Zulu Niner. Repeat: All students are to remain in barracks until further notice!" Said Commander Iverson in the loudspeakers causing Lana, Pidge, and Hunk to get concerned.
"Wait. . . What's going on?" Asked Hunk panicking till he saw a fiery object appears in the sky. "Is that a meteor?! A very, very big... meteor?"
"It's a ship!" Said Pidge looking through his binoculars.
"May I see?" Asked Lana and Pidge gives her the binoculars. "Holy crow, I can't believe what I'm seeing! That's not one of ours!"
"No, it's one of theirs." Said Pidge in amazement.
"So wait, there really are aliens out there?!" Asked Hunk in fear.
The three watch as the alien spacecraft crashes into the desert. The Garrison sends out land rovers to the crash site.
"We've gotta see that ship!" Said Pidge finishing packing his stuff.
"Oh yeah, this is awesome!" Said Lana as she and Pidge leave the rooftop. "Hunk, come on!"
"Oh, this is the worst team-building exercise ever." Said Hunk following Lana and Pidge.
So Lana, Hunk, and Pidge all exit out of the Garrison rooftop and start run off to where the crash site is, to figure out what it is.
A few minutes later, Lana, Hunk, and Pidge arrived at the destination and spy on the quarantined crash site from a nearby cliff. Lana views the alien craft through the binoculars.
"Woah, what the heck is that thing?" Asked Lana looking through the binoculars surveying the scene. "I never seen this type of technology before. . . Oh my gosh, a family of desert foxes, look at the cute little pups!"
"Lana!" Said Pidge slapping Lana's head for being distracted by the desert foxes.
"Ow! Oh, right sorry, okay, alien ship. Oh man, we'll never get past all those guards to get a look." Said Lana putting down the binoculars.
"Aw, man, I guess there's nothing to do but head back to the barracks, right?" Asked Hunk as he was about to head back to the Garrisons.
"Wait. They set up a camera in there and I grabbed its feed!" Said Pidge showing Lana and Hunk the footage. "Look."
The three of them huddled around Pidge's laptop to see inside the tent. There was a medical table and two guys in hazmat suits, and on the table was none other than Takashi Shirogane, and he was wearing a full-length black bodysuit, as well as a ripped purple shirt.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Asked Shiro looking at the Garrison staff with a shock look.
"Calm down, Shiro, we just need to keep you quarantined until we run some tests on you." Said Iverson in a medical hazmat suit.
"You have to listen to me, they destroyed worlds, aliens are coming!" Said Shiro struggling to get out of the table.
"That's Shiro, the pilot of the Kerberos Mission, that guy's my hero!" Said Lana in shock.
"Guess he's not dead in space after all." Said Hunk in shock.
"Where's the rest of the crew?" Asked Pidge looking concerned about the other crew members.
"Do you know how long you've been gone?" Asked Iverson as he look at Shiro.
"I don't know, months, years, look, there's no time, aliens are coming here for a weapon, they're probably on their way, they'll destroy us, we have to find Voltron!" Said Shiro in a panicked voice.
"Voltron!" Said Pidge looking at Lana and Hunk with shock looks.
"Sir, take a look at this, it appears his arm has been replaced with a cyborg prosthetic." Said a Technician to Iverson looking at Shiro's robot arm.
"Put him under until we know what that thing can do." Said Iverson to the technician as they got a needle.
"Don't, don't put me under. . . No. . . No, there's no time, let me go!" Said Shiro panicking as he tried to get out of the table.
"They didn't ask about the rest of the crew." Said Pidge looking worried.
"What are they doing?" Said Lana looking at the computer video. "The guy's a legend. They're not even gonna listen to him?"
"We have to get him out." Said Pidge looking at Lana and Hunk.
"Ah, I hate to be the voice of reason here, always, but weren't we just watching on TV because there was no way to get past the guards?" Said Hunk looking at Lana and Pidge.
"That was before we were properly motivated. We've just got to think." Said Lana trying to figure out a plan. "Could we tunnel in?"
"Maybe we could get some hazmat suits and sneak in like med techs." Said Pidge coming up with an idea.
"Or we dress up like cooks, sneak into the commissary... little late-night snack." Said Hunk with a sly smile.
"No, Hunk, now it's not the time to be thinking about food, we had to help Shiro." Said Lana with a serious look. "What we need is a distraction, the only question how are we going to create one?"
Then all of a sudden, there was an explosions burst from the distance and causing the three cadets to scream.
"Is that the aliens?! Are. . .Tha. . . The. . . Is that the aliens?! Are they here?! They got here so quick!" Shouted Hunk freaking out.
"No, those explosions were a distraction, for him!" Said Pidge pointing to a teenage boy who was arriving by a hovercraft. "The Garrison's headed towards the blast, and he's sneaking in from the other side!"
Then Lana views the new arrival through binoculars and saw the teenage boy and realize that the boy is none other than Keith Kogane.
"No way. . . Oh, he is not going to beat us in there! I swear, that guy always try to one-up me!" Said Lana giving Pidge his binoculars back.
"Who is it?" Asked Hunk following Lana.
"Keith!" Said Lana answering Hunk's question.
"Who?" Asked Pidge looking confused and follow Hunk and Lana.
"Are you sure?" Asked Hunk looking confused.
"Oh, I'd recognize that mullet anywhere!" Said Lana going down the hill.
"Who's Keith?!" Asked Pidge as he doesn't know who's Keith.
"Keith Kogane was the top pilot in our class until he got kicked out for disciplinary action a year ago, he was the person Iverson was explaining." Said Hunk explaining to Pidge.
Lana, Hunk, and Pidge all run toward to where the quarantined crash site is, however Lana was the fastest amount Hunk and Pidge, as she wants to get there before Keith get inside to save Shiro first.
Meanwhile inside the tent, while the technicians examine Shiro, Keith enter the tent with his lower half covered by a red bandana, and caught the attention of the three technicians.
Keith has pale skin, black mullet hair, purple eyes, he wears a dark blue-gray t-shirt underneath a red, white, and yellow jacket cropped to his ribcage, with the large cuffs of the jacket rolled up to expose their white color, the collar of the jacket stands propped upright, black pants that his shirt overlaps, has white boots with black and red accents, black fingerless gloves with a expose part of his hand before strapping together over the wrist, has a brown utility belt with a silver rectangular buckle in the center and two lighter brown pouches at either hip with a silver-colored and double-bladed knife with a black pommel.
"Hey!" Shouted Iverson charging to Keith.
However, Keith attack all three technicians with martial arts and knock them out cold. Then Keith turn to the medical table and saw Shiro and he was shock and happy to see that Shiro is alive.
"Shiro?" Said Keith feeling like it's a dream.
Then Keith began cutting Shiro free from his bonds and tries to carry him out. However just as he tried to carried Shiro out, Lana have arrived and look a bit annoyed.
"Oh no. No, no, no, no you don't. If you think you're going save Shiro and get all the glory, you got another thing coming." Said Lana as she goes to Shiro and Keith, as she lifts Shiro over her shoulder.
"Who are you?" Asked Keith looking at Lana.
"Who am I? Seriously, the name's Lana!" Said Lana looking a bit offended and Keith silently looks at Lana without recognition. "We were at the same class at the Garrison?"
"Really, are you an engineer?" Asked Keith raising an eyebrow.
"What. . . No, I'm a pilot!" Said Lana looking more offended. "We were always competing with each, but you always come up on top, while I was second-best."
"Oh wait, I remember you now. Your Lana McClain, you're a cargo pilot." Said Keith as he remember Lana now.
"Well, not anymore, I'm fighter class now thanks to you getting kicked out." Said Lana correcting Keith.
"Well, congratulations." Said Keith sarcastically.
Lana look away a bit looking a bit hurt, as she and Keith carried Shiro out together, unknown to Lana that Keith felt like a jerk and never meant to hurt her. So Keith and Lana met Pidge and Hunk outside, where they are next to Keith hovercraft and Hunk spots the Garrison returning.
"Oh, man, they're coming back and they do not look happy. We gotta go." Said Hunk panicking and look at Keith. "Uh, do you mind if we catch a ride with you?"
Of course, Keith didn't say anything, but his help Keith and Lana load Shiro onto the speeder, and they all began to climb on it as well.
"Is this thing going to be big enough for all of us?" Asked Pidge looking at Keith.
"No." Said Keith as he starts his hovercrafts.
Then Keith starts to take off as soon as the Garrison have arrive to pursue them. Apparently since they are in the back, Pidge has to hold on to Shiro.
"Why am I holding onto this guy?" Asked Pidge holding onto Shiro.
"Hey, we did all fit!" Said Hunk cheerfully.
Lana however didn't say anything as she was sure that her heart almost stop, when she almost fall off the hovercraft. Then as she almost fell the second time when the hovercraft got into more speed, she grabbed onto Keith and held him as her arms are around his waist.
"Can't this thing go any faster?" Asked Lana as she felt scared.
"We could toss out some non-essential weight." Said Keith causing Lana to frown at him.
"Hey, watch your mouth!" Shouted Lana glaring at Keith and saw the Garrisons coming closer. "Oh great, here they come again!"
"Big man, lean to the left!" Shouted Keith to Hunk, causing Lana to frown at him.
Hunk listened to Keith as he lean left and they flew off the edge, landing on the ledge below and continuing off. One of the cars stopped and slammed into the other.
"Aw man! Mr. Harris just chiked out Professor Montgomery! Wait. . . No, no, he's fine." Shouted Hunk seeing the drivers were okay."
"Big man, lean right!" Shouted Keith informing Hunk.
"Hey, his name's not Big Man, his name is Hunk, and he's not big." Said Lana defending her best friend.
Hunk smile at Lana defending him and he listen to what Keith said, as he leans right and the hovercraft jumps from one cliff to the next, causing another rover to crash. Then Hunk start to see the cliff's edge ahead of them.
"Guys? Is that a cliff up ahead?" Asked Hunk in a panicked voice.
"Ooooh no, no, no!" Said Lana began to panic as well and held Keith tighter in fear.
"Yup." Said Keith with a smirk.
Then Keith increases speed while everyone else screams in panic, and the hovercraft jumps off the cliff, and Lana lean closer to Keith with her arms wrapped around his waist with her eyes shut in fear.
"What are you doing?!" Shouted Lana in a panic voice. "You're going to kill us!"
"Shut up and trust me!" Said Keith looking back at the others.
Then Keith began to adjust the new weight and they safely avoided crashing to the ground and continues flying into the desert, escaping the Garrison. After a few minutes later, they all arrived at a little shack, Hunk and Pidge both carried Shiro into the shack, and Lana sight in relief that they are alive.
"Uh. . . You can let go now." Said Keith confusing Lana till she realized her arms are still wrapped around his waist and let's go of Keith.
Lana however saw Keith blushing and she found it weird a bit, but she shook it off as she got off the speeder. Then Keith shook off as he got off his speeder and head inside the shack, the four teens began to check on Shiro, heal his injuries and decided to get some rest, and wait till Shiro wakes up in the morning.
So they all start to go to asleep in the living room. Hunk, Pidge, and Lana all sleep on the couch, while Keith sleeps on the floor. Course Lana gave Pidge her jacket to keep warm, which Pidge thanked her, however it was a bit cold inside the shack and Lana tried to keep herself warm to sleep.
Suddenly Lana began to feel something warm covering her, and she opens her eyes a tiny bit, to see Keith covering her with blanket for warmth, and he goes back to sleep. Lana was confused at first, cause she thought she and Keith are rivals, but she shook it off as she falls back asleep with the blanket and smile a bit, unknown to her that Keith was blushing bit as he sleeps.
The next morning during the sunrise, Shiro have fully recovered after he was put under by the Garrisons and stood outside the desert shack watching the sunrise.
Shiro is wearing a gray long-sleeved turtleneck shirt, a black vest that has a tall collar and accented with yellow, white, and light gray, has a black fingerless glove on his left hand, his vest and shirt are tucked under a gray utility belt, dark grey pants that are padded at the knees, and black and gray boots. As he look at the sunrise, Keith approached him quietly and lay a hand on his shoulder.
"It's good to have you back." Said Keith smiling at Shiro.
"Heh, it's good to be back." Said Shiro smiling back at Keith.
"So what happened out there?" Asked Keith as he look concerned. "Where. . . Were you?"
"I wish I could tell you. My head's still pretty scrambled. I was on an. . . Alien ship but. . . Somehow I escaped. It's all a blur." Said Shiro and then looks at Keith. "How did you know to come save me when I crashed?"
"You should come see this." Said Keith as he look serious.
Then Shiro follows Keith into the shack. Inside the shack, Keith starts showing Shiro, Lana, Hunk, and Pidge his board of a map, diagrams, and notes, which they are amazed at.
"What have you been working on?" Asked Shiro getting curious.
"I can't explain it, really, after getting booted from the Garrison, I was kinda. . . Lost and. . . Felt myself drawn out to this place. It's like something. . . Some energy was telling me to search." Said Keith as he starts explaining.
"For what?" Asked Shiro getting curious.
"Well, I didn't really know at the time. . . Until I stumbled across this area. It's an outcropping of giant boulders with caves covered in these ancient markings. Each tells a slightly different story about a blue lion, but they all share clues leading to some event, some arrival happening last night. Then you showed up." Said Keith looking at Shiro.
"I guess I should thank all of you for helping to rescue me." Said Shiro looking at the others behind him and smile at Lana. "Lana, right?"
Shiro offers Lana his prosthetic hand. Lana blush a bit for meeting her hero, but she smiles at him and shakes his hand. Shiro offers to shake Pidge and Hunk's hand, but Pidge is the only one who does, while Hunk got nervous.
"The nervous guy's Hunk. I'm Pidge." Said Pidge introducing himself and Hunk. "So, did anyone else from your crew make it out?"
"I'm not sure. I remember the mission and being captured. After that, it's just bits and pieces." Said Shiro remembering a bit of the mission.
"Yeah, sorry to interrupt, but back to the aliens." Said Hunk freaking out a bit. "Where are they now? Are they coming? Are they coming for all of us? Like where are they at this very moment?"
"I can't really put it together. . . I. . . I remember the word "Voltron," its some kind of weapon they're looking for, but I don't know why, but whatever it is, I think we need to find it before they do." Said Shiro looking serious.
"Well last night, I was rummaging through Pidge's stuff, and I found this picture." Said Hunk pulling a picture of "Pidge" with a girl in it. "Look it's his girlfriend."
"Hey, gimme that!" Said Pidge snatching the photo back and grabs his backpack from Hunk. "What were you doing in my stuff?"
"I was looking for a candy bar, but then, I started reading his diary." Said Hunk pulling out Pidge's diary.
"WHAT?!" Shouted Pidge snatching his diary away.
"Hunk, personal boundaries!" Said Lana scolding at Hunk.
"Sorry." Said Hunk bashfully and then explains. "And I noticed that the repeating series of numbers the aliens are searching for looks a lot like a Fraunhofer line."
"Frown... who?" Asked Keith looking confused.
"It's a number describing the emission spectrum of an element." Said Hunk explaining to the others. "Only this element doesn't exist on Earth. I thought it might be this Voltron, and I think I can build a machine to look for it, kinda like a Voltron Geiger Counter."
"Hunk, you big, gassy genius!" Said Lana smiling at her best friend.
"It's all really fascinating, honestly, I did a rough graph of what the wavelength and it looks like this." Said Hunk pulling out a graph of the wavelength.
"Gimme that!" Said Keith snatching the paper from Hunk's hand.
Lana frowned at how Keith snatch the paper from Hunk, and was about to protest, till Keith went to the board and realizing it matches the formation of rocks he has investigated before.
After some minutes of building the geiger, the group heads into the desert to the location, where the wavelength matched up almost perfectly with Hunk's graph.
"Okay, I'll admit, this is super freaky." Said Lana looking a bit nervous and had a strange feeling.
"I'm getting a reading." Said Hunk as they all start moving.
Hunk's geiger starts pointing his little machine towards an arch that led into an alley between the formations, while Pidge is holding a small satellite dish. Then Hunks machine starts beeping crazy, as they arrived at a cave. So they all enter the cave, and saw many ancient carvings, mostly about a giant blue lion.
"What are these?" Asked Shiro looking around the cave.
"These are the lion carvings I was telling you about. They're everywhere around here." Said Keith explaining as they all examined the carving
Then Lana approaches at one of the carving and gently ran her hand on it, when suddenly all the carving start to light up in a bright blue glow, surprising everyone.
"Woah!" Yelped Lana in shock.
"They've never done that before." Said Keith in shock.
Suddenly, the ground beneath them began to collapse as the team all slide down at a natural water slide, all yelling in shock and fear, and they all fall into a cavern of water.
"Is everyone okay?" Asked Shiro looking at the others.
"Yeah, I think so." Said Hunk sitting up with a groan.
"Man, now that is one water slide I don't ever want to go again." Said Pidge groaning a bit.
"I don't understand, they never done that when I was here." Said Keith getting up and place his hand somewhere that is soft
"Aah Keith!" Shouted Lana pushing Keith away from her.
"Hey, what was that for?!" Said Keith frowning at Lana.
"You touched my breasts!" Said Lana covering her chest.
Keith suddenly blushed as he realized that the soft thing his touched was Lana's breasts. And as Keith saw Lana covering her chest with her arms and blush in embarrassment, he suddenly blushed deeply and thought she look so cute. Lucky for him, Lana didn't notices Keith blushing as she look up and saw something that made her gasp in shock.
"They are everywhere." Said Lana in a soft voice.
There in front of them, was a large mechanical blue lion that is the size of a big ship and has a blue transparent hexagon pattern shaped-dome force field surrounding it and the whole group gasp in shock and amazement.
"Is this it?" Asked Pidge looking amazed. "Is this the Voltron?"
"It. . . Must be." Said Shiro looking at the lion in shock.
"This is what's been causing all this crazy energy out here." Said Keith walking towards it. "Looks like there's some kind of force field around it."
"Does anyone else get the feeling this is staring at them?" Asked Lana as she goes side to side.
"Hmm. . . No." Said Shiro as they kept walking.
"Yeah, the eyes are totally following me." Said Lana feeling like the lion is looking at her.
Then as Keith runs up to the force field, he touches it with his hands, but there was no reaction to it.
"How do we get past it?" Asked Keith trying to figure out how to get through the force field.
"Maybe we just have to knock." Said Lana jokingly.
Lana literally knocks on the force field and it reacts, as it's dissipating and igniting the area around them in blue. The team sees an image of Voltron forming from the five Lions in their minds. And the five of them were in awe.
"Woah, did you guys just see that?" Asked Lance looking at the others.
"Voltron is a robot, Voltron is a huge, huge awesome robot!" Said Hunk getting amazed by the vision.
"And this is only one part of it!" Said Pidge in an excited tone. "I wonder where the rest of them are."
"This is what they're looking for." Said Shiro looking at the lion.
"Incredible." Said Keith looking amazed.
Suddenly, the Blue Lion lowers its head and opens its mouth to allow them inside, terrifying Hunk and Pidge. Lana hesitates at first, but gleefully enters and as she takes a seat in the cockpit.
"Here we go!" Said Lana smirking and the seat jolts forward, making Lana scream, and the command console activates. "Heheh! All right! Very nice!"
"Okay, okay, okay." Said Hunk putting a hand on the back of Lana's chair. "Guys, I just want to make sure we're all on the same page, just want everyone to understand that we are in a giant, alien, futuristic cat head right now."
Lance was about to say something to Hunk, when she suddenly senses the Blue Lion communicating with her.
"Woah, guys did you hear that?" Asked Lana looking at the others.
"Hear what?" Asked Shiro as he and the others look at her.
"Is this ship haunted?" Said Hunk in panicked.
"Okay, this is going to sound crazy, but I think the lions talking to me. . . . Let me see." Said Lance looking at the controls.
Trusting the voice in her head, Lana began to press a few buttons, then the Blue Lion stands up and let out a loud roar, causing Hunk and Pidge to scream.
"Okay, I got it! Now let's try this." Said Lana grabbing the handles and thrust them forward with a grin.
Then Lana smashes the Blue Lion out of the cavern and starts taking off flying, doing some somersaults and wild turns in the air, terrifying the team. Hunk and Pidge scream while clinging onto Lana.
"You are. . . The worst. . . Pilot. . . Ever!" Yelled Keith twirling in the air.
Lana joins in on the screaming as she tried to control the panels. At the Galaxy Garrison, Iverson and an guard witness the Blue Lion flying around the desert.
"What in the Sam Hill is that?" Asked Iverson looking at one of the guards.
"It appears to be a flying blue lion, sir." Said the guard answering Iverson's question.
Iverson looked unimpressed as the Blue Lion lands and runs along the desert at high speed, and Lana couldn't help but grin as she kept driving the Blue Lion.
"Isn't this awesome?" Asked Lana grinning in excitement.
"Make it stop!" Yelled Hunk as he look scared. "Make it stop!"
"I'm not making it do anything!" Said Lana looking at Hunk. "It's like this thing is on autopilot!"
Just then, the thrusters engaged again and they took off rocketing through the sky, and the others got confused into where they are going.
"Where are you going?!" Asked Keith looking at Lana.
"I just said that it's on autopilot!" Said Lana as she began reading the words on the screen. "It says that there's an alien ship approaching earth and we're supposed to stop it."
"What did it say, exactly?" Asked Pidge looking at Lana.
"Well, it's not like it's saying words, more like feeding ideas into my brain, kind of." Said Lana explaining to the others.
"Well, if this thing is the weapon they're coming for, why don't we just, like. . . I don't know, give it to them. . . Maybe they'll leave us alone. Sorry, Lion, nothing personal." Said Hunk looking up to the lion.
"You don't understand. These monsters spread like a plague throughout the galaxy, destroying everything in their path. There's no bargaining with them. They won't stop until everything is dead." Said Shiro as everyone turned to look at Hunk with looks on their face.
"Oh, never mind then." Said Hunk feeling embarrassed.
The Blue Lion leaves the Earth's atmosphere and a warship from the Galra Empire suddenly appears, and everyone gasps in shock.
"Uh... Holy crow! Is that really an alien ship?!" Asked Hunk in fear.
"They found me." Said Shiro with his eyes widen in fear.
The ship began to start blasting many rays of purple light that are meant to be destructive. Then Lana moved the lion out of the way and gripped the handles harder.
"We've got to get out of here!" Said Pidge seeing the laser firing at them.
"Hang on!" Said Lana began dodging the lasers.
Lana continued dodging and weaving between the beams of light while everyone yelled and focused on holding on and desperately hoping that they wouldn't die.
"Ah! Alright! Okay, I think I know what to do!" Said Lana with a smirk.
"Be careful, Lana, this isn't a simulator!" Said Pidge reminding her.
"Well, that's good, I sometimes wreck the simulator." Said Lana as she shrugged.
Then Lana uses the Blue Lion's mouth cannon to blast the length of the warship.
"Let's try this." Said Lana as she uses the Blue Lion's claws to tear into the warship's side.
"Nice job, Lana!" Said Shiro smiling at Lana.
"Now let's try to lead this thing away from Earth." Said Lana speeding the lion away.
Inside the warship, the unnamed Galra commander that captured Shiro a year previous speaks to Zarkon through a video transmission.
"Lord Zarkon, the escaped prisoner, and his people found the Lion." Said the Galra Commander. "It attacked us and is heading out of the system."
"Follow that Lion and alert all ships in the area to intercept." Said Zarkon ordering the Galra Commander. "Capturing that Lion is your first and only priority."
"Yes, your Majesty, full power after the Lion!" Said the Galra Commander as the Galra warship pursues the Blue Lion.
"Oh, no!" Shouted Hunk freaking out.
"They're gaining on us!" Shouted Pidge freaking as well.
"It's weird, they're not trying to shoot us. . . They're just chasing." Said Lana looking back at the ship.
"Okay, seriously, now we think having aliens follow us is good?" Asked Hunk nervously. "I am not on board with this new direction, guys."
"Where are we?" Asked Keith and Shiro look out the window.
"Edge of the solar system." Said Shiro seeing Kerberos Moon. "There's Kerberos."
"It takes months for our ships to get out this far, we got out here in five seconds." Said Pidge in shock.
As they passed by the last of Pluto's moons, suddenly a giant vortex of swirling light with a blue border formed right before their eyes.
"What is that?" Asked Hunk looking at the vortex.
"Okay, guys, this is going to sound crazy but the lion wants us to go through the wormhole." Said Lana hearing the lions voice in her head.
"Where does it go?" Asked Pidge looking at Lana.
"I. . . I dunno, Shiro, you're the senior officer here, what should we do?" Asked Lana as everyone look at Shiro.
"Whatever's happening, the Lion knows more than we do. I say we trust it, but we're a team now. We should decide together." Said Shiro looking at the four teens.
Then everyone looked at each other and slowly, they each nodded their assent in turn, then they all looked at Lana, and Pidge and Hunk both put their hands on Lana's shoulder, and he took a deep breath and look at the wormhole.
"Alright, looks like we're all ditching class tomorrow." Said Lana grabbing on the controls.
Then as Lana engaged the controls, the Blue Lion enters the Wormhole and it disappears before the Galra warship can follow. Little did the five know is that they are about to embark on an adventure.
