At the Galra Empire's Central Command, Zarkon is absorbing a blast of powerful refined Quintessence with the assistance of the Druids, as Haggar watches.
"Sire, the beast is almost to Arus." Said Haggar informing Zarkon while he was looking at his armor.
"This Quintessence gives me so much power, I could fight the paladins myself." Said Zarkon feeling the quintessence in his armor.
"There is no need, my creature will destroy them and capture the Voltron lions for you." Said Haggar smirking evilly. "Then, the most powerful weapon in the universe will be ours."
Meanwhile, the Paladins return to the Castle of Lions after training to pilot Voltron. Shiro, Hunk, Lana, and Keith enter the dining room with the Black, Red, Blue, and Yellow Lions in their physical form.
"Great job training today, guys, we're really getting the hang of Voltron." Said Shiro smiling at his team.
"Seriously, how far do you think my lion kicked that broken alien ship, must have been like a mile!" Said Lana smiling at the others.
'Tell me about it, that was awesome!' Said Blue smiling at Lana.
"Yeah, that'll come in handy when the Galra challenges Voltron to a soccer match." Said Keith rolling his eyes.
"Hey, Blue and I did something cool for the team and you can't handle it. I get it." Said Lana smirking at Keith.
"Your kick ruined our balance, we fell." Said Keith frowning at Lana.
'Yeah Blue, that hurt when we lost our balance.' Said Red frowning at Blue.
"Well that falling part was Hunk's fault." Said Lana defending herself.
'It's also Yellow's fault too.' Said Blue agreeing with Lance.
"Hey!" Said Hunk and Yellow in unison.
"All right, save your energy for fighting Zarkon." Said Shiro looking at his teammates.
'Yes, when need the energy to defeat Zarkon.' Said Black looking at the lions, then Coran enter with a Altean platter in his hands.
"Hello, guys, how was the Voltron workout?" Asked Coran entering the room.
"We're getting there, are you and Allura almost done fixing the Castle so we can leave this planet?" Asked Shiro looking at Coran. "I feel like we're sitting ducks here on Arus."
"Just about, in the meantime, to get your minds off those duck seats you're worried about, I made you guys an authentic ancient paladin lunch!" Said Coran putting the platter down.
But when Coran remove the lid, it reveal to be a yellow, slimy substance spewing out of a green core with a horrendous odor is rejected by all the Paladins, which cause Lana and Blue to cover their noses.
"Coran, you just got me hooked on that goo and now you're switching it up?" Asked Hunk frowning at Coran.
"This is packed with nutrients." Said Coran feeling proud what he cooked, Hunk leaned over and smells it.
"Oh, it smells disgusting!" Said Hunk and Coran leaned over and smells it, but he seemed to like it.
"I know, that's how you know it's healthy!" Said Coran looking at Hunk.
'No, that's how you know it's disgusting.' Said Blue groaning at the smell.
Red leans closer to the food, but as soon as he smells it, it was so disgusting that Red ended up passing out from the smell and fall on his back, and which shock everyone.
'Red Lion down, Red Lion down!' Shouted Blue running towards Red. 'Red, you okay?'
Blue gently place her paws on Red's head and shook it to wake Red up, but it was no use, so she grab Red's neck by the mouth as she drags him across the room, with Keith and Lana following them.
"Hmm, maybe the Red Lion fainted from how delicious my Paladin lunch is." Said Coran smiling at his cooking.
'Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Red didn't faint because it was delicious.' Said Yellow looking at Hunk.
"Coran, we're on a planet now with fresh herbs, spices, and whatever this thing is, a tuber?" Said Hunk showing Coran a plant he found and picked from outside. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to head back to the kitchen and spice things up."
'I'm going with you, I can't stand that smell, and I don't back out from food.' Said Yellow following Hunk to the kitchen.
"Where's Pidge?" Asked Shiro noticing that Pidge is not in the room.
'And where is Green?' Asked Black looking around the room.
"He's probably checking on those prisoners we rescued from Zarkon with the Green Lion, they'll all be waking soon in the infirmary." Said Coran and Shiro stands up from his seat to go see Pidge, when Coran came to him with a fork of blob. "Open the hatch, food lion coming in!"
"No, just. . . No." Said Shiro in disgust as he and Black walk away to the infirmary.
"You don't know what you're missing!" Said Coran as he look at Shiro.
'I'm pretty everyone wants to miss that.' Said Black cringing in disgust about Coran's food.
Lana and Keith were trying to wake the Red Lion up, but it was no use since Red passed out completely from the oder of Coran's Paladin lunch. So Blue licks Red's face a few times, and Red began to wake up.
'Ugh, what happened?' Asked Red still feeling a bit dazed off.
'You passed out from smelling Coran's Paladin lunch.' Said Blue looking at Red.
"Well, seems like Red is okay." Said Keith checking on his lion.
"Yeah, seems like the smell really knock him out." Said Lana looking at the Red Lion.
'Ugh, that smell was so horrible, there no one way no one can handle it.' Said Red getting up and he cringed a bit.
'Yeah, tell me about it.' Said Blue agreeing with Red.
Meanwhile in the Sleeping Chamber, Pidge was waiting impatiently for the prisoners to wake up, while the Green Lion lays beside him, and Rover hovers up at them, then Shiro enter the room with Black besides him.
"You're as anxious as me." Said Shiro looking at Pidge.
"These aliens we saved know something about my family, they have to!" Said Pidge looking at the aliens.
"I hope so." Said Shiro looking at the aliens as well.
'I see that you are in here as well Green.' Said Black looking at Green as he sits next to her.
'Yes, Pidge has been anxious since these aliens know Shiro, meaning that they might know what happen to his family.' Said Green looking at Pidge. 'He's been really worried about his family.'
'I don't blame your Paladin, the Galra have been doing these awful for 10,000 years, so I guess he'll do anything to find them.' Said Black understanding Pidge's pain.
"They recognized you, didn't they?" Asked Pidge looking at Shiro. "They called you "Champion," what does that even mean?"
"I don't know, I can't remember very much from that time." Said Shiro looking anxious. "The way those guys looked at me when we freed them. . . I don't know if I want to find out."
Suddenly the pod containing the Xi, who recognized Shiro, opens, causing Pidge and Shiro to look, along with the Black and Green Lions, and the Xi woke up.
Back in the dining hall, Hunk brings Keith and Lana visibly appealing and tastier food, and sets them on the table. Then began wolfing the food down while Coran watches. Then Keith went for one of the bowls, till Lana snatch it away from him.
"Seriously Keith, don't you have any table manners at all?" Asked Lana eating properly while Keith growled at her a bit and continued eating. "Mmm, Hunk this is delicious."
Hunk blush at the compliment from his best friend, he even made some food for the Lions, and they start wolfing down the food, and Allura enter the room.
"They like the paladin lunch!" Said Allura smiling at the Paladins.
"I don't want to talk about it." Said Coran looking offended that they rejected his food.
"I just got the final nebulon booster working, we should be able to leave Planet Arus tomorrow and take the fight to Zarkon." Said Allura informing Coran.
Suddenly Castleship alarms began to blare. Keith and Lana stop eating, along with the others Lions as they stand guard. Allura brings up a screen showing a small alien approaching the Castle.
"What is that?" Asked Keith looking cautious.
"I don't know what it is, maybe it's a local Arusian." Said Allura seeing the creature. "He's approaching the Castle."
Allura, Coran, Keith, Lance, and Hunk, along with the lions, all watched as the small alien approached the castle, jumping from rock to rock. He seem to be short, with yellow skin and a thick, flat tail, as well as curling horns that looked almost like a shell on his head, and he held a small sword as he hid in the bushes.
"Aw, that things kinda cute, it doesn't look too dangerous." Said Lana smiling at the creature.
'I agree, he looks so adorable.' Said Blue smiling at the alien species.
"You never know." Said Keith taking out his bayard.
'He's right, he might be a threat to us.' Said Red getting his stance ready.
"No. Alteans believe in peace first. Let's go welcome them." Said Allura heading to the entrance of the castle with Coran.
"That's adorable." Said Hunk following the two Altean's.
'I agree, he even looks adorable with that cute little sword.' Said Yellow following Hunk.
"Hey, maybe we can knit him a little sweater!" Said Lana following them.
'Maybe he might like a hug as well.' Said Blue following Lana.
"I'm not taking any chances." Said Keith following them with his Bayard still in his hand.
'Me neither, it could be a trap.' Said Red agreeing with Keith and follows.
So the doors of the castle began to open before them, which cause alien to gasped and ducked behind the bushes, and the Paladins, Altean's, and Lion approach where he is hiding.
"Greetings, we know you're there, no harm will come to you." Said Allura and the alien jumps out and brandishes his sword.
"Wait, he could be dangerous!" Said Keith standing between the alien and Allura with his Bayard ready, with Red getting ready as well. "Drop your weapon!"
"No one takes Klaizap's weapon!" Said the alien named Klaizap gripping his sword.
"Keith, put that away!" Said Lana steeping forward and pulling Keith away, with Blue pulling Red back.
"Please, kind sir, accept my most humble apologies." Said Allura looking at Keith and Keith relents.
"Yeah, he always act before he thinks." Said Lana giving Keith a look.
'Same goes with Red here.' Said Blue agreeing with Lana and Klaizap calm down.
"I am Klaizap, bravest of our warriors, our village is over Gazrel Hill, I come seeking answers as to why the Lion Goddess is angered with her followers." Said Klaizap explaining to Allura.
"Followers?" Asked Coran in confusion.
"Lion Goddess?" Asked Hunk looking confused as well.
"The one the ancients spoke of." Said Klaizap gesturing to a carving of a Lion-headed deity being worshiped by Arusians.
"What makes you think she's angered?" Asked Allura looking at Klaizap.
"Destruction is everywhere, the the past few suns, fire has rained from the heavens and a giant has danced in the sky." Said Klaizap explaining.
"I think he's talking about Voltron." Whisper Hunk to Lana.
"Yeah, I got it." Whisper Lana to her best friend, and Allura smile at Klaizap.
"You have not angered the Lion Goddess." Said Allura smiling softly.
"How can you be certain?" Asked Klaizap looking curious
"Because I am Allura and this is my Castle." Said Allura smiling softly at Klaizap.
"Lion Goddess!" Said Klaizap bowing at Allura.
"Please, bravest warrior, take us to your village so that we may meet our neighbors." Said Allura smiling at Klaizap.
"What about our mission to get off this planet and fight Zarkon?" Asked Keith looking at Allura.
"Part of the Paladins' mission is to spread peace and diplomacy. Arus has been our host for 10,000 years. These people deserve our thanks." Said Allura as Klaizap start to lead them to his village.
Meanwhile back in the castle, Shiro and Pidge tend to the awakened prisoners in the Castle's Sleep Chamber, as they gave them blankets and warm drinks.
"So, how long were you held captive by Zarkon?" Asked Pidge giving the XI a cup of tea.
"Some for years. . . Decades, maybe, it's hard to tell, time becomes a blur." Said the XI sipping the warm drink.
"Then you must have been there when my dad and brother arrived, Sam and Matt Holt?" Asked Pidge looking at XI.
"I never knew their names, but I certainly remember the other two Earthlings that arrived with Champion." Said the XI looking at Shiro.
"Champion," why do you keep calling me that?" Asked Shiro still looking confused.
"You really don't remember? Unbelievable! You were a legendary gladiator, undefeated in the ring. You defeated an infamous Galra gladiator known as Myzax. That was the day you earned the name "Champion." I was there, as was the young Earthling." Said the XI explaining what happened during their time as prisoners. "We were all prisoners, forced to fight for the entertainment of Zarkon. That day, we were set to fight Myzax, a vile beast many thought could never be defeated. Slaughter awaited us all. This 'Matt' was the first of us sent to fight. But fate had other plans. You were so thirsty for blood, you injured your fellow Earthling."
Shiro got shock and didn't understand why will ever attack Matt. Pidge was also shock and looks at Shiro with an enraged look.
"You attacked my brother. . . Why?" Asked Pidge looking enraged.
"No, it can't be true." Said Shiro who believe it's right.
"I was there, we all were." Said the alien explaining.
"After my brother was injured, where was he taken?" Asked Pidge looking at the XI.
"I know not." Said the alien as he look at Pidge.
"I don't believe it. There's got to be more to the story. I couldn't have hurt my friend." Said Shiro realizing something. "Wait. That ship we were held captive on crash-landed on this planet. They'll have logs of prisoners, some information."
"I'm coming with you." Said Pidge following Shiro.
So Shiro and Pidge go to the Galra Warship to get the information, along with the Black and Green Lions following their paladins.
Meanwhile the Red Lion, Yellow Lion, and Blue Lion brought Allura, Coran, Klaizap, and the three respective Paladins to the Arusian village. Hunk and Lana happily greets the adorable locals, along with their Lions, although Keith appears out of place and disinterested, including Red.
"Oh, Lion Goddess, I, King of the Arusians, formally beg your forgiveness." Said King Atorm bowing at Allura. "Please have mercy on us and accept our traditional Dance of Apology as atonement for our wrongdoings!"
So the Arusian began to perform the Apology dance. The Paladins and Lions were all amazed at the dance as they all think it's really cute, and Allura smile at them.
"Please, there's no need for this." Said Allura smiling at the Arusians.
"Moontow, halt!" Said King Atorm and the music stop. "The Goddess has refused the apology, start the sacrificial fire, we must throw ourselves in."
"Wait no. . . No sacrifices!" Said Allura stopping the Arusians.
"So, we may proceed with the dance?" Asked King Atorm looking at Allura.
"That's a better alternative." Said Allura smiling.
So the Arusian's continued their dance, as Allura, the Paladins, and the Lions were all relieved that there is no sacrifice, after the dance, the Arusians bow to Allura.
"Oh, my! Please, please, rise. Thank you for that, but I am not a great being worthy of your worship. I accidentally put you all in danger. It is I who should be apologizing to you." Said Allura smiling at the Arusians. "I am Princess Allura and these are the Voltron Paladins. Although we originally came from different worlds... and have very, very, very different traditions, we wish to live alongside you as friends."
"But the mighty robotic angel. . . Has it not come to destroy us because of our immoral ways?" Asked King Atorm looking at Allura.
"Voltron, no, in fact, that mighty robot is here to protect you, let it be known that Voltron will protect every innocent being throughout the universe!" Said Allura smiling at the Arusians.
The Arusians cheer and celebrate by hugging the team and the lions. Hunk and Lance hug the Arusians back as the Blue and Yellow Lion snuggle the Arusians. Keith and the Red Lion tried to leave but an Arusian clings to Keith.
"I don't usually hug strangers, but. . . Man, you are cuddly." Said Keith placing his hand on the Arusians head.
"Thank you." Said the male Arusians in a deep voice.
Keith's face became shock when he heard that deep voice, and Lana laugh at Keith's face and one of the little Arusian girls place a blue flower on her long hair, and she smile at her for her kindness, even some little Arusian's girls made a blue flower necklace for Blue and place it around her neck, and Blue smile as she snuggle her head on the Arusian's cheeks, Keith blush at how the flower compliments Lana's beauty, how her hair flows with the flowers, and her laugh makes his heart beat go fast, even Red blush at how the flower necklace makes Blue's beauty shine from the sun.
Meanwhile the Green and Black Lions landed right by the fallen Galra ship. Then Pidge and Shiro enter the ship to investigate.
"This looks like the master control board, but there's no power." Said Pidge looking at the computer.
"All you need is power?" Asked Shiro looking at Pidge.
"Yeah, but one that's compatible with Galra tech." Said Pidge checking the computer.
When Pidge mention that, Shiro activates his prosthetic arm and powers up the computer by touching it.
"Whoa. . . I can't believe you got this to work." Said Pidge looking impressed and starts downloading the data. "My dad's and Matt's whereabouts must be logged in here somewhere, once I download this information, I'll find some way to decode it back at the Castle."
As Pidge download the information in his data from the Galra computer, Shiro hears a rumble sound and looks up from to see something falling from the sky.
"What. . . Oh, no." Said Shiro in cautious.
"What is it?" Asked Pidge looking at Shiro
"Something just entered the atmosphere, I'm not sure what it is, but it's big, it's Galra, and it's coming right for us, we gotta go!" Said Shiro tries to leave, lifting his hand. But Pidge slams it down.
"Shiro, don't move, I'm only 15 percent done,I'm not going anywhere." Said Pidge continuing to download the information.
Shiro sighted as he eyes the incoming spacecraft getting closer and realizing they cannot wait for the download to finish.
"Pidge, I'm sorry!" Said Shiro grabbing Pidge.
"No!" Shout Pidge as Shiro taken off with his jetpack.
"Team, come in, we need backup. . . Hello?" Said Shiro communicating in his helmet.
Meanwhile back the Arusian village, Allura plays with the Arusians while Keith watches, till Shiro's voice relays over her communication earrings.
"Hello." Said Shiro through Allura's communication earrings
"Shiro?" Asked Allura getting concerned.
"Where is everyone?" Yelled Shiro through Allura's communication earrings.
"What's going on?" Asked Keith looking at Allura.
'Keith, I think hearing something.' Said Red feeling something dangerous.
Suddenly the incoming spacecraft causes rumbling across the surface of Arus, and Keith and Allura finally see the threat.
"Oh no, we gotta get to our lions!" Said Keith as all the Arusians start running for safety.
"Everyone get inside and stay down!" Said Allura informing the Arusians.
"I'm on it!" Said Hunk trying to follow the Arusian's.
'Me too!' Said Yellow following as well till Keith stop Hunk and Red stop Yellow.
"Not you!" Said Keith as he drag Hunk and Hunk whined.
'You either Yellow, we need to stop the thing!' Said Red dragging Yellow with his teeth and Yellow whined.
Meanwhile back at the Galra Warship, Shiro have gotten him and Pidge out of the ship, but Pidge was struggling to get out of Shiro's grip.
"No, Shiro, let me go, my father!" said Pidge till they see the Galra spacecraft is on a collision course with the warship..
"Run!" Shouted Shiro looking at Pidge.
Shiro and Pidge use their jetpacks to escape the collision, but just as they were almost about to be crushed by the Galra spacecraft, the Green Lion and Black Lion suddenly appear to protect them from the blast.
'I got you!' Said Green as she and Black shield Shiro and Pidge.
'That was a close call!' Said Black looking at Shiro. 'Are you alright, Shiro?'
"You just saved us, thank you Black." Said Shiro smiling at Black.
"Yeah, thanks girl, I didn't know you could do that, but I'm grateful." Said Pidge till he saw the object. "Um, Shiro?"
Pidge points to the Galra spacecraft, as it opens to reveal the Galactic Gladiator Haggar have created. The Galactic Gladiator starts up and notices Shiro.
"Get in your lion!" Shouted Shiro as he and Pidge enter their lions.
'Black, what are we dealing with here?' Asked the Green Lion looking concerned about the Galactic Gladiator.
'If I have to guess, I say we're dealing with the Galra!' Said the Black Lion growling at the Galactic Gladiator. 'Let's try to fight it, until the other lions get here.'
Shiro and Pidge enter their Lions just in time to dodge the attacks from the Robeast's powerful energy orb that it can charge up and remotely control. Then Pidge attempts to stop the orb by using the Green Lion's mouth cannon, but it wasn't powerful enough, and the orb strikes Green, sending it crashing to the planet's surface.
As the Galactic Gladiator charges at the Green Lion, Shiro tries to stop it with the Black Lion but fails, but it somehow manages to stall the Robeast long enough as the other Paladins to arrive in their Lions.
'I hope we're not late.' Said Red seeing the situation and shoot at the robotic creature.
"Lay down some covering fire so they can get out of there!" Shout Keith blasting at the Robeast.
"I'm on it, let's do it Blue!" Shouted Lana as she and Blue blast the robotic creature.
'You got it, Lana!' Said Blue attacking the Galactic Gladiator.
"Check this out. . . Battle-lion head-butt!" Said Hunk charges the Yellow Lion at the Robeast and knocks it forward.
'Aw yeah, now that's what I called a head-butt!' Said Yellow smirking about his attack.
"You guys okay down there?" Asked Keith looking concerned for Shiro and Pidge.
'Black, Green, are you okay?' Asked Red looking concerned as well for Black and Green.
"Still alive for now." Said Shiro replying while recovering from the attack.
'We're doing fine, but I believe we won't be if we don't stop this thing!' Said Black as he and Green join the other Lions.
"Are the Galra behind this?" Asked Hunk nervously.
"I think so, but I've never seen anything like it." Said Shiro looking at the Galactic Gladiator.
"So, what's the plan?" Asked Lana looking anxious. "Shoot at it with everything we've got? Take out its weapon? Call it names?"
"If we want to take this monster down, there's only one way to do it." Said Shiro as Black began to roar knowing what Shiro meant. "Form Voltron!"
The five Lions roar as they came together and the team merged into Voltron, and look at the robotic creature.
"Remember, we are one unit, fighting with one goal." Said Shiro as he respond to the rest of the team.
'Shiro is right, my pride, we must fight together in order to defeat it.' Said Black responding to the other lions.
As Voltron charges in to attack, the Robeast fires another energy orb. Voltron dodges and then swings a punch with the Red Lion, but the punch is caught in the Robeast's gauntlet. The Paladins adapt by striking another punch using the Green Lion and knocking the Robeast back.
Voltron leaps into the air and slams both Lion fists down, but the Galactic Gladiator blocks the strike and calls its energy orb to return, slamming Voltron into the ground with the powerful orb from behind. But they somehow mange to dodge the second hit narrowly avoided abd on the run from the dangerous attacks.
"I thought Voltron was the most powerful weapon in the universe!" Shouted Keith looking frustrated.
'Well, we are not right now, since we're getting beaten.' Said Red getting frustrated.
"Yeah, so how is this monster kicking our butts?" Asked Hunk getting confused.
'My guesses that the Galra must've done really well with their advance technology.' Said Yellow figuring out.
Distracted by the energy orb for a brief moment, Voltron is body slammed by the Galactic Gladiator and lands near the Arusian village, and Blue notice it first.
'Oh no, Lana look!' Said Blue and Lana saw the Arusian Village.
"Oh no, the Arusian Village, guys we have to protect them!" Shouted Lana to the others.
"Lana is right, we need to lure the creature away from the village!" Said Shiro luring the Galactic Gladiator away from the Arusian Village.
Meanwhile at the Arusian Village, Allura was with the rest of the Arusians in an underground cave away from the battle, as everything shook from the two robots fight, and Allura cradle a handful of Arusians and comforting them as they were really scared, and she only prayed that the Paladins defeat the Galactic Gladiator.
Meanwhile back at the battle, The Galactic Gladiator fires an energy orb. Voltron takes the hit, narrowly misses landing on the village, and flies off to lure the Robeast away from the village, and the Galactic Gladiator follows Voltron.
"That was close!" Said Shiro as he sight.
'Tell me about it, one wrong move, and the village would've been destroyed.' Said Black agreeing with Shiro.
"We got him away from the Arusians, but we can't take him down!" Said Pidge as he look worried.
'I know, this creature is really taking us down.' Said Green groaning from the attack.
"I got it, Blue and I are going to power-kick that orb thing!" Said Lana suggesting her idea.
'Good idea, Lana.' Said Blue getting ready to kick.
"No, the last time you did a kick, we fell!" Shouted Keith as he frowned.
'Yeah Blue, I don't want a repeat of that!' Said Red frowning at Blue.
"I know, but it might be our best chance, besides do you have any better ideas?" Shouted Lana frowning and Keith stay silence. "That's what I thought."
'Besides Red, we have no other choice, since punches don't seem to have an effect on it.' Said Blue frowning at Red who stays quiet.
So Voltron proceeds to jump into the air and come down to the Galactic Gladiator in a kicking motion, but the orb somehow flies past them, but Lana pushed forward her controls to kick the orb, only to be shock by it and Voltron fall the ground.
"Okay, that was a bad idea!" Said Lana groaning from the orb.
'Okay, so punches and kicks are not working!' Said Blue groaning in pain.
"Pidge, fire lasers now!" Said Shiro instructing Pidge.
"Got it!" Said Pidge but he summons Voltron's shield instead. "Oops!"
'Pidge, we accidentally activated the shield instead!' Shouted Green realized the wrong weapon.
"No. . . Lasers. . . Lasers!" Shouted Shiro correcting Pidge
Pidge scrambles through his computer to dismiss the shield, but the orb slammed into the shield, and the robotic creature came at them from the opposite side of Voltron, causing to body-slam them.
"I don't understand, every very time we focus on that orb, we're blindsided by the monster, and every time we focus on the monster, the orb hits us!" Said Hunk panicking at the situation.
"Then what do we do?" Asked Lana looking concerned.
"Orb!" Shouted Hunk warning the others and raised the shield.
"Shiro, we gotta move, Shiro, are you there. . . Shiro!" Shouted Keith to get Shiro to attention.
Then the energy orb blindsides Voltron, knocking them into a cliff. Shiro look at the Galactic Gladiator as the orb have return to it. When the orb made contact and did a sound, Shiro recalls memories and recognizes the Robeast as Myzax, from the Gladiator Ring.
"That sound... I recognize this monster from my time in Zarkon's prison. I know how to beat him!" Said Shiro explaining to the team.
Then the Galactic Gladiator was about to strike them, but Shiro recognizes the attack from his memories and easily dodges with Voltron from the attacks.
"Listen, there's a loud sound when the orb returns to the base of the weapon, and every third time, that orb needs to charge up. That's this monster's weakest point. That's when we strike." Said Shiro explaining the team.
"Okay, so what do we do in the meantime?" Asked Hunk looking concerned at the situation.
"Defense!" Shout Shiro and the Galactic Gladiator throws an energy orb. "Pidge, we need that shield!"
So Pidge and Green immediately raised the shield as the orb have made contact with them, and hits the shield and went back to the robotic creature.
"That's one, two more to go!" Shout Shiro seeing the orb and another strike hits the shield.
"We can't take much more!" Said Hunk grunting from the hit of the orb.
"Last one, everyone brace for impact!" Shout Shiro and the orb hit the shield, causing it breaking it apart. "Now!"
So Voltron raised their arm and Keith fires the Red Lion's mouth cannon to the Galactic Gladiator. The strike lands but the Galactic Gladiator still stands, as if it didn't have affect on it.
"It didn't work!" Said Pidge looking worried.
"So, now what?" Said Lana looking worried as well.
Then the Galactic Gladiator launch the orb at then again, so they raised the shield to block the orb, causing them to stumble and throwing off their balance, and it motion Shiro to remember another memory.
"When I attacked him before, I had a sword!" Said Shiro remembering his time at Gladiator Rings.
"Orb. . . Orb!" Shouted Hunk as the orb comes in for another hit and Voltron stumble.
"We can't take another shot like that!" Said Pidge grunting from the strike.
"Pidge is right, one more hit and we are finished!" Said Lana getting worried about the situation.
'My Paladin, use your bayard' Said Red displaying the Bayard keyhole and Keith realized what it's tell long him.
"Wait a second, guys, I think my lion's telling me what to do." Said Keith informing the team.
"Well whatever it is, hurry up and do it, he's about to fire his third shot!" Said Lana warning Keith.
So Keith tries to use his Bayard in the Bayard keyhole, but the energy orb hits a third time, shaking Voltron a bit as they brace for impact. Then the Galactic Gladiator jumps in the air to deliver a final blow to Voltron, but Keith inserts his Bayard into the Red Lion's keyhole console and summons a saber sword for Voltron to wield, slicing the Robeast once, after a few second, the Galactic Gladiator explodes, as it is destroyed.
"YES!" Shouted the Paladins and Lions cheering that the Galactic Gladiator is defeated.
"Yes, we did it!" Said Pidge smiling at their victory.
'Heck yeah we did, we had minor damages, but we defeated it.' Said Green happy that the fight is over.
"How did you do that?" Asked Hunk feeling amazed.
"Whoa." Said Keith looking stunned as he looks at his Bayard, but smiles at the Red Lion. "Thanks, Red."
Red purred softly as they all disbanded and starts flying back to the castle to check up on the Galra prisoners.
Back at the Galra Empire's Central Command, Haggar has witnesses her Robeast fail and destroyed thanks to Voltron, and she was so furious as her eyes glow brightly.
"NO!" Shouted Haggar in anger and looks at Zarkon. "I'll make another, more powerful.
"That won't be necessary." Said Zarkon looking Haggar. "Sendak is still alive on Arus, I've given him instructions for how to proceed."
"Can he be trusted?" Asked Haggar having doubts about Sendak.
"I trained him and he has his mission, he fights in the name of Galra, only success or death will stop him." Said Zarkon with a serious look.
Meanwhile back at Planet Arus, at the hillside from the Arusian Village, Sendak and Haxus have survived the crash after being defeated by Voltron, Sendak watch over the Arusian Village, while the five remaining Sentries gather supply crates for Sendak and Haxus near the Arusian village.
"Zarkon has challenged us to rise from the mud and prove our worth, we will not let him down." Said Sendak with a evil smirk.
"Sir, how are we going to take the Castle with just the two of us and five damaged sentries?" Asked Haxus looking confused of the situation.
"By exploiting our enemy's weaknesses." Said Sendak smirking evilly.
"What weaknesses?" Asked Haxus looking at Sendak.
"The worst weakness of all." Said Sendak looking at the Arusians. "They value the lives of others."
Inside the Castle of Lions, the former Galra prisoners prepare to leave in a flight pod, that Coran and Allura set for them to go back home. Everyone but Shiro, Pidge, the Black Lion, and Green Lion see them leave.
"Good luck out there." Said Lana smiling at the former Galra prisoners.
"Thank you all for everything, we never dreamed we'd see our families again, but you gave us hope, you gave the universe hope." Said the XI smiling at the paladins.
So the former Galra prisoners entered the pod, and as the podbay door opened, and the pod shot out, quickly disappearing in the distance as they freed aliens all went back home.
Meanwhile outside of the Castle of Lions, Pidge sat on the edge of the bridge, while the Altean mice were sitting on his lap keeping him some company. Pidge watched the sun setting over the Arusian village, while petting the mice gently, and Shiro approached to him.
"Pidge, there you are." Said Shiro smiling at Pidge and sits next to him. "Mind if I join you?"
"Why would you hurt my brother?" Asked Pidge looking at Shiro with a sad look. "You were friends."
"I did it to save him." Said Shiro looking at Pidge.
"What?" Asked Pidge looking at Shiro with a shock look.
"My memory of the event came back when we were fighting the monster, your dad was being sent off with the weaker prisoners to a work camp." Said Shiro explaining Pidge everything that happened. "Meanwhile, Matt and I were forced to fight in the gladiator arena, Matt was going to fight first, but he was scared, we all were."
Flashback
All the Galra prisoners were all lined up, waiting for their time to go into the ring and fight for survival, Matt was at the very front, while Shiro is behind him, meaning that is almost Matt's turn to fight.
"I'm not going to make it, I'll never see my family again!" Said Matt looking scared for his life.
"You can do this." Said Shiro trying to calm Matt down and encourage him to be brave.
Then the door opened as a sentry came forward and held its weapon up to Matt, meaning that it's time for Matt to fight. Shiro look between Matt and the sentry, seeing how his friend is so scared, he knew what he had to do, so Shiro yelled as he charges at the sentry and grabbing the sword from it.
"This is my fight!" Shouted Shiro striking Matt injuring his leg. "I want blood!"
Matt was really scared at how Shiro is acting and attacking him like that, and then Shiro's face soften as he whisper something to Matt.
"Take care of your father." Whisper Shiro and it was the last thing before he went into the fight.
End of Flashback
After Shiro finished explaining everything that had really happen, Pidge felt his eyes welling up with tears as he look at Shiro.
"You saved him, you attacked him so they would choose you instead." Said Pidge in shock and hugs Shiro tightly. "I'm so sorry I doubted you, thank you, thank you so much!"
"I can tell you really miss them." Said Shiro as he hug Pidge back and smiles softly." I know they miss you, too, your brother and father would be proud of you, Katie."
Suddenly Pidge, who is actually known as Katie, eyes have widen as she look up at Shiro. The truth was that Pidge was actually a girl, and her really name was Katie Holt, but after her father and brother went missing, she change her appearance and goes undercover as Pidge Gunderson, and Shiro smile softly.
"Don't worry, your secret's safe with me." Said Shiro smile softly at Pidge.
Pidge smiles softly at Shiro as they look at the sunset of Arus and enjoy the view they are bestowing from the castle. But little did they know is that this fight they had is only just the beginning.
