"So, as you can see, Ms. CEO, I believe it would benefit all of us if we invested in this stock," said a businessman as several associates nodded. They were talking to a woman wearing a lavender business suit and miniskirt as she listened to this idea being brought to her attention. The woman removed her glasses and put her hand to her face to recollect her thoughts.
"So, let me get this straight? You'd rather risk the production of our company and all stockholders that we've invested in, all for the sake of increasing our profits by 25% by the end of our yearly quarter?" said the woman.
"Well, it wouldn't be just that. It would also include..."
"Sending out our product before it's fully tested, WHICH is against company policy!" shouted the woman as she pressed her finger against the table to emphasize her point.
"W-Well... I mean,"
"But nothing!" said the woman. "I pride myself on making sure this company does its job. And that includes testing all new cards before releasing them to the public! And I will not jeopardize the business I've worked so hard to create! Not even for an extra amount of profit!"
The men all feared the woman as she stood and glared at them through her glasses.
"Now then, gentlemen. If you value your jobs, you will continue to do so. Otherwise... the unemployment line is always available! Good day!" yelled the woman as she got up and slammed the door behind her to get her message through.
The woman straightened out her hair bun and skirt before walking forward. She walked through a door, and the sounds of people chattering, phones ringing, and computer sounds were in a roar. The woman was walking past some cubicles as employees held out some paperwork for her to sign; she merely pulled a pen out from behind her ear and signed them all while paying attention forward.
Some more employees approached her and began talking to her while she continued walking.
"Miss, We've got a problem with the main computer!"
"Our employees ran out of paper for the copy machine. And we need 1000 prints, stat!"
"Our delivery got delayed. And we promised our stockholders that we'd get them their shipment tomorrow!"
"I need a new pen!"
"I'll figure it out. There's more paper in the stockroom. Down the hall and third door on the left. Released the other order of cards we had backed up, which should tie us until our delivery arrives. Here you go." said the woman as she gave the employee the pen she had, and the others all left to do their jobs.
As they turned, she passed by an employee serving some cups of coffee, and the woman grabbed one of them. She brought it to her lips and enjoyed the taste before handing it off to another intern, who took it away while the woman kept walking. She approached an elevator as she pushed the button, and the door rang, signaling it opened. She got in, and it closed behind her as the elevator went up. One ding later, the door opened as she exited.
Workers were running about. Papers went flying in the air. Computers crunched logarithms as they ran the numbers. All the workers were panicking as the computer system was going haywire.
"What are we going to do?" asked one of the workers to his boss.
"Nothing we do works," said an employee.
"But... she can."
At that moment, everyone turned as they saw their boss. The woman appeared as she adjusted the necklace around her neck while approaching the machine.
"We're sorry, boss! We don't know what happened?" said one of the workers.
"We don't know to fix it!" said a female worker.
The woman looked at the mainframe as smoke was coming out. On the screen, there was an unhappy face.
"Did you run the diagnostics?"
"Already did. This is what came up," said another worker as she showed her partner.
"Ohh, it's one of those." The woman undid her bun and put her hair in a ponytail style.
"Not the ponytail!" said one of the workers murmuring.
"She only does that when it's a Code 8!" said another worker.
Their boss then rolled up the sleeves of her suit and began to type on the keyboard. Several mini-screens came up as they filled the larger screen. The woman's fingers were moving at lightning-fast speed with a set of focused eyes. The workers could see the gears grinding in their boss' brain as a bit of sweat rolled down her face. The woman then lifted her finger and pressed it down on a key. The screen then had the unhappy face turn green. The signal was full, and small pixels of monsters appeared. The digital version of a Duel Monster, by the name of High Priestess of Prophecy, appeared and gave a thumbs up to the woman and an emoji face smiling.
"Problem solved," said the CEO as she removed her glasses and did a hair flip. The crowd behind her cheered for taking care of the crisis. "Alright, everyone, back to work. Let's go, people!"
Everybody was now returning to their duties before the alarm went off. The woman put her glasses back on and walked to her office. She passed through a set of doors into another part of the massive building. She soon arrived at her office and approached her desk. The woman sat down in her chair and leaned back while sighing. She then grabbed one of her drawers and pulled it out as inside were several things. Among them was a duel disk, and next to that was her deck.
"Another fantastic crisis averted. My, how do you do it, Mrs. CEO?"
The woman heard that and looked up to see someone in her office. The person was none other than Isaac, leaning against the wall, seemingly waiting for the woman.
"It's quite easy, really," said the woman as she smiled and stood up. "So, when did you get here?" asked the woman as she leaned against her desk.
"I heard some shouting in the board room and figured you were about to fire someone. So, did you agree with them?" asked Isaac as he got up and approached the woman.
"Please. Those suits would have a better time asking me for my hand in marriage," scoffed the woman.
"Too bad, they can't do that either," smiled the World Champ.
"So, what's the reason you're here? I got about 20 or 30 minutes before my next meeting. Maybe we could get some in. Five rounds, potentially." said the woman seductively as she ran her finger along the man's shoulder before moving to his chest.
"Tempting. Very tempting," responded the man with a smile as he had his arm around the woman who enjoyed it. "But... there is something serious to talk about."
"What happened?" asked the woman as her tone changed to a serious one.
"And a little more of this...
And less of that...
And this piece makes no sense...
Unless it's upside-doooown!"
Izzy was in her workshop class as the girl was rhythmically muttering to herself.
"Now we're cooking," laughed the girl as she assembled some stuff.
The teen continued to attach stuff to the thing she was creating while clattering sounds were heard. It caught the attention of Hitch and Roll as the pair looked over to the girl's workstation as a power drill sound went off.
"Hey, Roll. What do you think Izzy's doing?" asked the boy as he wiped his hands with a rag to rid all the sawdust on them.
"Not a clue," the girl responded as she lifted her goggles. She brought some sandpaper and began to smooth out her wood sculpture. "What do you think?" asked Roll as she showed off the wooden stature she made.
"Nice. Check out what I created," said Hitch as he showed his creation he made.
"That's awesome."
"Thanks, wish Sunny was here to see it," said the boy as he placed his creation on his table.
"Don't worry. I'm sure she's having fun. Believe me. I have a feeling she's going to come back with a smile on her face." said Roll, as the hidden tone in her voice seemed to hint at something.
"What do you mean?" asked Hitch as he seemed to pick up on that.
Before he could press the girl any further, a sound behind them caught their attention. They, along with everybody in the class, turned as it seemed Izzy had caught the attention of everyone. The girl flipped a switch as the string of lights she attached to her toothpick Ferris wheel turned on. The thing began to spin as it lit up with some music playing to accompany it. The teacher approached the girl's table with a clipboard; Izzy winded some toys and let them go as they began to march in a line while playing their tiny instruments.
"Excellent work, Ms. Moonbow," said the teacher as the girl smiled upon hearing her professor's praise as he wrote down on his clipboard, giving her an A for her assignment.
"Man, Izzy really has a creative mind," said Hitch as he couldn't believe the girl could create all the stuff she showed to their teacher just using the supplies they were given.
In the office of Celestia, she was currently going over the final paperwork as Friends and Family Day was a mere four days away. And the selection for the exhibition duel she wanted to hold needed to be taken care of.
"And who are your selections, Ms. Applebloom?" asked Celestia through the phone as she had already received the nominations from the other dueling instructors on who they wanted to partake in the exhibition duel for Friends and Family Day.
"Unfortunately, with Ms. Storm's untimely incident, I've had to pull her from the selections."
"I doubt she'll like hearing that news," said Celestia, as she knew how much Zipp was looking forward to competing.
"With her recoverin' time goin' to cause her to miss performin' for Friends and Family Day, I've managed to select a few individuals," said Applebloom as the portraits of the teens she nominated appeared before Celestia's screen. One of which was Hitch.
"Very well. Then those three will move on to the final selection."
"Actual, Principal Celestia. I know we were asked to select three for the final evaluation. But if I may, I'd like to make a case for another student."
"Who do you have in mind?"
"Ms. Moonbow," said Applebloom as Izzy's portrait came onto the screen. "She's a smart individual. Very creative and inventive. She's shown improvement since day one."
Celestia clicked on Izzy's icon, which pulled up some school information on the girl.
"I would ask if she'd be given a chance. I believe she can handle this kind of opportunity," said Applebloom.
"I would let it, Ms. Applebloom. But unfortunately, you've already selected your three individuals."
"I know, which is why I've come up with a proposal. If you'll allow me," said the dueling instructor as Celestia sat back and listened.
Izzy was in her room as she had some goggles on and was at her desk. The girl was humming as she had a screwdriver in her hand and was taking apart something. Nearby was her Duel Disk as it began to beep. The girl heard it as she put her tool down and grabbed her device. She pushed the button as she had gotten some message. It was a simple message that informed her that her synchro class would all be doing practice duels for their class period tomorrow, and the woman was telling her students to bring their decks and Duel Disks.
The next morning came as Applebloom's Synchro class met with the professor on the soccer field. Zipp was sitting on the bleachers as she had no choice but to watch her classmates with an unenthusiastic tone, knowing she couldn't participate due to her injury. The woman then cleared her throat as she got the attention of her class.
"Alright, y'all, settle down," said Applebloom as she made her presence known. "First, as y'all know, Zipp is injured, and I've had to remove her from mah selection of duelists." said the professor to the students. "Now, everyone will pair up into groups and practice against each other. And I also have a special guest here."
The students needed clarification on what their dueling instructor meant, as making her presence known behind Applebloom was Principal Celestia. The teens all tensed up a bit at seeing their principal.
"I will be paying attention to these duels and making my own observations," said Celestia as she used her professional voice. That was all she gave as she walked off to watch from the side.
"Alright, y'all. Let's start!" stated Applebloom as she began to name off the pair match-ups she predecided and instructed her students to find their opponent and begin practice.
"I hope you know what you're doing, Ms. Applebloom," said Celestia to her employee.
Applebloom planned to have Izzy showcase her skills to allow Celestia to determine if Izzy should be considered for the exhibition duel. The teacher was nervous, hoping Izzy would impress her boss and not make her look foolish.
Izzy and Zoom were strapping on their Duel Disks on the field as they pulled out their decks.
"Good luck, Izzy!"
"Thanks!" responded Izzy as she appreciated her friend's support.
"Ready?" asked Zoom.
"Ready," responded the girl.
"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel."
Izzy's Life Points: 8000-
Zoom's Life Points: 8000-
Turn 1: Izzy (Hand 5)
"Okay, let's see..." muttered Izzy as she drew her card and looked at her opening hand. "I'll start with this card, a field spell. Scrap Factory."
A giant building began to appear and rose behind Izzy. One end had a treadmill filled with tons of metal that a crane from a nearby pile was dumping. A few windows showed a giant pot of molten lava inside while a few more arms were working on the metal.
"Next, I'll summon Scrap Recycler(900/1200) in defense mode," said Izzy. A small tin-can monster on wheels appeared with a metal arm as it was picking up some pieces of metal. "And thanks to my field spell, my monster gets 200 points to both stats (900/1200 1100/1400). And then my monster's ability activates; since it was summoned, I send one Machine-type monster from my deck to my graveyard."
Izzy used the interface as it showed her entire deck, and she selected her choice. Her Duel Disk ejected the card from her deck to grab as the auto shuffler kicked in while she sent the monster she chose away.
"I then place one card facedown and end my turn," said the girl.
Turn 2: Zoom (Hand 5)
"My turn!" said the girl as she drew her card. "I'll begin by summoning my Blackwing - Jetstream the Blue Sky(100/800)." A bird appeared as it soared high before hovering in front of Zoom. "And don't forget, birds of a feather like to flock together. Appear, Blackwing - Oroshi the Squall(400/600)!" Another bird appeared as it landed on the girl's shoulder.
"Now, what do you say we take things to the next level? I tune my Oroshi the Squall with my Jetstream the Blue Sky!" declared Zoom as her tuner monster turned into a single giant green ring that circled her other monster. "Show her how we turn the power of flight into the power of fight! I Synchro Summon! Assault Blackwing - Sayo the Rain Hider(800/100)!" Out emerged a small bird wearing some clothing with a small katana. "Next, I'm activating the equip spell card, Charging Blade! And it's charging Sayo's attack points by 800 (800 1600)! But that's not all this equip spell does. Since I synchro summoned Sayo, it deals 800 points of damage!" Sayo then used its blade as it made a slash attack that headed toward Izzy, who put her Duel Disk up to protect herself.
Izzy's Life Points: 7200-
"Oops, forgot one thing. Since I used Oroshi to Synchro summon, I can change the battle position of a monster on the field. So I'll switch your monster from defense to attack mode!" smiled Zoom as Izzy's monster changed stances. "Now, Sayo, attack her Scrap Recycler!"
Sayo charged ahead as it used its katana and, with one fell swoop, brought it down on the machine like a line going down the middle before it exploded.
Izzy's Life Points: 6700-
"I'll end my turn," smiled Zoom.
Turn 3: Izzy (Hand 3)
"My move. And I summon Scrap Kong(2000/1000)." A gorilla appeared made entirely of junk and began to make a mighty cry (2000/1000 2200/1200). "Now my monster's ability activates. Since I normal summoned it, it's destroyed."
"Huh?" said Zoom.
The gorilla banged its chest, and seconds later, it fell apart into a pile. The crane grabbed the metal pile and put it on the treadmill as it entered the factory. Izzy's Duel Disk was now beeping as she had several prompts. The girl looked at her screen as she began to click on them.
"First, since my Scrap Kong was destroyed due to the effect of a 'Scrap' monster, I can add one 'Scrap' monster from my graveyard to my hand. So I'll take back my Scrap Recycler. Then my field spell activates. Since a card effect destroyed my Kong, I can summon a different 'Scrap' monster from my deck. So I choose my Scrap Golem(2300/1400)!"
The factory behind Izzy released some steam as the machine arms began to speed up. Soon the sound of the fire was heard as emerging from the other end of the factory was a golem-like monster made of recycled parts, with its main body being a refrigerator (2300/1400 2500/1600).
"Remember, my field spell gives my Golem 200 more attack and defense points. Now, I activate my Golem's ability. Once per turn, I can summon one Level 4 or lower 'Scrap' monster from my graveyard to either player's field. So I'm bringing back my Scrap Kong!"
Izzy's Golem brought its hand to open its refrigerator body as inside was her gorilla, who let out a sound before jumping out and landing on the field with a thud.
"Now, I'll have my Scrap Golem attack your Sayo!" instructed Izzy as her giant monster started to reel its fist back.
"Well, you're not the only one who has a monster with a special ability. Sayo's ability makes it he can't be destroyed in battle twice!" said Zoom.
"True, but you still take damage," smiled Izzy.
Her Golem thrust its hand out and made contact with the small bird. Sayo used its katana to defend itself before it was pushed back.
Zoom's Life Points: 7100-
"Now, Scrap Kong, your turn!"
Izzy's monster began to charge forward as it leaped into the air. Zoom's monster looked up and saw the gorilla coming down with its left fist. It bashed into Sayo, who defended itself with its katana and was pushed back.
Zoom's Life Points: 6500-
"I end my turn."
"Huh, not bad, Izzy," muttered Hitch as he peeked over from his duel and noticed the girl and how well she was doing.
Turn 4: Zoom (Hand 3)
"I'll summon Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind(1300/400)!" said Zoom as she called on a bird with only a set of eyes, and the wind began to blow around it. "Gale's ability allows me to cut in half the stats of one of your monsters. So your Golem is about to get powered down!"
Izzy's giant monster began to have its gears slowly grind as it started to show signs of rust, and a few pieces fell apart (2500 1250).
"Now, I tune my Level 3 Gale the Whirlwind with my Sayo!" declared Zoom as her monsters took to the air. Her tuner monster turned into three giant green rings that circled Sayo as a pillar of light shot through. "There's a storm coming, and with it comes a deluge of destruction! I Synchro Summon! Assault Blackwing - Sohaya the Rain Storm(1500/2000)!" Zoom now had a fierce-looking bird warrior on her field as it wore armor and wielded a long sword.
"What's the point in summoning that?" asked Izzy, seeing as Zoom didn't have her Sayo attack her weakened Golem.
"Since I synchro summoned Sohaya, I can now bring back another Assault Blackwing from my graveyard! Come... Sayo the Rain Hider!" Zoom's monster then pointed its sword into the ground as a portal opened, allowing Sayo to fly out and appear on her field. "And when it rains, boy, does it pour! Sohaya the Rain Storm counts as a tuner monster, meaning I can Synchro Summon again."
"Again?" said Izzy, clearly not knowing that.
"Afraid so! And the forecast for this duel is about to get even worse! I'm unleashing a storm of trouble!" Zoom then had Sayo turn into two giant green rings as they circled Sohaya as it flew into them. "I Synchro Summon! The turbulent Assault Blackwing - Raikiri the Rain Shower(2600/2000)!"
The winds died down to reveal the monster. It resembled a cross between a man and a raven, covered in bits of purple armor, a headpiece shaped like a bird's head, a pair of bird feet, feathered wings sprouting from his back, and a tunic covering his lower half. He drew his sword and released a war cry that sounded like a man yelling mixed with a raven's caw.
"I activate Raikiri's effect. So say goodbye to your Scrap Kong!" shouted Zoom as her monster stabbed the ground and caused it to open. Izzy's monster fell through as the ground closed up.
"My field spell activates again. Since your effect destroyed my monster, I can bring another 'Scrap' monster from my deck. So, I'll go with Scrap Raptor(1400/1000) this time." As it roared, a dinosaur appeared made of junk (1400/1000 1600/1200).
"Like that matters! Now, Raikiri! Slay that Golem!"
The winged raven-like man spread its wings out and took to the sky. It flew, brought its sword down on Izzy's Golem, and sliced it in half as it toppled over and exploded.
Izzy's Life Points: 5350-
"I'll then place one card facedown."
Turn 5: Izzy (Hand 4)
"My turn, I draw," stated Izzy as she began formulating her plan. "I'll start by summoning my Junk Anchor(0/0)."
"But it has zero attack and defense," stated Zoom, as she was unsure why the girl did that.
"My Junk Anchor now can substitute for any one 'Synchron' tuner monster of my choice. Next, I activate Junk Anchor's ability, so by discarding a card from my hand, I can target one non-tuner 'Junk' monster from my graveyard and summon it. So I choose to bring back my Scrap Golem!"
The ground behind Izzy began to rumble as her giant metal monster of pieces appeared.
"Next, I tune my Level 2 Junk Anchor with my Level 5 Scrap Golem!" Izzy's two monsters then leaped upward as her smaller monster turned into two giant green rings and circled her Golem. "The spirits merge to form the arrow that pierces the sky! I Synchro Summon! Ready your bow, Junk Archer(2300/2000)!" Izzy's monster appeared as it revealed its weapon and fired an upward arrow.
"I activate Junk Archer's ability. Now once per turn, I can banish one monster you control until the end phase. So Junk Archer, take aim at Raikiri. Bulleyes Banishing!" shouted the girl.
Izzy's monster pulled back on the string as it loaded an arrow. It fired, and the arrow traveled through the air and made contact with Zoom's monster as it disappeared in a blink of an eye.
"Now, Junk Archer, attack her directly."
This time, Izzy's monster pulled out another arrow and loaded it. With one pull of the string, it released the arrow and sent it flying toward Zoom, who felt the arrow pierce her shoulder as she clutched it temporarily before the pain faded.
Zoom's Life Points: 4200-
"Now, my Scrap Raptor will take a bite of your life points!" said Izzy.
"Don't think so! Since you declared a direct attack, I can summon my Blackwing - Ghibli the Searing Wind(0/1600)!" shouted Zoom as she summoned her bird who appeared before her and put its feather together to protect itself.
Izzy's monster stopped as the girl had to call back her attack.
"Oh, well. There's always next time. So... what do I do next?" wondered the girl as she looked at her field and hand to figure out her next move. "I'll play the spell card, Supply Squad. So thanks to this card, I get a free card whenever my monsters are destroyed. You know, recycling! And speaking of recycling. I'll recycle my monster with this, Scrapstorm. So I target my Scrap Raptor and then send a 'Scrap' monster from my deck to my graveyard. Which allows me to draw a card."
Izzy'd Duel Disk ejected the card she wanted to send away as she grabbed it and disposed of it, followed by her drawing the top card of her deck after the auto shuffler kicked in.
"Then my Raptor is destroyed," said Izzy as her monster broke into pieces.
The arm of her factory grabbed the pile of metal and dropped it onto the treadmill, and it rolled into the building.
"So now a couple of things. First, another free card because of my Supply Squad," smiled Izzy as she drew another card. "Then my factory's ability activates, allowing me to replace my monster with a new one from my deck. So I'll use my recycling skills and show off my latest project. Scrap Mind Reader(0/0 200/200)."
"Even with the boost, it's still weak," stated Zoom as she saw Izzy's new monster appear, which was a small robot.
"Yup. And... that's all. I end my turn. Oh, before I forget, your monster gets to come back." stated Izzy as Zoom's Raikiri reappeared before the girl.
Turn 6: Zoom (Hand 1)
"My draw! I summon Blackwing - Pinaki the Waxing Moon(1200/1000)!" A bird appeared with a small bow and wore a pirate headscarf. "Now I activate my Raikiri's ability; I can destroy as many cards up to the number of Blackwings I control. So since I got three present, you're two monsters and field spell are destroyed!"
With a snap of her fingers, Zoom had her monster strike the ground again, bringing a lightning bolt down onto Izzy's field. When she turned back, Izzy looked away, and her monsters and factory disappeared.
"Next, I tune my Level 3 Ghibli the Searing Wind with my Level 3 Pinaki the Waxing Moon!" Zoom's two birds took to the sky as her tuner monster turned into three giant green rings that circled her other monster, and a pillar of light shot through. "Say hello to Blackwing Armed Wing(2300/1000)!" shouted Zoom as a masked armored birdman wielding a rifle appeared.
"Now, Raikiri, attack her directly!" instructed the girl as her monster flew forward and raised its sword, looking to bring it down on Izzy.
"I reveal my facedown, Scapegoat!"
Four fuzzy little goats appeared, and each one was a different color. All four goats appeared before Izzy as they made some cute sounds.
"Now, you have to make it past my army of cute fuzzy furballs," said Izzy.
"Please. Raikiri, slice one of them up!" said Zoom as her monster took out one of Izzy's goats. "Now, Blackwing Armed Wing, your turn! And by the way, its special ability allows it to gain 500 attack points when it battles (2300 2800)."
"Go right ahead. My goats will still protect me."
"Think again! Cause Armed Wing's other ability allows it to deal piercing damage! So even if your monster's in defense mode, you're taking the brute of this attack, full force!" shouted Zoom as her monster fired its rifle, shot out a pillar of light that destroyed the yellow goat, and continued toward Izzy as she clutched her side momentarily.
Izzy's Life Points: 2550-
"I end my turn, and now Pinaki's ability activates, allowing me to add a 'Blackwing' from my deck to my hand," said Zoom as she used her Duel Disk screen to select the card she wanted, and it slid out for her to grab.
Turn 7: Izzy (Hand 3)
Izzy stood up from Zoom's attack and rubbed her side as she tried to refocus on the situation. The girl donned a smile that was half serious and half worried. The girl knew it would be over if she didn't bring out something this turn.
"My turn," stated the teen as she drew her card and looked at it. "I'll summon my Scrap Chimera(1700/500)." A lion appeared to have wings and a snake as its tail, made entirely of metal parts. "And since I normal summoned my Chimera, its special ability allows me to bring back a 'Scrap' tuner monster from my graveyard. So my Scrap Raptor returns." Izzy's metal dino appeared as it let out a fierce growl.
"Now, I tune my Level 4 Scrap Raptor with my Level 4 Chimera!" Izzy's dino turned into four giant green rings as they circled her other monster, which flew between them as a light surged. "I Synchro Summon! Rise, my metal beast! Scrap Dragon(2800/2000)!" From the sky, a shadow flashed. Soon it revealed a giant mechanical monster as steam was released from the pipes. A roar was heard as Izzy's metal-winged beast appeared, and it let some steam from its nostrils.
"Now, Scrap Dragon, attack her Raikiri!"
Izzy's beast began to open its mouth and fired a fireball toward Zoom's monster as it exploded into a storm of feathers.
Zoom's Life Points: 4000-
"Next, I'll play the spell card, Graceful Charity. So I draw three more cards and discard two." Izzy drew her cards as she looked at her current hand before deciding which ones to send away. "I end my turn by placing this facedown."
Turn 8: Zoom (Hand 2)
"My turn, and now, Blackwing Armed Wing, end this duel. Attack one of her Scapegoats! Remember, my monster gains 500 attack points when it battles!" said Zoom as her monster aimed its rifle and fired its shot.
"I do remember, which is why... I had this. I reveal my trap, Scrap-Iron Scarecrow! This allows me to negate your attack!" said Izzy as her facedown flipped up to reveal a scarecrow made of junk parts on a wooden pole appear and took the shot from Zoom's monster. "And instead of it going to the graveyard after using it, I can set it back down to use again later. Recycling!" expressed Izzy as she threw some glitter into the air.
"Great," groaned Zoom as she had another problem. "I end my turn."
Turn 9: Izzy (Hand 2)
"My turn and I'll activate my Scrap Dragon's ability. So I target one card you control and one card I control. So I choose your monster and my Scrapgoat spell card. Then I destroy them."
Zoom's eyes widened as she saw her only monster leave as she was now staring at Izzy's mechanical metal monster.
"Now my Squad Supply activates, so I draw a card. Now my dragon will attack!" commanded Izzy as her beast fired another fireball.
"Don't think I'm the only one taking damage this turn. I reveal my facedown, Blackwing - Twin Shadow! So I shuffle my Blackwing - Oroshi the Squall and my Assault Blackwing Raikiri back into my deck and Extra deck." said Zoom as her Duel Disk ejected the two cards from her graveyard slot as she, grabbed them, and sent her synchro monster to the Extra deck compartment of her device and placed her tuner monster on top of her deck as it shuffled.
"Now that I have, I can summon a Synchro monster from my Extra deck whose level equals the total of the two monsters I just got. So make way for... Black-Winged Dragon(2800/1600)!" A dragon's shadow was shown as its red eyes pierced through. It then fanned out the clouds from which it was hidden behind to reveal the beast covered in black feathers and let out a roar.
Izzy's dragon halted as it eyed the new monster. Both beasts roared and growled as they tried to size up the other to see who was stronger.
"So, what's it gonna be, Izzy? You gonna continue your attack?" taunted Zoom.
"I end my turn." said the girl as she stopped her assault.
Turn 10: Zoom (Hand 3)
"My draw! And I'll play the spell card, Against the Wind. So I can add my Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind back to my hand, as long as I take damage equal to its attack points." said Zoom as she felt some pain when a powerful wind blew in her face.
"What's the point in that?" asked Izzy, as she didn't see why Zoom would want to take damage just to add a single monster from her graveyard.
"Who says I'm gonna take the damage?" responded the girl. "Let me show you my Black-Winged Dragon's ability. If I were to take damage from a card effect, all I have to do is place one Black Feather Counter on my dragon. Which means I don't take the damage from my spell."
Zoom's dragon absorbed the lightning bolt meant to strike its master as it let out a painful growl. Something then happened as part of the feathers along its body turned pitch black.
"The downside is that every time I use that ability, my dragon loses 700 attack points," stated Zoom (2800 2100). "But it's all worth it. Watch. Cause I'm summoning my Gale the Whirlwind. And remember its ability; it can cut your monster's attack in half!" Another wind blew about the field, weakening Izzy's monster(2800 1400).
"Next, I activate the other ability of my Black-Winged Dragon! So I remove the Black Feather Counter on it to make your monster lose 700 extra attack points. And you take 700 points of damage!" smirked Zoom as she weakened Izzy's dragon even more while dealing the girl damage simultaneously (1400 700).
Izzy's Life Points: 1850-
"And don't think I forgot about your trap. I play Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it!" shouted Zoom as her card destroyed Izzy's scarecrow.
"So much for that," stated the girl to herself.
"Now, to finish this! Black-Winged Dragon, attack her Scrap Dragon! Send it back to the junkyard!" shouted Zoom.
Her beast roared and opened its mouth before firing a black tornado that ripped Izzy's metal monster into pieces as they scattered to the winds.
Izzy's Life Points: 450-
"It's over!"
"Not yet! Cause my dragon doesn't leave without a parting gift. Since it was destroyed, I can bring back one non-Synchro 'Scrap' monster from my graveyard. So my Junk Archer is ready to defend me!" said Izzy as she managed to avoid Zoom going for her direct attack.
"You got lucky. But your luck's about to run out, Izzy! I end my turn."
Turn 11: Izzy (Hand 4)
"My move," said the girl as she drew her card. "I'll activate the ability of my Junk Archer so that I can banish your Black-Winged Dragon until the end phase!" Izzy's monster pulled its bow back before firing an arrow and making Zoom's dragon disappear. "Now, Junk Archer, attack her Gale the Whirlwind."
The archer loaded another arrow as he pulled back on the string and fired. The arrow traveled as it made contact with the bird, which exploded into a cloud of feathers.
Zoom's Life Points: 3100-
"I now end my turn," said Izzy.
"And my monster returns," said Zoom as her dragon reappeared.
Turn 12: Zoom (Hand 1)
Zoom drew her card as she looked at it before looking at Izzy, "Now, I discard my Blackwing - Damascus the Polar Night. By doing that, I give my dragon 500 extra attack points till the end of the turn!" said Zoom as her beast powered up. "Now, take out Junk Archer!" Zoom's monster fired another one of its attacks as it had no problem taking out Izzy's last monster. The attack caused the girl to fall to the ground.
Izzy's Life Points: 150-
"I end my turn," stated Zoom.
Turn 13: Izzy (Hand 4)
The girl sat up as she looked directly in front of her. The scenario before her had Zoom with her dragon as she needed to find a way to take it down.
"Alright, let's see what I'm working with," said the girl as she drew her card, hoping to spark some interest. "I'll start by playing Pot of Greed to draw two cards. Then I discard my Junk Converter and Scrap Goblin to add a 'Synchron' monster from my deck to my hand." Izzy sent her two cards away as she grabbed the one her deck ejected. "I'll then play what I just got, Junk Synchron(1300/500)." Out came Izzy's yellow monster as it put on a serious face.
"Now, Junk Synchron's ability activates. It allows me to return a Level 2 or lower monster from my graveyard in defense mode, but its effects are negated. So I bring back my Junk Converter. And then, since I control a tuner monster, I can also revive my Quillbolt Hedgehog(800/800)."
"But I never sent that monster to the graveyard!" stated Zoom.
"No, but I did. When I played Graceful Charity," explained Izzy with a smile.
"Now... I think I'll tune my Level 3 Junk Synchron with my Level 2 Junk Converter!" Junk Synchron pulled a chord on his body to rev up his engine. It turned into three giant green rings circling its comrade as a light surged. "The stars come together to call forth a new power! Become the path that lights the way! I Synchro Summon, Junk Warrior(2300/1300)!" A purple and white warrior appeared before thrusting its fist out.
"Next, I activate my Junk Warrior's ability. The attack points of all level 2-or-below monsters on my field are added to Junk Warrior!"
"It has 3100 attack points, but that's not enough to win," said Zoom.
"I'll then play these two cards, Junk Barrage and Scrap Fist!" said Izzy as she equipped her Junk Warrior with both spells. "Now, Junk Warrior attack!" Her monster leaped into the air and extended its fist as it made contact with Zoom's dragon.
"Due to Scrap Fist, you can't activate any effects or cards until the end of the battle. Furthermore, any battle damage is doubled!" stated Izzy as her monster destroyed Zoom's dragon leaving some feathers to fall.
Zoom's Life Points: 1000-
"Now, Junk Barrage activates. When the monster it's equipped to destroys a monster, you take damage equal to half of the monster's attack points."
"Oh, no," stated the girl as she realized what that meant.
Junk Warrior put its fist out to send sonic wavelength toward Zoom, who had to cover her ears for a bit before she was knocked to the floor.
Zoom's Life Points: 0-
Winner: Izzy
The duel ended as the monsters disappeared. Izzy immediately fell on her behind as she put her hand on her head.
"W-Whoa. All that spinning has made me one dizzy Izzy." expressed the girl as she tried to get her head to stop spinning.
Celestia brought her hand up to her chin as she put on a thinking expression.
"So?" asked Applebloom to her boss.
"Ms. Izzy had improved. But I can't promise anything," said Celestia to Applebloom as she had to think long and hard about which two individuals she wanted to select for this special duel.
Author's Note: Friends and Family Day is almost upon us. And a couple of things seemed to be taking shape. Most notably, it seems Izzy has vastly improved since we saw her in her first duel with Roll near the beginning. And it seems that Ms. Applebloom notices that and is hopefully asking Celestia to consider her as a participant for the exhibitionduel she wants to hold. Only time will tell if it was enough.
