Chapter Five:

They weren't entirely sure what they were supposed to be expecting when they signed the Contract, but getting mauled to death by a werewolf looking creature and actually waking up afterwards in an entirely different place was definitely not something they expected. According to the old man in the wheelchair, Gehrman apparently, the place where they had woken up was called the Hunter's Dream, a safe place for Contracted Hunters to rest and make preparations for the Hunt. Something that they couldn't stop themselves from finding somewhat unnerving were the life-sized doll and what looked like a wax statue of a winged humanoid around their age, which almost seemed to be moving whenever they weren't looking at it in a fashion far too similar to the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who for comfort.

Looking down towards the floor down the stairs, they spotted two groups of small beings that were kind of cute… in a strange ugly way. Each group of the beings were offering some form of a weapon. One group offered two obvious firearms; a flintlock pistol, a rifle of some kind alongside… something that quite frankly looked like an overly elaborate and slightly oversized tea-kettle. The other group offered a total of three weapons that were definitely intended to be used in melee combat; a long sword that seemed to also come with what appeared to be a rather elaborate sheath, a mace that seemed to be accompanied by a device with a pair of buzzsaws attached to it and a rather plain looking (in comparison to the other weapons) axe. After some thinking they decided to take the flintlock pistol along with the mace and buzzsaw device. While it was rather heavy, the mace just felt right in their right hand with the buzzsaw device strapped to their back and the flintlock pistol in their left hand. As they made a few practice swings with the mace, Gehrman could be heard chuckling in the background, which drew their attention towards the old man in the wheelchair.

"Interesting choice, Hunter. Most of the previous Hunters who had a connection to the Dream didn't get such a varied selection as you did." Stated Gehrman before chuckling to himself again. "This the first time anything from outside the Workshop has been offered to a Hunter from the start. The Healing Church and the Powder Kegs. Just what are you playing at, you overgrown malformed iguana? Well it doesn't matter, go on Hunter. Hunt a few Beasts."

"Previous Hunters?" The Hunter couldn't help but ask, being rather confused by the old man in the wheelchair's words.

"You heard that, did you? Well, you don't need to worry about that, young Hunter. The city of Yharnam needs you. Go on. Perform your duties as a Hunter. But beware, Hunter, Yharnam can be a dangerous place, especially if you're unprepared. Come back when you feel the need to. Everything here is at your disposal… even the Doll if you wish. Heheheh."

"Understood. I'll be back." Declared the Hunter as they made their way to the Yharnam Headstone before kneeling down and being transported to the Waking World.

"Good luck, Hunter. You are going to need it."
