Both Luka and Adrien are suspended from school for one week due to the ruckus they caused. When they walk out of the principle's office, none say a word to each other.
The silence between them along with the tension in the air sends chills down everyone's spine. All the faculties at school are surprised when they hear about what happened, none of them can believe that Adrien Agreste and Luka Couffaine got into a huge fight as they both are kind and remarkable students.
"Adrien!"
The blonde raises his head when he heard a familiar voice calling him, it's Natalie. The woman walks up to her stepson, her eyes scanning to see if he is hurt or not. When she is sure that Adrien is fine, Natalie sighs in relief.
When she received the call from the principal office, her heart almost dropped. Thank god that Gabriel was not by her side to hear this, he would be furious if he found out about this commotion. She doesn't understand why and how it happened, but seeing the hurt in his eyes makes her heart aches. Why is her son so sad?
"Let's get you home…" she kisses his forehead, smiling when Adrien nods.
They walk past Luka, who is still having his eyes glued to the ground. For a moment, Adrien thought that he might jump on the older boy again, but he stops himself from doing so. He was angry, so angry that he let that negative feeling blur away his own judgment. Knowing Luka for quite a while, how his feelings for Marinette have changed and how his heart is yearning for Himawari, why would he do such a thing to break their friendship?
He's two years older than him, Luka understands very well what is right and what is wrong, such infidelity actions don't suit a guy like him. Everyone knows how much Luka loves Himawari, he could just break her heart without any reason. And even if he has his reasons, someone like Luka would never ever make his lovely raven head cry. So why did he do it…?
"A-Adrien…"
The blonde looks at the girl in front of him, he can feel his anger rising again.
This girl…
He doesn't want to see her…
"Let's go, Natalie…"
Natalie is surprised at first, but seeing the look on his face makes her comply.
Marinette grips her clothes tightly, she feels like she wants to cry. Adrien must have hated her a lot after what happened. She tries to call him again but is stopped by Alya and Nino, who shake their head in disappointment. Things have taken the worst turn for all of them and they're not going to let Marinette stir up the pot even more.
The bluenette bites her bottom lips, holding back her sob. She turns around, only to find Luka looking more depressed than ever. She slowly walks up to him, hoping that he would listen to her, he would hear her reasons, he would accept her apology. Luka has always been very fond of her, surely he will listen to what she has to say…
But Juleka steps in, blocking the bluenette from reaching her brother. She has done enough to break him, as his sister, Juleka refuses to back down and looks away. She has always been fond of Marinette, such a kind and sweet girl who loves helping her friends. But for her to play with Luka's feelings and make Himawari cry like that, Juleka can no longer accept this girl as her friend.
Marinette has betrayed her trust…
"Step away from us, Marinette. We don't want to see you."
"J-Juleka, wait…"
"For what? Wait for what? For you to hurt my brother again?" Juleka raises her voice, annoyed at the excuses she's about to make "No more excuses, Marinette. You betray us, you betray Adrien's love, you betray my brother's trust, you betray Himawari's feelings. No apologies can make up for what you have done, Marinette!"
Juleka holds onto her brother, allowing him to lean on her a little bit as they go home, completely giving Marinette a cold shoulder. They can not handle her, Luka can not handle her…
It's too much for them to bear…
Marinette slides down onto the floor, cupping her face as she cries. She hopes that Alya will hold her and tells her that everything is okay, that she's okay. But no one is there for her. Despite Nino looking at her with concern on his face, Alya shakes her head. Her friend has gotten away with so many problems that now, she must face the consequences of her actions. She will no longer be the one who cleans up Marinette's mess.
"Luka, are you okay?" Anarka walks up to her son "What happened?"
"It's a long story, mom…" Juleka answers for him.
Right now, he has no strength to even look at his mother, let alone answer her questions. He walks past Lukka, who looks at him with concern in his eyes, a slam the door, locking it. Their father turns to Juleka, hoping to find an answer. This is the first time they see Luka so depressed, so defeated, there's no light in his eyes, only a grimacing expression dawning on the handsome face.
Juleka sighs as she recalls what happened at school, how Himawari was crying and how Luka was in the principal office this whole time. Anarka gasps when she hears this, never in her life has she thought that such a sweet girl like Marinette would do such a thing, and yet…
"Why would she do such a horrendous act?"
"I don't know, but I will never forgive her for making Luka like this."
"And what about Himawari?" Lukka turns to his daughter "Is she okay?"
"She's not." Juleka sighs in her cup "Although it's not brother's fault, she was betrayed by those she trusts the most."
"I will call Cecile, just to check on her." Anarka looks at her phone.
"Thank you, mom." Juleka smiles before turning her attention to her brother's bedroom "And what about Luka?"
"Let's leave him for now. He needs some time to calm himself first." Lukka sighs, staring at his reflection in the cup.
Behind the locked door, Luka can hear their conversation. When his mom mentions Himawari, his heart immediately sinks. Luka can not even describe how he's feeling right now, but he knows one thing, 'horrible' is an understatement.
The pain in his heart is not the same as when he saw his father hurt his mother, no… It's worse than that. It's like thousands of knives stabbing his heart, an open wound that even the greatest physicians can't treat it. It hurts so much…
The look on Himawari's face, that terror and despair look on her face, he will never forget it. He has made a promise to himself that he would never make Himawari cry again, and yet, it seems like he always fails. Last time, he used harsh words toward her. This time, he has done something that is unforgivable.
It's not his fault, he knows that...
But he put his trust in the wrong person and that's the worst crime he has ever committed. Had he noticed the change in Marinette, he would have been able to prevent this from happening.
Marinette…
Even her name tasted like toxins in his mouth.
He noticed how her inner melody was dark and twisted, but he allowed his fondness for her to cloud his judgment. And now, he hurt both Himawari and Adrien…
Himawari…
I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…
Chloe gently pats Himawari's back, silently listening to her cries. For someone who only cares for herself, the blonde can't help but want to ease her friend's pain. It's horrible, seeing Himawari cries this much. The girl has been nothing but sunshine and rainbow, her smile is radiating, one that brightens up everyone's day when they see it.
She also feels bad for Luka. Knowing the older boy, he would never do such a horrible thing to his beloved raven head. The more Chloe cares for both Himawari and Luka, her hatred for Marinette rises.
That stupid baker girl…
How dare she does such a horrendous act?
Not only she hurts Himawari and Luka, she also hurts Adrien. Chloe has told herself to stay out of this mess, but it seems like she needs to do something to teach that girl a lesson. Even Kagami is angry about this and she knows how important her friendship with Himawari is. The fencer girl would never allow anyone to make her cry, and here Marinette is, ruining everything just because she's jealous and insecure.
While there are many people who think that Marinette's insecurity is valid, especially how popular Adrien is, that doesn't make her actions reasonable. What she did was commit infidelity, something that the blonde can never accept.
She hurts Adrien, she hurts Luka, and worst of all, she hurts Himawari…
That is something Chloe would never forgive Marinette. The bluenette already dislikes her, how much worse can it be if the blonde decides to make her pay the price?
Her phone rings, it's Kagami. The young fencer calls to ask how her friend is doing. The conversation is short and condensed, Kagami told her what happened right after they left and how the bluenette was trying to fix things but was stopped immediately by Juleka and Alya, how angry they were at her, how Adrien refused to look at her, how Juleka claimed to never let Marinette hurt her brother again.
"Well, I'm relieved to know that you are by her side right now."
"I'll try my best to help her, but knowing Himawari, this circumstance hits her hard…"
"True, I can't believe that this would happen."
"How's Luka doing?" Chloe peaks through the door of Himawari's room, checking her friend.
"He looked like half of his soul was sucked out of his body, if you know what I mean…"
The blonde sighs, the more she listens to the story, the more it flames the fire inside her. the hatred for Marinette in her grows…
"As much as I would love to make Marinette pays for what she did, it's not important right now. We should prioritize mending Himawari and Luka's relationship."
"Let's leave them be for now. Too many things happened today, I doubt they even have a chance to really listen to us."
"True, I'll leave her to you. We'll see what we can do after this."
Chloe bids Kagami goodbye before hanging up the call, she can still hear the sobbing inside Himawari's room.
That poor girl…
Too kind and sweet to be put in this kind of situation. Himawari, with a heart of gold, always does her best to support everyone around her. Even goes as far as to help the blonde with her engagement situation and she's nothing more than a big bully toward the young artist.
Chloe understands her feelings very well, the thought of being betrayed by those who she trusts the most is painful. It doesn't matter what are the reasons behind Marinette's true motive, the fact that what she did remains the same, she betrayed everyone, her boyfriend and her friends.
It would be very funny to come to class tomorrow and see how all of her classmates surround the bluenette and tell her that she did absolutely nothing wrong, Chloe knows that is a possible outcome. So many times that Marinette did wrong things but her fault was cast aside because everyone believes how kind and sweet she is and always gives her the benefit of the doubt.
But not Chloe…
She refuses to believe in whatever reason Marinette has…
It doesn't matter how valid the reason is, the fact stays the same, what she did is unacceptable…
