Shadowfox219: I originally had them both have a long conversation about their ideals, but then I realized in this circumstance neither of the characters would do that. So I shortened it to a short but hopefully still impactful conversation. Artoria Alter and Sonic are going to have an interesting relationship, as they've both chosen the opposite of the other.

As cool as putting music on while reading is, its just not something I'm very good at. Some are obvious like 'The Will to fight the knight', but other cases its not so easy.

Sonic tensed, his instincts screaming of danger and yet Lev stood casually, the Holy Grail shining in his hands. Olga was trying to break free from Cu's grip and run to Lev, didn't that girl have any danger sense!? Mashu was wary at least, but she mainly seemed confused.

"Professor Lev… you're alive?". The Shielder asked confused, but tensed up ready to fight when Lev's gaze went to her. There was something inhumane in that gaze, missing any kindness the professor before.

"I see Marisbury's prized experiment has finally shown results, but was this naturally or the presence of the Unexplained Variable that caused this…". Lev murmured, his words causing Mashu to flinch and Sonic to frown.

"Hey leprechaun! Don't call my friend an experiment!". Sonic shouted, but his eyes widened and he had to quickly move to avoid a beam of dark mana from Lev, tearing through the ground and even creating a large hole in the cave walls.

"Ah yes, the Unexplained Variable. Truly, we could've planned for some of Chaldea's staff surviving, even the A-Team could be dealt with, yet you… You are something we could've never planned for, and thus must be eliminated". Lev spoke casually, yet hints of frustration seeped into his voice. "Plans that took years to form, and yet you started tearing them apart with your mere presence!".

By this point, Lev was shouting, his fury obvious to everyone and dark mana radiating off his body. Sonic shivered, Artoria was bad but this guy… It was like comparing a pond to an ocean. He quickly looked over his teammates to see their reaction.

Olga had stopped struggling in Cu's hands, staring at Lev with a horrified and disbelieving expression. Cu himself looked like he was barley holding himself back from attacking Lev, while Mashu was shaking from the dark mana in the air.

"L-lev! Y-you're joking right?! You have to be jok-". Olga's desperate pleading was cut off by Lev.

"And it was quite a surprise to see you here as well Olga, it would seem you finally gained what you always wanted, the potential to Rayshift. At the cost of never being able to return to your precious Chaldea". Lev smirked cruelly, his words causing everyone to freeze, what the hell did he mean?! "I planted a bomb directly under your feet, your physical body has perished, you are but a spirit. Likely the this Singularity is the only thing keeping your body stable, if you were to return to Chaldea, you would fade away into nothingness".

Lev's words caused everyone to go shock, Sonic clenched his fist so tightly they began hurting and his gaze was focused on Olga.

She was pale, disbelieving, s-she couldn't be dead, s-she, no no no no! L-lev was just joking, this was all a big joke! A HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE!

"Y-your lying, y-you have to be lying, please be lying…". Olga couldn't suppress a sob, Sonic's fist clenched tighter and he gave Lev a glare filled with anger.

"Oh but it gets better". Lev laughed and the Holy Grail glowed, a distortion in space-time opening to reveal a red holographic planet, while Sonic didn't recognize it from the horrified expressions of Mashu and Olga, he guessed it was important.

"C-CHALDEAS is bright red…". Mashu muttered fearfully, this couldn't be real…

"Hahahaha! Yes, your precious CHALDEAS, your precious tool to see the future of humanity! Beyond this singularity and Chaldea, human history has been incinerated entirely!". Lev laughed, Sonic paled as he understood. History itself was burned away? How the hell was that even possible!

"Thats… THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! T-the power required to perform that isn't possible even for gods!". Olga denied, this couldn't be real, it had to be fake. Lev betraying her? She was just a spirit? Humanity disappearing? It all had to be fake!

"Humanity has lost the favour of our king, and as punishment has been incinerated as punishment. Even the few sites that remain shall be destroyed by the end of the year, your precious humanity has been burned away to ashes!". Lev mocked, Olga fell to her knees and couldn't suppress her sobs. Everything she had worked for, everything she had done, it was all a failure…

"Hey…". Sonic's serious voice put an end to everyone's thoughts as he slowly approached the still yet to vanish Excalibur. "What gave you… the right?".

"The right? It is the right of our king to decide whether humanity lives or dies. They are a worthless species, and their time has come". Lev spoke confidently, amused. Even as Sonic stood before Excalibur, why would he feel fear? Only King Arthur could wield that blade, and this was just a simple hedgehog.

"And just, who.. No, what are you?". Sonic demanded, his expression fierce and Chaos Energy beginning to radiate from his body. This guy… He fought he could attack innocences, erase an entire world, just because his king said so?

"Ah, I suppose the time for false names has fallen away. I am one seventy-two demons god that serve my King, I am Lev Lainur Flauros! He who started the incinerated of humanity!". Lev laughed as the ground around him began shifting into a black substance, massive red eyes opening across the ground and all staring at Sonic.

"Flauros!? That's the name of one of the demons in Ars Goetia!". Mashu said in shock, was this truly one of the demons of Solomon?

Sonic however… He just glared and his hand grabbed the grip of Excalibur, causing Flauros to laugh.

"You fool, that blade will only allow itself to be used by King Arthur. Who are you to believe yourself equal to one of humanities greatest king?". Flauros mocked, but Sonic just smirked and began channelling Chaos Energy down the blade.

"Who am I?". Sonic smirked, his wrath fading away and being replaced with confidence and warmth. Excalibur rapidly began flickering between black and silver, before remaining on the majestic silver, gold and blue combination of the true Excalibur.

Olga, Cu and Mashu could only watch in hope, a warm light beginning to fill them, fighting away the dark mana of Flauros. The corrupted of Excalibur had faded away, leaving behind only the golden light of the Planet's Hope.

"I-impossible!". Lev took a step back, unable to believe the sight before his eyes. No, the hedgehog just purified its corruption, there was no way he could actually…!

Crack, swoosh!

Yet it was, Excalibur flew free from the ground and into Sonic's hands. A golden light coming off the Sacred Sword and merging with Sonic's Chaos Aura, creating an aura of blue and gold around the hedgehog. Sonic aimed the blade towards Flauros, a smirk across his face.

"I'm Sonic the Hedgehog! Knight of the Wind and Hero of Mobius! The guy who's going to take you and your king down!". Sonic exclaimed to the skies themselves, and in blur of speed rushed towards Flauros and swung the blade.

The demon in human flesh tried blocking with a barrier of mana, yet it cracked with ease under the Chaos Energy infused Excalibur. He leapt back to avoid being dissected.

"Fool! It matters not what you are in your own world, you stand before one of the seventy two demon god pil-". Flauros was cut off by a kick to his chest, causing him to spit out blood from the force of the blow, bones crunching under Sonic's strength.

"Sorry? You were saying something, I can't hear you over the noise of how annoying you are!". Sonic swung Excalibur once again, but Lev was prepared this time and had the earth under Sonic rise as a spear, causing the hedgehog to leap away from Lev less he get impaled. "Come on Flory! You can do better then that".

Flauros let out a scream of rage and sent a powerful wave of fire towards Sonic, who raised Excalibur and brought it down, splitting the flames with ease. The hero smirked at Flauros rage and avoided another beam of magical energy, and ran towards the demon.

Lev created another barrier, yet this time Sonic simply sped around it and slashed Excalibur. Red flew through the air while the Holy Grail fell to the ground.

"AARRGGHHHH! YOU BASTARD!". Flauros screamed as his right hand was cut off, taking a few instinctive steps back and glaring at Sonic with pure hatred. Blood stopped leaking from the wound, and instead a black mist was emerging.

"Normally I'm not the type to be so brutal, I like to offer mercy… But you? Your an exception". Sonic spoke coldly, for a few seconds his eyes shifted from green to an ominous gold. "You've harmed and killed countless in Chaldea with that explosion, and you helped burned humanity away… I'm a fan of mercy, but even I have my limits!".

Both demon and hero glared at each other, Flauros raised his remaining hand and mana glowed around it. He would crush this anomaly! He would not have his king's great work ruined by a god cursed hedgehog-

Suddenly he stopped, anger still on his face yet resignation also filled it.

"You are lucky today hedgehog…! My king demands my presence, so it would seem you'll have to perish with this vanishing Singularity instead!". Lev laughed, casting a final glance towards Olga before vanishing before everyone's sight.

The earth began to rumble and Sonic almost tripped, rushing to Mashu, Cu and Olga.

"T-the Singularity is falling apart, and we have no contact with Chaldea! We can't even Rayshift back and the Director…". Mashu stared at Olga, who's tear filled face caused Sonic's gut to clench. There was nothing he could do with a single Chaos Emerald…

"I could possibly transport us back with the Chaos Emerald, but that wouldn't help Olga". Sonic felt a rare feeling of defeat, he had managed to defeat the corrupted Servants and even repel Lev, but he could do nothing to save Olga.

"You tried your best Sonic, nobody could have predicted this". Cu spoke, even as his body began falling apart into golden light. The Holy Grail War was over, he couldn't stick around. This feeling of powerless, it wasn't something he appreciated.

"D-director…". Mashu trailed off, tears beginning to form in her eyes. Olga let out one last sob before her gaze went to Sonic, and then to Excalibur still in his hand, his speech earlier.

"S-Sonic… Did you mean it?". She asked, before explaining what she meant. "Y-you'd help save humanity?".

If someone as strong as Sonic was helping humanity, if he really was going to help.

"I gave my word I'd help Mashu solve the Singularities, and I don't go back on my word". Sonic spoke, taking Olga's hand. But even he was surprised when she hugged him and began crying. "H-hey! No need to cry! It's going to be alright, I'll take care of Flauros and his king, you don't need to worry about it!".

"I-it's fine! J-just go! This Singularity won't stay stable for much longer! And don't forget the Holy Grail ether!". Olga said, she was still shaky yet Sonic's promise had given her strength. She was scared, b-but maybe, maybe Chaldea would still win with Sonic as its master…

Sonic nodded and quickly grabbed the discarded Grail, before handing it over to Mashu. He looked at the Excalibur in his grip, he wasn't sure if it'd stay with him or not during the transport. He pulled the Chaos Emerald out of his quills and held it to the sky.

"Mashu, put your hand on my shoulder". He asked and the Shielder did as requested, giving one last sorrowful glance to Olga. Yet she smiled when Cu placed his own hand on Olga's shoulder, giving the two a smile.

"Shame it has to end like this, but I'll keep the little lady company. Nobody should go into the darkness alone". The child of light spoke, giving a shaking Olga a warm smile. "If ya summon me, make sure its as a Lancer next time!".

"Got it Cu!". Sonic winked and Chaos Energy began radiating off his body, this was sad yes, but he'd make sure to keep his promise, so from wherever she was watching, Olga would be able to smile.

Raising his hand holding the Chaos Emerald into the air, Sonic spoke the words that would invoke the Chaos Emeralds power.

"The servers are the seven Chaos. Chaos is power, power is enriched by the heart. The controller is the one that unifies the chaos!". Sonic chanted as space began warping around him and Mashu. "CHAOS CONTROL!".

Space bent, time twisted, and the world tried denying it, but in a flash of light Sonic and Mashu disappeared, leaving nothing behind.

Olga stared at where the two once stood, the Singularity was about to disappear yet…

"Hey, believe in them. One of em's already a hero worthy of legend and the other ain't to shabby, they'll be able to deal with that Flauros bastard". Cu spoke, even as he was fading away he still sought to give a little comfort to Olga.

"Yea… It's strange, yet this is the first time… I can fully believe in someone else". Olga glanced into the sky, and to her surprise the moon was visible, the clouded sky fading away at this world's end.

"I'll believe in them, after all, they have King Arthur on their side".

With a smile, the Singularity faded away.

This, this was difficult. I tried balancing between hope and despair, Sonic isn't someone to despair, he's someone who brings hope.

Part of me desperately wanted to save Olga, yet Chaldea needs the motivation. But at least here, she could get a more peaceful end.

Also Lev lost a hand, because Sonic is taking a bite out of that bastard before he goes. Not sure if Sonic is going to keep Excalibur, so I left it vague whether it was transported with Sonic. I'd like to hear peoples opinions on Sonic keeping Excalibur or whether he should get a different sword, possibly one made by Da Vinci.

Next chapter, we return to Chaldea and Sonic shall summon his first few Servants. But who those Servants are… Well I only know one of them, the rest I'm still unsure, so feel free to suggest!
