I'm sorry it's so short, but I didn't want this section to be with the next chapter, so I just made it be a chapter. Anyway, with summer almost over the updates might slow down a little, I'm not sure, just because I need to get ready for school and I need to get more hours of work in. Also, I'm thinking about writing another fanfic that's more about the Bat family. Well, hope you like the chapter, I promise the next one will be longer. Please review.

Mallory spent a week at her parent's house. They were getting ready to foster Peter until the paperwork could be completed for the final adoption, and Mallory had been glad to have an excuse to skip her therapy sessions with Canary and avoid the questions about why she wouldn't talk. Peter was in her old room, and she was sleeping on the couch. In that one short week, Mallory grew attached to the six year old. She was almost sorry to have to go back to the cave, but she was also more determined than ever to keep Peter as far away from the dangers of her work as she possibly could.

The team was waiting for her when she got back to the cave.

"Well?" Megan asked.

Mallory grinned. "They're adopting him. It'll take a while for the papers to go through, but they're fostering him in the meantime."

"So, when do we get to meet him?" Wally asked. He'd been pestering her the whole week wanting to go to the house and meet Peter, but she'd told him to give the family a chance to get used to each other first.

"I don't know. I'm going to give my parents a week or two to get used to having a kid around again, maybe then."

The team talked for a while, with Robin and Artemis talking about training the boy and the others talking about bringing him on a mission. The talk worried Mallory, but she didn't tell them anything. There would be plenty of time to straighten things out.

Then Canary walked in. "Well, team, Batman has a mission for you. Mallory, come with me."

Malory sighed and followed the Leaguer to the 'therapy room'. Canary gestured to the chair across from her and Mallory took her seat.

"I hope you enjoyed your time with your family." Mallory nodded. "And, I hope you took some time to think about your place on the team. Mallory, no one wants you to be put off the team, but you have to start taking this seriously. If you don't want to talk to me, then just tell me who you will talk to."

Mallory shrugged. She didn't have anything against Canary, she just didn't want to talk to anyone she knew. "Well, I have told someone about the dream, and it didn't go away, so I don't see why I'm here."

Canary looked up. "So you do remember it. Mallory, I promise I can help you work through this if you'll just let me in."

Her voice held so much concern and warmth, Mallory almost let her burden loose. Then she pictured the guilt Clark would feel if he knew, and Batman standing next to him as emotionless as ever, judging her for letting one fight scar her so deeply, and her wall came back up. She sighed.

"I'm sorry, Canary. I just don't know how."

Black Canary sat back and thought for a moment. "Would you be opposed to having J'onn bring me into your mind? He could bring the nightmare to the front of your mind, and you wouldn't have to talk about it."

Mallory thought about it. She didn't like the thought that someone would be going in her mind, probing through her thoughts. "Give me a few days to think about it," she told the Leaguer. Canary nodded, and Mallory walked out. She went to the zeta tube and typed in her coordinates, then appeared a few blocks away from Isaiah's apartment.

"Mallory, hey, I wasn't expecting to see you today," Isaiah said when he answered the door.

"Yeah, neither was I. Can you come with me? I have something I need to talk out."

"Sure, Let me change. You want to come in?" Mallory nodded and walked into the living room. Nikki was there working on a project for school.

"Hey, Mallory! You want to see?"

Mallory smiled and sat by the girl. "What is it?" she asked.

Nikki held the little city up proudly. "We had to create a scene like those ice skating things."

Mallory nodded. She knew what she was talking about. She studied the little town. There were little toys in it, and a car with a pipe cleaner christmas tree on the top, and a little white church and a few unmarked buildings made from cardboard. The whole thing fit in a shoebox.

"Wow, it's really good. It'll probably be the best one in your class," Mallory said. Nikki grinned.

Isaiah came out and stood over them. "Nik, tell mom I'll be back soon," he said, and he and Mallory left.

"So, what's up?" He asked when they were on the street.

"Canary wants to get Manhunter to probe my mind for the dream."

"Well, isn't that a good solution?" They got on the train going to the heart of the city. They found a seat at the back and had to cram into a small space between people.

"I don't like the idea of the League prying into my memories. I mean, I trust them and all, it's just that there are things I don't want them to see, and I want my mind to be my own," she said quietly.

He nodded. "Yeah, I get that. That was why I didn't want him to go in my head when you brought me to the hall. But it wasn't bad. And you being there made me feel more protected."

Mallory looked up at him. "Will you go in my head with the League?"

Isaiah stared at her. "I don't know, I don't think they'll let me."

"They will, I'll make sure of that. Please?"

Isaiah sighed. "Mal-" his voice trailed off when he looked at her pleading face. The train slowed to a stop and they got off with the crowd. They started walking to the park, and Mallory waited for Isaiah to answer.

When he didn't say anything by the time they got to the park, she said, "Isaiah, I did it for you. Why can't you just come into my mind and be there for me?"

"Because it's the League. I can't tell them no if they start to look into something they shouldn't be."

Mallory stared at him. "You don't have to. Remember, I'll be there, too. I just want you to back me up. Please?"

He sighed heavily. "Fine, I guess."

She nodded, but it bothered her that he hadn't agreed immediately.
