I don't know if I'm going to be doing anything with this or not, but I haven't really had Conner in the story too much and I wanted to bring him a little more to the front. Anyway, hope you like it and please review.

Mallory woke up in the middle of the night to Wolf whimpering outside her door. She stumbled out of bed and pressed the button and the doors slid open.

"What is it, boy?" she asked tiredly.

Wolf started walking back to Conner's room, looking back to see if she was following. She rubbed her eyes and walked down the hall to her friend's room. The door was open, so she peeked in and knocked on the doorframe.

"Conner?" she called softly into the darkness. She didn't get an answer.

Wolf walked past her, his white fur practically glowing in the dark room, and Mallory followed, looking around for the clone. Wolf went to sit by the desk, and Mallory lit her eyes up so she could see into the darkness. Conner was still sitting in the same spot as he'd been that morning when she'd asked him to borrow some clothes.

"Conner?" she said, stepping closer. She laid a hand on his shoulder gently and he grabbed her arm and hurled her to the wall, holding her against it by her throat. Flashbacks of the watchtower played in her mind and she let her instincts take over. She got her legs up and kicked him hard in the chest, forcing him back a few steps. Once she was free, she got in a comfortable fighting position, but Conner didn't seem to want to fight anymore.

"Mallory?" he asked, sounding a little shaken.

She slowly let some of the tension out of her body and straightened out. "Yeah, it's me. What was that?"

He stumbled to the light switch and flicked it on. Mallory rubbed her neck, still feeling his hand pressing down on her throat.

"I'm sorry," he said quietly.

Mallory studied him. He looked tired, like he would collapse any second. "What's going on with you?" she asked.

He shook his head, raking his hand through his hair. "I don't know," he said unconvincingly.

She pet Wolf absently. "Conner, you don't have to tell me what's getting to you, but take it from me, if you don't figure it out soon, Batman's going to notice and then you'll be in therapy with Black Canary. Maybe Megan can help."

She started to go back to her room when Conner said, "Wait." She turned and waited for him to say more. "It's Cadmus," he said quietly.

Mallory walked to the bed and sat down.

"I've been having flashbacks, things I don't even really remember. They must have happened before Robin, Wally, and Kalder found me."

"What happens in them?" Mallory asked gently.

"They're testing on me, and on some genomorphs across from me. The genomorphs, they all die slow, painful deaths, and I, well, it hurts, but I survive. As soon as one genome dies, Desment orders another one brought in."

Mallory took a breath, letting the images settle in her like a concrete block. "What do you think triggered them?" she asked.

"I don't know. I've been seeing them for a few days."

"Maybe you should talk to Megan. She might be able to help you. Anyway, she'll be able to help you more than I can."

Conner nodded slowly, rubbing Wolf.

"I need to get some sleep," Mallory said after a moment, feeling horrible about the way it came out. She tilted her head and looked at him with concern. "Are you gonna be alright?"

He nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. Night."

She nodded and stood up.

"Oh, Mallory?" he said.

"Yeah?" she asked.

"Thanks. You know, for listening or whatever."

She smiled at him. "Anytime."

She went back to her room, but she tossed and turned for the rest of the night.
