Chapter 13 Finding Hope
Emiko's POV
Tonight was the opening night of Rui's first show at Tokyo Arkland.
He had gotten Emu, Nene and I tickets to see it; which is how we found yourselves sitting in the audience at the CENTER THEATRE
The lights dimmed, and Rui walked onto the stage.
"Greetings, ladies and gentlemen", he started. "My name is Kamishiro Rui, and this shall be my first show as the CENTER THEATRE's new director. The story you are about to see is a re-telling of the real live events that led our main actor, Genbu Asahi, to where he is today. I hope you enjoy it."
With these words, the audience applauded as Rui walked off the stage.
Then, the curtain rose, and the show begin.
As the story of the show unfolded, we saw the horror of war, the pain of feeling trapped in such a bleak situation, and how one can find hope through it all.
It was heart wrenching, but also…it was beautiful.
And when the show reached its conclusion, Asahi sang a song that brought conveyed all the feelings the show made you feel back. It was so beautiful that it brought me to tears.
When the song was over, the show ended…and the audience stood up to give a standing ovation.
"Thank you very much, everyone", Asahi said with a bow. "None of this would've been possible without our amazing new director. Rui, please come back onto the stage!"
With that, Rui walked back onto the stage as the audience applauded loudly for him.
"Rui-Kun", Emu yelled. "Wonderhoy!"
I could see Rui giggle at this. Then, he began to speak.
"Thank you so much, everyone", he started. "Asahi's story is one that inspired me greatly, and getting to re-tell said story like this truly is amazing."
…
After the show, we went backstage to meet up with Rui.
"Rui-Kun", Emu exclaimed when she spotted him.
Then…she ran up to him before jumping into his arms.
"Hello, Emu-Kun", he greeted. "Did you enjoy the show?"
"I did", Emu replied. "It made my emotions go woosh woosh woosh!"
"Huh", I asked in confusion.
"She meant it was a roller coaster of emotions", Nene stated. "But in a good way. Well done, Rui."
"Thank you, Nene", Rui said, before looking at me. "And what about you, Anno-San? As a fellow director, I would love to hear your opinion."
After Rui said this…I put my hand on my heart.
"The beginning of the show filled me with a feeling of such hopelessness", I revealed. "That's why, when Asahi reached his happy ending at the end of the show, I was filled with so much hope; hope that things will always get better no matter how bleak the situation may appear."
After I said this, I closed my eyes and held my hands together.
That's the type of message I want my show to portray.
After I thought this…the smile fell from my face.
But will my show be able to do that? Will my show make her smile again?
