Chapter 15 Reminds Me of Her

Tsukasa's POV

I had managed to get the job as a party entertainer, and today was my first gig.

I was at the party venue, and I walked out of the changing room dressed up as a knight.

"How do I look", I heard someone ask.

I then turned around, and saw Sakurako dressed up as a princess.

"You look like a proper princess, Sakurako", I replied.

"I would hope so", Sakurako said. "Anyway, let's get going. Our audience awaits us!"

Sakurako and I walked up to a group of excited children.

"Greetings everyone", I greeted. "It's so nice to meet you all!"

"Indeed", Sakurako started. "Now where is the birthday girl?"

With that, a young girl rushed up to us.

"Here here", she exclaimed excitedly. "I'm the birthday girl!"

"Ah", I started. "So it is you."

With this, I knelt down on my knee.

"Happy birthday", I greeted.

"Wow", the birthday girl said in awe. "A real life knight!"

"Indeed", I said before standing up. "And today, the princess and I are here to ensure that you have a wonderful birthday."

"Now then", Sakurako started. " let us kick off this birthday celebration with the cutting of cake! Please follow us, everyone!"

With that, a bunch of excited children began rushing ahead of us.

Then, I suddenly felt a tiny hand grab onto my mine.

I looked down, and saw that it was the birthday girl.

"Mr Knight, Mr Knight", she started excitedly. "Can you please walk with me?!"

When I saw this little girl cling onto me like that…it reminded me of another little girl very dear to me.

Doing my best to keep in my emotions, I kneeled down before smiling at her.

"Of course", I replied. "It would be my honor."

The party had ended, and Sakurako and I were walking back to the changing rooms.

"Well done on your first day as a birthday party entertainer, Tsukasa", she praised.

"But of course", I stated. "This was a walk in the park for a star such as I!"

After I said this, Sakurako suddenly giggled.

"What's so funny", I asked.

"I was thinking about the birthday girl", Sakurako revealed. "She was clinging to you the whole time. And she didn't want you to leave when the party was over."

"Yeah", I said; a soft smile coming to my face.

"Why are you smiling like that", Sakurako asked.

"That girl…", I started. "She reminded me of my little sister when she was that age."

"Your little sister", Sakurako asked. "Oh, I think I remember you mentioning her when Aoyagi-San was telling us about the homecoming dance. Saki is her name right?"

"Yes", I replied. "From the moment she was born, she has been suffering from an illness.

"She has", Sakurako asked. "That's awful."

"When we were children, our parents took as to see a show", I revealed. "And it put such a big smile on Saki's face. It was from that moment on that I decided I would become a star, so that I could put on shows that would make people smile like my sister did that day!"

After I said this, Sakurako smiled at me.

"If that is why you want to become a star, then I hope you succeed."
