Chapter 20 Once in a Lifetime
Rui's POV
I arrived at Sekai, and was pleasantly surprised at what I saw.
Tsukasa was sitting on the stage, and everybody was looking at his phone.
"Rui-Kun", Emu said excitedly when she saw me.
"Greetings, Emu-Kun", I greeted as I walked up to everybody. "And greetings, Tsukasa-Kun. I'm surprised to see you here. Isn't it quite late in New York?"
"I returned from the Homecoming dance a few hours ago", Taukasa revealed. "However, since it's the weekend, I decided to come and visit Sekai instead of going to bed."
"When he came, I went to tell Emu-Chan", Miku revealed. "And then she called Nene-Chan and Emiko-Chan!"
"Well", I started. "I'm actually glad that you are all here. Now I can discuss something with all of you."
"What is it", Tsukasa asked.
"I have been offered quite the opportunity", I revealed. "However, I am not sure if I should accept it or not."
…
I had just finished telling everyone about the offer, and Emiko's eyes were sparkling with excitement.
"I can't believe it", she exclaimed. "The Tom Gray not only wants to make a movie based on your show, but he wants you to be his first assistant director as well?!"
"Rui, that's amazing", Nene stated.
"How come you're conflicted about accepting the offer", Tsukasa asked.
"If I accept this offer, then I may have to take a break from my role as the CENTER THEATRE's director", I pointed out.
"You bring up a good point", Taukasa said. "It may not look good to take a break from a job not long after you started it."
"Exactly", I agreed. "But, this is such a once in a lifetime opportunity. If I decline, I doubt that I'll ever get a chance like this again."
After I said this, we all began thinking.
"Rui", Nene started. "You told me that the reason why you wanted to make a show based on Genbu-San's life story was because of the message it could send. Because it is a story that shows people that hope can always be found, even in the darkest of times."
"Yes", I said.
"Well", Nene started. "If that story was to be turned into a film, then you could that message would reach way more people."
"Nene-Chan's right", Emu agreed. "If your show was turned into a movie, then it could make way more people smile!"
"Plus", Emiko added. "It may take a while before production on the movie actually starts, so you may have some time before you would actually have to take a break as the director of the CENTER THEATRE."
After I heard these words, I began thinking.
Then…I smiled.
"Thank you for saying those things, everyone", I said. "It made me realise things that I hadn't thought about before."
"So", Tsukasa started. "Have you made your decision, Rui?"
"I have", I replied. "This opportunity is too good to pass up. Therefore, I will accept Tom Gray's offer."
