Chapter 53 I Miss You
Tsukasa's POV

The head of the musical theater department was addressing the students during an assembly.

"Romance is a theme that is included in a majority of stories", she pointed out. "In about a week's time, it will be Valentines Day, a holiday which is associated with romance. Therefore, on Valentines Day, you and a partner must do a romantic performance. It can either be a romantic dialogue, or a romantic musical performance. I wish you the best of luck."

With this, the assembly ended.

I got up and was about to leave, but before I could, I felt someone tap my shoulder.

I turned around…and saw Sakurako.

Even though we said we'd like to continue being friends…we haven't really talked to each other since she confessed her true feelings to me.

"Oh", I started. "Greetings, Sakurako."

"Greetings Tsukasa", Sakurako greeted. "I was wondering if you would be interested in performing together for this assignment?"

"Oh", I said in shock. "Are you sure?"

"What do you mean", Sakurako asked.

"Well", I started. "It's just…are you okay with doing a romantic performance with someone who rejected your romantic feelings?"

After I asked this, Sakurako crossed her arms and pouted.

"I'm insulted that you think such little of me, Tsukasa", she stated. "I am a professional. I can put my personal feelings aside for the sake of the performance!"

Before I could say anything to this…Sakurako suddenly grabbed onto my hands before looking up at me.

"Plus", she started. "You and I haven't really been speaking to each other since that day. I miss you, Tsukasa."

After Sakurako said this, I looked away from her, now feeling really guilty.

"I'm sorry I've been avoiding you", I apologized. "It's just…I was unsure how I was supposed to act in front of you after what happened. I…didn't want to end up accidentally hurting you again."

"You're not the only one at fault here", Sakurako stated, which made me look at her. "I avoided you too. I tried to just be happy for you, but the truth is…it hurt to see you so in love with someone else."

"I'm sorry", I apologized.

"You have nothing to be sorry for", Sakurako stated. "I just…want us to be friends again."

"So do I", I said.

Then, both Sakurako and I smiled…before giving each other a hug.

"Okay then", she started as she pulled away from me. "Now that we've sorted that out, what should we do for our Valentines Day performance?"

"Well", I started. "We've already done a romantic dialogue, so why don't we perform a song together this time?"

"I think that's an excellent idea", Sakurako replied. "We already know that we have good acting chemistry together. I want to see if we also sound good singing together."

"Then it has been decided", I stated.

"Indeed it has", Sakurako said. "Now then, what song should we sing?"

After thinking about it for a moment…the perfect song came to mind.
