Chapter 55 Kitty!
Toya's POV
I had arrived at Weekend Garage.
"Hey there, Toya", I heard An greet me.
I then turned my head, and spotted her sitting down with one of the kittens on her lap.
"Hello, Shiraishi-San", I greeted.
Then, I walked up to An before sitting down next to her.
"They've gotten a bit big", I pointed out, referring to kittens.
"They have", An agreed. "In fact, they're now old enough to leave their mother."
"They are", I asked. "Have you found homes for them yet?"
"We've already found homes for three of them", An revealed, before holding the kitten up. "But we still haven't found a home for this little one."
After An said this, I began thinking.
"You know", I started. "When I was younger, I wanted to have a pet cat."
"Really", An asked.
"Yes", I replied. "But my parents wouldn't allow me to have one. They said that taking care of a pet is a lot of work, and that it would distract me from practicing piano and violin."
"Is that so", An asked. "In that case, why don't you adopt this little kitten right here!"
"You…want me to adopt the kitten", I asked in shock.
"Why not", An asked. "I mean, you have your own place now, so your parents can't tell you if you can have a pet or not!"
"That is true", I agreed. "Plus, our apartment building does allow you to have pets. But, will Saki and I be able to take care of a baby and a pet?"
"Oh, yeah", An said. "I forgot about that."
"Tell you what", I started. "Tonight I'll ask Saki how she feels about adopting a kitten."
That Night
I had just told Saki about the kitten, and her eyes lit up.
"Adopt one of the kitties", she asked excitedly.
"Yes", I replied. "Is that something you would be interested in?"
"When I was kid, I always wanted to have a pet", Saki revealed. "But…I was always in and out of the hospital, so it wasn't really possible to get one."
"I see", I said. "So, do you want to adopt the kitten?"
"I do", Saki replied excitedly.
"But", I started. "Do you think we will be able to take care of a pet and a baby?"
"Sure we can", Saki replied. "I mean, tons of people take care of pets and babies at the same time!"
"You have a point", I agreed. "Plus, cats are not really a high maintenance pet."
"So", Saki started. "Are we getting a pet kitty?"
After Saki asked this, I smiled at her.
"I guess we are."
The Next Day
Saki and I were at Weekend Garage to pick up our kitten.
"Here you go", An said, before passing the kitten to Saki. "Please take good care of her."
"I will", Saki reassured. "I promise!"
After Saki said this, she held up the kitten and smiled at her.
"Hi there", she greeted with a soft voice. "What's your name?"
"Since it was a litter of four, each member of Vivid BAD SQUAD named one of the kittens", An revealed. "Toya named this one Cookie."
"He did", Saki asked. "That's so cute, Toya-Kun!"
"We can change it if you don't like it", I said.
"No way", Saki exclaimed. "The name you gave her is perfect!"
After Saki said this, she smiled at the kitten.
"Hi there, Cookie", she greeted. "Toya-Kun and I are gonna take good care of you! I promise!"
