2.
Waste, Try Again
Spinel was in a bad mood.
To think, months of planning, money wasted, all down the drain.
Stupid brat.
It was all her fault.
Spinel's plan had been perfect from the beginning. He had hacked the brat's Rotom phone, reading everything she wrote, trying to find a weakness he could exploit for later. He didn't get much from that angle, just the usual foolishness of children and their wonder for Pokemon.
He waited for the right time.
Until one of his crew reported to him about the brat's mother hiring a pack of nobodies to be her bodyguards. Spinel laughed. Rising Volt Tacklers, explorers. Useless, useless. Spinel kept an eye on them, hacked their navigation system as soon as they reached Kanto.
They were late.
And yet all that planning mattered little when the brat got away.
Spinel didn't know what had happened.
He had cornered the brat. Umbreon had bit her in place, her Sprigatito had been paralyzed by Magneton. All that Spinel was to do was to get close and snatch the pendant from her.
As he reached out, a bright light exploded from the pendant, blinding Spinel and scaring his Pokemon back to their Pokeballs. An explosion forced him to retreat seconds later, already alarms sounding everywhere.
And the brat and her cat?
They were gone.
"I see….the girl…disappeared?"
"Yes, sir. I…was taken by surprise by whatever Pokemon decided to lend her a hand."
"You saw nothing more?"
"Nothing, sir."
"Hmm...how curious."
"Sir?"
"I must say, Spinel…I applaud your methods but your results leave much to be desired."
"It won't happen again, sir. I…"
"No. Your part, for the time being, is over."
"Sir?"
"You attracted too much attention. They are watching."
"..."
"For the time being, we stay in the shadows…however, after the noise has died down you will join Amethio and his team…at least until you find the child and bring me the pendant."
"..."
"Dismissed."
"Yes, sir."
