Beacon Courtyard (Night)
'I can't keep this up.' Weiss thought to herself. She and Blake had just arrived at the Academy, and were trying to keep three separate threats from the students inside. At first, it was just a horde of Grimm. Then, it was a bunch of White Fang Grunts. And now, Ironwood's robots were turning on them. The Schnee was strong and quick enough to dispose of many Grimm and androids in a matter of seconds, but unfortunately, in her exhaustion, she didn't notice a Beowulf sneaking up behind her.
"Take this!" Shadow said, using his powers to pass through Weiss' body and punch the Grimm into oblivion. Once the threat was neutralized, he turned to the girl. "Be more careful. You cannot afford to lose focus here." he told her.
"Who are you?" Weiss asked, never having seen the strange boy before.
"Call me Shadow." the faunus said. "I'll help you deal with these monsters." Shadow put his hand on Weiss' shoulder, and in a flash of green light, all her exhaustion was gone. Before she could thank him though, he had vanished. "Shadow Dragon!" Turning to the Grimm horde, she saw her new ally repeatedly biting his opponents with his scarf, annihilating everything in his path.
'So this is Dominic's friend?' the Schnee wondered, recalling what the blonde had said when they were plotting their infiltration.
Meanwhile, Blake was being overwhelmed by the dozens of White Fang Grunts all attacking her at once. Just as she was about to be cut down, a circular wall of ice protected her from any further damage. 'What the?'
"I see you need my help." Gregory said with a smug look on his face from atop the ice wall. From his perch, he unleashed a flurry of cold wind at every Grunt he could see, incapacitating them all. He then allowed the ice wall to melt, letting Blake go.
"Thank you, Gregory." the faunus said, a bit chilly from all the ice. Thankfully, that got rid of her exhaustion.
"Blake, Gregory! Are you two okay?" Weiss asked.
"We're fine. What about you?" Gregory asked.
Weiss responded by gesturing to the broken robot parts behind her. "That's the last of them, but I almost didn't make it. Dominic's faunus friend bailed me out, though. He also got rid of my tiredness."
"Shadow?" Blake wondered aloud. Hearing the sound of conflict, she turned to where the snake faunus was battling, practically mowing the Grimm down. "Woah."
"I'm glad he's on our side." Gregory said. "Ivy's bringing Yang down here with Schrodinger. They should be here in a minute."
"Wait, you're bringing the cat?" Weiss asked. "That thing did nothing at Mountain Glenn! How is it going to help here?"
"Just trust me on this." Gregory assured, his eyes glowing blue. "Weiss, I'll head with you. Blake, I told Ivy and Yang to try and find you. Hang tough until they come, okay?"
"Got it." Blake said, running toward the cafeteria. Hearing a familiar voice in the building, she hid and discreetly looked through a shattered window and saw someone she never wanted to see again. "Adam?" she said, just above a whisper.
"Hello, my darling." Adam said, turning to face his ex.
Beacon Courtyard (Night)
Team JNPR, Penny, and Connor were making their way through the ruined streets when they came across Ozpin. Pyrrha and Connor approached the headmaster, followed soon after by Jaune.
Torchwick's Airship (Night)
"Was that a dragon!?" Dominic yelled as a gigantic Grimm flew past the plane.
"Fight now! Talk later!" Ruby yelled, decapitating a Griffon. A Sword Beam flew past her head, exploding against a familiar parasol. Turning around, she saw Neo.
"Hello again, ice cream lady." Dominic said, getting ready to fire another Sword Beam. Smirking, the pink/white/brown haired girl snapped a photo of the siblings with her Scroll.
Cafeteria (Night)
"Running away again?" Adam taunted. "Is that what you've become, my love? A coward?"
"Why are you doing this?" Blake asked, frozen in fear.
"You and I were going to change the world, remember?" Adam said, slowly walking closer to the girl. "We were destined to light the fires of the revolution. Consider this the spark." The bull faunus unsheathed his sword and aimed it at a downed human student. Seconds before he was able to strike them, he was pushed back by Blake.
"I'm not running." she said, her golden eyes glistening in the firelight.
"You will." Adam said, pushing down on Blake's weapon and kicking her to the floor. "But not before you suffer for your betrayal, my love."
Beacon Courtyard (Night)
"One was definitely too much." Gregory said as he, Shadow, Weiss, and Team CVFY battled an Atlesian Paladin.
"Can't you do what you did to the last one?" Weiss asked as she weaved out of the way of the Paladin's attacks.
"I would if I knew how!" the Blue Rose shot back before turning to face Shadow. "What about you? Can't you do that Shadow Dragon thing again?"
"Not consecutively." the faunus said, phasing through a punch attack.
"Well, I guess now's as good a time as any." Coco said, turning to her partner. "Velvet."
"Really!?" the rabbit faunus asked excitedly.
"Just make them count." Coco told her.
Velvet, smiling, finally used her weapon. A hard-light version of Scarlet Showstopper appeared in her grip before she stabbed the Paladin in the stomach. The sword vanished, and in its place, Ivy's knives, Adam and Eve appeared in her hands as hard-light projections. She used the Swashbuckler Weapon to sever the robot's limbs. The knives vanished, and finally, a photocopy of Penny's swords appeared in the air behind her before they were all launched at the Paladin, destroying it.
"Holy sheep, that was AWESOME!" Gregory praised.
"Wait, she had THAT the entire time!?" Weiss asked Coco, who smirked and nodded in response.
Torchwick's Airship (Night)
'I hate this bitch.' Dominic thought to himself as he tried to land a hit on Neo, who just kept dodging. Furious, the pyromancer unleashed several Sword Beams in a row. But unfortunately, none of them met their mark.
Ruby, meanwhile, was using Crescent Rose's sniper mode to shoot at her opponent with Dust rounds. One of them managed to hit Neo, only for the mute to shatter like glass, revealing Torchwick standing behind her with Melodic Cudgel aimed directly at Ruby. He fired, and a round of Fire Dust was launched at the young Rose.
"RUBY!" Dominic yelled, jumping in the way of the shot. He took the attack, but thanks to his unique physiology, was mostly unharmed. He turned to face Torchwick, his eye blazing. "You're going to regret that." he said.
"Little Red, Big Red." Torchwick said, unfazed by the threat. "You two are just determined to be the heroes of Vale, aren't you?"
"What are you doing?" Ruby asked. "Without these ships, the Grimm will destroy everything."
"That's the plan." the orange-haired criminal said before firing another shot at Ruby, only for the ship's turbulence to throw off his aim. Ruby took the chance to kick him in the stomach before using her Semblance to rush back to her brother.
"You really think this will work out well for you?" Dominic asked Torchwick and Neo. "You understand that once Cinder's done with you, she'll get rid of you, right? What are you even getting from this whole thing?"
"You're right about one thing, red." Torchwick said. "Once she's through with me, I'm dead. That's why I can't afford to lose."
Neo lunged forward, forcing Dominic to counter with his own blade and throw her a few feet. He then launched an explosive fireball at her falling body, making her fall faster until she crashed into the ground. Despite all of that, Neo still managed to stand up. "Oh, come on." Dominic complained.
"I may be a gambling man, but even I know there are some bets you just don't take." Torchwick said. "Like it or not, the people that hired me are going to change the world. You can't stop them, I can't stop them. You know the old saying: "If you can't beat them,"
"Shut up, already!" Dominic yelled, letting loose a torrent of flames in Torchwick's direction. Neo, worried, defended the man with her parasol. The flames only intensified once she jumped in, and the intense force ended up throwing her off the airship.
"Neo!" Torchwick yelled in anguish.
"I don't care what you say. We will stop them." Ruby declared. "And I will stop you. BET ON THAT!"
The two siblings rushed towards Torchwick, weapons in hand. Dominic shrouded his sister in a veil of flames, protecting her from projectile attacks. Covered in her brother's protection, Ruby slashed at Torchwick, cleaving through his weapon with ease.
"You got spirit." the man said, throwing his now worthless weapon away. "But this is the real world. The real world is cold. The real world doesn't care about spirit. You wanna be heroes? Then play the part and die like every other Huntsman in history! Ask for me. I'll do what I do best. Lie. Steal. Cheat. And survive!"
A shrill roar silenced all three combatants, and an overwhelming feeling of unease washed over them. Turning around, Torchwick saw something absolutely terrifying. A giant bird with black and red wings was flying above them. The bird's eyes were clear blue, and its whole body seemed to resemble the letter Y. While Ruby and Torchwick were frightened, Dominic was in awe.
The bird's feathers all started to glow red, and before anybody was able to even think, a beam of blood-red energy was fired at Torchwick. When the light from the attack died down, a stone statue in Torchwick's likeness was all that was left.
"What the heck is that thing?" Ruby asked, totally paralyzed.
"Yveltal." Dominic answered. As if to respond to its name being said, Yveltal let out a bloodcurdling cry that was heard across the Kingdom.
