Beacon Courtyard (Night)

"That went better than expected." Sun said after the group finally got rid of all the Paladins.

"Weiss! Gregory!" Yang said as she ran toward the duo. By her side was Ivy, who had Schrodinger on her shoulder. "Have you heard from Ruby or Dominic?"

"They saw Torchwick's ship and blasted away." Weiss said, completely spent.

"What the hell does that mean!?" Ivy asked.

"It means that Ruby got on Dominic's back and they jumped several miles into the air." the Schnee elaborated. Yang and Gregory's memories were instantly brought back to the Christmas where Ruby thought it'd be a smart idea to use Dominic's magic to light the tree. Long story short, they needed to remodel half the house.

"What about Blake?" Yang asked.

"She ran after an Alpha, and some members of the White Fang." Wiess said, pointing to the cafeteria.

"You look for Ruby, I'll meet up with Blake." Yang said before running off, Ivy and Gregory hot on her tail.

Underneath Beacon (Night)

It was a race against time for Connor, Pyrrha, Jaune, and Ozpin, who were all running as fast as they could to the Vault.

"What is this place?" Jaune asked.

"It's a Vault. Every major Huntsman Academy has one." Connor said. "As for what they've got locked up... You'll see soon." Both Ozpin and Pyrrha silently wondered how he knew this, but decided it wasn't important now.

"What would the school have to hide?" Jaune asked. That's when they finally reached the end of the hallway. The blonde Knight's eyes widened at the sight of two metal pods. One empty, and one occupied by a woman with brown hair and a grievous injury to the chest.

"Ozpin, I may not agree with your methods, but we don't have a choice anymore." Connor said as the headmaster accessed the controls. "Do what you must."

The man nodded and turned to Pyrrha. "Pyrrha, get to the pod." The redhead, feeling she had no choice, did as she was told. "Mr. Arc, Mr. Schnee, would you please stand guard?"

"I don't take orders from you." Connor said coldly before turning back the way they came, waiting for Cinder to show.

"What do we do now?" Pyrrha asked Ozpin.

"We do nothing." the man said as the empty pod opened. "You, Miss Nikos, have a choice to make."

After a brief moment of hesitation, Pyrrha entered the pod.

Cafeteria (Night)

"This could've been our day, can't you see that?" Adam asked Blake, approaching menacingly as his ex was still on the ground.

"I never wanted this!" she cried. "I wanted equality! I wanted peace!" She used her weapon to shoot at Adam, only for him to absorb the blow with his Semblance.

"What you want is impossible!" the bull faunus said, jabbing the hilt of his weapon into her cheek and pushing her back down. "But I understand, because all I want is you, Blake." He kicked her weapon away as he walked closer. "And as I set out upon this world and deliver the justice mankind so greatly deserves, I will make it my mission to destroy everything you love."

"Blake! Where are you!?" Yang yelled out after punching a White Fang Grunt.

Adam grinned as Blake's expression became one of pure horror. "Starting with her." the bull faunus said.

Beacon Vault (Night)

"Pyrrha!" Jaune cried out as his partner convulsed in pain from inside the pod.

"I'm so sorry." Ozpin said quietly.

Connor's eyes flashed green as an arrow flew past him, nearly piercing Amber's pod. Thankfully, it was stopped in midair with his magic. "We've got company." he said, his brow furrowing as he turned to face Cinder.

Cafeteria (Night)

Hearing her partner cry out in pain, Yang turned to look into one of the cafeteria windows. What she saw sent her into a blind rage. Adam had stabbed Blake's stomach with his weapon, then glared tauntingly in the blonde's direction. "GET AWAY FROM HER!" she yelled as she used her weapon to rocket herself towards Adam.

Both combatants prepared to strike the other, but were stopped in their tracks by a familiar snake faunus. "Don't you dare lay a finger on her." Shadow told Adam as he kept a firm grip on both his sword and Yang's fist. He released Yang, allowing her to attend to Blake while Adam was still occupied with him. "Leave this place now." he said to Yang.

"But, he just-" Yang tried to say.

"I'll take care of him." Shadow said, snapping his fingers and enveloping Yang and Blake in his Aura, making them undetectable to everyone but him. Once he felt their presence leave the building, he focused all of his attention on Adam, delivering a palm strike to his midsection and launching him a few meters. "You disgust me." he said, his scarf transforming into a weapon made of Aura.

"Really? Even though what I'm doing is for the sake of faunus everywhere!?" Adam retorted. "I'm doing what must be done to ensure that we can live happily!"

"Don't waste your breath lying to me." Shadow said, his visible eye gleaming in the firelight. "You're just a remorseless criminal. None of this is for the faunus. It's only to satisfy your sadistic thirst for blood. You killed people without a second thought, thinking it fun." A snake made of Aura lunged at Adam, biting into his leg until he cut it apart with his sword. "Tell me. Do you think it's fun when someone doesn't return to their family?" Another snake coiled around Adam's torso, sinking its teeth into his back. Through sheer force, he broke free. "Time to die."

Shadow lunged at his target and willed his scarf to once again bite at Adam's Aura. The serpentine constructs managed to land a hit on his wrist, but his free arm used his sword to slash at Shadow's leg. Wincing in pain, the white-haired faunus accidentally let go of his opponent's wrist, allowing Adam to attack with full force. At the very last second, Shadow evaded the strike by a hair.

"Now or never. Shadow Dragon!" he yelled. His scarf started to glow bright black as countless snakes made of Aura lunged at Adam, biting him furiously. Arms, legs, neck, torso, head. Adam's entire being was being subjected to the onslaught, his Aura nearly torn to shreds. Just as Shadow Dragon ended, a bright red flash filled Shadow's vision, and he was split in half.

Adam had used his Semblance to absorb the bites, then retaliated with a giant Sword Beam. "What a pity." the bull faunus said as he left the building.
