Chapter Eight

She ended up falling asleep after crying in Matt's arms for a while, the husband truly believing that she's been overdoing it for a while; maybe they rushed this, and should've just spent a few days alone. I mean, he loves his niece; he truly does, but he needs to be a husband and father at times too. And right now, the job that he really needs to do is that of Gabby's husband. She needs him to hold her in his arms, and just make her feel better; and that was exactly what the husband was in the midst of doing right now. He was holding her in his arms as he made sure that she just breathed and relaxed in his arms, even though she was asleep; and just because she was asleep, that didn't mean that Matt wasn't monitoring her breathing. By doing so, it made sure that Gabby was breathing enough and just taking it easy with her husband. And let's just say that Matt was glad that she was sleeping right now, as it seemed that was what she really needed right now.

She needed time to rest, without the boys; and she just needed to have him hold her in his arms, which is what he plans on doing for as long as she needs him to. And that even includes when she's awake, which she's starting to do. Seeing her stir in his arms, Matt smiled as he rubbed Gabby's back as a way to make sure that she stays calm right now; that she just takes it easy and relaxes. That was really what she needed to do, and they both knew that, which was why he needs to take this time with Gabby, and Camila knows it. She even came up here and checked on them, and she just knew that she was going to be babysitting for a while. But that didn't mean that Matt and Gabby are going anywhere, they're just upstairs and resting with each other. That's what he needs to do with her, as she's emotionally drained right now; she just needs him to show her love and comfort right now, as they hold each other close in bed. And he'll do that for her each and every day.

Matt then decided to start running his hand up and down Gabby's leg, the father (and husband) doing that to let her know that he's right here, and that he's not going anywhere. Just leaving a soft kiss on Gabby's forehead, Matt smiled when he felt her cuddle up to him more and wrap her arms around his back even tighter. That's when the silence that's been filling up their room since he first came up here an hour or so ago was broken, by Gabby talking to him. "Have you been up here the entire time?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she asked him whether he's been up here (in bed) the entire time. "Yes, I didn't go anywhere baby. I'm here for you." Gabby took a breath as she heard Matt tell her that. "God, I'm a horrible mom. I…" Matt then stopped her. "Hey, don't even say that baby. You aren't a horrible mom, you just needed to stake some time for yourself. Time that I can already see has done wonders for you. How are you now?" Gabby took a breath and just sighed.

"Worried, scared…" Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Everything that I said downstairs?" Gabby took a breath, agreeing with Matt. "Matt, I hate to think that negatively; I really do, because I want the boys to meet their abuelo. I am so sorry that I'm thinking so…" Matt shook his head when he heard Gabby say that, because he didn't want her to think that way; especially since he's thought the same way before, so he can relate. "Hey, I can relate baby. I completely get it why you're thinking that way right now, because I just went through all of this with my mom." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "But I know that it's not the same." Gabby shook her head. "No, it is the same baby; I promise that I can see that it's the same, don't think that it isn't the same situation. We both didn't know where our parents were, and that scared the both of us." Matt took a breath when he heard Gabby say that, well aware that they were both scared right now.

And that was especially the case for Gabby, as he was her father. "I know, I keep saying that I wouldn't worry about this so that it doesn't affect my recovery but…" Matt shook his head. "We both knew that wasn't going to work baby. We both knew that was just a front, and that you would break it shortly after something set you off; and that's what happened today. Something set you off, and you just got overwhelmed. Baby, I know that's what happened, because I've felt this way before. You don't think that I feel the same way baby? I'm worried for him, and I truly hate what this has done to your family; to our family. I want you to know that Gabby, because I do want him to meet the boys; that's just a fact that you need to know." Putting her hand on Matt's face, Gabby got close to him before kissing him softly; after all, she knew full well that he did want her dad to meet the boys. She can just see it in his eyes, that it's exactly what he wants; and because he's said it.

He's said that it's due to the fact that he's the boys' only grandfather, and that means something to the both of them. They want their sons to have much of a family as they can, and they know that they're going to be getting information soon. "I just hate that I can't give you the answers that you want right now. If I could be in Chicago, I would be there searching; and I hope you know that Gabby." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that. "I would rather you be here anyways. I want to have my husband to hold me in his arms when I need to break down, just like I did." Matt agreed with Gabby, smiling as he left a soft kiss on her forehead this afternoon. "Baby, I'll always be here to give you the comfort that you need; you don't need to ask me to give you comfort, because I'll do it right away. You're my wife, I love you…and I just want what's best for you. We both know that's the case, and that it'll always be the case." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, well aware that was the case. And let's just say that she was very happy to be in his arms right now, she was happy to have him holding her in his arms; god, the way he holds her is incredible…and she's so glad that this is what they're doing right now.

"Oh god, the boys. Their feedings…" Matt smiled. "I snuck away and brought some bottles downstairs, Matteo and Noah are fine. I promise baby, they're all safe in your mom and Eva's care; and they have a bunch of bottles downstairs to take care of them for a while." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, smiling as she looked at the man she loves. She then proceeded to wrap her arms around his torso and just cuddled up to him as they held each other close. At the same time, Matt pressed his lips to her forehead and made her feel extremely loved right now; but that's because she is loved, as he loves her more than anything in the entire world. That will always be the case, and Gabby knows that. I mean, Gabby is the love of Matt's life, and he just wants to make her happy; and the truth is, he thinks that he can do that tonight. But not here. Or maybe. He doesn't know, but first…he needs to go ask Camila something. "Hey, you okay for a minute?"

Gabby looked at Matt. "Do you need to go talk to my mom?" Matt smiled. "Yeah, I just want to let her know that you're awake. And I may want to ask her if she can watch the boys for us tonight." Gabby was confused when she heard Matt say that. "Why baby?" Matt took a breath as he leaned in and proceeded to kiss Gabby softly, taking things slow with her as she moved her hand to the back of her head. "I want to take you out on a date." Gabby sighed when Matt said that. "Not yet Matt. I want to be with the boys." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before smiling at her. "Then how about I ask Eva and your mom if they can go back to the penthouse? Maybe we can be downstairs with the boys, and we can cuddle in the living room with me in my boxers. We can have a date night there, and just take it easy. I think we need some time alone, but not in our room; unless you want to take a bath?" Gabby smirked as she heard Matt say that. "Stitches."

Matt laughed. "So many things that I want to do with you, but I know that we need to take it easy." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, before leaning in and kissing him softly. "Can we just ask my mom to stay here and take care of the boys for us? I can feed them but…I think…" That's when Gabby heard her mom. "You need some time to relax and just take some alone time with your husband?" Turning their heads, the couple looked at her mom. "Oh, I didn't hear you come up mom." Camila smiled. "I wanted to come check on you, and just see how you're doing. Eva just got back from the condo anyways and got clothes, so she's going to stay here." Gabby agreed with her mom when she said that. "And that means that me and Eva are going to spend time together, and I really wouldn't be against spending time alone with all of my grandchildren." Gabby took a breath when she heard her mom say that she could take time with the boys, which she likes the idea of.

"I just don't want to be a bad mom or seem selfish for wanting to do that." Camila shook her head. "Hey, that's not the case sweetie. You can still be a good mom but ask your family to take care of your sons. Sweetie, you really think I didn't take a bit of time with your dad after you were born? Heck, we got away for a weekend a week after you were born. And the truth is, I think that's what you guys need. If it's not somewhere else, then it's going to be in here." Gabby smiled when she heard her mom say that, taking a breath. "I think I could go for some time with my husband, just him as we cuddle in bed. But if the boys need me…" Camila smiled. "We're right downstairs with them, and you guys can relax up here. I'll even make supper for you guys and everything. I can clearly see that you guys need this time, especially you Gabby. It's like a bunch of emotions that you've been holding back for a while just came out." Gabby took a breath when she heard that.

At the same time, she turned to look at Matt. "I can't help but think the same thing baby. There must be things that you haven't been able to talk to Matt about while you were pregnant, because you were worried about what effect that it may have on your pregnancy." Gabby took a breath when she heard her mom say that, before turning to look at Matt. "Gabby, this isn't my decision to make. If you want to take time with me, then we can sit in here and relax like we both know you want to do." Gabby took a breath. "I just feel like we've never been alone since I got home, if that makes sense." Matt smiled when he heard Gabby say that. "Because we've always had the boys to worry about." Gabby took a breath. "Does that make sense?" Camila smiled, agreeing with her daughter. "Of course it makes sense sweetie, and I love the way you put it; because that most certainly is the truth, you haven't just been able to relax and concentrate on yourselves in a while."

Matt smiled when he heard Camila say that, as he was quite interested in where this was going. "Would you want to do that babe? Just some time with me and you getting quality time together?" Gabby smiled when she heard Matt ask her whether she wanted to take some time alone and be with him for now. "It starts in an hour. I need to make bottles, then I want my husband alone." Camila agreed with her daughter when she said that, and so did Matt; glad that she and Matt are taking time alone. "And this is overnight. You guys get to be alone for the night." Gabby agreed, smiling as that was what she needs.
