Hi Readers: Well, if that wasn't a nice romantic night that I decided to write for Jay and Alex. I hope that you guys liked it and continue to like the story. Now, let's get back to present time; and snap Alex out of what she was thinking about just now.
Quick Note: Since Jay and Alex moved out of the headquarters and into a larger home (for their twins, and for Max); I have decided to Will and Natalie will now be living in their old penthouse/condo on the 22nd Floor.
Chapter Seventeen
Are You Okay Alex?
Present Time – Primary Suite, Halstead Home
She felt dazed and confused as she came to this evening, the wife resting in bed rather than sitting downstairs with her sister-in-law just like she was before she fell into something; something that she doesn't know what it was. All she knew was that she felt weird, and her husband looks quite worried right now. And there was a reason why that would be the case, as she ended up passing out, which may have negatively affected their children, even though he would much rather not think that way. In fact, he doesn't even want to worry about that right now as that was not really what mattered to Jay right now. He and Alex can have more children, but he only has one wife; and that's what he needs to check on right now, especially now that she was coming to. Moving his hand to her stomach as he sat down next to her, Jay smiled. "Hey." Looking around the room, Alex was just confused as to where she was right now; and just what was happening. Last time she checked, she was downstairs on the couch with Natalie. Why wasn't she there right now? Why was she up here in her bed? The bed that she didn't think she was in before she woke up.
Just looking around the room, Alex was still so confused. "Where am I?" Jay smiled when he heard Alex speak to him, as that was at least something that could calm him down a bit; at least until she could talk to him more. The truth was, the husband was still worried about their children; but they could be dealt with tomorrow, right now Alex just needs to rest. She needs more rest than he truly believed at first. "You're in bed. I just brought you up here after you passed out downstairs." Alex was worried when she heard Jay say that, before putting her hand on his (which was on her stomach). "Hey, the kids are okay; I promise that they're okay. You were on the couch and passed out there, you didn't fall; and I just carried you upstairs in my muscular arms that you love so much." Alex smiled as she heard Jay tell her that, before putting her hand on his cheek and stroking it with his thumb. She then leaned her forehead against his and just smiled due to the fact that he truly is the love of her life, which Jay is well aware of. And it's something that he'll always be awake of, just like he'll always be aware of how Alex is doing right now.
"Uhm, do you know what happened?" Jay took a breath when Alex asked him what happened, because he wasn't exactly sure. "All I know is that you spaced out a bunch, and that got me worried; so me and will brought you up to bed so that you could take it easy and just relax." Alex agreed with Jay when he said that, well aware that was not the entire truth; but it was okay for now, as she didn't want to push Jay to tell her more than her was comfortable sharing with her. And that was due to the fact that she could tell that her husband was quite worried for her right now. She could see it in his eyes, and just the way he's speaking to her right now; there's this way that he talks to her when he's worried, and she could just hear it right now. The way he speaks to her when he's worried is just so recognizable, that she can recognize it in an instant. "Are Will and Natalie still here?" Jay shook his head when Alex asked him whether Will and Natalie were still here, which they most certainly weren't; not when Alex needs to rest, and Jay needs to concentrate all of his attention on her right now. "But I wish that Natalie was still here." Alex was confused.
"You want her to give me a check up?" Jay shook his head. "I know that you need to eat right now, and I'm just worried to leave you alone as I go get you food." Putting her hand on Jay's cheek, Alex smiled because her husband is so sweet; not to mention that he's very sexy and handsome. God, the way this man treats her; it's incredible, and she just falls in love with him more and more each and every day (which is something that her husband knows full well). "Jay, I'll be fine because I'm in bed right now." Jay agreed with his wife when she said that, smiling at her. He then bent down and proceeded to kiss her forehead softly. "I'm glad that you're okay right now. Actually…Max!" Max then proceeded to get up from his dog bed, making his way over to Jay and Alex's bed. "Up boy, get up." Max then proceeded to get up and ran up so that he could jump up on Jay and Alex's bed, just like he was told to do by his master. Walking on the bed, Max smiled at Jay. "Max, lay down next to Alex." Max agreed, going to do just that.
He then went to cuddle up to Alex's side, while also laying his head down on her stomach. Smiling as Max did that, Alex put her hand on his head and just stroked it with his thumb; after all, he was really adorable as he did this. And he was also quite comfortable. Turning to look at Jay, Alex smiled as this was perfect. "Let me guess, you don't trust me alone; but you do trust me alone with Max?" Jay smiled as he reached over his wife, before going ahead with scratching Max's head. "He's a good boy, and he most definitely will make sure that you're okay. Won't you buddy?" Max then proceeded to bark since he was spoken to. Laughing a bit, Alex smiled as she turned to look at Jay once again. After which, she watched as he bent down and proceeded to kiss her softly; just taking things nice and slow with his beautiful wife, Jay smirked due to the fact that she's incredibly sexy (along with being both the love his life, and the future mother of his children). "How about you turn on the TV and just take it easy?"
Alex agreed with Jay as he told her what to do, which is something that she's getting okay with more often than not; especially since she knows that it's due to the fact that he's worried right now. If he wasn't worried about her, then he wouldn't be telling her to do things that allow her to relax like she is right now; because that's the real reason that she's doing these things, so that she can relax for the sake of their children. And that's something that she's more than okay with doing. "I promise Jay, I'll turn the TV on and just take it easy." Jay agreed with Alex when she said that, before taking a breath. Moving his hand to her neck, Jay proceeded to stroke her cheek and then leaned over her. Kissing her forehead softly, Jay smiled. "I have your water bottle here, along with a granola bar? Can you eat it and just drink some for me babe? I think that you may have overheated again while your mind was racing." Alex sighed when she heard Jay say that. "Alex…" Alex then looked at Jay. "Sorry, sighing for the wrong thing."
Jay was confused when he heard Alex tell him that she was sighing for the wrong thing. "What do you mean Alex?" Alex took a breath when she heard Jay ask her what she meant, before proceeding to answer his question. "I was sighing because I hate that me letting my mind race, always means that I space out sometimes; and that makes you worry, which makes me wonder whether you'll want to do this again in the future." Jay just looked at his wife when she said that, in disbelief that she was even thinking that way; especially when he wants to be a father more than anything. He's incredibly happy over the fact that he and Alex are going to be parents, and that's something that's never going to change; he's always going to want to have children with his beautiful wife, regardless of where it happens. And if it happens here it Hawaii, then it's where it's going to happen; that's a guarantee. "Hey, don't even worry about that Alex. I mean that. I want to have a family with you, and that's never going to change." Alex agreed.
"Good, because I want to have at least two more kids with you." Jay smiled when he heard Alex say that, as that was something that he loved the idea of. "Maybe some boys next time?" Alex smiled. "Or we keep going until we have boys." Jay smirked when he heard Alex say that, for reasons that are not the same as hers, which Alex knew full well. "Seriously? Do you really have to think about it THAT way?" Jay snickered when he heard Alex say that, well aware of just what she was talking about. She was referring to the fact that he was thinking about in a way that wasn't the most appropriate to say the least, but that didn't mean that he wasn't going to think about it that way; after all, he loves making love to his gorgeous wife. "What? Can you really blame a guy for enjoying the feeling that comes with making love to his wife?" Alex agreed with Jay when he said that, well aware that was the case. "So, listen; I'm going to get you some food. How about you call Natalie and tell her how you're feeling? She was worried."
Alex agreed with Jay when he said that, before watching as he got up; smiling at his wife as he got up, Jay proceeded to lean over her and then kissed her softly. "Just take it easy and relax okay? And just remember that I'm just a call away if you need me okay? If you need me, I'm going to come right away." Alex agreed with Jay when he said that, well aware that's the case. Going to grab his hand, Alex smiled as she stroked it with her thumb. After which, Jay bent down and kissed her one last time. But rather than pulling away and looking at Alex, he pulled away from the kiss and turned around to walk out to the kitchen. "Tease!" Jay smirked when he heard Alex say that, before turning around to look at her. "Last time I checked that bra was a real tease." Looking down, Alex shook her head when she (finally) noticed that she was just wearing her lingerie at the moment. "Of course, you got me undressed." Jay smirked when he heard Alex say that, before going downstairs to get them some supper, which will make her feel better. At the same time, Alex grabbed her phone so that she could give Natalie a call this evening.
Casey Headquarters – 22nd Floor: Residence of Will and Natalie Halstead
She just finished taking her evening shower and having a nice supper with her loving husband as she found herself sitting in bed while using her laptop, reading some information that her and Will have recently gotten from the National Center for PTSD; a US government agency that was going to be a really good resource for the clinic that she and Will are running here at the headquarters. And now, she was going to read it after getting dressed for bed; at least, that was Natalie's plan before she heard her phone ring. Going to turn her head after she heard her phone ring (and recognizing the ringtone as that of either Jay or Alex), she went to see which one of her in-laws was currently calling her right now; and she had to say that she was quite happy over who was currently calling her, as she was definitely worried about her after the state in which they left her when they left their home this evening. That's when she decided to answer the call so that she could speak to her. "Hey Alex, let's just say that this is a welcome surprise call this evening." Alex agreed with her sister-in-law when she said that, able to tell that based on her tone.
"I can tell based on how you sound over the phone. I just hope that I'm not interrupting anything right now…." She could just hear it in her voice, the question that she's been getting from her sister-in-law ever since she and Will got married; whether they're trying for a baby. "Alex, not right now. Will isn't even in bed right now, he's out in the living room finishing up the latest Chicago Fire game." Alex seemed shocked when she heard her sister-in-law say that. "Soccer fan?" Natalie laughed. "Don't let him hear you call it soccer. He has Irish background, so to him it's Football." That's when the doctor heard her husband yell to hear. "THAT'S BECAUSE IT IS FOOTBALL! IT'S FOOTY!" Natalie then went to yell to her husband. "OH, SHUT UP! JUST ENJOY YOUR GAME, I'M ON THE PHONE!" Natalie then went back to her conversation that she was having with her sister-in-law. "Sorry." Alex laughed when Natalie said that. "I swear, both of our husbands do it! They listen into our phone calls and yell thinking that the person on the other end of the call can hear what they say." Natalie smiled when Alex said that. "Last time I checked, you did hear him." Alex sighed. "Trust me, I wish I didn't. I swear, if your husband texts my husband and tells him to talk to me about how it's Football…"
Natalie agreed and then spoke to her husband. "Will, if you text your brother; then you're sleeping on the couch." It was then clear to her that Will was about to do just that. "Okay." Alex just laughed as she heard Natalie say that. "Let me guess, he was about to do it?" Natalie agreed with Alex when she asked her if Will was about to do it. "I can only assume that's the case. Now, let's get back on topic. How are you Alex?" Alex was quite happy when Natalie asked her how she was doing. "I'm doing good. I'm resting, and just taking it easy. Jay went to get me a bit of the supper the boys made AND A PROTEIN SHAKE!" Alex said, making sure that Jay could hear her in the kitchen; at the same time, Natalie pulled her phone away. After all, it did hurt her ear to hear her yell. "Okay, did you really have to yell into the phone like that?" Alex sighed when Natalie said that. "Sorry, I wanted to make sure that Jay knew to bring me a protein shake. I think that I need to start having one more often than I currently do."
Natalie agreed with her sister-in-law when she said that, thinking that it's a good idea both as her sister-in-law and as a physician. "Okay, I am going to speak to you both as your sister-in-law and as a physician right now; and I think that your plan to have more protein shakes is definitely something that you should do. I think that you definitely need more energy in that body of yours, and they need to be full of protein." Natalie then went to look at a chart that she keeps on her laptop. "Especially since you're having twins. I actually have this resource that I'm going to send it to you." Alex snickered when she heard Natalie say that. "You just have it out and just happen to be able to send it?" Natalie snickered. "I'm on my laptop doing some work for the clinic, getting the information that me and Will recently got from the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in order; that way, I can send it to Matt in a way that he can understand. Heaven knows that he needs the information more than Jay needs it."
Alex agreed with Natalie as she told her that. "If you find anything for how spouses can help those with PTSD, I'd like to have it; and maybe send that to Gabby too." Natalie agreed with Alex when she said that, liking the idea. "Thanks for the idea, I hadn't even thought about it. I just know that Matt is still a bit overwhelmed recently. I always wonder whether he's taking on too much right now. I'm just glad that he and Gabby got away for a bit." Alex agreed with Natalie when she said that. "Okay, you're friends with him. You must know where he took her." Natalie snickered. "I wish. I have no idea where he took her, and I even tried to get it out of him when I did the boys' check up recently." Alex was confused when Natalie said that she did the boys' checkup recently, the boys being Matteo and Noah. "Wait, are Matteo and Noah okay? Is that why Matt and Gabby are away?"
Natalie's POV:
I could just hear the worry in Alex's voice after I mentioned the fact that I did a checkup recently, and she got worried that the boys aren't okay; which is why Matt and Gabby really went away, to take them to a specialist somewhere. But that was not the truth, and I needed to make sure that Alex knew that; that way, she wasn't going to worry. The truth is, I'm not just a doctor at the company; I'm also the boys' pediatrician, and I am probably going to be Jay and Alex's kids' pediatrician too. "No, please take a breath and relax Alex; they're fine, I promise." Alex let out a sigh of relief when I said that. "Then what exactly do you mean by check up?" I snickered a bit when Alex asked me that, before deciding to shut my laptop so that I could concentrate on the conversation that I'm having with Alex. "I'm the boys' pediatrician. They just wanted to make sure that they were all good before they decided to go away for a bit after all the stress that's been going on in their life recently, which I think was really horrible."
Alex agreed with me when I mentioned that the stress that they had to go through was horrible, not that she could really argue with me when I know Matt much better than she does. "Yeah, I can only imagine. I know that you've known Matt for years, so I can only imagine the type of stress you saw him under." I took a breath when I heard Alex say that, unsure as to whether I can share more; but I decided that I might as well give her some more insight. "He's still dealing with other stuff too. Mostly the fact that he got the money from his dad, who abused him. It's hard for him, because it's something that really conflicts him if that makes sense. And he has to live with it each and every day, since it's also part of his PTSD. So, for him to have this life that he has thanks to his father is not the easiest of things to wrap his head around if that makes sense." Alex agreed with me as I said that, clearly able to understand. "Hey, I understand completely what you mean. I can only imagine what he's feeling right now."
I agreed with Alex when she told him that, before taking a breath. "Well, he's dealing with it slowly; and that's all we can hope for him. I just want him to be able to talk to us, and that's what's happening now. And I'm glad that Gabby is okay with him talking to everybody, that's not always the case when it comes to wives." Alex laughed when I said that. "I highly doubt that Gabby has anything to worry about, especially when she has those two adorable boys; and because she helps him with her PTSD each and every day. It's why I'm so secure in my marriage, because we have this bond; there's just something there that allows me to be okay with women gawking at Jay. It's because I know that he relies on me a lot for his PTSD, and because we're a team; we've been a team since we were partnered together at the Chicago PD." I agreed with Alex when she said that, before smiling as I could hear how much she truly loves Jay in the way that she's speaking about him. There's just something there that you can't ignore.
I then went to look at the clock, before taking a breath as I thought about a call that I have in the morning. "Listen, as much as I love speaking to you Alex; I have a call in the morning. I'm going to try and steal one of my favorite nurses from Chicago Med." Alex just laughed as I said that. "Do you really think that Maggie would really join you at the clinic?" I shrugged. "If I offer her some good money, maybe. But do you think that I should talk to Matt first?" Alex sighed. "I know that he gave you guys a budget to hire nurses, so I think that you should be able to; but you can always talk to him about what he thinks. Maybe send him an e-mail about what he thinks about you offering jobs to people that you know, because I know that Dr. Choi would definitely be a good guy to have. I mean, I think he has PTSD as a veteran." I agreed with Alex when she said that, before going to take note of the idea that Alex just gave her. "Thanks for the idea Alex." That's when I saw Will come into the room. "Listen, Will just came in."
Alex agreed. "Okay. Tell him goodnight, and don't take credit for my idea!" I snickered, agreeing with her when she said that. "Goodnight Alex, and I promise not to take credit for your idea." Alex agreed with me when I told her that, before hanging up. Hanging up too, I proceeded to set my phone down on my charger while also turning to look at Will as he started to get undressed. "Live or recorded game?" Will smiled as he went to set his shirt down. "Recorded, Chicago Fire at DC United two nights ago. Ended in a 3-3 draw." I agreed with Will when he said that, before watching as he went to take off his pants. "So, what did you and Alex talk about?" I smiled when Will asked me what me and Alex were talking about. "She just called me to give me an update, and she let me know that she was feeling better." Will agreed with me as I said that, before going to set his pants down. After which, he made his way over to bed with his phone so that he could climb in with me. At the same time, he came to join me in bed.
Closing the covers on top of him, Will smiled as he slipped close to me. "And are you working on the clinic?" I laughed when Will asked me that, before turning my head to look at him. "Is it that obvious?" Will agreed with me as I asked him whether it was that obvious. "Yeah, it is." Smiling as he wrapped his arm around me, he went to look at what I was doing. He then went to look at the name. "The CH Clinic? What's that?" I took a breath when Will asked me that. "The Casey-Halstead Clinic for Family and Mental Health."
