Chapter Twenty-Five
Romantic Getaway: Day Two, Part Two
She just finished getting dressed into what she planned on wearing today, which was definitely something that her husband was going to enjoy seeing her in; especially since it was both something sexy, and something that could keep him calm as they talk today. And while she does know that the conversation that they're planning to have may be a hard conversation, that doesn't mean that she plans on just letting her husband get away with not talking to her about it; especially when this conversation is long overdue. This is one of the conversations that they need to have while they're on their romantic getaway, as it was a conversation that should've happened while she was still pregnant with the boys. But now that she's no longer pregnant with the boys, they don't have to worry about the stress that it could've put on her (and therefore, the pregnancy). So, it was going to happen whether her husband liked it or not. She was going to be talking to him about his PTSD, and she wants him to be open with her about it; both for his sake, as well as her own.
But just how does Matt opening up to her about his PTSD help her? Well, that's because it allows her to know just what his PTSD is all about; and how she can do what she needs to do, and that's help him out with dealing with it. Another thing that she can do? She can maybe recognize topics that can trigger his PTSD. Little did she know that there were a lot of them, eight of them to be precise. Yes, Matt has eight situations in the past that have all contributed to him having PTSD; and they will all be talked about today, that's something that Gabby wants to do. She wants to talk about all of them, that way she can understand what she can do to help the man she loves more than anything both thrive and survive with his PTSD. She hates to see him suffer with his PTSD, and she wants to be his partner as he deals with this; which is why she believes that she needs to know everything, she needs to understand his PTSD as much as she can so that she can be the best wife that she can be for Matt. A wife that understands ahead of time and can predict situations.
Situations and scenarios that may lead to his PTSD being triggered, which is definitely something that she wants to avoid. She doesn't want her husband's PTSD to be triggered, because that could really make him feel bad; make him feel bad that he was dealing with it, while Gabby was doing something with the kids. Something that he may want to do with them too and may feel bad that he isn't giving his sons the ability to spend as much time as they would like to spend with their father; the father whom they love more than anything in the entire world, and whom their father loves more than anything in the entire world. And that's the last thing that the husband wants to let his sons feel, like they aren't his main priority in life; and that he wants to be with them as much as he possibly can, which is definitely something that he wants to do each and every day. But that didn't matter, as Matt was still such an amazing father; and that's something that Matt knows. He knows that the boys think that he's a great dad, and that's always the truth.
And if Matt ever has doubts about that, then Gabby is going to tell him time and again that it's the truth; and she will definitely do it today if it comes up, tell him that he's the best father to their boys. But that isn't the priority right now. Rather, the priority is that they are going to just take it easy with each other; especially when they talk about this. This is going to something hard for her husband to talk about, and she's going to be with him every step of the way. That's what a wife does, and it's what she's always going to do. And she's going to do it from bed today, the bed that she was currently sitting down in bed quite comfortably; and from which she was taking a nice sip of her water bottle, which just got filled up by their waiter Hunter while he brought them their breakfast. And just what might they be having for breakfast? Well, that would be Belgian Waffles with Coffee. Coffee that she knows that her husband will enjoy tonight, especially when he didn't sleep the best the night before; which she is definitely going to mention to Hunter. "Hunter?"
Turning to look at Gabby, Hunter smiled. "What can I do for you Gabby?" He said, with an extra question mark after her name; the waiter still being a bit nervous when it comes to using his boss' wife's surname rather than her last name. It was a bit odd, as she was his boss. "Yes, you can call me Gabby. But I just wanted to ask that you please keep a pot of coffee at the ready all day, because we may need it. Matt didn't sleep the best last night, and he'll probably need some." Jacob agreed with Gabby when she told him that, before smiling at her. "Sounds good, and I am so sorry that was the case. Is he not feeling good? Because I can get him some of the medication that we have here on the yacht." Gabby shook her head. "No, it's not related to him not feeling good. Rather, it's related to him having PTSD." Hunter agreed with his boss, smiling at her. "Thank him for his service for me, I know that times are always hard when men and women go overseas…" Gabby then realized that the waiter thought that Matt was a veteran of the US military.
"Oh no, my husband is not a military veteran; rather, he is a former firefighter. But that's not the entire reason for his PTSD, and that's something that we are not going to talk about based on the fact that this is still something that I'm learning myself." The waiter agreed with Gabby as she said that, smiling at her. "Of course, Ms. Casey. I am so glad that Mr. Casey is going to open up to you, and I hope that he feels better." Gabby agreed with the waiter when he said that, smiling at the man. "Please knock before you come into our room later please." The waiter smiled when he said that, until he heard his other boss come into the room. "Oh, good morning Hunter." Turning around to look at the wealthy man who is his employer, Hunter smiled and nodded. "How are you feeling this morning sir? I heard that you had a rough night." Matt then turned to look at his wife, wondering whether she mentioned anything. "I just told him that you have PTSD. That's all he knows Matt." Hunter agreed with Gabby when she said that, before taking a breath. "Sure, if you didn't want me to know; then I promise that I will not share it with the crew, and I will keep it to myself. But I think that it's a good thing to share, that way we can make sure that we help you with dealing with it." Matt smiled when he heard Hunter say that.
"Thank you Hunter, and I will definitely take that into consideration; but the truth is that I am still trying to figure out my PTSD at the same time." Matt said, while also making his way back over to his bed so that he could get in with Gabby. "Sir, may I be frank with you?" Turning to look at his waiter as he walked up to his side of the bed, Matt nodded as that was something that he always wanted from his employees; it meant that he could figure out what he was doing right and wrong, especially when it comes to being a good boss. "Of course." Hunter smiled. "Sir, I think it's a good thing that your wife shared this with me, as it means that I can do whatever I can to make sure that you just take it easy; are you on this trip so that you can take a break from it?" Matt sighed as he asked him that, as that was definitely something else that he was doing, but that wasn't something that he's yet to tell his wife. However, as Gabby heard Matt sigh; she soon realized that was one of the reasons. "Amongst many reasons." Hunter agreed with his bosses.
"Sir, if you need anything…then please just let us know, because we're here to help you as much as we can; and that means both when it comes to feeding and taking care of you, as well as your mental and physical health. Whatever you need, just let us know sir." Matt smiled, agreeing with the waiter when he said that. "Thanks Hunter." Hunter smiled when he said that. "Sir, I can see that you plan on staying in bed for a while; do you know when you may need food?" Turning her head, Gabby looked at her husband. "Probably not until lunch." Hunter agreed. "Then do you mind if me and Alicia just spend some time together? She's the chef, and my girlfriend." Gabby smiled when she heard Hunter say that. "Go ahead and spend some time with Alicia." Hunter smiled when her head Gabby say that. "Thank you Ms. Casey." Matt agreed with Hunter when he said that, before smiling as he walked away; at the same time, he turned to look at his wife as she said that. "I swear, you're going to make my staff love you more than me." Gabby laughed.
"I think they already do." Matt nodded and agreed with Gabby as she told him that, before going to adjust his shirt this morning; after which, he proceeded to climb into bed where he and Gabby are going to enjoy some breakfast together. "So, this breakfast looks good." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, smiling at him. "Listen, what do you say we just wait for the PTSD conversation and start with breakfast and a movie or something? We can relax, and just have fun with each other for a bite; get you calm." Matt smirked when he heard Gabby say that. "Then should I be wearing my shirt right now?" Gabby smirked as Matt asked her if he should be wearing a shirt right now. "We're just taking it easy while we're eating breakfast, and then drinking our coffee. But afterwards, we're going to start talking. I want to do it slowly, and we can take breaks." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, liking that idea. "I love that idea. But that doesn't answer the shirt question." Gabby smiled when Matt asked her that, leaving him hanging.
The breakfast that they just enjoyed with each other was very good, and that was something that Matt shared with his staff while he was bringing the plates back to the kitchen; and that was something that they were shocked that he even did, but it was just who he was. He's not this stereotype rich guy, but a normal guy instead. He knows what it's like to be at the bottom of society, and that's why he likes to do some things on his own sometimes; which is why he brought his and Gabby's plate to the galley so that it was there, and so that they weren't going to be disturbed. And boy was Matt glad that they weren't going to be disturbed, and that was due to the fact that Gabby ended up spilling her coffee on her shirt; which later led her to take it off to reveal the lingerie that she was wearing, which Matt said that he doesn't want to be covered anymore. And Gabby actually agreed to not wearing a shirt on top of her lingerie, on the condition that Matt takes off his shirt after he comes back from the kitchen; which is exactly what he's about to do for her.
Closing the door behind him as he walked into the room, Matt smirked as he looked at his wife while she stood at the end of their bed; with her just wearing her lingerie, Matt couldn't help but smirk due to the fact that his beautiful wife was currently wearing her lingerie at the end of their bed. "Well, if this isn't a nice sight." Gabby smirked as she heard Matt say that, well aware of the fact that he likes the sight of her in her lingerie. "What are you thinking of it?" Matt smirked due to the fact that he loves the sight of his beautiful wife in her lingerie, which he showed her by taking off his shirt for her; after all, that was exactly what his wife wanted. But one thing that his wife didn't want, was him not making his way right over to her. "Hey, where are you going?" Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, before making his way over to his bags so that he can set it down; after all, he does want to make sure that he can find it easily. "I just want to put it over here." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, before smiling at her dreamy husband.
She then watched as he turned around in his boxers, and then walk over to her at the end of their bed. Smiling at his wife, Matt just smirked due to the fact that she looked incredible in the lingerie that she was currently wearing for him; the lingerie that she was going to be wearing for the entire day. After all, that's definitely something that he wants to have. He wants to have her in his arms, wearing his incredible lingerie that she's currently wearing. "Damn, I am not worthy of this." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before putting her hands on his chest. He then leaned in, before proceeding to kiss his beautiful wife softly; taking things nice and slow with the woman he loves, Matt smirked due to the fact that this is exactly what he wants right now. However, Gabby had an ulterior motive for just wearing her lingerie. "Listen to me okay?" Matt nodded when Gabby said that. "I'm wearing this, because I thought that this would help you open up to me." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, well aware that was the case. After all, that may definitely help him open up. "And I think that will definitely happen." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, before smiling as she felt him wrap his arms around her; at the same time, Matt put his hands on her butt while also bending down to kiss her softly.
Running her hands up Matt's arms, Gabby smiled as she took things nice and slow with the mans he loves more than anything in the entire world. "I hope you know that I love you, and I want you to know that I'm here for you; and that I'll aways be here for you." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, smiling due to the fact that this is exactly what he wants right now. Just getting really close to his girl, Matt smiled as he kissed her forehead softly as it made him happy; it made him happy to have her in his arms, and just with him so that they can talk. Looking up at her dreamy husband, Gabby smiled as she felt Matt bend down and kiss her softly. "I love you, and I am so glad that you're going to help me with this." Putting her hand on Matt's cheek, Gabby agreed with him. "Hey, look at me baby." Matt agreed with his wife when she said that, before staring into her eyes. "Matt, I am your wife. And I am always going to be here for you, as it's my job as your wife; and don't say that it's not my job, because it is. I vowed to love you through sickness and in health. Now, I know that this isn't a sickness, and I want you to know that." Matt agreed with his wife, smiling at her.
"I mean the health part. PTSD is something that affects your mental HEALTH, which means that it's something that I vowed to help you through both when we got married; and when we renewed our vows." Matt smiled when he heard Gabby say that, before pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. He then bent down and smirked as he kissed the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world, which is something that he's very happy about; he just loves the fact that Gabby is his wife, and he's so proud of the woman that she's become. And even better, how she's made him the man that he is today; she's made him better, and truly has changed his life for the better. Wrapping his arms around his beautiful wife, Matt smirked as he proceeded to pick her up in his arms and wrapped her legs around his waist. He then smiled when he felt Gabby put her hands on his chest, leaning in to kiss her at the same time. Taking things slow with his wife, Matt smirked as he held his girl in his arms; after which, he went ahead and carried her towards their bed so that they can lay down in bed together. "Lay down next to each other, or with you on my chest?" Gabby smiled.
"I want to be able to look into your eyes okay?" Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, ready to lay her down so that she can look into his eyes as they talk to each other.
