Chapter Thirty-Eight
The couple were now home, and that was exactly where the couple both wanted and needed to be right now; they needed to be home with their son, and just take care of him as he recovers after everything that he's been through, and what they've been through as well. And to say that the father was truly relieved to be home with his wife and son was an understatement, and that was due to the fact that there was just something of being so close to the NICU that really affected him in a negative way; a way that most definitely did affect his PTSD in a negative way, because it brings up part of his PTSD (the time where his sons were in the NICU). But now, he's home again; and that's all that matters, which is something that just makes Matt happy more than anything. But now, that's not something that Matt wants to concentrate on right now; rather, he wants to concentrate on just taking care of their baby boy. And that was exactly what he was going to do, while the rest of their family takes care of Matteo (hopefully). And that's due to the fact that Matt needs to concentrate on his wife and son right now, and would rather just do that than have to worry about Matteo too.
Making his way inside with his wife, Matt smiled as he wrapped his arm around her while also carrying Noah's car seat; kissing the side of his wife's head as he also carried some of their bags, Matt smiled as he went to whisper in her ear. "You glad that we're home with Noah again?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he asked her whether she was happy to be home again, because she most definitely was glad to be home with her son. It was where she wants to be right now, and where she needs to be. Just taking a breath, Gabby rubbed her back and just held Matt close to her. At the same time, Matt kissed her forehead one more time when they walked up to the front door of their home. "I just want you to go upstairs okay? I can take care of the family and talking to them." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before going to grab his hand. "Are we going to just put Noah in his crib?" Turning to face his wife when they were at the front door of their home, Matt took a breath as he thought about what they should do; what they should do with regards to Noah. "Would you be okay with putting him in his crib? If you want to hold him, we can; but I think it'd be better if…."
Getting close to Matt, Gabby put her hand on Matt's chest and then leaned in to kiss him softly; taking things nice and slow with the man she loves, Gabby smirked due to the fact that she was really happy. "Matt, I love that idea. I think it's what I want too, especially since I want to do what I haven't been able to do in the hospital with my husband; and that's cuddle up to him in the way that I really want to cuddle up to him." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before wrapping his arm around her nice and tight. Afterwards, he leaned in and proceeded to kiss the woman he loves softly; which then led him to whisper to his gorgeous wife. "Boxers and lingerie?" Gabby smirked as she heard Matt say that, as that was most definitely what she wanted to do. She wants to spend time with her husband as he wears his boxers, and she can wear some lingerie for him. "No sex." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, before smiling as he looked at his wife; after which, he kissed her forehead softly. "You want to take Noah out of his car seat? Then you can just carry him upstairs? Or are you going to want to see Matteo first?" Gabby sighed as Matt asked her that. "I'd rather just go up."
Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, completely understanding why that would be the case. "Hey, I get that Gabby; and I am more than okay with defending your decision. Gabby, I know that you're really worried about Noah right know; and I know that you just want to relax in bed with him, and me." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, before smiling as she went ahead and grabbed his hand. She then looked up at the man she loves, before proceeding to wrap her arm around his back. Kissing her forehead, Matt smiled due to the fact that they were both really happy right now. The way that they are holding each other close is even better. "Here, do you want to just take Noah's car seat and take him upstairs? Or would you rather take him out of his car seat?" Gabby smiled. "I'm going to take him out." Matt agreed with his wife, before smiling as he proceeded to set his car seat down on the front step of their home. "Here, let's take him out before we go inside; then you can say a quick high, afterwards I can talk to our family." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before smiling as she bent down to grab Noah. Cuddling up to him, she just smiled at him.
After which, she looked at the man she loves more than anything another time. Wrapping his arm around her after she stood up, Matt smiled as he bent down and proceeded to kiss her softly; just taking things slow with the woman he loves, Matt smirked due to the fact that this is everything he wants. He wants to be home with his family, and he wants to just hold his wife close to him. "Listen, go upstairs with Noah okay? And just go take it easy. Well, after we say hi to our family." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before watching as he proceeded to open the door for her. After which, Gabby walked in ahead of the man she loves so that she could walk in. After which, she saw her family there in the living room; and let's just say that it most definitely was something that she loved the sound of. "Eva, turn it back to the Church Channel. We are watching Church, and that's final." Matt just shook his head when he heard Antonio say that, well aware that was going to be something he has to get used to. "Well, seems like things haven't changed much." Turning their heads when they heard Matt's voice, everybody was happy that they were finally home; and back with Noah.
"Hey, when did you guys get home with Noah?" Gabby smiled as she walked in to get close to her brother. "We just got home." Antonio agreed with his baby sister when she said that, before proceeding to walk over to her; at the same time, Matt picked up their bags again and put them over his shoulders. That's when he saw his mom there, and just smiled. "God, I have been so worried." Matt agreed with his mother when she said that, before smiling as she made her way over to them. Just looking at his mother, Matt smiled as he got ready to hug her; after all, it's still so nice to see him here. Going to wrap his arm around her when she hugged him, Matt smiled as he proceeded to kiss her forehead softly. "I'm glad to be home too." Nancy agreed with her son when he said that, before smiling as she looked up at him. "I can only imagine that's the case." Matt smiled when he heard his mom say that.
That's when Antonio walked up to him. "Listen, do you need any help?" Matt looked at the bags. "Uhm, can you maybe grab the bags and bring them upstairs with Gabby?" Matt then turned to look at his wife, smiling at the woman of his dreams. "I know we said that we already spoke to people but…" Gabby just agreed with Matt when he said that, well aware of what he plans on doing. "I understand baby." Matt then smiled. "Oh Antonio, can you make sure to take out my medicine kit? I went to the pharmacy while I was at the hospital and I need to take something out." Getting a bit worried, Gabby looked at her husband. "Pharmacy? Are you okay? Wait, does Noah need antibiotics or…" Seeing that his wife was worried, Matt made his way over to her so that he can calm her down. "Hey, hey. Take a breath and relax baby." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that. After which, she watched as Matt wrapped his arms around her; which then led him to kiss her forehead softly, whispering to her at the same time. "They aren't for Noah." Gabby then looked up at her husband, before realizing who they were for. "Oh." Matt agreed with his wife when she said that, smiling.
"I was due." Getting a bit concerned, Nancy Casey looked at her son; after all, she didn't understand what he was due for. "Due for what? Is everything okay Matt?" Matt just took a breath, before looking at his wife; and that's when he decided to look at his brother-in-law, just wanting his wife to be upstairs so that they aren't stressed. "Do you need anything babe? Food, anything?" Gabby smiled. "Egg sandwiches?" Matt agreed with his wife when she said that, before smiling. "Of course. Antonio?" Antonio got the hint, and just smiled at his baby sister. "Let's get you upstairs sis so that you can relax." Gabby agreed with Antonio when he said that, before proceeding to walk away so that she can go relax in bed with Noah. After all, that's where she needs to be; at the same time, Matt let out a sigh of relief and waited for Gabby to be out of earshot so that he can talk to his mother (as well as his mother-in-law. Heck, maybe he can even get some cuddle time with Matteo for a minute before he goes to make him and Gabby some breakfast.
Making his way into the living room of his and Gabby's home shortly after watching Gabby walk away with her brother, Matt smiled as he wanted to hold his baby boy in his arms; and that was something that he was going to do for a minute. He just wants to hold Matteo and tell him that he loves him. Picking him up as he went ahead and moved to sit on the couch with him, Matt smiled as he set him down and just cuddled up to him; after which, he put his hand on his stomach and smiled at his baby boy. Kissing his forehead, Matt smiled as he was really happy to be holding him in his arms. "Hey buddy, you miss daddy?" Matt said, while also watching Matteo cuddle up to him a bit. After which, he went ahead and left another kiss on his forehead as a way to make sure that he was being held close by his father. That's when Matt heard his mother speak to him. "Matt, what were you due for? Was it your scan for smoke inhalation. Is it okay?" Looking up at his mother, the CEO could clearly see just how worried she was at the moment.
And he couldn't blame her for being worried about the fact that he may have problems with his lungs (again), as he has had some problems in the past; and that truly was the last thing that he needed, as he already has enough to worry about. Not only is he worrying about his son (Noah), but he's also worrying about his own mental health; as his diagnosis of PTSD has just been confirmed by another specialist,, whom he is now going to be treated by here in Hawaii. "Oh no, everything is okay. I promise that I'm fine mom. It's nothing, and I want you to take it easy. I promise, it's not at all related to smoke inhalation; what I meant was that I needed to get a refill of my prescription." Nancy was a bit confused when she heard Matt say that, until Camila decided to clue him in; after all, she's been on this PTSD journey with Matt from the start. "He has a prescription for Anxiety to help with his PTSD." Nancy then realized that, understanding what he meant. "Oh, that's what you mean." Matt agreed with his mom when he said that, before smiling at Matteo.
After which, Camila spoke to him. "Matt, if you want; I can make you and Gabby some breakfast, then you can spend some time with you mom." Looking up at his mother-in-law, Matt smiled at Camila as that really was something that he would definitely enjoy. "I'd love that Camila; thank you." Camila nodded as she heard Matt tell her that, as she was well aware of the fact that he was probably very grateful for her; heck, he's always grateful whenever she does something for her. "By the way, I saw that Ramon's rental car isn't here. Is he not here?" Camila shook her head. "He went to a local dealership to get a car. He wants to get one." Matt agreed with her when she said that. "I told him not to ask by the way." Matt laughed. "Thanks Camila, and I promise to at least help him a bit; I'm not going to force him to pay everything. Same goes for the both of you." Camila smiled. "I wouldn't mind a Tesla so that I can use your chargers." Matt laughed as he heard Camila say that. "Let me talk to Gabby?" Camila agreed with Matt, smiling at him.
"I'll go make you and Gabby some breakfast okay?" Matt agreed with his mother-in-law as she said that, before bending down and kissing the top of Matteo's head. "Hey buddy. Did you have a good sleep last night? And have fun with your grandma, your abuela, and your Tio? Yeah, I bet you did." Nancy then smiled as she went ahead and spoke to her son. "Christie came over last night too, and we had some supper together." Matt looked up at his mother when she said that, a bit shocked. "How'd that go? Any drama I need to know about?" Nancy shook her head when Matt asked her whether there was drama involved in the supper. "No, it was actually really nice." Matt agreed with his mother when she said that, smiling as he was glad that his sister as well as his mother were getting along really well. "I'm glad that you guys are getting along really well." Nancy agreed with her son when he said that, smiling as she felt the same way. "Me and Violet have been having fun too, but she's actually out with her mother today." Matt was confused. "Where?"
Nancy snickered. "Violet asked her mom to go get a nice new dress for father's day next week, she's going to Chicago on Friday. Her mom is going to, and she's going to her old company so that she can try and recruit her best friend she said." That's when the mother heard her daughter walk into her son's home. "Mom, did you really have to say that to him? I wanted to be the one to talk to him about it, especially when he's the one that has to approve me offering my friend a job." Turning his head, Matt was confused. "Which one?" Christie laughed. "My sorority sister Melissa James. We need a Senior Marketing Director, and she just quit her marketing firm because of sexual harassment. I was going to try and get her." Matt smiled at his sister, agreeing. "I love that idea. By the way, I might set you up with my realtor there at the same time; that way, you can go do something for me." Christie was confused when she heard her brother say that, before walking over to her mom. "Hi mom." Nancy smiled as she got up, going to hug her daughter.
"How are you sweetie?" Christie smiled. "Just loving my life here in Hawaii. Just finished at the Spa, and I've been meaning to talk to my brother about the proposal he sent me while he was on his yacht trip." Matt gulped when he heard Christie say that, well aware of what she was talking about. "You mean the proposal for you investing?" Nancy then went ahead and looked at her son. "Want me to take this baby boy here and go get him some toys before you and Gabby head up to bed?" Matt thought about it, before agreeing with his mother. "Thanks mom." Getting up, Nancy smiled as she made her way over to her son while also looking at Matteo. "C'mon Matteo, let's go get some toys with Grandma." Nancy then wrapped her arms around him, smiling as she went to take him to the primary suite so that he can get some toys to play with. At the same time, Matt took a breath since we was going to talk to Christie.
Turning to look at his sister after his mother carried Matteo away, Matt just took a breath and looked at her. "Yeah, I didn't know what you were going to think about that document that I sent you." Christie agreed with her brother when he said that, before smiling. "I could tell that was the case, because I could see that it wasn't your normal quality; it seemed to be thrown together, barely completed." Matt then thought about it. "Shit, did I send it to you after we learned about Noah?" Christie nodded. "I think you did." Matt just shook his head. "Sorry about that sis." Christie shook her head. "No, it's okay. I mean that. How are you and Gabby, and Noah anyways?" Matt smiled. "Noah is just tired, and just needs to rest. Gabby is worried, and we're going to rest in bed with him." Christie agreed with her brother when he said that. "You aren't in a place to talk business, are you?" Matt shook his head. "Not really."
Christie agreed with her brother when he said that, well aware that was going to be the case. "Hey, I completely understand Matt. You have a lot on your mind right now, and you have every right to not worry about the work you have to do right now." Matt agreed with Christie as she said that, before putting his feet up on the coffee table. "I might try and work tomorrow though, if Noah's better." Christie agreed. "What about Gabby?" Matt shook his head. "She's going to take some time, and I'm glad that's the case. However, I'm going to be working from my home office; so meetings are going to be virtual if you want to work from home." Christie laughed. "Oh, I am more than interested in doing that." Matt agreed with his sister when she said that. "Listen, when it comes to your friend; I think that would be fine, especially since we need to keep adding people. Bring a contract along, and I promise to trust you. Just ask her to send me a resume and proof that she's got that certificate. Sorry if I need that." Christie agreed. "Hey, I understand Matt."
Matt then took a breath and just smiled at his sister. "Have I ever thanked you for being civil with mom?" Christie laughed as she heard her brother tell her that. "Me and mom have actually stared to get close again, and I like it." Matt agreed with his sister when she said that, glad that was the case. "Good, and I hope that you know that you can always talk to me sis." Christie agreed with her brother. "I hope you feel the same way, because you don't just have to lean on your in-laws; I know that we weren't close in the past, but this experience has changed everything." Matt agreed with his sister when she said that, well aware that was the case. "I know exactly what you mean." Christie agreed with her brother when he told her that, clearly able to see that the father was quite worried right now. "Just promise me that you take care of yourself and try and relax?" Matt agreed with his sister as she said that. "I'll try my best." Christie then smiled when she heard Violet come downstairs. "Mom?" Christie just smiled. "Hi sweetie, how've you been?"
Violet smiled. "Good, I love it here. Just hate that I have to go." Christie smiled. "Sweetie, you have home school at our condo. And your uncle needs time to rest with his sons. They need to relax." Matt just smiled. "You can stay and take care of Matteo if you want. I'm just waiting for breakfast, then me and Gabby are going to relax while Noah sleeps in his crib; heaven knows that we need it." Christie agreed with her brother when he said that, as she was well aware of that fact. "I'm just glad that you guys are home." Matt agreed with his sister when she said that, before smiling as that was definitely something that he felt too. "I have been waiting for this day, because it's what we need. We need to be home with our boys." Violet agreed with her uncle. "I'm happy that Noah is feeling better." Matt smiled when her heard Violet tell him that, as he feels the same way. "Me too Violet, me too."
