Chapter Fifty-Three
A Secured Washroom Break-turned-Impromptu Press Conference
Home of Jay & Alex Halstead – Primary Suite
He was currently in the midst of speaking to security, the security that he was going to need to ask for help so that he can take Max out to the washroom; yes, Jay believes that he has to call security so that he can take Max out. He just hopes that the security team doesn't think that they're crazy. Taking a breath as he went to call one of the security guards that were in the lobby, Jay went ahead and waited for one of them to answer; and that's when they finally did. More specifically, the head of security Mike Davidson answered the call that he was making to him. "Good afternoon Mr. Halstead, I apologize for the wait that came with you having to answer." Jay agreed with the security guard when he said that, well aware that he has to do other things. "How bad is it downstairs?" Hearing the worry in the veteran's voice, the security guard thought twice about what he should answer. But that was not the only thing that he had to worry about, as he also had to worry bout the fact that the man on the other end of the phone was an executive.
An executive who was a friend to the Chairman and CEO of the company that he works for, and allows him to provide for his family; and that was why the decision to tell the executive the truth, the truth of situation that was going on right now. "Sir, there are a few photographers across the street; and there are some that are trying to sneak in, with the hopes of getting some comments from employees." Taking a breath when he heard the security guard say that, Jay just shook his head as that was something that worried him. "Well, I need to take Max out to the washroom." Mr. Davidson agreed with the executive when he said that, before telling him exactly what he needs to hear right now. "Mr. Halstead, I will send you a security guard to be with you the entire time. Can I give him the secure key to meet you at the condo?" Jay agreed with the security team when he said that. "Of course, I will see you soon." Mr. Davidson agreed with Jay once again, before hanging up so that he could take care of getting a security guard up to his home.
Setting his phone down in his pocket, Jay took a breath as he looked at his sleeping wife as she relaxed in their bed; and boy does he like the fact that she was currently fast asleep in their bed, or at least she was until now. Rolling over in bed, Alex looked at her husband after hearing Jay's voice; and more specifically, the worry that was in his voice. Looking at him, Alex took a breath. "Jay, you okay? I heard you call security. Wait, is something wrong? God, are they really starting to hound us now?" Seeing that Alex was starting to get worried, Jay went ahead and walked around the bed while still just wearing some jeans (the future father having yet to put a shirt on, which he was originally going to do after he finished on the phone); and that was due to the fact that he and Alex were just resting in bed right now, and they therefore didn't feel like they needed to be dressed. Walking up to Alex's side of the bed, Jay smiled as he proceeded to sit on the edge of the bed and put his hand on Alex's stomach; after all, Alex does need to relax.
"Hey, it's all okay. There's nothing wrong. Everything's okay." Putting her hand on Jay's hand, Alex got a bit concerned regardless of what Jay just told her. After which, she decided to sit up and looked into Jay's eyes; and that prompted Jay to get even closer to her, with the goal of giving her some more comfort. Comfort that she needed so that she can relax and not put their children at risk. Stroking her stomach with his thumb, Jay looked into Alex's eyes before leaning in to kiss her softly; and let's just say that Alex loved it whenever Jay kissed her, because he is the man of her dreams. "I love you." Jay agreed with Alex when she told him that, smiling at his beautiful wife. "I love you too, and I am so glad that you're taking this so good; but I called security because Max needs to go out, and I wanted to see how things are downstairs." Alex agreed with Jay when he said that, well aware of what he was talking about; while he tried to keep the fact that there were photographers outside a secret from her, she knew based on the media reports.
The media reports that she was reading (even though they all knew that it may not be the healthiest thing for her to do), which she was doing to see what they were saying; and whether they were going to start looking into her past, which is something that she's worried about. "You worried?" Jay took a breath, before nodding as he looked at his beautiful wife. "Yes, I am. I don't want this to affect you or our twins." Alex agreed with her loving husband when he told her that, well aware that was the case. "Hey, of course I know that Jay; and I promise that you're doing an amazing job when it comes to you protecting us." Jay agreed with his beautiful wife when she said that, before smiling as he leaned in and proceeded to kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world; after all, she is his wife and the future mother of their twins. "Here, help me up so that we can go downstairs." Jay was shocked when he heard Alex say that, not having expected her to want to join him downstairs. "You sure?" Alex agreed with her husband, smiling.
"Yeah, I want to go with you so that we can make sure that we're okay. I want to be with you and just help you relax. After all, that's what you need from me right now; you need me to help you relax." Jay agreed with Alex when she said that, before smiling as he leaned in and then proceeded to kiss her softly once again. Taking things nice and slow with the woman he loves, Jay smirked due to the fact that he loves her so much. "I love you." Alex agreed with Jay when he said that. "Listen, I need to get dressed; that way, I can go with you." Jay agreed with Alex when she said that, before proceeding to get up so that she can put some clothes on. Walking past her husband as she wore one of his shirts, as well as some of her small underwear, Alex jumped as she felt Jay grab her ass and squeeze it. After which, Jay smirked due to the fact that he knew that it turned her on. "JAY!" Jay just smirked when he heard that. "Hey, I had full access to it; and I was not going to loose my chance to do it." Alex shook her head as she heard Jay say that.
"Yes, yes you did. Now, how about you put a shirt on so that we can go downstairs?" Jay smirked when he heard Alex say that, before watching as she went to put one of his dress shirts on; after which, Jay walked over to his gorgeous wife in his jeans. Wrapping his arms around Alex once he was standing in front of her, Jay smiled as he looked down at his beautiful wife; after which, he bent down and proceeded to kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. Moving his hand to Alex's neck, Jay smiled as he bent down and proceeded to kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world; who just so happens to also be the future mother of his twins. Putting his hands on Alex's stomach, Jay smiled. "How are you feeling today?" Alex smiled when Jay asked her how she was feeling. "I'm feeling great, thanks for asking." Jay agreed with his wife when she said that before smiling as he felt her run her hand down his chest, which also led him to play with her belt. "Are you sure that you want to go outside with Max?"
Jay laughed when he heard Alex say that, before walking over to her dresser so that he could grab her some short shorts; throwing her shorts over to her, Jay smirked as he wanted to see Alex in them. "How about you put these on? Then, I'll put my shirt on so that we can go downstairs." Alex agreed with her husband when he said that, before proceeding to get dressed for her husband; after which, Jay proceeded to grab his shirt from his closet. Putting it on over his head, Jay smiled as he turned around to look at his beautiful wife (whom he loves more than anything in the entire world). "Does this look okay?" Looking up at her husband as she put her shorts on, Alex smiled as she did them up; after which, she made her way over to Jay and then put her hands on his toned chest. After which, Jay wrapped his arms around her as he went ahead and kissed her softly; taking things nice and slow with the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world, Jay smirked due to the fact that this is everything that he's ever wanted right now.
But one thing that he didn't want, was to be disturbed by his brother. Walking into his brother's (temporary) room, Will looked at his brother. "Jay, the…" Seeing that his brother and sister-in-law were about to share a kiss, Will felt bad. "My bad." Jay agreed with Will when he said that. "What is it?" Will sighed. "The security you called is here." Jay then realized that. "Oh, thanks." Jay then proceeded to make his way over to Max's leach. "Come here boy." Max then made his way over to Jay, who then put his leach on his collar. Bending down, he rubbed his head and smiled. "I'm going to take him out with security." Will agreed with his brother when he said that, realizing that was why security was here. "Okay, stay safe brother." Jay agreed with his brother when he said that, before smiling as he turned to look at Alex. "Do you want to take a walk at the same time?" Alex bit her lip when Jay asked her that. "Let's see what the security guard says okay?" Jay agreed with Alex when she said that, well aware that she was a bit worried right now.
After which, he put his hand out for Alex to grab; doing just that, Alex smiled as she intertwined their fingers in order to follow Jay out of their room ahead of them taking Max out to the washroom.
Making their way out to the main entrance to their home, Jay smiled when he saw a security guard there. Seeing Jay come out with Alex, as well as their dog Max, Stephen Mars smiled as he knew that this was the man whom he was assigned to protect while he takes his dog out to go to the washroom. "Mr. Halstead." Jay smiled as he walked up to him. "My name is Stephen Mars, and I am the guard who has been assigned to protect you as you go outside." Alex smiled when she heard Stephen say that, glad that was the case. "I promise you both that you guys are going to be safe as long as you are with me, and I will be there with you the entire time." Jay agreed with the security guard when he said that. "Just to let you know, I will be carrying my gun with me the entire time." Stephen then proceeded to look at the gun. "Do you have a…" Jay smiled. "Former police officer, and veteran." Stephen then realized that. "Right, I remember that now." Jay agreed with Stephen when he said that, before turning to look at his brother.
"Will, I'll be fine. Go spend some time with Natalie." Will agreed with his brother when he said that, before going to make his way back to his room; after which, Jay looked at Stephen while they also made their way into the elevator together. Opening the door first, Stephen smiled as he went to let Jay and Alex in with Max. At the same time, Jay and Alex (along with Max) walked into the elevator so that they can go downstairs. Wrapping his arm around Alex, Jay smiled as he kissed the side of her head to make sure that she just breathed and took it easy; as that was exactly what she needed to do right now. She needs to breathe, and she needs to relax so that they can make their way outside. And that's definitely something that he was glad that they were doing, as they are more than happy to be spending time with each other outside of the condo; I mean, you can't always stay inside. It's just too much, and they need to be outside at times. And that was exactly what they were going to do, as they took a walk with Max to make him go to the washroom.
Shortly after walking outside with security, Jay sighed when he saw that there were still reporters there; and the obviously recognized him, especially since they saw Max. "Mr. Halstead, can we get comment on the story?" Another reporter then yelled. "Mr. Halstead, do you trust your boss? Or do you think that he has been hiding the truth from you? Do you really know your boss?" Another reporter then added on. "Mr. Casey has been promoting that he has PTSD, based on the fact that he hid his past; do you believe that he has PTSD, or do you believe he's just using it as a way to get sympathy now that this has come out?" That's when a reporter yelled something that pushed the line. "Mr. Halstead, how can you allow him to use you to promote PTSD programs when he has done nothing but lie to you? Are you even sure that he has PTSD?" Jay was just shocked when he heard the reporter say that, because he knows that Matt has PTSD; and it's clear to him that he needs to fix this for him. Turning to look at Alex, Jay sighed.
He then got close to her and went to whisper to her. "Call Matt, tell him that you need to talk to him; that we both need to talk to him. Go upstairs and stay safe with him. We can't stay here; we need to go stay somewhere they can't find us." Alex agreed with Jay when he said that. "Take Max with you." Alex agreed with Jay when he said that, grabbing Max's leach so that she can go upstairs with Matt; after which, Jay turned to look at the media and got close to them so that he can defend his boss (and friend) to the media.
Jay's POV:
As I walked up to the media, I took a breath due to the fact that I knew that Matt may not be happy that I did this; but I just couldn't let this stand. I needed to let the people know that PTSD is not something to be joked about. I know that Matt has PTSD, and that's the truth. Taking a breath, I went ahead and proceeded to look at the media and spoke to them. "Okay, listen up. I want to make something clear to you all. I never want to hear you guys question my boss' diagnosis with PTSD." The entire media then looked at me. "I am a veteran, and I have been through the emotions that came with a new diagnosis with PTSD; and I can tell you right now, my boss has PTSD. I have seen the tears that came out of his face, and I have heard the way he speaks about all of the traumatic times in his event. And for you to question that, it's inexcusable; and I am offended that you even asked me that, especially because you guys were the one that reported on one of the reasons that he has PTSD. You are the ones who put that out for the world to see."
I took a breath, before continuing. "You were the ones that posted about the fact that his father abused him, and now you date to question whether Mr. Casey has PTSD? I'm sorry, but that's not something that you get to do; nor do you guys get to do it on his property. Me and Mr. Casey are both former front-line workers. Mr. Casey was a firefighter, and I was an intelligence officer in Chicago. What happened to the respect that use to come with being a former first responder? What happened to the recognition of the science behind the fact that people who are first responders, and who are also military veterans are more prone to PTSD?" Taking a breath, I looked at them. "Put aside the abuse, the abuse that almost got his children taken away from him; because that led to them questioning whether he abused his sons! For that, you should be ashamed. You almost cost my friend to loose his sons, and that's not okay. Nor is it okay that you guys get to do this to him on his front door. Mr. Casey has PTSD, and I can vouch for that right now!"
I then looked at everybody. "And if you guys ever question that again, I am not going to be happy, especially when Mr. Casey already pleaded with you for privacy; privacy both for himself, but also for his family. And this is not what you're giving him. Now, please get out of here." Security then came out. "Mr. Halstead, I will take care of this." I agreed, turning to look at the security man. "Thank you." I then proceeded to make my way inside, knowing that I need to go talk to Matt right now. At the same time, the security team took care of what they needed to do; and that was get the press away from the building.
