"Today the downtown area was rocked by another outbreak of violence." A female TV announcer proclaimed, as the news then went on to show live footage of some kind of beast. He was tall and muscular, with eyes that were devoid of pupils. The sharp teeth and claws only made him look more like an animal. For clothing, he strangely wore a beige suit with brown undertones. The thing that made him stick out the most, though, was his fur collar. It was so long that it looked like he possessed a blond mane.
The man, if that's what you want to call it, was shown throwing around a bunch of other men who were scary enough on their own, but compared to the absolute monster the larger man was, it made the others look insignificant.
The behemoth then approached the police car that was heading towards him. In an incredible act of strength, the car was thrown right into the air.
"The fact that the perpetrator is believed to be a mutant has fueled current anti-mutant hysteria, which is now growing nationwide." The television was then turned off by the couple watching it.
"She's one of them, Martha." The husband insisted. "She needs help."
"But how could you register her with that Mutant Control Agency," Martha protested, "as if she were some sort of criminal?"
"The agency isn't a prison, Martha." Her husband argued. "It's an outreach program to help these unfortunate people. It's for her own good. You know I love her."
Martha was still unsure. "But what will happen to her now?" She asked.
"I don't know. Let's just hope the neighbors don't find out." As the couple talked, they didn't notice their foster daughter was standing on top of the stairs, eavesdropping.
Jubilation Lee, or just Jubilee for short, ran back up to the hall. "Why is this happening to me?" She asked herself, "I used to be a normal kid." She sat down on the floor in silence, trying to hold back the tears.
Once upon a time, life made sense. The only thing she had to worry about was getting good grades in school, but fate seemed to have it out for her. Now her parents were registering her with that Mutant Control Agency like she was some animal. All because she had this freakish ability to make things explode. Jubilee started sobbing.
If only her life could go back to normal.
The doorbell rang.
Martha went to the door. "That's strange; I wonder who it could be."
She opened the door and was greeted by the face of her foster son.
"Danny!" She cried in joyful surprise.
"You're back." Steve smiled at the man he saw as a son.
Standing on the doorstep was Daniel Fenton, in his twenties, with the same raven black hair and baby blue eyes. No longer was he that skinny boy from Casper High. The young man had bulked up a bit, giving him a more surfer body type. Although he was healthy, there was a sort of dangerous edge to him. One had to be very good at reading people in order to see this, but those who could would see that this guy had seen some trauma. Whatever it was, it was still going away slowly.
"Hey, Martha, Steve. How are you guys doing?"
"Oh, it's so good to have you home, honey." Martha stated. "We missed you." Their foster son had left a couple weeks ago, and when asked why, he wouldn't elaborate, saying that it was personal.
Danny embraced the two in a hug. "I've missed you too." Warmth filled his heart at being reunited with his foster parents. These were the people who took him in after he lost everything to that monster. He'd sworn that he would let nothing happen to his new family. Nothing.
"How was your trip?" Steve asked.
Danny grinned. "Pretty great. I got to catch up with an old friend back in Wisconsin." He walked into the living room. "So how's Jubilee?"
Steve and Martha had worried looks on their faces.
"Well," Martha said hesitantly, "Jubilee's a mutant."
Danny raised an eyebrow. "Really?" He was surprised. He had heard of mutants. Who hadn't, with the news constantly trying to portray them as monsters? When Danny first heard about them, he was curious. He always felt that he was alone, being the only one with powers, with the exception of Vlad, of course. So it felt odd to finally see that he wasn't the only one who was different. He also didn't think Jubilee would end up getting powers, but he heard that anyone could become a mutant.
Steve nodded. "Yeah, look at what she did to the VCR just by touching it." He pointed at the now-destroyed VCR, which was burned to a crisp.
"So she can make things explode?" Danny pondered out loud. "How is Jubilee taking it?"
His heart went out to Jubilee. She was brought in after him and immediately bonded with him. Jubilee saw him as someone to look up to, with Danny viewing her as the little sister he never had. Now she had to go through the same struggles he did when he first got his powers. He flashed back to the days of trying to make sure he didn't drop anything or end up sinking into the floor.
Never had he told them about his powers for several reasons. One was that he was afraid of their reactions. They might freak out and cast him out of their home. Acceptance was something he struggled with. Back at home, his parents hated his ghost half, and Danny was always scared that when they found out that Danny Fenton and Danny Phantom were the same, they would capture him and cut him open. To this day, Danny wonders if they would've accepted him if they had known before they died.
His second reason was that Danny Phantom was finished. The ghostly superhero died after he failed to save the ones who were most important to him. If he couldn't protect the people he cared for the most, then what kind of hero was he? Not only that, but over time, his concern for protecting the town started to fade away. His heart and spirit were no longer into it. Eventually, it was decided to put Danny Phantom to rest, leaving Danny Fenton to pick up the pieces of his broken life.
Now it seemed that history had repeated itself. Now his sister was the one with powers and was fearful of her family's reaction.
"How has she been taking it?" He inquired. Danny was pretty sure that Jubilee was acting hysterical and full of dread. It's what happened to him.
Steve shook his head. "Not well. She's locked herself in her room all day."
Danny nodded grimly. He saw that coming. "And how have you taken it?"
"We've been concerned about her," Martha responded, "and we don't want her to end up hurting herself or anyone else."
"I also contacted some people who could help her." Steve said.
The former superhero narrowed his eyes. "Who?"
Steve squirmed a bit at the dangerous tone of his foster son's voice. "The Mutant Control Agency."
"What!" Danny snapped. "How could you do that?" Danny was disappointed in Steve; he thought that the man would be a bit more sensitive to his daughter's plight.
His foster father looked down in shame. "I just wanted to help her."
Danny's eyes softened. "You can help her by supporting her. By showing Jubilee that you still love her. After all, she's still the kid you took in. So what if she makes things explode? You'd get the same result from any other kid who has fireworks."
After saying his piece, Danny headed towards the stairs. "I'm going to go talk to her."
Jubilee was lying on her bed in a depressive state when a knock was heard at the door. She sighed. She couldn't hide from this confrontation. Time to face the music.
She sat up on her bed. "It's open."
Instead of her parents walking in like she expected, it was Danny.
"Jubilee, what's up?"
"Danny!" Jubilee cried in excitement. "You're back." She hugged him as Danny chuckled in amusement.
"Yeah, I'm back, so how are you doing?" Danny asked. "I've heard about your powers."
Jubilee's happy mode instantly switched off as she gave him an apprehensive look.
"So you know that I'm a freak?" Jubilee said sadly.
"Jubilee, you're not a freak," Danny said, "you're special."
"Steve and Martha think differently." Jubilee replied bitterly. "I bet they're regretting ever taking me in."
"They love you," Danny reassured her, "they're just worried about you possibly hurting yourself."
"Then why did Steve call the Mutant Control Agency?" Jubilee challenged.
"Ok, I'll admit that was a stupid decision, but he still cares about you." Danny replied. "Just because someone loves you doesn't mean they don't make dumb decisions once in a while."
Jubilee still didn't look convinced. "I just wish these powers would just go away."
Danny gave her a sympathetic look. "I know how you feel."
"How could you possibly know what it's like to make things explode?" Jubilee questioned him indignantly.
Danny smirked. "Trust me, I do. More than you know."
Jubilee sent him a questioning look, but Danny ignored it.
"You're unique, Jubilee, and an old friend of mine once told me that unique is good." He then looked at the clock, and an idea formed in his head.
"How about we go to the mall?" He offered.
"Why not?" Jubilee replied. "I've got nothing else to do."
"Alright!" Danny exclaimed. "Lets go."
They headed down the stairs past Steve and Martha.
"We're going to the mall; we'll be back soon." Danny said as he and Jubilee went out the door. They got on Danny's motorcycle and speeded away.
In the sky, flying above the neighborhood, was an unbelievable sight. It was at least three stories tall, covered in red and purple metal, with a face that betrayed its cold and mechanical origins. It had a humanoid shape as it landed on its feet.
It marched on uncaringly with no one around to see it but a dog that started barking.
The giant turned to the dog and reached out its hand to grab it. The dog, however, managed to slip away, but the steel goliath paid it no mind. Focusing on its mission, it made its way to Jubilee's house.
Looking through the second-story window, the iron monstrosity forced its hand through, grabbing on to the bed, which it believed had the mutant it was assigned to capture.
The machine pulled it out and opened its palm, only to realize no one was there.
"Identification error. Non-living objects." It said in a cold, robotic voice. "Begin tracking program." Turning around, it walked away in search of its target.
Just in time to avoid being spotted by Martha as she opened the door, only to scream in fright at the destroyed room.
"Come on, I'll teach you to invade my universe." Jubilee boasted as she was playing some space game in the mall's arcade. Danny was on the machine next to her, playing some Pac-Man.
Jubilee was about to beat the high score when her powers went off, destroying the arcade game.
"No! Not again!" She cried in frustration.
"Look, don't worry." Danny comforted her. "We'll work on finding a way to control your powers."
"Hey you! Do you know how much that game cost?" The manager yelled.
"Yeah, a quarter." Jubilee snarked.
Danny tried to placate the man. "Don't worry, I can cover it."
The manager ignored him and pointed at Jubilee. "Hey! You're one of them, ain't you?"
Jubilee, knowing that things would only get worse, booked it out of the arcade.
"We don't want you lousy mutants around here!" The man screamed.
"Jubilee wait!" Danny called out in worry. Glaring at the manager, he grabbed him by the shirt and decked him in the face.
"Asshole." He muttered as he chased his foster sister.
Meanwhile, the mechanical menace approached the mall while onlookers panicked at the sight of it.
"Mommy, buy me that! Buy me that!" A boy begged his mother.
"Can't you do something?" A woman asked a policeman.
"What do you want me to do, arrest him?" He asked sarcastically.
"Closing on assigned target." The mechanism said as it smashed its way into the mall.
"Stupid jerk arcade manager!" Jubilee cursed when she crashed into two women.
Getting up, she scowled at them. "Hey! Watch where you're going!" She then ran off.
"Us?" One of the women said in disbelief. "What bug crawled up her shorts?"
Danny then ran up to the women as he helped them pick up their stuff.
"I'm sorry about my sister." Danny apologized, hoping to make amends. "She's been going through a lot recently."
"It's alright." One of the women said in a southern accent. She was a Caucasian woman in a beautiful pink outfit. What made her stand out was her auburn hair with a streak of white in the middle.
"Children will be children." The other woman said calmly. She was a dark-skinned lady with a regal demeanor. Her distinguishing trait was her white hair.
Danny reached to pick up a box when he accidentally touched the southern woman's hand.
"No!" She cried out as she pulled her hand back, as if she had touched a hot stove.
"I'm sorry." Danny said, wondering what spooked this woman so badly.
Suddenly, he heard Jubilee scream.
"Jubilee!" Danny followed the sound of her voice. The two women watched as he ran past them.
"Are you okay, Rogue?" The white-haired woman asked.
"He touched me, Storm." Rogue said faintly. "He touched me, and my powers didn't hurt him."
Storm's eyes widened in surprise. "Maybe he's a mutant?"
"Could be," Rogue agreed, "let's go talk with him."
They then followed after Danny.
Danny stopped in his tracks when he saw the sight in front of him. Jubilee was being held by a wire that was connected to some giant robot.
"What the hell!" Danny said in shock.
"Danny! Help me!" Jubilee begged.
"Hey, let her go, you hunk of junk!" Danny demanded.
The robot looked at Danny.
"Organism identified as unknown." The robot said in a confused voice. Danny looked at Jubilee, who was helpless to escape. There was no way he could save her without going ghost. It was either keep his secret or let this thing run off with Jubilee. He knew what his decision was.
"I never thought I'd say this again, but I'm going ghost!" Danny cried as he transformed into Danny Phantom. After all these years, Danny Phantom still looked the same, with the black and white outfit and the P in the D for his logo. The only change was that he was no longer a ghost boy but a ghost man.
"What the fuck!" Jubilee exclaimed at seeing Danny transform.
Flying towards the robot, Danny shot his Ghost Ray at the cable, causing Jubilee to fall, but Danny caught her in his arms and set her down away from the killer machine.
"Danny, you're a..." Danny interrupted Jubilee.
"We'll talk about this later. Right now I've got to send that thing back to whatever cheesy sci-fi movie it came from." Danny flew back towards the automaton.
"Hey, Mr. T-800 over here!" Danny taunted. When the robot turned towards him, Danny fired a ghost ray at one of the shoulders, causing the arm to fall off.
It was about to swipe at Danny with its remaining limb when a flying woman launched a punch at its face, sending it into another store.
"Woah." Danny was amazed as he recognized her as the southern woman he had run into earlier.
A voice came from behind him. "Yes, Rogue has a way with men." Turning around, Danny saw that it was the other woman, who was now dressed in a white jumpsuit with a cape to match.
"You have any idea where that thing came from?" Danny asked.
"I don't know." She said before she began to glide in the air, and if that wasn't enough, she shot lightning from her hands at the robot. It fell through an escalator before getting right back up. A red beam came out of its hand, knocking the lightning woman through the glass roof.
The iron giant then threw a canister near Danny, which released some knockout gas.
The ghost hybrid started coughing as the gas started to affect him. 'I really need to start training more.' Was his last thought before the vapor finally kicked in.
"Jubilee." He mumbled before he fell to the ground, unconscious.
Jubilee kept running as the robot continued to follow her. In her haste to get away, she ended up running into some man wearing a trench coat and some weird thing around his head.
"Where are you going, petite?" He asked in a Cajun accent.
"Anywhere, but here." Jubilee replied as she noticed her tormentor was getting closer. The man saw this and threw a glowing card that exploded and briefly stopped the giant abomination.
Jubilee was astonished. "How did you do that?"
"With style, petite." He answered confidently.
"I'm out of here." Jubilee said as she took this chance to escape as the man yelled for her to come back.
"Wait! Gambit will help you! I'm a mutant too!" This left him wide open for the machine to knock him into a car that was on display.
"What did I ever do to deserve this?" Jubilee said to herself as she kept running. "I didn't ask to be a mutant."
The metal titan threw another canister that released some knockout gas. She coughed as she felt herself getting woozy.
"I've got to keep running." She chanted. God, she hoped that Danny was alright.
If her day wasn't already weird enough, she ended up running into another strange person. He was wearing a visor that made him look like a cyclops.
"Who are you?" She asked.
"Cyclops." The man answered. "Get down."
"I don't have a lot of choice." Jubilee said weakly as she fell unconscious in Cyclops's arms.
Cyclops soon came face-to-face with the one causing all this trouble.
"Energy blasts, huh?" Cyclops commented. "Here's one from a pro." He fired a red beam out of his visor that decapitated the menace. Finally stopping him.
Danny's eyes snapped open. 'What happened to me?' he thought. Moving his head, he could see that he was in a bed in some kind of hospital room.
He couldn't help but chuckle as he remembered how his friend Tucker was scared of hospitals. To his right was Jubilee, also in one of the beds.
Danny sighed in relief. "Good, she's safe."
This stirred Jubilee from her slumber. "Danny? Is that you?"
"It's me. Don't worry, Jubilee, we're safe." Danny responded.
"Where are we?" Jubilee looked around the room.
"Ok, on second thought, we're not safe until we know where we are." Danny said. The two got up and went to the door.
Jubilee tried to open it, but it was locked. "Oh no, we're locked in."
"Don't worry, there's another way out." Danny grabbed Jubilee as he phased them through the door.
Jubilee was impressed. "You can do that?"
A smug grin was on Danny's face. "Yep."
"How come you never told me that you had powers?" Jubilee demanded. Danny shushed her as he looked around the corridors. It looked like they were in some kind of underground bunker.
Once he knew that they were alone, Danny addressed Jubilee. "Keep quiet; we don't know where we are. So here's what we're going to do: I'm going to turn us invisible, and we'll find our way out. Hold on to me and don't say anything."
Jubilee obeyed and did as she was told. Now invisible, the duo explored their surroundings. In one room, they found a blue-furred creature walking on the ceiling and mixing some chemicals.
Danny had a look of bewilderment on his invisible face. 'Well, that's something you don't see every day.' Danny tried another room, where they saw a regular-looking guy watching TV. As he kept changing channels, the man started to shapeshift into the different people that were on the channels. One of those people was Jubilee, who was on the news. 'Great, that's just what we need. More attention on us.'
If that wasn't bad enough, a voice sounded over the speakers. "This is Professor Xavier. Code three. We have an intruder."
Stopping himself from swearing at the inconvenience, Danny dragged Jubilee through the halls, where he could hear people following them.
Coming across a cylindrical chamber, he phased himself and Jubilee through the doors. They were surrounded by darkness until they started seeing the wall start to change into different formations. Then a spiked ball came their way, which Danny was able to dodge.
Danny was really getting pissed off at the madness of this place. 'What kind of place is this?'
It turns out they weren't alone in the room, as the man with the trench coat was sparring with another man in yellow spandex, who tackled him.
"Had enough Cajun?" The yellow spandex man teased. "Just say uncle." He then started sniffing his nose. "Who died?"
The doors opened as all the others came in.
"Are they in here?" The visor man asked.
Wolverine nodded, pointing to where they were. "Right over there."
Danny grimaced. 'Well, I guess I can't hide forever.' He dropped his invisibility, exposing them to the newcomers. "Look, can someone just tell me where we are?"
"You're in our automated simulation room, also known as the danger room," Visor man said, "I'm Scott, and we're the X-Men."
"X-Men?" Jubilee asked.
"Professor Xavier will explain in his office." Scott said. "Follow us."
Danny shrugged. What else was there to do?
The group made their way to the office, where a man sat in some kind of floating hoverchair.
"Greetings," Xavier said, "I'm Professor Charles Xavier." He offered his hand to Danny.
Danny shook it. "I'm Daniel Fenton, but my friends call me Danny. This is my foster sister, Jubilee."
Xavier smiled. "A pleasure to meet you both. I would like to introduce you to my students." He introduced his students as he pointed to them. "This is Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops."
"Good to meet you." The visor man offered his hand to Danny, who accepted it.
"Ororo Munroe, also known as Storm, has the power to control the elements."
"Hello." The lightning lady said.
"Control the elements, huh?" Danny observed. "That sounds like a cool power to have."
"It is, but I must be careful with my emotions," Storm stated, "as they are linked to my powers."
Danny couldn't help, but agree. He'd hate to have that kind of burden.
"Hank McCoy, also known as Beast." Xavier said.
"Salutations and greetings, my good friend." Beast bowed humbly.
A chuckle escaped from Danny's lips. He already liked this guy. "Nice to meet you."
The shapeshifter stepped up. "The name's Morph," Morph turned into an exact clone of Danny, "nice to meet me."
Gambit smirked. "Gambit at your service, and the grumpy fellow over there is Wolverine." He nodded to the man in yellow spandex, who only grunted. Guess he wasn't much of a talker.
"Jean Grey, who has telepathy and telekinesis." Jean was dressed in yellow and blue spandex and also wore some kind of protective headgear. She had long red hair wrapped in a ponytail.
The red hair reminded him of Jazz; she even had the same empathetic look in her eyes.
Danny stared at her for a bit, caught up in the memory of his beloved sibling.
"Are you alright?" Jean was concerned. She couldn't read his mind; he apparently had some impressive mental shields.
Realizing what he was doing, Danny apologized. "Sorry, it's just that you look like my sister."
"Really?" Jean was intrigued. "Maybe I could meet her one day."
Danny looked down at the floor. "She's dead."
"Oh, I'm so sorry; I didn't mean to-" Danny cut in.
"It's alright; you didn't know." He left it at that.
"Finally, we have Rogue, whose ability is power absorption."
The southern lady winked at Danny, who failed to hide his blush. She was a very gorgeous looking woman with a body to die for, and the yellow and green spandex only added to her allure.
"So y-you," Danny stuttered a bit, he always got tongue tied around a pretty girl; at least his pants didn't fall down this time, "can take any power you want?"
"Sure can, but it only works through skin contact." Rogue explained.
Understanding dawned on Danny. That was why she pulled away when he touched her hand at the mall. Did that mean she had his powers then?
"Wait, that means you absorbed my powers back at the mall, right?" Danny asked.
"Actually, sugar, I didn't get your powers at all." Rogue said.
Danny contemplated that detail. "I guess I'm immune then?"
"Guess so." Rogue said as she pulled off one of her gloves. "May I?" She asked, indicating his hand.
"Sure." Danny offered his hand. Rogue took grabbed it and held on. Everyone else gasped in disbelief.
Rogue now looked at Danny in awe. "How come I can touch you?"
"Not only that, but you have some impressive mental barriers." Jean informed him. "I couldn't get into your head at all."
"Neither could I." Xavier added. "You are a most interesting kind of mutant."
"Wait, you're a mutant too, Danny." Jubilee blurted. She remembered when Danny told her that he understood what she was going through. Apparently, he really meant it.
"I did see you transform." Rogue pointed out. "With those white ring things."
"You also fired a green blast from your hand." Storm stated.
"Also, you can fly." Jubilee mentioned.
"What I want to know is, how come you smell dead?" Wolverine said.
"What!" All the occupants in the room exclaimed.
Wolverine growled. "He has the scent of death on him. Yet he's still breathing." He got closer to Danny. "How is that possible?"
"Ok," Danny relented, "the truth is that I'm not a mutant."
"Then what are you?" Rogue questioned.
"I'm a ghost." Danny said, taking in most of their looks of disbelief.
"A ghost?" Scott was skeptical.
Danny rolled his eyes. "I can prove it." He phased his hand through Wolverine, who jerked back at the sudden action.
"He really is a ghost." Wolverine shivered. "Also, it felt tingly."
"Actually, half ghost." Danny clarified, before he turned into his ghost form.
"I had an accident once when I was fourteen in a lab, and I got these powers." Danny explained.
Jubilee was looking at Danny as if she'd never seen him before. "You had these powers all along? How come you never told us?" She demanded.
Danny felt uncomfortable at the question, but he did owe Jubilee some answers. "Because I left that life behind a long time ago. I used to be a superhero called Danny Phantom, and I would fight ghosts-"
"You're a superhero!" Jubilee shouted. "This is so cool! You're just like Spiderman or the Fantastic Four."
Gambit was confused. "How come we've never heard of you."
"I lived in a small town in Illinois." Danny answered.
"Why did you leave?" Jubilee asked.
Danny's eyes darkened as the memories came back. "I used to protect my town from ghosts, but one day one of them killed my friends and family. Since then, I've decided to live a normal life, and I ended up getting into the foster care program. That's how I met Steve and Martha."
"I'm sorry, Danny?" Jubilee apologized. "I didn't know that you went through that."
"It's ok, Jubilee." Danny reassured her. "I mostly moved past those times."
Jubilee then had another question she wanted to ask Danny. "What happens now?"
Danny looked at Xavier. "What is it that you guys do exactly?"
"We are a team that is dedicated to bringing peace between humans and mutants. This is my school, a place for mutants to develop their powers and be able to live safely."
"That means you could help Jubilee control her powers, right?" Danny asked.
"Yes, we would be open to accepting Jubilee into our program."
"Great." Danny said happily. "See, Jubilee, I told you that I would find a way to help you get through this. Now you can train your powers here."
Jubilee didn't look comfortable with the idea. "But what about trying to be normal?"
Danny put his hands on Jubilee's shoulders. "Jubilee I hate to say this, but life isn't going to go back to normal." He saw her about to interrupt, "Listen, I know you want it to be like before. Trust me, I did too, but it's not going to happen. I know that seems scary, and it was for me, but I got through it by taking it one day at a time. Eventually you'll get comfortable with your powers, and it'll feel like you've always had them forever."
Jubilee was still hesitant. "I don't know."
"Look, how about we talk about this later with Steve and Martha?" Danny turned to the X-Men. "Speaking of which, do you guys have a phone I can borrow? I want to let them know that we're alright."
Rogue nodded. "Yeah, you can. Here, follow me." Rogue saw that Jubilee was still looking nervous about the whole mutant thing. "Jubilee, you can rest in one of the spare rooms. You look pretty tired."
"Why not?" Jubilee said.
After Jubilee got settled in her room, Rogue took Danny to the phone. "Here you go, sugar."
"Thanks." Danny said gratefully.
Rogue smiled. "You're a good brother; you know that. I'm sure Jubilee is happy to have you around to watch her back."
Danny blushed. "Yeah, Jubilee is a good kid. I don't want her to struggle with her powers alone like I did."
"Well, if she decides to stay here, we'll take good care of her, I promise."
"Appreciate it." Dialing the number, he waited for someone to pick up. Unfortunately, no one did. "That's weird."
Wolverine walked in. "Hey, the professor is calling a meeting." He pointed at Danny. "And he wants to talk to you."
"About what?"
The Canadian shrugged. "Don't know, but it's important, so hurry up."
Getting to the meeting room, Danny was approached by Xavier.
"Ah, Daniel, perfect. I need you for this meeting." Xavier turned on the computer screen, showing the head of the robot that they fought at the mall. "I managed to retrieve part of the robot's visual memory." On the screen, it showed an ID photo of Jubilee. "There! That ID photo is from the Mutant Control Agency registration files. That's how the robot found her."
The phantasmal superhero once again cursed Steve for getting him and Jubilee into this.
"Professor Xavier, could the government be plotting against mutants?" Cyclops theorized.
"It makes sense." Danny said. "Claim that you're helping them when you're really just going to get rid of them. We've seen this before in history."
"Sadly, yes." Xavier agreed in a dejected voice. He gave Danny an intense look of determination. "That is why I've brought you here. I know that you have the power to go invisible and intangible. Abilities that make you the perfect candidate for stealth operations. I feel that the only way to protect any more innocent mutants from being hurt is to go to their headquarters and destroy all their files. I feel your powers would make the mission a lot easier. Therefore, I ask you, Danny Phantom, will you help us protect your sister and others like her?"
Danny looked at the ID photo of Jubilee as he reflected on the information that he had learned. Jubilee's face was so innocent and helpless, to think someone would try to hurt her just because she's different. Not only her, but other innocent people are being marked for abduction by those tin cans of oppression. The urge to protect swelled within him. It was still there and just as strong. It was always there and will continue to be there because it's in his nature. His nature to keep the innocent out of harm's way. Danny now knew what to do as he gave a heroic grin to Xavier.
"I'm in."
