Chapter Eighty
Fast Asleep

His entire family were fast asleep, upstairs in their room; Gabby was sleeping in their bed, and the boys were in their cribs. And that was fine with Matt, as he knew that they were tired (hence why they were currently fast asleep) after a long day; which is also why he most certainly understands why they need to take a nap right now. But since they're fast asleep, it gives Matt an opportunity to do something else; and now, he isn't talking about working on Gabby's birthday again. Rather, he's talking about making his beautiful wife some supper. But little did he know that Camila was going to be doing that for them; and she didn't know that he was going to be helping her. That's something that he's going to make sure he does, as he wants to make Gabby supper on her birthday; and there's no way that Camila can stop him from doing that, when Gabby is his wife. So, she's going to have to give in, and let him help make the pasta that she's making this evening. "So, I see that somebody's already decided to start supper?" Turning her head, Camila smiled.

"Matt, I didn't know that you were coming to make supper?" Matt smiled, agreeing with Camila as she said that; after which, he carried his and Gabby's water bottles to the sink. "Gabby and the boys are fast asleep, with the boys in their nursery. So, I thought I'd come do something nice for Gabby." Camila smiled when Matt said that, loving how much her son-in-law truly cares for her daughter. "Well, that's nice; but I think we both know that this is really so you don't get in trouble, when she catches you working." Matt snickered a bit when she said that, as he's already been caught once today. "No, she understands if I need to work, because I need to make sure that I continue the company; I am the CEO after all, which means that I'm the head of the company. But that's not something that we're going to talk about right now, as I'm here to make my wife some supper." Camila agreed with her son-in-law as he said that, before watching as Matt walked over to the pot that she already had on the stove; after which, he grabbed the spoon.

Tasting what was in the pot, Matt smiled as he could tell that the sauce that was currently on the stove was being made from scratch; however, it was pretty bland. "That's pretty bland." Camila agreed. "That's because I haven't done anything with it yet, I'm just starting it." Matt agreed with Camila as she told him that. "What type of pasta are you making? Or are you still figuring that out?" Camila smiled. "I'm making a Chicken-Mushroom Pasta." Matt thought about it, before coking his head; after all, he never thought about ever making that type of pasta. "I never thought of that type of pasta. Do you mind if I see the recipe?" Camila laughed a bit as she heard her son-in-law ask her if he can see the recipe, as there's no recipe; rather, it's something that she's made for years and knows how to make by heart. "Oh, there's no recipe. I have made this pasta for years, as it's one of Gabby and Antonio's favorites." Matt agreed with Camila when she said that, smiling at her. After which, he decided to make his way over to the fridge this afternoon.

"So, are we going to be having a salad to go with it? Or do you eat the pasta on it's own?" Camila smiled as she heard Matt ask her that. "No, we have the pasta on it's own. Now, I do need to know though; do you know what you and Gabby are doing for supper?" Turning around to look at Camila, Matt closed the door to the fridge as he was confused. "What do you mean?" Smiling at her son-in-law, Camila proceeded to clarify what she meant. "I mean, how's Gabby feeling? Because I'd like to know how thick to make some of the sauce. I normally make it runny, but I can make it thicker if you're going to be eating in bed? However, I would really appreciate it if I can have supper with my daughter on her birthday." Matt took a breath when he heard Camila ask him said question, as he wasn't sure. "Well, that's the thing. I've never experienced this with Gabby, and I'm not sure what to do right now." Camila agreed with her son-in-law as he mentioned that, as she was well aware of the fact that he's never been with Gabby at the start of a pregnancy.

"Are you mad at Gabby that she didn't come back when she felt bad?" Matt was shocked that Camila even asked him that. "Hey, of course not. Why would you even think that way Camila?" Camila, taking another breath in the process, turned to look at Matt once more. "I just…I don't know, I kind of feel robbed of the chance to have been there from the start. I know, I'm not her husband and that I…" Matt then proceeded to get close to his mother-in-law, before putting his hand on her back. "Hey, take a breath." Camila agreed with Matt when he said that, before hearing Andy come out of their room. "Oh, there's Andy." Turning around to look at his dog, Matt smiled when he heard him. After which, he walked over to him and bent down. "Hey buddy, where'd you go? I didn't see you in our room when I woke up." Camila laughed, smiling. "I think I saw him outside a minute ago." Matt agreed with Camila as she said that, before realizing what must've happened. "He must've gone out through our door to the backyard." Camila agreed with Matt.

After which, she proceeded to ask him a question. "So, listen. I need some help. I need to make sure that I make enough for everybody, and I'm not sure how many people are coming to supper?" Matt agreed with Camila when she said that. "So, we have you and Gabby, me and Antonio, Eva and Diego, Jay and Alex, Kelly and Stella, and Will and Natalie? Or am I missing somebody?" Matt shook his head as Camila asked him whether she was missing somebody as she most definitely was not. "No, I don't think so." Camila smiled when she heard Matt tell her that. "Good, I was worried that I forgot somebody." That's when Matt and Camila both heard Antonio come inside. "Forgot somebody? What's wrong mom?" Turning her head, Camila smiled at Antonio. "Oh, I'm just talking about the number of plates that I need to make for supper tonight." Antonio agreed with his mother as she said that, understanding what she's saying. "Okay, that makes sense. But what's Matt doing out here? I thought he's taking care of Gabby." Matt agreed.

"Gabby and the boys are all asleep, so can you please keep it down when you go take a shower?" Antonio agreed with his brother-in-law as he asked him to make sure to keep it down when he goes to take a shower, which is something that he most certainly can do. "By the way, sorry I didn't work today." Matt was confused. "What do you mean?" Antonio sighed. "I thought, with Gabby being sick…you might've wanted us to work a bit." Matt shook his head. "I gave you guys the day off today, and that didn't change just because Gabby's sick." Antonio agreed with Matt when he said that. "Thanks man." Matt agreed with Antonio when he said that, before smelling him. "Okay, you need to really go take a shower. You wreak." Antonio laughed. "Don't complain, I just took your mutt for a run." Matt was shocked when he said that. "Antonio…" Matt sighed as he looked at Camila. "Camila, can you give me a moment alone with him?" Camila agreed. "I'll go check on the boys in the nursery." Matt agreed with Camila as she said that, smiling. "Thanks."

He was now alone with his brother-in-law, having just taken over making the sauce so that it doesn't burn; at the same time, he was ready to talk to Antonio about the fact that he took Andy for a run. And that's not something that he can do without his permission, especially not when he's a service dog. He's trained to respond to him, and he can't be treated like a regular pet. He highly doubts that he would've done that to Max. Just taking a breath, Matt turned to look at Antonio. "Antonio, you know that you can't do that right?" Antonio just looked at Matt when he said that. "Matt, he needed it. You need to take the dog out for a run." Matt just looked at his brother-in-law when he said that. "Oh really? You don't think I know that." Antonio agreed with Matt. "Dude, what's the big deal? I took him for a walk? Big deal." Matt just looked at Antonio when he said that. "Big deal, uh yeah it's a big deal!" Antonio just looked at him. "Yeah, because I did you a favor!" Matt just stared at him when he said that. "No, you didn't do me a favor!"

Antonio then got close to him. "Hey, keep your voice down. Your wife is…" Matt was not happy when he said that. "Don't you dare bring her into this, because this is between me and you." Antonio just looked at him. "Matt, take a breath and relax…" Matt pushed him away. "No, I will not relax! I will not relax when you took my dog for a walk, without my permission! He's not a dog in the way! He's a service dog, and he's mine!" Antonio just looked at his brother-in-law, and was about to speak; but first, Matt continued. "Would you have taken Max for a walk if Jay was taking a nap?" Antonio just looked at Matt. "Okay, that's completely different." Matt was shocked that he had the nerve to say that. "Oh really? What makes it different?" Antonio snickered. "Because you're my brother-in-law." Matt looked at him. "Okay, so just because I'm your brother-in-law; that makes it okay for you to take the dog that stops me from having PTSD away from me, when I'm sleeping? When let's say…I could have one of my SONS on my chest, and flail my arm."

Antonio got nervous when Matt said that. "Oh, but let's make sure that Andy is for away from his handler when he's taking a nap, so that he can't stop him from hurting his PREGNANT wife or son. Yeah, because that's what you do when you have a brother-in-law who has PTSD! You take the dog that's supposed to STOP him from having PTSD on a walk…when he's supposed to be doing his job." Antonio could clearly tell that Matt was mad at him right now and tried to get close to him. "Matt, I'm…" Matt just looked at Antonio. "No, don't you dare apologize. You don't understand what a different that dog has made in my life. He's made a world of difference, and I do not want you touching him. For now, stay the hell away from Andy; because if you touch my dog again, you will be suspended from your job…without pay." Antonio just looked at Matt when he said that. "Matt, I still have child support to pay!" Matt agreed. "Oh, I'm sorry. You have child support; well, I need my support with me more than you need money. Last time I checked, I have PTSD!"

That's when Matt heard Jay come out of his room. "Hey, what's going on with the yelling?" Turning his head, Matt looked at Jay. "Oh you know, Antonio just took my service dog for a walk; because he said that he needed one, and that he thought it was a good time since I was asleep." Jay turned his head to look at Antonio when he said that, just as unimpressed as his brother-in-law. "You want me to talk to him?" Matt agreed with Jay when he asked him that. "Oh, and Antonio…" Antonio looked at Matt when he said that. "I don't want to hear crap about your COO yelling at you, because that's not what's happening right now. We are off duty, we're at home; and you're talking to my friend who understands what I'm going through. If you dare try and punish him afterwards, you will get repercussions from me; including less money for Eva. Remember, she's not my daughter; she's my niece, and I don't have to pay for her college." Antonio agreed with Matt when he said that, well aware that's the case. After which, Jay and Antonio went outside.

He just finished leading his friend outside, the army veteran knowing what he has to talk to him about; after all, his boss did tell him what he wants him to talk to his brother-in-law about. And, of course, he could clearly see that he was quite mad about it. But, in his opinion, he has every right to be mad. Andy is not just a dog to Matt, it's a tool to help him deal with his PTSD; and that's something that's really important. For him to have taken away that tool, it really isn't a good thing. Just walking out onto the deck, Jay took a breath; after which, Antonio sighed. "God, I feel like such an idiot. I can see that he's really mad at me." Jay agreed with Antonio when he said that, before walking over to him; after which, he sat down on the deck couch before looking at Antonio. "Antonio, I want to make something clear to you. There's a reason that Matt's mad at you, and that's due to the fact that you took his dog. The dog that he got because he needs it for his PTSD." Antonio sighed as he heard Jay say that, well aware that's the case.

At the same time, he leaned back and sighed. "I was just trying to help." Jay nodded when he heard Antonio say that, as he was well aware of the fact that he wants to help. "And I get that, but you need to tell him before you do it. Oh, and you most definitely do not do it when he's asleep. That's when he needs him the most, and I speak from experience; and that's especially when it comes to when he's asleep with his pregnant wife by his side." Antonio agreed with Jay when he said that, understanding that. "Yeah, I get that now." Jay took a breath. "Listen, I think we always need to remember that this is something that he's trying to figure out Antonio. He doesn't know how this all works, and he's really scared still; and that's especially the case since your sister is pregnant yet. I know when I first got Max, I was worried to let him get away from me; but now, I can do it a bit more because I know how to deal with it. Antonio, he has so much on his plate, that he needs something that's certain in his life." Antonio just looked at Jay. "Other than his wife?"

Jay sighed. "He means a tool that he can use for PTSD, and that will wake him up. And it's a tool for him not to hurt your sister, because I know that's something that's always on his mind; it's always on my mind after all, because the last thing I want to do is hurt Alex while she's pregnant." Antonio agreed with Jay when he said that, well aware that's the case. "Yeah, I get that. And now that Gabby's pregnant again…" Jay agreed with Antonio when he said that, before smiling at his friend. "So, what's for supper?" That's when Camila came back out, looking at Antonio. "Antonio, inside; you're going to come make supper with me. Matt needs to relax right now and take it easy with Gabby, and it's all because of what you did; even though me and Gabby both spoke to you about it." Turning his head when he heard his mother say that, well aware that's the case. "Yeah, I know." Camila just looked at her son when he said that, still not happy about the fact that he even did it to Matt. I mean, why in the world would he do this stupid thing?
