Hi Readers: What did you guys think of the first chapter that I wrote for you guys? Are you glad that I included the Severides for a bit? I hope you are, because I know that I'm glad that I included them for a bit. But now, it's time for me to go check on the other parents who are in the NICU because of a traumatic event. More specifically, Jay and Alex. Hope you enjoy this chapter.
Chapter One Hundred and Four
Daddy's Back, and Ready to Relax
Making his way back inside shortly after taking Max outside, Jay smiled as he walked in to see Alex laying down in bed while still speaking to their friends. "I mean, there's just a lot of movies on here. I highly doubt that we could even go through them if we tried." Laughing a bit as he heard his wife say that (both in his own AirPods, and in person), Jay just shook his head as he already knew that they weren't really going to be watching too many movies. "I think I saw that they have Sex and the City on there, and they may even have Love, Actually; Valentine's Day, and the entire Twilight Saga." Alex agreed with Stella as she said that, glad that she just told them some of the nice movies that they have on here; especially since she knows that she's going to want to watch some of them, whether Jay wants to or not. "I can already hear Jay groaning as we speak, I am sure that he doesn't like the idea of watching those movies." Jay snickered a bit, while also shaking his head as he really didn't want Matt to say something like that. "Respectfully Mr. CEO, I'd like to ask you to shut up before you get me in trouble with my wife." Matt then realized that Jay was (probably) back in their hospital room.
"Let me guess, you're back in your hospital room now Jay?" Jay agreed with his friend as he asked him whether he was back in his and Alex's hospital room, as he most definitely was; after which, he bent down and proceeded to take off Max's leach from his jacket. "Go relax boy, time to take it easy." Max agreed with his handler as he said that, before going to walk over to his bed; after which, he grabbed the squeaky toy-bone that he has. After which, he went ahead and laid down on the bed so that he can squeeze it a bit; at the same time, Alex turned her head and looked at the man she loves (while he closed the door to their room). "I still hate your brother for that." Will laughed as he heard Alex say that, as he was just outside their room (since he wanted to check on Natalie). "Yeah, sure. Because you don't like that it's going to keep him out of your bed." Turning her head to look at her brother-in-law, Alex gave him her death glare; after all, she didn't want to be bothered by that idiot right now. And that most definitely was something that Jay could tell, as he's been able to read his wife's face better than anybody for the longest time; after which, he turned to look at his brother.
"Man, I am going to tell you this right now; we're okay, but I would run before my wife yells at you…which would then lead to me yelling at you." Will was confused when he heard Jay say that, not exactly understanding why Jay would yell at him; especially when Alex would've just yelled at him, probably (he assumes) about the same thing that his wife would've just yelled at him about. "Can I ask why you would yell at me…especially when your wife would've just yelled at me?" Jay took a breath as he looked at his brother, before to look at his wife too. "She's recovering from giving birth." Will then understood what he was trying to tell him, before gulping. "Okay, can I just ask quick if Alex wants any more pain meds? I can call Natalie and tell her, she's just at her counsellor right now." Getting a bit concerned when he heard his brother tell him that, Jay took a breath while looking at the woman he loves. "Do you mind if I…" Alex agreed with her husband as he asked her whether he can talk to his brother, because he most definitely can; as she would like to know why Natalie is currently at the counsellor. Taking a breath, Jay then looked at Max. "Stay." Max agreed.
Once he said 'stay' to Max, Jay then proceeded to walk out of his and Alex's room (again) so that he could quickly talk to his brother; after all, he is a bit worried about him right now. Looking at him, Jay crossed his arms and took a breath. "Okay, what's going on?" Will laughed. "It's nothing, but she just wanted to talk to someone after what happened to Alex." Jay looked at his brother when he told him that, starting to get a bit worried. "Is Natalie okay?" Will agreed with Jay when he asked him whether Natalie's okay, as she's just going as a precaution. "Oh, I promise that Natalie's fine; she's just going as a precaution, and taking the extra step that will allow her to relax. Plus, she doesn't want to be too stressed during the early stages of her pregnancy." That's when Jay heard Gabby speak to him. "Tell Will that Natalie can always call us if she needs to talk to us about that, as we've dealt with it." Jay laughed as he heard Gabby say that, before looking at his brother. "Gabby says that Natalie can always call her if she needs to talk about it."
Will smiled as he heard his brother tell him that. "Let me guess, you're on the phone with them right now? Talking about your life here?" Jay nodded. "And we're just having a general conversation, relaxing as we take it easy." Will smiled as he heard Jay tell him that, before going to put his hand out; after all, he could see that Jay was on his AirPods. After which, Jay went to give him one so that he can make sure that they can hear him. Going to put it in his hear, Will then smiled as he proceeded to speak to them. "I really appreciate that Gabby. I will make sure to tell Natalie that she can call you when I see her next." Gabby agreed with the doctor when he told her that, before laughing. "How close are you to Jay right now?" Jay then decided to answer that question for her. "He's using the other one of my AirPods to speak to you right now." Matt agreed with Jay as he said that, as that was smart. "Smart, makes it easier for us to hear him." Will agreed with Matt as he said that. "But listen, I need to keep going with my rounds. Have a good day."
Gabby agreed with Will when he said that. "Tell Natalie that I said hi." Stella agreed with Gabby. "Same here." Will laughed, agreeing with both of the women. "Me three." Shaking his head, Will promised to do just that. "I promise, I will. Now, I need to get back to work." Jay agreed with his brother as he said that, before watching as he took his AirPod out of his ear; after which, Will passed it back to Jay (who promptly put it back into his own ear). "Just to let you guys know, Will is no longer part of the conversation; and I have the AirPod that he was using back in my ear." Matt agreed with jay when he said that, glad that he said that. "Good, thanks for letting us now." Alex agreed with the CEO when he said that, before speaking directly to her husband. "Can you please come back into the room now Jay? I want to cuddle up to you." Jay agreed with his wife as she told him that, before proceeding to walk into their room this afternoon. Closing the door behind him (again), Jay smiled as he once again looked at his beautiful wife this morning.
"Do you need me to order anything before my brother gets too far away? I can tell him that…" Alex shook her head when Jay asked her that, as all she wanted was her husband in bed with her. "I just want you in bed with me." Jay smiled as he heard Alex say that, as that most definitely is something that he wants to do right now; he wants to hold the woman he loves in his arms, and just hold her close for the rest of the day. "Shirt?" Alex shook her head. "Keep it on for now, I want to just stay calm for now." Jay agreed with his wife as she told him that, as he most definitely understands why she wants to do that; and that's due to the fact that she's still worried about all of this, which he understands. After all, he feels the same way; this is a hard situation, and he most definitely wants to talk to Matt and Gabby about how they dealt with this. Making sure that the door was closed, Jay then proceeded to make his way over to bed; taking his phone out of his pocket at the same time, Jay smiled as he walked right up to the hospital bed and set it down.
And while he thought about getting right back in bed shortly afterwards, he instead decided that he wanted to go see Michael and Olivia first; which he promptly went to do, walking over to their cribs (that's what they're calling them). Just looking at his beautiful children, Jay smiled as he put his hand on his daughter's stomach before stroking it with his thumb. "Hi baby girl, you need to make sure that you fight for daddy; because he wants to take you home at some point." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case. "And we will take them home Jay, in two months I think." Jay took a breath as he heard Alex say that, as that timeline is really long. "Hey, I want you guys to listen to me when I say that." Jay and Alex then both listened up when Matt said that, the couple clearly interested in hearing what they're going to say. "Listen, I know that sounds like a long time; but there's one way that you have to deal with it, and that's to take it day-by-day. You want to know how I thought about it, every day at the hospital?"
Jay agreed with the CEO when he asked him whether he wants to know how he thought about it, every day, while he and Gabby were in the NICU with Matteo and Noah. "I most definitely do want to know what you guys did." Matt took a breath, before explaining to Jay and Alex what they did, as that's something that he already knows is going to help them. "When we were in the hospital, I just thought about how each and every night in the hospital; well, it's one less night until you have to take them home. And while you're in the hospital, you can do a lot. You can get quality time with your children, that you're never going to get back." Jay agreed with Matt as he said that, before proceeding to make his way back over to Alex; that way, he can join her in bed and hold her close. Opening the covers to his side of the bed, Jay smiled as he sat down next to her; after which, he wrapped his arm around Alex and got close to her. He then went ahead and tugged the blankets up on top of the both of them, which then led to Alex cuddling up to him today.
Turning his head as soon as she cuddled up to him, Jay smiled as he pressed his lips against her forehead; leaving soft kisses on it, Jay smiled as he looked down at his beautiful wife while slipping down in bed. Wrapping his arm around her back some more, Jay smiled as he put his hand on her leg and turned his head once again. He then bent down and smiled as he proceeded to kiss his beautiful wife softly, which is something that Alex most definitely wanted. Smiling at her incredible husband as they kissed each other slowly, Alex smiled due to the fact that this really is everything that she wants right now. "I love you." Jay agreed with Alex as she told him that she loves him, as he feels the same way. "I love you too Alex." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, before cuddling up to him once again; after which, she listened to Gabby speak to her. "And that's something that you both need to remember, that you guys love each other. You guys are going to need to lean on each other more than anything, as you are going through this at the same time."
Matt concurred with Gabby as she mentioned what they're going to have to do while they're at the hospital, before he gave a bit more information to Jay; information about what he specifically needs to do for his wife. "And you need to do whatever Alex asks you to do Jay, because she's the one that's dependant on you. And yes, you're both going to want to help the kids; but one thing that me and Gabby agreed to while we were at the hospital with the boys, was that we'd let the doctors take care of the boys. Meanwhile, we decided to concentrate on starting her recovery; and we did everything that we could to make sure that she was okay, and that really helped in her recovery." Alex agreed with Matt when he said that, as that most definitely is something that they need to do. "I think that we can do that, because I do have two months to recover." Gabby agreed with Alex. "But when you have to go ahead from the doctors to go out for a day, I would do it; because I know that it really helped me and Matt, because it gave us time to clear our heads."
Alex was a bit confused when Gabby said that, before asking for some clarification. "What do you mean by that Gabby?" Gabby took a breath, before explaining what she meant to Alex. "You can't stay in that hospital room all the time, because it's hard." Alex agreed with her friend when she said that, well aware that was something that they're going to have to do; after which, she turned her head and looked up at the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. "We're going to have to talk about that." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, before smiling as he bent down and went to kiss her softly; after which, he took things nice and slow with the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "Okay, no making out while we're…." Jay then decided to hang up on the call on both his and Alex's phones, so that he could continue to kiss his wife; after which, they both took out their AirPods and went ahead to put them away. "Let's put these away, then we can do some of that as we cuddle up to each other for a bit."
Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, as that most definitely is exactly what he wants to do. He wants to share a nice kiss when the woman he loves, as he holds her close.
He only left his shirt on for a little while (until they were done on the phone), because he wanted to do something else with his wife now; and while they do still need to relax, that didn't mean that he wasn't going to take it easy with his beautiful wife. The woman that he loves more than anything in the entire world, and the woman that he's crazy about. He just wants to hold her close, and he wants to make her feel beautiful; not that she doesn't already know that she's beautiful, as he tells her that all the time. But still, he was going to kiss her if that's what she wants him to do right now; as she's not the only one that wants to share a sweet kiss with their spouse, as they hold each other in their hospital bed. Walking over to his bag that he has on the couch, Jay smiled as he looked at Max (who was laying down on his bed right next to it); bending down afterwards, Jay smiled as he scratched his head. "You just stay here okay boy? Right now, mommy and daddy want to spend a bit of time with each other." Alex laughed as she heard Jay say that.
"I think we both know what you really mean by that, and that's that daddy wants some sweet kisses from mommy." Turning around to look at his beautiful wife as she said that, Jay smirked because they both knew that he wasn't the only one that felt that way; and that was something that he wasn't going to let Alex deny. "Oh, because you don't want to cuddle up to this and share a sweet kiss with me right now?" Alex smiled as she heard Jay say that, as that most definitely was the case; she wants to hold the man she loves, and just cuddle up to him as he kisses her softly. I mean, what's better than the two of them cuddling up to each other; while also sharing a sweet kiss in bed? And even better, it's for the first time since they had the kids. And that's something that Alex still can't believe, that this is the first time that they're holding each other in bed; with her not being pregnant with the twins, and that they're going to do that for a while. And that's because, unlike Gabby, Alex wants to spread out their pregnancies; which is something Jay agreed to.
They want to have distance in between the kids, as they want to make sure that Alex is healthy; and they want to follow the doctor's general recommendations as to how far apart children should be, even though there's no real "right amount of time" in between children. The truth is, the right amount of time is whatever the parents decide; but Jay and Alex are still going to follow the recommendations, as they want to enjoy their married life for a bit. Ever since they got married, they've been pregnant with the twins; and that means that they've never really had time as just husband and wife, and they've just been expecting parents (who are married). And that's not what they want to be for a while, as they need to first get used to being parents; and he's sure that's not going to be too hard, as Jay and Alex have watched Matt and Gabby's twins (Matteo and Noah) for them sometimes. And boy, was that fun; but if Jay and Alex thought that babysitting those kids were fun, then them raising their own children will be even more fun.
Just looking at his beautiful wife as he thought of all of this, Jay couldn't help but think about how much he loves the woman in front of him. "I love you." Looking up at Jay as he said that, Alex was a bit taken aback; after all, she feels like that came out of nowhere. "That came out of nowhere." Jay smiled as he heard Alex say that, before going to grab some of his deodorant; putting some on, Jay smiled due to the fact that he knew that Alex was loving the sight of him shirtless. "It just came out, and I wanted to say it because of how proud I am of you." Alex smiled as she heard Jay tell her that, because she loves that man so damn much. "I swear, I love you so much." Jay agreed with his gorgeous wife as she said that, before (finally) setting down his deodorant so that he can make his way over to Alex in bed; after all, that was where she wanted him to be right now. She wants him to be in bed with her, and he wants to be there too; as it means that he's going to be holding the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world in his arms.
Quietly walking over to their bed this morning, Jay smiled as he walked down his side of the bed; after which, he proceeded to climb into bed with Alex once again. Getting in with her, Jay smiled as he slipped close to her and then closed the covers; at the same time, Alex got close to the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. And let's just say that was exactly what the both of them wanted to do right now, because they want to hold each other close; they want to cuddle up to each other, and just have a bunch of fun with each other. And Jay most definitely knew that, which is why he's currently holding Alex close to him; and moving his hand to her back. After which, Jay leaned in and proceeded to kiss his beautiful wife again. Moving his arm under her head, Jay smiled as he put his hand on her back and stroked it with his thumb. "Hi beautiful." Alex smiled as she heard Jay tell her that, before getting nice and close to the man she loves; after which, she wrapped her arms around his body while cuddling up to her gorgeous husband.
At the same time, Jay pressed his lips to her forehead as they held each other close. "I love you." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, before turning her head and looking up at him; after which, she smiled at the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. Turning his head too, Jay smirked as he felt Alex put her hand on his cheek. "I love you too Jay, and I'm happy that we're here." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, before moving his hand to her back; after which, he ran his hand up and down her back. "Hey, this is where we both need to be right now; and that's because I want to be with both you and our children." Alex agreed with Jay as he told her that, well aware that was the case; and she will always know that's the case. Jay then proceeded to kiss her forehead softly as they both cuddled up to each other and just relaxed in bed together. "How are you feeling right now?" Alex sighed as Jay asked her how she was feeling right now, as she did have a lot on her mind at the moment. "I'm just a bit worried about the kids' future." Jay agreed.
After all, that was something that he was feeling the same way. "I hope you know that you can talk to me about that, as I'm feeling the same way. I want to talk about it, and I want you to open up to me." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case; after which, she ran her hand down his chest due to the fact that this really is everything that she wants to do with her loving husband. After all, Jay has always done everything that he could to make her feel safe. And that most definitely is something that he always does. He always makes her feel safe, and she's so proud to call him her husband. "Did I ever tell you that I'm extremely proud to call you my husband?" Jay smiled as he heard Alex tell him that she's proud to call him her husband, as he feels the same way about calling her his wife. "And I hope you know that I feel extremely proud to call you my wife too." Alex smiled as she heard Jay say that. "You're just saying that because you want to keep holding me like this." Jay shook his head when he heard Alex tell him that.
"Hey, that's not the truth; and we both know that's the case Alex, because I am proud of you. You have done such a great job when it comes to how you gave birth to the twins, and it was incredible. Sure, we're both worried right now; but you're so calm, and you're relaxed. And I can't help but wonder if you're doing it for my sake." Alex sighed as she heard Jay say that, before tearing up a bit; after which, Jay proceeded to grab her hand and intertwined their fingers. "Hey, look at me." Alex agreed with Jay as he told her that, before looking up at the man she loves more than anything in the entire world; after which, Jay stroked her hand and bent down to kiss her softly. Taking things nice and slow with his beautiful wife as he kissed her, Jay made sure that she felt better (simply by kissing her). "I want you to breathe for me Alex, and I want you to remember that I'm here for you." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know." Jay smiled as he heard Alex say that, as it was exactly what he wanted to hear her tell him.
After which, he moved her hand to the back of it; kissing the back of her hand shortly afterwards, Jay smiled due to the fact that this is exactly what she wanted to do with his gorgeous wife right now. Turning his head once again, Jay smirked as he bent down and proceeded to kiss her softly. Taking things nice and slow with the man she loves more than anything, Alex couldn't help but feel so relaxed right now; especially when they held each other close. "I hope you know that I really appreciate all you've done for me ever since I gave birth." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, as that's something that she doesn't need to worry about. "Hey, you don't need to appreciate it Alex, because it's something that I will always do for you; and that's because I'm your husband, and I love you more than anything in the entire world." Alex agreed with Jay as he told her that, before laying her head down on his arm. After which, he felt Alex cuddle up to him some more; at the same time, he made sure that she did it easily. "Remember to take it easy Alex."
Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, doing just that for him today; after all, she doesn't want to rip her stitches. "Can I take a nap in your arms?" Jay agreed with Alex as she asked him whether she can take a nap in his arms, as she most definitely can take a nap in his arms. "Of course you can Alex, go right ahead." Alex agreed with Jay when he told her that, before going ahead with falling asleep in his arms; at the same time, Jay moved his hand to Alex's back and stroked it with his thumb as they just held each other close this afternoon. And let's just say that him holding Alex in his arms really helped her sleep, as it calmed her down immediately.
