Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Three
Matt Daydream

May 4, 2020 – Casey Headquarters
Today was his first day back after his six-week paternity leave, a leave that he was very happy to have taken; as it gave him a bunch of time to just take care of his gorgeous wife, and their then-newborn baby girl Bella (as well as their now year-old twin boys Matteo and Noah). But now, he was back at the office; and boy, did it feel weird. Especially since he was currently sitting with the few employees that they are actually letting in the office, due to COVID-19. The only employees that they're currently allowing in the office? Well, that would be the people who have homes here at the headquarters: him and Gabby, Camila and Antonio, Kelly and Stella, Jay and Alex; and finally, Will and Natalie. And that was due to the fact that they not only work here, but they also have homes here at the office. So, it's not like they're all going to work from home when their homes are literally in the office. But that meant that he was still getting used to it, and he was glad that the people helping him do just that was his close friends (whom he's known for years).

Taking a breath, Matt looked at the three gentlemen who were currently sitting in front of him: Jay Halstead, Kelly Severide, and his brother-in-law Antonio Dawson; the only people that were currently at the office right now. "I promise, we're almost done this meeting, but I first want to remind you guys that I am really grateful for you guys taking this risk; I know that this is something that you guys aren't sure of." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware of the reason why he wants to meet here at the office, rather than them meeting elsewhere. "Hey, relax Matt; I know why you want to meet here, it's because you want to keep business out of the home." Jay laughed as he heard Antonio say that, because that most definitely wasn't something that was happening upstairs in his home. "Yeah, that's not really been happening at my place; especially not when I'm working there as much as I can, to help Alex with the twins…and so that I can stay away from the rest of the staff. But still, I went down to the sixteenth floor today."

The sixteenth floor being one of the floors that are dedicated to Casey Police, and where Jay and Antonio have their secondary offices as the sixteenth floor is the one closest to the executive floor (where they have their primary offices) in the Casey Police section at the Casey Headquarters. Meanwhile, the floors dedicated to Casey Fire are floors seventeen through nineteen, which means that Kelly has an office both on the nineteenth, as well as the twenty-first floor. "And I went down to the nineteenth floor too, it was a ghost floor. Maybe one or two staff who literally live in condos down the street, and I gave permission to work here at the office, rather than have to set up them with a VPN and everything. And that's subject to change, of course." Matt agreed with Kelly when he said that, before looking at the three of them. "And that's why I have you here. I want to let you guys know that you guys are in charge of your floors, and you can decide what you want to do when it comes to COVID protocols; with the exception of masking and testing here."

The three executives agreed with the CEO when he said that, well aware that was one of the main requirements that he set when they returned to the office; the executives having spent the first few weeks of the pandemic working exclusively from home, where they were always a bit distracted by their children. And that was why they tried to return to the office as much as they could, because it allowed them to concentrate; and just get some work done, away from the kids. But still, they were being cautious; and they were masking up if they were in meetings (like they are right now). "So, listen. I am going to just try and get this going, because I want to get this done ahead of me going upstairs; I am going to go have lunch with Gabby, and just take some time because I need to get some of this stress out." Antonio got a bit concerned for his brother-in-law as he said that, the former detective having promised his sister that he would look out for her husband; and if he thought that something was really wrong, then he would report back to her.

"So listen, I just wanted to let you all know that I have recently paid another bill for the VPN; and I have gotten us a deal, and it will last for the rest of the pandemic. I also got some e-mails from the staff that are working exclusively from home, and they have all asked me about the problems that have come with the VPN and their access to it. And since we have so many staff now, I am going to tell you guys now that you guys all need to send some e-mails to your individual staff lists; and you need to make sure that they send you the e-mails, rather than me. I get that I am the CEO, but I am trying to balance a lot of people; so please, send out an e-mail to all of your staff so that you can do it." Matt then took a breath as he looked up at everybody. "Especially since it happened on my paternity leave, I mean really guys? You guys couldn't pick up the slack and tell your employees not to e-mail me while I was on paternity leave? Not only was I dealing with two boys, but I was also dealing with the pandemic and getting my girls home safe." Antonio agreed with Matt.

"Yeah, I should've done that for you." Taking a breath, Matt agreed with his brother-in-law as he said that; because he was going to have to talk to him afterwards. "Yes, and we are going to have to talk about that afterwards." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. And he knew that, because he knew that Matt was mad; he should've spoken to his staff ahead of time, and he needed to tell them that they should've spoken to him exclusively. And that was due to the fact that Matt had a lot on his mind, including the health and safety of his wife, daughter, and their twin sons. But now, they are doing a bit better since Bella is home. "I promise, I can stay afterwards." Matt agreed with Antonio as he said that, as that most definitely was something that he was going to do; he was going to stay back, so that he can talk to him. But right now, they are going to just concentrate on work; that way, they don't need to have this conversation once again. "Okay, now how about we get this. I need you all to contact your sales reps."

The three gentlemen agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware of what he was talking about. "I want you guys to tell them that they are only to speak to our EXISTING clients, whom we have established relationships with. And if they are approached by other agencies, they are to contact you IMMEDIATELY; and we will decide as to whether we pursue the contract, or if we say that we need to pass. Right now, my main priority is keeping the company going; and being able to keep a majority of our staff employed, and not on furlough. Furlough means that they don't get as much money, and that means that we need to pay them less. However, that doesn't mean that we aren't going to help them." All of the executives agreed. "Now, I need to let you know about something else; me and Gabby have sold our penthouse in Chicago." The three gentlemen were shocked. "What?" Matt agreed. "It gave us extra money, and we are just living here anyways; now, there's a reason for that. I want to let you know that there is an emergency fund now."

Antonio was confused. "Emergency fund?" Matt nodded. "Please let your employees know, that we will support them; and we will make sure that we all get past this as a company, and we will make sure that everybody also gets past this. I want to keep them employed, and I want to make sure that we can keep people healthy; if we can do something to allow them to stay at home as much as they can, then we're going to do that. And that's final. I have already decided that, and we are going to work it out." Antonio smiled as he heard Matt say that, well aware of who really proposed this. "Gabby?" Matt laughed. "You know it. Plus, we also sold the place in Los Angeles; and that will give us more money, because that will allow us to pay people. Now, when it comes to your salaries." Jay, Antonio, and Kelly all got nervous as he said that. "What about them?" Matt sighed as he leaned back. "Listen, I want to just say this. I love you guys, and I know this is going to be a huge ask." The three gentlemen agreed with Matt as he said that.

"I have never taken a salary from the company, and I would like you guys to not take a salary either. Instead…." Matt then went to grab seven credit cards that were attached to his account. "Here are seven credit cards that you guys can have for emergencies. I will pay them monthly as part of your salary. If you need something, you will use these cards. However, if you decide to do something fun; then that is not to be put on the credit cards. These are to be used for food, and emergencies. I just want to make sure that you guys are okay, and that I take care of you guys." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that, smiling at him. "I swear, I am not worthy of having you as a brother-in-law." Matt smirked as he heard Antonio say that. "Oh, remember that when you hear this." Antonio got nervous as he heard that. "What are you talking about?" Matt took a breath. "Antonio, I am going to be appointing you as my senior representative for travel; and you will be the man in charge of doing any business travel for the foreseeable future." Antonio agreed.

"Me, Jay, and Kelly all have young children; and we need to be here, because we need to take care of our families and be safe. You have Camila, and Ramon here to take care of Eva if you need to travel; and she can do things on her own, as well as help us. Me? I have three kids, and I need to be here to keep my baby girl safe. Now, I hope that you guys are all okay with this; and are understanding where I am coming from. I am just trying to do what's best for everybody." Jay agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I know that Matt." Matt smiled as he looked at him, before remembering something. "Now, when it comes to visitors; you are to make sure that they are tested before they come, and that you have my approval. Nobody comes in or out of my building without my permission. And Jay, tell Will and Natalie that if they ever decide to stay in a hotel; then they are to put it on my card, and that I am going to pay for their health." Jay agreed. "We are actually taking care of Owen for them right now."

Matt agreed with Jay as he said that. "Then effective immediately, you are to work from home; and you are not to leave Alex at home alone with three kids. The only way that I can do it, is because I have Camila up there all the time. By the way, Antonio…I want you to try and work from home as much as you can, because I do not want Camila to expose this; Camila needs to stay safe, because she's with Gabby and my three kids all the time." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that. "I already told Eva not to go out." Matt sighed. "I still need to talk to John about how we're going to continue his deal, just tell her to be on standby. I don't know how the deal is working out, because I am not sure whether I want to have his lawyers come in too often; or even clients, because that's risky. After all, I have already closed the second and third floors of the building; and that was not easy to do." Antonio sighed as he heard Matt say that, well aware that was probably not the easiest thing for him to have done. "Let me guess, that was hard for you to do?"

Matt took a breath as he heard Antonio ask him whether it was hard, because it most definitely was hard. "Oh, it most definitely was. But listen, I am not sure whether I am going to be back here this afternoon. Rather, I think I may just go work upstairs for the rest of the day; and unless I need to meet with a lot of people, then I am going to just stay home with Gabby, Matteo, Noah, and Bella." Antonio agreed with Matt when he said that, as that most definitely is something that he can agree with. "I'm glad that's the case, because I know that you're really worried about them." Matt agreed with Antonio as he said that, before taking a breath. "Yes, I am worried about them, and that's why I need to go stay with them right now." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that, smiling at him. "Then how about you get out of here, and go be safe with your family?" Matt agreed with him, smiling as that was exactly what he wanted to do; he wanted to go spend some time with his family, and just take it easy with his family. "Take a bit of time off."

All three of the executives were shocked as they heard Matt say that. "Really?" Matt nodded. "I am taking the rest of the day with the kids, so you guys can do the same." Antonio smiled as he heard Matt say that, glad that was exactly what was he was going to do today; after all, that was exactly what he was going to do as well. He was going to spend some time with Eva, as well as his mother; because that was exactly what they both wanted to do right now. They just wanted to relax and take it easy; and that was exactly what they're going to do, as soon as Matt was upstairs (and he was holding his baby girl in his arms). And god, that was going to be nice.

Walking into his and Gabby's bedroom shortly after checking on the boys, Matt smirked due to the fact that the sight in front of him right now is absolutely beautiful; as it was the sight of the woman he loves, cuddling up to their baby girl in bed. And let's just say that was something that he definitely wants to enjoy for the rest of the day. And luckily, it was exactly what he was going to get to enjoy for the rest of the day; he was going to cuddle up to his girl, as he held his beautiful daughter in his arms. "Don't worry, I already cleaned up; and my hands are all good." Turning her head to look up at the man she loves, Gabby smirked due to the fact that he was currently in the midst of making his way over to her in bed; after all, that was exactly what they both wanted. They wanted to cuddle up to each other in bed, and they just want to spend time as a family. And while they could spend time with all of their kids at once, he would rather just cuddle up to his girls right now. "So, you going to spend time with the boys like that right now?" Matt shook his head.

"Right now, the boys are with our family; and I am going to spend some quality time with you and our daughter, which is what I really want to do right now." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, as that was something that she wanted right now; she wanted to have time with her loving husband, as they just relax with each other. "God, I am so ready to just have you hold me and our little Bella in my arms; and I am most definitely ready to see her cuddle up to you." Matt laughed as he heard Gabby say that, as that most definitely is something that he wants to do with Bella today. Walking over to his side of the bed, Matt smiled as he proceeded to set his wallet down; after which, he set his phone down on his charger. "So, how did your meetings go?" Matt took a breath. "It was a lot of repeating, and just dealing with the same topics; and how I'm going to have to make sure that we keep everything afloat. I already asked that every employee works from home, and we're going to try and keep everybody on for as long as we can." Gabby agreed.

"And I even asked our friends to take a pay cut, so that we can make sure that everything works out; and I can keep paying everybody else for a while, and then I implemented a hiring freeze." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before watching as he climbed into bed with her and Bella; after which, Matt got close to her and wrapped his arm around her. "But that's not what I want to talk to you about right now, because I am here with you and Bella. Yes, that's right; isn't it Bella? You don't want daddy to talk about work right now, because you want to have his attention; yes you do, yes you do." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, well aware that was the case. Heck, it was the case for her husband more than their daughter as he was the one that was really giving Bella some attention. "So, do you want to hold her in your arms right now?" Matt smirked as Gabby asked him whether he wanted to hold Bella in his arms right now, because he most definitely does. He wants to hold his baby girl close to him and cuddle up to his girls.

Going to grab Bella from Gabby's arms, Matt smiled as he proceeded to bring her close to his chest; after which, he cuddled up to her and just smiled due to the fact that this is everything that he wants right now. He wants to hold his beautiful baby girl in his arms, and that was exactly what he was in the midst of doing right now; he was holding his beautiful baby girl in his arms, as they cuddled up to each other in their bed. "Yeah, you like that daddy's home right now? Don't you my little princess." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, as she was really happy to have Matt home; and even better, he was in bed with her as he held his daughter in his arms. Getting close to him, Gabby smiled as she watched as Matt slipped down in bed; after which, he wrapped his arm around Bella as he laid down on his chest. Meanwhile, Gabby grabbed Matt's arm and then proceeded to wrap his arm around her body; because that was what she wanted, she wanted to cuddle up to her man as he held their baby girl in his arms right now (which he was).

Looking down at Bella, Matt smirked due to the fact that she was really happy. "God, you are so beautiful baby girl; and I am so glad that this is what I have right now. I am so lucky that you're my baby girl, and that I have you in my arms right now." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that. "And what about me?" Turning to look at Gabby, Matt smirked as he most definitely was lucky to have her too. "Of course, I'm lucky to have you in my arms baby, as I will always be lucky to have you in my arms." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before smiling as she proceeded to get close to the man she loves; after which, she wrapped her arms around him as they cuddled up to each other. Laying her head down on his chest, Gabby smiled as this was perfect; at the same time, Matt turned his head and just smiled as he kissed her forehead softly. Smirking due to the fact that this is everything that he wants to do right now, Matt turned his head and looked down at his gorgeous wife. "Did you just relax and take it easy today?"

Gabby agreed with Matt as he asked her whether she's been relaxing, because she has been relaxing today; she's been taking it easy, and just enjoyed some time with Bella in bed. "Yes, me and Bella have been having some quality time together." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before bending down and smirking as he went ahead and kissed the most beautiful woman in the entire world; and let's just say that it was exactly what he wanted to do for the rest of his life, and for the rest of his day. Turning his head, Matt smiled as he proceeded to kiss her forehead softly; at the same time, Bella started to cry. "Oh, what's wrong my little princess? Does somebody want daddy to give her attention instead of mommy?" Turning his head, Matt smiled as he adjusted her onesie; after which, he pressed his lips to her forehead as he held his beautiful princess in his arms. "Yeah, my beautiful princess likes it when her daddy holds her in his strong arms; just like her mommy does, whenever we cuddle in bed with each other." Bella just agreed.

That's when Matt decided to lay her down on his chest, putting her head on his heart as he wrapped his arm around her; at the same time, he put his hand on her back and just smiled as he kissed the top of her head. "Hey, you, you're pretty comfortable on your daddy's chest; aren't you Bella?" Cuddling up to her daddy, Bella was really happy right now; after all, she absolutely loves being held by her daddy, and she is in heaven whenever she gets a chance to be held like this by her daddy. "I think that this is what she wants you to do with her for the rest of the day." Turning his head as he heard gabby say that, Matt laughed as he felt the same way; meanwhile, Matt turned his head and proceeded to grab Gabby's hand. Intertwining their fingers, Matt smirked due to the fact that this is something that he absolutely loves doing with his girls. "I think that you like it too." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling at him; after which, he proceeded to kiss the back of her head as they held each other close. "God, I love our life in Hawaii."

Gabby laughed as she heard Matt say that, well aware that was the case. "Yeah, I am so glad that we're back in Hawaii too. This is where we always should've been, and I am so glad that we made the decision to move home." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before wrapping his arm around her some more; more specifically, around her lower back and waist. Putting his hand on her leg afterwards, Matt smirked due to the fact that this is everything that they both want right now. Turning his head, Matt smiled as he bent down and kissed the top of her head. "Listen, as much as I want to cuddle up to you and Bella; we both know that she has to go down for a nap. I was actually about to put her down when you came in." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Here, let me." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before leaning in so that he can kiss her softly; after which, Matt proceeded to get up so that he could bring Bella to her crib. After all, that was where she needs to be right now; that way, he and Gabby can enjoy each other.

And let's just say that Gabby was really enjoying the sight of Matt walking over to Bella's crib. "God, I love it when my man walks over to my daughter's crib." Laughing as he heard Gabby say that, Matt knew why that was the case. "More specifically, in his tight boxers." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before turning his attention back to Bella; after all, she was the one that was currently in his arms. And only when she's out of his arms, can he really concentrate on Gabby; due to the fact that he wants to keep his daughter safe, which she most certainly will be in her crib. Walking up to it, Matt smiled as he looked down at his baby girl; pressing his lips against her forehead, Matt smiled as he was (finally) ready to set her down in her crib. "Take a nice nap sweetheart." Setting Bella down in her crib, Matt smiled as he made sure that she was comfortable; afterwards, he grabbed her blanket and tugged it up on top of her. After which, he turned around to look at the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world; his gorgeous wife.

Getting back in bed shortly after putting Bella in her crib, Matt smirked as he got close to Gabby; after which, he brought her body against his. After all, that was what they both wanted to do right now. Meanwhile, Gabby put her hands on his muscular chest as they cuddled up to each other; slipping her legs in between his shortly afterwards, Gabby just smiled as she knew that they were both really happy. "I absolutely love the fact that all of the kids are currently taking a nap, because it means that we get some time as mommy and daddy; with nobody distracting us." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I love that. After which, he leaned in and proceeded to take things nice and slow with the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "How has your day been so far? You've been relaxing, and just taking it easy?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he asked her whether she was relaxing today, because she was. "Hey, you have no need to worry about that. You need to just take it easy, and relax Matt."

Matt sighed as he heard Gabby say that, before she slipped close to him; slipping her legs in between Matt's legs, Gabby smirked as she wrapped her arms around his back and then held him close. Leaning up, Gabby smirked as she proceeded to take things nice and slow with the man she loves more than anything in the entire world; and let's just say that this really is everything he wants. "I'm working from home now." Gabby was a bit shocked as she heard Matt say that. "Really?" Matt nodded as Gabby asked him that, before smiling at her. "I want to keep our family safe, and that means that we need to stay here at the penthouse; or we go back to the big house." Gabby shook her head. "I want to stay here because I feel safe here. And I feel like we can have alone time here, since my mom lives with Antonio; if we live at the big house, then we don't get this time together. Oh, and you don't get to work; because I don't want you to work from home." Matt sighed. "Baby, I need to now; because of COVID." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling.

After which, she ran her hand down his back and looked up at the man she loves; she then kissed him softly, which was everything that they both wanted. Taking things nice and slow with each other, Matt smirked due to the fact that this is everything that he wants to do right now; he wants to take things nice and slow with the woman he loves, for the entire day. "God, I am so glad that you came home today." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that because that was exactly what he wanted. "I've been thinking, and I realized that this is where I need to be." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, while feeling him move his hand to her hip; after which, she put her hand on his chest and ran her finger down his muscular chest. "I love you." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, taking things nice and slow with his beautiful wife this afternoon. "God, I love you so much." Moving her hand to Matt's neck, Gabby smirked as she took things nice and slow with her incredible husband, who just so happens to also be the love of her life, and the father of her children.

Turning his head, Matt smiled as he bent down and kissed Gabby softly; after which, he turned his head and bent down so that he could kiss her neck. Sucking on it, Matt smirked as he knew that Gabby was already enjoying this feeling. "Oh Matt." Matt agreed with Gabby as he heard her moan, smirking due to the fact that he was enjoying this as much as her. Turning his head again, Matt smirked as he bent down and kissed his beautiful wife softly. "I love you, and I want you to know that this is exactly where I want to be right now; I want to be here with you and the kids." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, glad that was the case. After which, she ran her finger down his cheekbone. "So, what did you and the kids do so far today?" Gabby smiled as Matt asked her that, before telling Matt what they did today (so far).
