Hi Readers: What did you think of the first chapter that I wrote for you guys today? Did you like the conversation that Jay and Matt had in the elevator? But now, it's time for me to do something that I've been meaning to do since we first moved back to Hawaii; and that was give you a Halstead-oriented chapter, which will take place right now. Hope that you guys like this chapter, and the rest of the chapters I write.
Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Eight
Tripler Army Medical Center
It didn't take Jay long to get back to the hospital, where he belongs with his family; after all, that was where he wanted to be. He wanted to be with the woman he loves, his wife Alex; as well as their beautiful children Michael and Olivia, for their entire hospital stay. And god, he is so glad that they are now in the second half of their stay in the NICU; which most definitely is something that the both of them enjoy, especially since they are both going to get some time to enjoy some quality time with their children. And that starts right now, because Jay is back; he's back at the hospital, where they're going to be spending a bunch of time together. But first, he needs to walk past the nurses. And lucky for him, one of his children's nurses is currently at the nurse's station; and her name is Mandy Maten, whom (primarily) takes care of Michael. But that's not what matters right now, because he would rather just get into his and Alex's room right now; that way, he can be with his family. But first, maybe a quick check on them from the nurse.
Walking up to the nurse's desk, Jay smiled at Many. "Hi Mandy." Looking up at Jay, the nurse smiled. "Good evening Specialist Halstead." Jay agreed with the nurse, getting used to being addressed by his army rank, which is something that they do here at the medical center, because it's an army installation (in a way) here in Honolulu. "Has anything happened with Alex, Michael, or Olivia since I first left?" Mandy shook her head as the specialist asked whether there was anything that occurred with his children, or his wife; because that most definitely was not something that he needed to worry about, because everything was okay. "I promise Specialist Halstead, everything is okay; and everything has been okay since you left earlier this evening." Jay agreed with Mandy as he said that, smiling due to the fact that it's exactly what he wanted to hear; and now, they are ready to just go spend some time. "And has the doctor gone by since I last came here?" Mandy shook her head. "No, it's all good; and you can go relax this evening."
Jay agreed with Mandy as she told him that, glad that was the case. "Thank you so much Mandy, and I hope that you know that I really appreciate everything that you guys do here at the hospital." Mandy agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Believe me, I am well aware that's the case; I hear that from every single mother and father that are on the floor, especially when they come in and out each and every day." Jay agreed with the nurse as she said that, smiling due to the fact that it was something that he was well aware of. "Good, because I'm glad that you guys are starting to get the recognition that you guys deserve; you really do a lot of good things here, and there is nowhere I would rather have my children be taken care of." Nurse Maten agreed with the veteran as he said that, smiling due to the fact that she was glad that he was pleased with the service that they were giving him here at the hospital. "Okay, well I am going to have to let you go; because I know what you really want to do right now." Jay snickered.
After which, he looked down at Max. "I think that we both know that you want to go see your family, and just take it easy this evening." Jay agreed with Mandy as she said that, as that most definitely was the truth; he wants to go to their room, and he wants to spend some time with beautiful wife and children. "Thank you so much for the service that you give to us on a daily basis, but I am going to let you go so that I can go spend some time with my family." Mandy agreed with Jay as he said that, before watching as he walked away; that way, he could make his way to the hospital room where he was staying with Alex, Michael, and Olivia. And boy, was he ready to spend some time with them; even if Alex was currently sleeping, which is what he thought she would be doing this evening. She's been so tired as of late, but he also knows that there may be a chance that she would be awake; and that's due to the fact that she doesn't like being asleep when he isn't in the hospital room with her, which she can always tell somehow.
She would rather be awake, in case the kids need her, which they don't right now, as they are still being taken care of by the nurses; but Jay also knew that Alex was not the biggest fan of that, because she would much rather take care of them herself. And soon, she will; but right now, she needs to just relax and recover from the birth. The birth that could very well lead to her having PTSD, and it's actually something that he's watching for; watching for her to show him that she was okay, and that she wasn't always worried. But so far, they are okay and just taking it easy. And that most definitely was exactly what they are going to do, just relax and take it easy with each other; plus, that's what he likes to do with Alex on a daily basis anyways. And thanks to what Matt just told him, he now knows that he's going to be able to do it for the rest of the year; a fact that he was more than ready to share with Alex, especially since he knows that she's going to be thrilled over the news. And that's when he quietly made his way into the hospital room.
And there was a reason why he did so quietly, as he wanted to make sure that Alex stayed asleep; as she was currently sleeping, and he was so glad that was the case. Looking down at Max, Jay smiled due to the fact that he was ready to tell his beautiful wife that he was here; but he didn't want Max to be the one to do that. "Max, sh. Be quiet, because everybody's sleeping." However, that wasn't the case; because he soon heard Alex speak to him. "You really think that I would be able to sleep with you not being here?" Turning his head to look at Alex, Jay smiled as he looked at the woman he loves; extremely happy that she was awake, especially since that means that they can spend a bit of quality time with each other right now. "Hey, I didn't mean to wake you up." Alex shook her head as she heard Jay tell her that he didn't mean to wake her up, because that wasn't what he did. He didn't wake her up right now.
The truth was, she was already awake, which is something that you obviously know now, because Alex is awake. Bending down, Jay went to unclip Max's leach from his vest so that he can go lay down on the bed that he already has set up for him. "Go lay down boy, lay down." Max agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that he also has to be quiet; it's something that he's been taught, ever since they were in the NICU at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. And now that they are in the NICU here, Max has learned that nothing has changed; the rules are still the same, and they aren't going to change for the foreseeable future. "I didn't expect you to be awake when I got back." Alex agreed with Jay as he told her that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I am well aware that's the case based on what you just told Max." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, before walking over to the couch that they have here in the hospital room; after which, he proceeded to set their bags down. That way, he can make his way over to Alex and hold her this evening.
And that was due to the fact that was exactly what Alex wants him to do, she wants him to get close to her; and he wants to make her feel loved. And she also wants a sweet kiss from the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. "Want me to get changed first?" Alex shook her head as Jay asked her whether she wanted him to get changed first, because she would rather share a sweet kiss with her loving husband first; and that was due to the fact that she loves it when he kisses her, which he does on a daily basis. And the truth was, Jay already knew that was the case. He knows that she loves it when he kisses her, and he's always going to kiss her when she needs it. He's going to make sure that she's pleased, and that she feels loved on a daily basis. And that's why he's on his way to give his beautiful wife a kiss, right now. Slipping off his shoes quickly, Jay smirked as he made his way over to Alex's hospital bed; that way, he can give her what she wants right now. Sitting down next to her on their bed, Jay smirked as he looked at his beautiful wife.
After which, he proceeded to grab her hand and intertwined their fingers. "Hey, I am quite surprised that you're awake." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I can clearly see that's the case." Jay smirked as he heard Alex say that, before moving his hand to her neck; after which, he bent down and proceeded to kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "I love you." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I love you too, and I am so happy that you're back." Jay agreed with Alex as she told him that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, did somebody miss me?" Alex laughed a bit as she heard Jay say that, before putting her hand on his neck. "Shut up." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, before putting his hand on her neck again; after which, he stroked her cheek and smiled at the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "How are you feeling right now?" Alex smiled as Jay asked her how she was feeling right now. "I'm feeling good, thanks for asking."
Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, because that was something that he was always going to do. "Hey, I am always going to do that Alex; for the simple fact that you're the woman I love." Alex smiled as she heard Jay say that, well aware that was the case. After which, she smiled as she proceeded to grab his hand. At the same time, Jay smirked as he looked at his gorgeous wife. "So, is there something that you want me to do right now?" Alex laughed as she heard Jay say that, her husband being well aware of what she likes to have him do at night. "I'm just glad that we have a queen bed here." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that. "You aren't getting sex." Alex shook her head as she heard Jay say that, as she already knew that. "God, you are ridiculous." Jay laughed, smiling at the woman he loves. After which, he put his hand on her neck and stroked her cheek. "I heard that everything went good while I was gone." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, as that most definitely was the truth. "Yes, everything went great." Jay smirked. "Good."
Jay then proceeded to get up so that he can start getting undressed, because that's what he wants to do. "Hey, what are you doing?" Jay smirked. "I'm doing what I need to do, because I want to get in bed with the woman I love." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, smiling due to the fact that it was most definitely something that she wanted as well. "Good, because that's what I want too. I want you to join me in bed and hold me close." Jay then proceeded to make his way over to his bags, so that he can grab his sweats; the sweats that he was going to wear in bed. "Are you going to wear sweats in bed?" Turning to look at his wife, Jay smiled at Alex. "Let me guess, you aren't the biggest fan of me wearing sweats to bed tonight?" Alex sighed as she looked at the man she loves, while also watching him take off his shirt; something that she most definitely loves to watch her husband do. After which, Jay set it down in the hamper that they have here in their hospital room (located right next to the little desk they have here in the room).
The desk where he puts his phone and wallet on a nightly basis, which he soon did after he took them out of his pocket; and he also made sure that his phone was on his charger, while also being on silent. This was his routine every single night, and he's done it every day since they got to the hospital in Los Angeles. "So, what am I wearing? Because last time I checked, I wear sweats when I'm in the hospital." Alex took a breath as Jay asked her that, as she wasn't sure what exactly she wanted; whether she wanted to have her husband wear his sweats, or just wear his boxers for him as they cuddle up to each other in bed. That's when she went to look at the time and saw that it was eight. "Can you just wear your boxers? I think we both know that I can easily fall asleep after eight, since it's been having every night; and I want to be as close to what I wear at home." Jay agreed with Alex as she told him that, clearly able to see that she was a bit worried right now. "Do you want to talk to me tonight?" Alex agreed, because she's still worried. "Can we?"
Jay agreed with his wife as she asked him whether they can talk tonight, which they most definitely can.
Walking out of the bathroom in his boxers (like Alex wanted), Jay smirked as he knew that Alex was enjoying the sight in front of her; the sight of him just wearing his boxers, which was what he's been doing every night in the hospital. "You like?" Alex agreed with Jay as he asked her whether she liked the sight of her dreamy husband just wearing his boxers for her. "Well, I do like the sight of my husband in his boxers; and I think we both know that's the case." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, before smiling due to the fact that this is something that she wants him to do. "I know that you always want me in boxers." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, because that most definitely is the truth. "Oh, I sure do want to have you in your boxers; and I am just glad that you are okay with doing it here in the hospital." Jay laughed as he heard Alex say that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I think we both know that I would never be able to get away with me not wearing my boxers here in the hospital." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that.
"Oh, now if that isn't the truth." Jay smirked due to the fact that he was ready to just spend some time with his beautiful wife, before walking up to the desk (like she just did); after which, he set his phone down and just smiled at the woman he loves. He then went ahead and started to make his way over to the most beautiful woman in the entire world, which will always be the case. "So, I spoke to the nurses when I came in; and they said that everything was okay while I was gone." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that because everything was okay. "Yes, that is the truth." Jay smiled as he heard Alex say that, as he was really happy that was how it went. "Well, I'm glad; because I want you to be okay with the kids." Alex smiled as she heard Jay say that. "So, what took so long? I thought you said thirty minutes." Jay laughed as Alex asked him that, because that was led to the funny story that he has to tell her. "Oh, now there's a funny story that I need to tell you." Alex was confused as she heard Jay say that. "What are you talking about?" Jay smiled.
"Let's just say that I went the wrong way on the elevator." Alex was still confused, before watching as Jay proceeded to walk right up to the side of the bed. "You want to sit up? Or do you want to lay down?" Alex smiled. "I want to sit up for a bit. The doctor said that I need to just sit up some more, while he also said that I can still cuddle up to you since my stitches are out." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, glad that was the case. "And boy am I glad that's the case, especially since it means that we can be in bed with each other like this." Opening the blankets, Jay then proceeded to climb into bed with the woman he loves; that way, they can cuddle up to each other and just hold each other close. After all, that was exactly what the both of them wanted to do right now; they want to hold each other close, and they want to cuddle up to each other in bed. "By the way, Matt and Gabby send their love." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I'll send her a text." Jay smirked. "Apologize for me at the same time."
Alex was confused as she heard Jay say that. "What are you talking about?" Wrapping his arm around Alex as soon as he was in bed, Jay moved his arm around her back; after which, Alex leaned against his chest and cuddled up to him while laying her head down on his chest. Afterwards, Jay grabbed the covers and went to tug them up on top of the both of them; especially since that was exactly what Alex wanted him to do right now, hold her in his arms while he tugged the covers up on top of the both of them. "God, I am always so comfortable when we're in each other's arms." Jay agreed with Alex as she told him that, before smiling as he turned his head and kissed her forehead softly. "Oh, I am well aware that was the case; and I can say that Matt and Gabby feel the same way when they are in each other's arms." Alex was confused when Jay brought up Matt and Gabby. "What are you talking about?" Jay smiled as he looked down at the woman he loves. "I may have gone the wrong way in the elevator on my way here."
Alex was shocked as she heard Jay say that. "Wait, you mean…" Jay nodded. "Remember when we were on the phone, and I had to hang up?" Alex agreed, remembering how he had to end their call quite abruptly. "Yes." Jay then proceeded to kiss her forehead softly. "That's because I went right up to Matt and Gabby's room in the penthouse." Alex was shocked as she heard Jay say that, before laughing a bit; after all, she thought that he was joking. "You're joking." However, Jay was quiet. "Oh god, you aren't joking." Jay shook his head as Alex asked him (again) whether he was joking, because you know that he wasn't. Looking up at Jay, Alex just cuddled up to him before rolling over so that she could grab her phone. "Hey, what are you doing?" Alex then went to open her phone so that she could send Gabby a text message. 'Did Jay really go up the elevator instead of down? Right into your bedroom?'
Rather than just send a text message to Alex so that she could answer her question, Gabby decided that she was going to give her a call; and that was exactly what they did, they gave Alex a call so that they could all talk about it. And that was due to the fact that the situation was a bit funny, hence the reason for a call. Seeing Gabby's name on her Caller ID, Alex smiled as she knew what that meant; it meant that it was the god's honest truth, and that Jay did in fact go right up to Matt and Gabby's bedroom. Answering the call, Alex smirked as she proceeded to do something on her husband's behalf. "On behalf of Jay, I want to apologize for what he did to you guys." Turning his head as he tugged the covers up on top of Alex, Jay looked at his beautiful wife. "What did you just do that for?" Turning her head, Alex glared at Jay as she didn't want him to say anything right now; not when he needs to apologize to her for what they did. And that's just the truth. "Are you really going to argue with me right now, when our bosses are on the phone with us?"
Matt laughed as he heard Alex say that. "Especially when you interrupted the sexy time that I was getting with my wife!" Hearing a bit of anger in his boss' voice, Jay knew that Matt was mad. "Sorry about that Matt." Matt then decided to calm Jay down, as he was just joking. "Oh, calm down Jay and take a joke. Just relax because that's what I was doing. I was joking, because you guys need to laugh right now; I can only imagine how much stress you guys are under right now." Taking a breath, Alex decided to give Jay her phone so that he could hold it; meanwhile, she would cuddle up to him and just relax in his arms. Grabbing Alex's phone, Jay smiled as he held it for her; at the same time, he turned his head and kissed her forehead softly. "God, I am so glad that you just cuddled up to me like that." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, smiling as she put her hand on his chest and cuddled up to him some more; at the same time, Alex look up at her incredible husband while he held her in his arms. Wrapping his arm around her back, Jay smiled at Alex.
After all, what's better than the feeling of her cuddling up to the man of her dreams. "So, how are you doing Alex? Are you feeling better?" Alex agreed with Gabby as she asked him whether she was feeling better, as she most definitely was; especially now that she wasn't recovering, but just spending time with her husband and their children. "I'm feeling much better, especially now that I'm just spending some time with my husband rather than have to recover from giving birth prematurely." Gabby agreed with Alex as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I am well aware of the feelings you're probably feeling right now; especially since we were in the same place as you guys were in the past, but in Hawaii instead." Alex agreed with Gabby as she said that. "I hate to ask you to do this, but I would love it if you came here so we can talk about what you did to deal with it." Gabby sighed as Alex asked her to do that. "I'd rather not, especially not when I'd rather not have those memories/nightmares in my head as I'm pregnant with our little girl."
Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "You okay Gabby?" Gabby agreed with her husband, giving him reassurance. "I'm fine, we can talk after; okay?" Jay took a breath as he heard Gabby say that, feeling bad that they even brought that up. "Sorry that we even brought this up guys." Matt stopped Jay from saying that. "Hey, take a breath Jay and just relax. You have nothing to worry about. Just concentrate on your family and make sure that you guys are okay." Alex agreed with Matt as he said that, glad that was all he wanted them to do right now; after all, what's better than the two of them concentrating on their family. In her opinion, there's nothing better than the idea of being able to concentrate on their family, which also means that she gets to cuddle up to her dreamy husband, Jay Halstead. "I appreciate that Matt." Matt agreed with Jay as he said that, before going to speak up. "And I hope to god that you know that you guys don't need to work right now, and that you guys can just take it easy for the rest of the year right now."
Alex smiled as she heard Matt say that, glad that was the case. "Well, I appreciate that Matt." Matt laughed. "Guys, I promise that we're going to make sure that you guys just take it easy and relax; you have no reason to worry about that, and you most definitely do not need to work when you guys need to concentrate on your family. And if I see you guys log on to your e-mails, I will block it." Jay sighed. "I may be using that e-mail as my e-mail for the VA now, so can you not?" Matt agreed with Jay as he said that, understanding that was the case. "OK, but that's the only thing that you can do. Do not work whatsoever." Alex laughed. "Oh, I am making sure that he doesn't work; because I am cuddling up to him in bed right now rather than let him work." Gabby agreed with Alex as she said that. "God job girl. Now listen, we're not going to keep you guys for too long. You need to rest, and we're actually just on an ad break for our movie." Alex smirked as she heard Gabby say that. "What movie are you guys watching?" Gabby laughed.
"Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again." Alex agreed with Gabby as she said that, as she loves that movie, which then prompted her to turn her head and look at Jay, who already knew what they were going to be doing either tonight or tomorrow. "Thanks a lot Gabby." Gabby laughed as she heard Jay say that. "Sorry Jay, but just enjoy the movie and relax." Alex just looked at her husband, before smiling; after which, she rubbed his chest to try and get his attention. Turning his head, Jay smiled as he bent down and proceeded to kiss Alex softly. Taking things nice and slow with the woman he loves, Jay smirked due to the fact that this is everything that he wants to do right now; well, just as soon as they are done talking to Matt and Gabby. "Listen, I think that we're going to let you guys go. The ad break is done, and we need to just watch the movie; plus, the faster we finish, the faster my husband is happier." Matt then went to complain. "Hey, I'm not complaining!" Gabby just laughed as she heard Matt say that, but she knows it's the opposite.
"Okay, listen. We need to relax and take it easy. How about we just call it a night, and we can talk tomorrow?" Matt agreed with Jay as he said that. "We'll see, we have the weekend together; we're going to unpack the penthouse." Alex agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Well, have fun." Gabby laughed as she heard Alex say that. "I think that I will, because I am going to be relaxing as much as I can; and that's because my husband is probably not going to let me do much." Alex agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, we both know that you love your husband doing that. But nonetheless, we're going to let you go so that you guys can enjoy your movie. Have a good night and talk to you guys tomorrow." Matt and Gabby both agreed with Alex as she said that, before hanging up. At the same time, Alex turned her head and looked up at Jay. Smirking as he hung up his own phone, Jay then proceeded to put his phone down on his side table; after which, he put his hand on her neck.
Bending down, Jay smirked as he proceeded to take things nice and slow with the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "I love you." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, before sighing. "Listen, lay down and relax. I have to go to the washroom; then I want to cuddle up to you, as we relax in bed." Jay agreed with Alex as she told him that, before watching as she got up so that she can go to the washroom. At the same time, Jay went ahead and laid down in bed so that he could get comfortable (ahead of them cuddling up to each other and watching a nice movie).
