Chapter One Hundred and Seventy-Four
First Day Home: Hi Hank
To say that Alex was a bit nervous when it came to speaking to her father, well that would be an understatement; especially since this was the first time that she was going to talk to her father since she gave birth to the twins. And that was just something that she didn't know if she was emotionally ready to do, but she still felt like she just needed to do it; that way, it was out of the way. It was done, and it was something that she no longer had to worry about; because that was really what she and Jay both wanted. They both wanted to just get it out of the way, and they wanted to make sure that they relax with each other, which is what Alex needs to do, as she just gave birth to their twins. And that's just one of the reasons why Jay was a bit nervous when it came to them making this call in the first place, but he also knew that this is what they both need to do; they need to get it over with, so that they can relax with each other afterwards. He just hopes that Hank plays along, which then made Jay think of something. "Alex, I am going to talk to your dad first."
Turning her head, Alex looked at the man she loves; confused, Alex decided to press him for reasons why he wanted to speak to her dad alone first. "Is there a reason why?" Jay agreed with Alex as she asked him whether there was a reason, because there is a reason. "I want to talk to him about the fact that you're still recovering, and that he needs to take it easy; and if he wants to keep talking to us, then I need to make sure that he takes it easy on us." Alex agreed with Jay as he told her that, as that was a good idea. "Then speak to him alone first." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, glad that she was okay with that; after which, she proceeded to take his phone (which they used to call Hank this time around) off speakerphone so that he can talk to him alone. At the same time, he wrapped his arm around Alex to keep her close to him; and while he did that, he also knew that Alex would relax…which is just what she needs to do while they hold each other close right now. Especially since Hank just answered. "Hank Voight, Intelligence." Jay then groaned.
"Hank, it's Sunday. Are you seriously at work right now?" Hearing Jay's voice, Hank was a bit shocked. "Jay? Wait, is Alex okay?" Jay was a bit confused as he heard Hank say that, as he just called him. "Yeah, I'm just calling you back; you just called me, remember?" Hank then (obviously) put Jay on speakerphone as he started to speak to him with an echo, something that he could clearly hear on his end of the phone. "Oh, I think that was a mistake. Your name is still right under Adam still in my phone." Jay just shook his head as he heard Hank say that, not too happy about that. "Seriously? You called us on a mistaken call? And can you explain to me why I'm UNDER Adam when I'm your son-in-law?" Hank then realized that. "Yeah, maybe I should change that." Jay agreed with Hank as he said that. "Yeah, you should. But listen, I'm not calling about that; I want to first check that Olivia Benson spoke to you recently, about a topic that we asked you to talk about? How you are to talk to us while we're still recovering from what you did to us in September."
Hank sighed as he heard Jay say that, well aware that he was the one that did that to his daughter; and that most definitely is something that he's very ashamed of, especially because of what he did to his daughter. "Jay, I need to really apologize for that again. I really am sorry about that, and I hate that I even did that; it was just…" Jay then went to stop Hank. "Hank, I am not getting back into this. But listen, I know that you want to talk to us; and you want to hear how everything is after she just gave birth. More specifically, she wants to try and work things out. But Hank, I am letting you right now; I'm going to be monitoring the call, and I am going to protect my wife. Hank, you need to be careful right now; because you're on shaky ground with me, especially how you're the reason that my wife had to go into prematurely labor with the twins." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know, and I still feel horrible about that; but you already knew that." Jay agreed with Hank as he said that, well aware of that fact.
"I know, and I'm glad that you recognize that fact; and that's why it shouldn't be a surprise to you that I'm going to be making sure that Alex rests, and that we don't get into a fight. If I think that a fight is going to start, then I'm not scared to end this call prematurely; and you are going to just have to be okay with that, as I need to do what I think is best for my family." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, as that was something that he can respect. "And the truth is, I respect you for that. Dad-to-dad, I respect that you need to do whatever you can to protect your…" Jay then interrupted his father-in-law, not wanting him to say that. "Yeah, I would go there Hank; I would not bring up that topic, especially not after how you treated your daughter. So, you are in no place to judge when it comes to that, and you should already know that." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, as that most definitely was the truth. "Yeah, I guess I really do need to shut up when it comes to that." Jay agreed with Hank as he said that. "Okay, now I'm going to put Alex on with us."
Taking a breath, Jay then decided to remind Hank. "But I am warning you Hank, that I am not scared to hang up if you put Alex's health at risk; in fact, before we agreed to call you, me and Alex talked. And we spoke about it as husband and wife, that I have every right to end the call prematurely if I feel like it's putting her health at risk; and if that happens, then you aren't to call back." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, more than able to agree to those terms. "I can agree to those terms." Jay agreed with Hank as he said that, glad that was the case. "Thanks for agreeing to that Hank, because I really am worried; remember, I am a father now too. And my first priority right now, is my wife and children; and that means that I am in papa bear mode right now, for both my wife and children. And you know what your papa bear mode is, well mine is worse; especially since…" Jay then went to speak into the mic even more specifically. "…it gave me some more PTSD, you jack ass!" Hank gulped as he heard Jay say that, well aware that was a possibility.
"And I'm really sorry about that Jay, because I really hate that I did that to you; I just wish I could go back, and change everything." Jay agreed with Hank as he said that, well aware that was the case. However, they both know that they can't go back. "Oh, one more thing. Under no circumstances are you to mention that you want us to go back to Chicago, or that you want us to travel. Our home is Hawaii, and that isn't changing; is that understood Hank?" Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was going to be the case; especially after what Olivia told him, since Alex has had many conversations with her. "How about we start by talking about me telling you guys about the last conversation that I had with Benson?" Jay agreed with Hank as he said that, as he believes that's a great place for them to start. "I think that would be the best place for us to start, as it would let Alex know that you've spoken to someone that we all trust; and whom we all know isn't afraid to put you in your place, even though you're a strong leader in intelligence."
Hank laughed as he heard Jay say that, well aware of what he's trying to say right now. "Just say it Halstead, I'm scared shitless of Olivia Benson." Jay laughed as he heard Hank say that, as that most definitely is the truth. "Sorry Hank, but that's just the truth; as much as you say that you are okay with working with her, and that you can easily make sure that joint investigations are led by you…you always cave to her." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that. "Just make sure that Adam doesn't know that she's my weak point." Jay sighed. "Okay, I don't want you to read anything into this; but please, tell me that you chose Upton." Turning her head, Alex couldn't help but get a bit jealous when Jay said that. "Excuse me? But what's this about you advocating for Upton?" Jay sighed as he pulled his phone away from his head, covering the microphone. "Talking about his new number two. Who do you trust more? Her or Adam?" Alex thought about what Jay just said, and just nodded. "Okay, now I get what you're saying; I think that Hailey is better than Adam."
Jay laughed as he heard Alex say that, before going back to his conversation with Hank; but first, he decided to put the call on speakerphone. "Listen Hank, I'm going to put you on speakerphone before I get in trouble with my wife." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, before letting him put him on speakerphone; doing just that, Jay smiled as he wrapped his arm around Alex and just held her close. "Okay, you're on speakerphone Hank; and remember what I said, one misstep and you're on the backburner again." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know Jay. How are you doing Alex?" Alex took a breath as she proceeded to speak to her father. "Good, recovering, still worried." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case; and Jay knew that was well, as he soon got close to her. Kissing the side of her head, Jay then slipped down in bed some more; after which, Alex cuddled up to Jay some more while they spoke to her father right now. "I know, and I really am sorry Alex." Alex agreed.
She then turned her head and looked up at Jay. "Jay, I'm going to tell him about the future; is that okay?" Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, before turning her head and kissing her forehead softly. "Go ahead." Alex agreed. "Hank, this is my life now. This is where I am going to be, and it's where I belong. If you can't accept that…." Hank, interrupting his daughter made sure to calm him down. "Alex, did you not hear your husband's rules?" Jay then looked down at Alex, smiling at her. "Just take a breath and take it easy baby, remember that everything's going to be okay; and that's because I'm right here." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case; after which, she turned her attention back to the conversation that they're in the midst of having with her dad. "How are you doing Alex? You feel better?" Alex agreed. "Under the circumstances, I am doing much better." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, well aware that was the case. "And I can tell you this, she loves being home; home with the kids, who are fast asleep."
Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, knowing what that means. "I promise, I'll relax and take it easy. But I do want to thank you guys for the updated pictures, I know that I have no right to request that. But they are so adorable, and I can't wait to meet them at Christmas." Alex took a breath as she heard her dad say that, because she wasn't sure about that. She then looked up at Jay, who already knew what was on her mind; and that's why he just kissed her forehead softly and gave her the reassurance that she needs for her to know that she can tell him what she's thinking about right now. "Hank, I think this year we might just do it with the kids if that's okay; I think…" Hank took a breath as he heard Jay say that, well aware why that would be the case. "Let me guess, you guys just want to spend it as a family?" Jay agreed. "We just need to relax, and take it easy…but maybe next year, that's all I can promise. Maybe we can call you, plus we're still not exactly all moved in here." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, feeling the same way about it.
"Plus, we're going to be doing something right after we finish celebrating Christmas with Will and Natalie; and that means that you can't be here, because we both know that you aren't just going to come for forty-eight hours." Jay smirked as he heard Alex say that, well aware of what she was talking about. "What are you guys doing?" Jay smirked. "Me and Alex are going to be doing our first anniversary celebrations, from Christmas to the New Year; because that's when I go back to work, first week of January." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, even though he thought that was a short leave. "Wait, only a month off?" Jay laughed. "I've been off since Alex gave birth." Hank thought about it again and agreed with Jay as he said that; after all, that makes a lot of sense. "Yeah, that makes sense." Jay agreed with Hank as he said that because it definitely does. "Anyways, we need to get back to earning our money." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case as she cuddled up to him once again, while also speaking to her dad.
"So, I'm going to send some gifts if that's okay? I mean, are you guys okay with that?" Alex agreed with her dad as he asked her whether she was okay with him sending some gifts for the twins (and her). "Of course, you can send some gifts dad, we'd love that." Hank agreed with Alex as she told him that, glad that was the case. "Good, because I can't wait to get pictures of it too. I want to see that, and I actually expect pictures of my grandkids with some of the gifts their grandpa sends; and then hopefully, we can work something out later that I can meet them." Alex agreed with her dad, as that was something that she wanted too. That's when she thought about something, about how she might as well just do it; turning her head, she looked up at Jay. "Jay?" Turning his head, Jay smiled at Alex; after which, she just thought about something that was one her mind. Just this feeling like her dad needs to come, because there's a reason why; and she just can't explain it. "I think my dad has to come; I can't explain why." Jay was confused.
"Are you sure Alex?" Alex took a breath, sighing. "Jay, I can't explain this feeling that I have; but I know that I need to have him here for Christmas, because I have this feeling that something's going to happen." Jay was confused as he heard Alex say that, ready to talk.
Laying down in bed after ending their call with Hank, Jay was just a bit confused as to whether she was changing her mind as to whether her dad should come; and why that would be the case, because it's a huge 180. I mean, why would she change her mind like this? Moving his hand to her side, Jay brought Alex close to his chest before wrapping his arm around her back; after which, he slipped his arm under her head and just cuddled up to him. At the same time, Alex put her hands on Jay's muscular chest and looked into his eyes. Stroking Alex's back, Jay was a bit confused. "What's going on Alex?" Taking a breath, Alex sighed. "I can't explain it, but I just have this feeling that something's going to happen next year; and that might mean that her dad can't be here next Christmas." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, before feeling her wrap her arms around his torso; at the same time, he put his hand on her arm and rubbed it. At the same time, he kissed her forehead and just held the woman he loves close to him right now.
"And what does that mean?" Looking up at Jay, Alex took a breath and sighed; after all, she has no clue when it comes to why she feels this way. I mean, it's a lot to deal with and she just wants to talk it through with Jay. "Jay, I'm not sure how to tell you this. But I feel like there's just going to be something that happens that's going to stop my dad from coming here next year, and that I think we need to have him here this year instead. And that's all I know." Jay agreed with his beautiful wife as she said that, not wanting to argue with her about it. "Do we need to call him back?" Alex shook her head. "Let's just think about it, because the kids are going to wake up soon." Jay agreed with Alex as he said that, wrapping his arm around her before bending down so that he can kiss her softly. Taking things nice and slow with the woman he loves more than anything, Jay smirked. "Do you still want to call Olivia?" Alex sighed as she proceeded to move her hand to the back of Jay's head, who also moved his hand to her back and stroked it with this thumb.
At the same time, he stroked her back and kissed her softly; after which, he took things nice and slow with the woman he loves. After all, that's exactly what the couple and to do right now; they want to hold each other close, as they take things nice and slow with each other. And since that's exactly what they're in the midst of doing right now, they are not going to stop under any circumstances; rather, they're going to continue, and just have fun with each other. "I want you to keep kissing me…because this is really nice." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I can most definitely see that's the case." Alex smirked as she heard Jay say that, well aware that he was really happy right now; at the same time, he decided to roll over and brought Alex on top of him (while also moving his hands to her back). Wrapping her arm around Jay's head, Alex grabbed the back of his head and just smiled as she started to take things nice and slow with Jay right now. "Remember to take things slow with me baby, not too much."
Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, well aware that was the case. "I know Alex, I know that we need to take it easy; and I know that we need to relax, and that you need to rest. But still, I think that I still want to take it easy and just relax with you; because this is something that I'm really enjoying, which is why we're both really happy with doing this right now." Alex smirked as she heard Jay say that, well aware that was the case. I mean, what wife wouldn't want to take things nice and slow with her loving husband; even though she just gave birth, that doesn't mean that she's not hormonal for her gorgeous husband. "Listen, do you want to talk about this now? Are we going to invite your dad?" Alex agreed with Jay as he asked her whether they're going to invite her dad to Christmas, as they are….just not right now, as she wants to do something else. "Just not right now, as I want to do this; I want to take things nice and slow with you, and I just want to enjoy your lips on mine…because I know that you're enjoying this just as much as I am Jay."
Jay laughed as he heard Alex say that, as he most definitely is enjoying the feeling of her lips on his, especially when she's so damn sexy; and boy is that what his wife is, and she is also very beautiful. There truly is nothing like the feeling of the two of them just holding each other close, as they enjoy each other in bed; because that's what they're in the midst of doing right now, enjoying each other in bed. This feeling that they both have right now is incredible, and they are both extremely happy right now. "God, you are such a turn on Alex." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, don't act like you weren't secretly wanting this the entire time." Jay smirked, as he most definitely was wanting this the entire time that they've been in bed with each other. "Can you really read me that well?" Alex agreed with her loving husband as he asked her whether she can really read him that much. "Of course, I can, because I love you more than anything in the entire world." Jay just smirked due to the fact that they're both so damn happy.
And the fact that they're in the midst of doing this right now is everything that they want to do right now, because there's nothing better than the feeling of her loving husband giving her exactly what they both want right now; a bunch of intimacy, she just wishes that her children didn't want to help her get this time. Moving his hand to Alex's back, Jay took a breath and looked at the woman he loves. "Looks like this is going to have to wait." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, before bending down so that he can kiss her again; after which, he took things nice and slow with the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "God, you are so damn sexy; and I am so glad that we're in the midst of doing this, but we need to get going. I need to feed the kids." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, well aware that was the case. "I know that you need to, I just hate that it means that I need to get you out of my arms." Alex laughed as she heard Jay say that, before rolling off of his chest; at the same time, Alex just got comfortable in bed.
At the same time, Jay got up so that he can make his way over to the cribs; but first, he turned around and looked at the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. Slipping over in bed, Alex smirked as she looked up at the man she loves more than anything in the entire world; at the same time, Jay moved his hand to her body and smiled as he bent down and kissed her softly. Taking things nice and slow with the woman he loves, Jay smirked due to the fact that this is everything that they both want to do right now. They want to have fun, and they just want to take it easy with each other; pulling away afterwards, Alex smiled as she looked at her beautiful husband. "I love you so much, and I am so glad that this is what we're in the midst of doing with each other right now. Just holding each other close, as we have fun together." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, as that's exactly what he wants to do as well; but first, they need to feed the twins. "We need to feed the twins first." Alex agreed with Jay, smiling at the man of her dreams.
Getting up, Jay smirked as he proceeded to adjust his boxers (as they always move down some when they're in bed); after which, he proceeded to turn around so that he can make his way over to the twins' cribs so that he can bring them both to their bed. That way, they can feed them both together (which is what they want to do with each other). They want to hold each other close, and they want to just feel the kids. And that's exactly what they plan on doing, just as soon as Jay is back in bed with the woman he loves. "So, we're just going to feed the kids now, right?" Alex agreed with Jay as he asked her that. "And we're going to calm down a bit." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, well aware that was the case; after all, they are parents…as are their neighbors (who just so happen to work for them, but they don't know that yet…as they have yet to meet their neighbors).
