Hi Readers: And welcome to another day of chapters. Before we begin, I want to apologize for having ended so early last night, but I started to run out of ideas for what to do in another chapter (last night); but now, I have some more ideas for you…and I'm ready to write some more chapters, and to continue this story. Now, I just want to clarify something that I just said; what I said doesn't mean whatsoever that I'm anywhere near done this story (I mean, we do need to do some more business; and we need to meet the girls). I promise, this story is just getting started; and I am more than ready to keep this story, so let's do just that for you guys.
Chapter One Hundred and Eighty
Breakfast in Bed, as Requested
He had a smile on his face, regardless of the fact that he and his wife were still in a period of mourning; as he made his way back into their bedroom, carrying the plate of egg sandwiches which he made for breakfast this morning. And there was a reason behind him making this as their breakfast, because it was a breakfast that Matt knew that Gabby would enjoy; and not just because she requested that they have egg sandwiches for breakfast today, but because she enjoyed them. They were one of the many breakfasts that always brought a smile to Gabby's face, because of how delicious she found them; especially when they were made by the man she loves, her husband Matthew James Casey. The man of her dreams, the father of their children, and her one true love; the love of her life, in other words. And that's the only way that Gabby can truly describe how much love she has for Matt, that he's the love of her life; and the only man that she could ever see herself being with, as she loves the life that they have with each other…with their children.
Right now, their handsome sons Matteo and Noah; and in the future, their beautiful daughters Bella and Emily. And in Matt's eyes, they are going to be the most beautiful baby girls in the entire world; for the simple fact that they are the product of his love for Gabby, whom he truly believes is the most beautiful woman in the entire world (then again, he's biased as her husband). And everybody knows that, because every husband is biased when it comes to who they believe is the most beautiful woman in the entire world; because their answer is always their wife, as it should be (for obvious reasons). But the reasons that Matt says that Gabby is the most beautiful woman in the entire world is not just due to the fact that she truly is beautiful, but it's also due to her heart; she has such a big, beautiful heart…and that's just one of the things that makes Matt truly love her more than any woman he's ever loved before. And it's also a reason why Gabby will never have any reason to feel like anybody can replace her, as nobody can replace him.
She's done so much for him, and she's been willing to put so much on the line in the past. May I remind you that, based on the information at the time; Gabby wanted to risk her life, just so that she could give Matt a child. And while that ended up not being the truth (as she didn't really have an aneurysm), that doesn't take away from the gesture; and the strength that comes with having to make that decision, and the risk that it would mean for Gabby. Both physically, and emotionally; as there was (at the time, based on the information they had), a chance that she would die giving birth. And that meant that there was, at the time, a risk that Gabby would never getting (a) a chance to raise the baby with Matt, or (b) never even get a chance to meet said child; and that would be due to the fact that she could've died giving birth to the baby, or even both. But that didn't happen, and Gabby is here with Matt to raise all of their children together, which is just another one of the many (obvious) reasons that she's earned the title, "my miracle".
Because that's what Gabby is to Matt, she's his miracle; and she's the one that gave him a second chance at love, one that he never thought that he'd ever have after Hallie died in such a tragic manner. (That, of course, being one of the main reasons why he was against Gabby being pregnant in the first place; but you already knew that). But now, those memories are a distant pass; as Matt has this new life to live, with Gabby and their children. A life that he's madly in love with, almost as much as his wife; whom he loves more than anything in the entire world and can't wait to raise his daughters with (just as they are currently raising their sons together). And that's something that they need to remember each and every day, that they have been blessed with this life; and if God didn't want them to have five children, then that's okay. Anyways, it probably would've been hard to do five children; not that they wouldn't have figured it out, because they've always figured things out. I mean, they are dealing with it the best they can; as nobody's perfect.
Nor are situations perfect or is god fair at times; because that most definitely is what Gabby is thinking about right now, just how unfair this is. I mean, of all the people who should've lost their triplet son; why would it be them, when they want to have so many children? It's even making her wonder about a lot of things, things which Gabby will most definitely have to talk to Matt about; whether she wants to or not, as Matt can see that she's in the midst of thinking pretty hard right now (as he walked into their bedroom with their breakfast). "I recognize that face anywhere." Turning her head as she heard Matt walk into the room, Gabby smiled as she was glad that he was in their room once again. "Are you thinking about something?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he asked her whether she was thinking about something, as she most definitely was. "But I can stop thinking about it, now that breakfast is here." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before smiling at her. "Or we can talk about it." Gabby smiled and agreed.
She then watched as Matt closed the door (but not all the way). After all, he does want to give Andy the ability to walk into their room; just in case he wants to sleep on his "bed" in here, which is really the couch that they have in their private living room/sitting area. It's actually where Andy sleeps a lot, while also keeping an eye on Matt; but at night, he always sleeps at the end of their bed. And that's due to the fact that it's where he was trained to sleep, at the end of their bed; so that he can make sure that Matt doesn't have PTSD and injure Gabby in the process (which is always something that worries Matt). Whether he's going to injure Gabby in the middle of the night is always something that's on his mind, as he doesn't want to hurt her (or the babies); nor does he want to put the pregnancy at risk, especially not after they already had a (partial) miscarriage (and lost one of the babies, a son). And that brings Matt back to the real reason why they are in here in the first place, which is to mourn for the loss of their son: Jackson David Casey.
God, that name just sounds so perfect, and Matt can only think about what it would've sounded like to say that name each and every day; the name Jackson, as he plays with him in the backyard (which is something that he can't wait to do with Matteo and Noah). And soon, he will get a chance to do it; as that's something that he's already promised himself, that work will never take priority over his family. He will be home with their sons regularly, he will be the type of father that plays with his sons, he will be a sports coach (if they pick a sport that he can coach), and he's going to be at the games; he wants to have that life, and he won't let his responsibilities as a CEO ever get in the way of the responsibilities that he has as a father, and as Gabby's husband. And that's why he's here this Monday morning, rather than be at the office; here's here so that he can take care of Gabby, rather than being at work. Because this is where he needs to be, at home with his family so that he can help his wife grieve their loss; rather than doing work at the office, or here.
Yes, he could work from his home office; and therefore, just be a call away from helping his wife. But that's not the type of husband that Matt is, nor will it ever be the type of husband that Matt will be. Rather, he's the type of husband who spends time with his wife, in bed as they grieve. He doesn't sit far away, and just wait for her to call on him so that he can hold her; he actively holds her in his arms and makes sure that she's okay (as often as he gets a chance to ask her). And that just makes Gabby so happy because it's a way for him to show her that he cares; not that he doesn't care, and she knows that. Gabby knows full well that she (and their boys) are his main priority right now, not the company; he has staff (and friends) that can take care of the company for them, he's going to take care of her right now. That's where his heart is, and that means he needs to be here with his wife; taking care of her, as they mourn their loss together. Because that's what it is. Gabby didn't loose Jackson alone; they lost their son together, and they'll mourn that way.
They'll mourn their shared loss together, which is what you do when you're husband and wife; you mourn together, and you hold each other close to help your respective spouse get through the pain of loosing a child. And that's especially the case, when it's not the first child that you've lost together; in fact, it's their third biological child that they've lost together (fourth overall). They've recently remembered that they lost another baby, while Gabby was in Puerto Rico during the summer of 2018; as a result of the fight that they had, as to whether they should ever try for a baby in the first place. Yeah, talk about great timing. They literally had a fight as to whether they would have children, while Gabby was pregnant with their first child (who was viable); and that is still something that haunts Matt to this day, and will always haunt Matt…as he feels partially responsible for them having lost that child, because of the fight that they had before she left to go to Puerto Rico; which is just one of the reasons why he calls that, the worst day of his life.
Sure, he could've called the worst day of his life the day that he almost died; but him causing them to miscarry a child, that's just even worse…and it's still on his mind, to this day; he just hasn't really talked about it with Gabby, as he doesn't want to bring up memories from the past. Bad memories, that really hurt them; and that are painful to look back on, or even think about. And that's why he doesn't do it all that often, as he doesn't want to cause himself more pain than they have to; as that's what they're already in, a lot of pain and suffering that they're dealing with right now in the aftermath of the loss that they're dealing with. And that's why Matt's plans today revolve entirely around making Gabby feel better. He wants to hold her in his arms, and just make her feel better; because that's what she needs him to do right now, she needs him to hold her close and make her feel better. Whether that be here in bed, or if it's somewhere else; then he's more than ready to do just that, and he's going to do it for the rest of the day today.
But first, he just needs to get her attention; as she's currently in the midst of looking away from him, out the window as she concentrates on something other than him right now. And Matt could only think of one thing that his beautiful wife might be thinking about right now, and that would be Jackson; as it's been everything that's on her mind, ever since they learned that they lost him at the hospital. Taking a breath as he walked up to his side of the bed (and set his coffee down, because he ended up grabbing some), Matt then decided not to say anything to Gabby; that was, until he was with her in bed. So, he decided to just set the food down on his side table; as there was something else that he had to do prior to getting in bed with the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. And that would be get undressed, so that he can hold her in his arms clad in his boxers (which is exactly what Gabby wants anyways). She wants him in his boxers, as she was currently just wearing her lingerie for him, which is why it was clear.
It was clear to him what she wanted, and how she wanted him to hold her in his arms; so, he wasn't going to disappoint his wife. He was going to do exactly what she wanted him to do right now. He was going to get undressed, and then climb into bed with her; that way, he could hold her in his arms and make her feel better (well, as much as one can when you're grieving the loss of a child). And that's only made even harder, when you never get a chance to meet (or hold) said child, which is exactly what he and Gabby are dealing with when it comes to Jackson, not that they haven't dealt with it before. Or at least, she hasn't; he didn't know that she miscarried until months later, and it took him time to really grieve that loss. But now, they were grieving together again; something that they had to do back in 2015, after the "loss" of their first child (even though will said their wasn't really a baby). But still, these circumstances are just so much different; and they're also harder, because there is a child (still) inside of Gabby. A son.
But at the same time, there are also two other babies still growing inside of her; their daughters, who are still viable, and they're going to meet when Gabby gives birth to all of the babies (one of which is already dead). And he just can't even think about how hard that time is going to be, her having to give birth (and see their unborn child); heck, it almost makes him wonder whether Gabby might just want to be asleep during the birth, or however they can deal with it. But there's a lot of things that they need to talk about when it comes to that, as the last thing that Matt wants is for Gabby to be scarred by that sight, the sight of their unborn son, their dead son in the doctor's hands. God, just the thought of it hurts Matt; and he can't imagine how much it would hurt Gabby, if she was in the midst of thinking about it. But he prays to god that she doesn't think about it, as he doesn't want her to have the thoughts in her head. Right now, he wants her to concentrate on healing; and he wants her to think as positively as she can at the moment, as she's pregnant.
He doesn't want her to fall into a depression while she's pregnant, as that's not a good thing; that would have really bad consequences for their health, and it's something that worries him each and every day. But he could never tell Gabby that, as it would break her heart; and it would just put more on her, that she doesn't need to worry about each and every day. It would be a real burden on her, and the last thing Matt wants to do is burden his wife with anything else; she's already dealing with enough, and he doesn't even know how she's doing with it comes to that. So, it terrifies him when he thinks of what she might be thinking of right now; and even if she does talk to him about it, would she really be honest with him? Would she tell him everything that's on her mind right now? That's an unknown, and he hates that he even needs to wonder about that; but that's just how his mind works, because of how well he knows his wife. He knows that Gabby has a hard time talking about things, and that's why he doesn't want to push her to talk too much.
But right now, he needs to get her to talk to him; especially since he doesn't want to be sitting in bed in silence, as he was about to climb into bed with her. But first, he had to do something else; he had to take off his shirt, which was exactly what he was in the midst of doing for Gabby. Slipping his shirt up off his head, Matt then proceeded to (quietly) pick up his pillow as to not startle Gabby; he doesn't want her to have to roll over and look at him, not when she looks so peaceful as she looks outside right now. He wants her to keep doing just that, looking outside as she breathes; breathing will get them through this hard time, and they both knew it. And that was the entire reason behind Matt opening the covers and climbing into bed with Gabby. As that was what she needed him to do right now. She needed him to join her in bed, get close to her; and then, she needed him to hold her in his arms. Well, and eat breakfast of course; you can't forget that she needs breakfast, for the sake of their daughters (and herself). But first, time to get her attention.
The feeling of Matt's soft lips on her back was exactly what Gabby wanted to feel as he joined her in bed this morning, her loving husband having (obviously) just finished making them some breakfast and coming upstairs with it; but as he was laying down in bed with her and holding her in his arms…it was clear just where their breakfast currently was, and that was on his side table so that he can do this for now. Not that Gabby was really complaining, as she wanted Matt to do this for her right now. She wanted him to hold her in his arms, and she wanted to feel his lips on her back (as they looked outside together) as it was really calming; it just reminded her how much she truly loves her husband, and how much he truly loves her more than anything in the entire world. And even better, it reminded her that they were in this together; and that they would be in this together for the rest of their lives. And that was something that Gabby could never forget that she and Matt were in this journey together; until death do them part.
And if her loving husband wanted to hold her in his arms right now, then that was something that she was going to let him do right now, as it was very comfortable; and she was really enjoying the feeling of his strong arms around her, just like she always does. She always enjoys the feeling of his arms around her, as it makes her feel so loved and happy (something that Matt knows). And right now, that's what she needs; as they take some time alone, without the boys to grieve their unborn son. But that was not all she needed right now, as she also needed something else from the man she loves, and that would be a kiss from him. She wanted to feel his lips on hers, which was something that Matt was more than ready to do for the woman he loves. Just holding Gabby close to him, Matt smiled as he kissed her back again and put his hands on her stomach; at the same time, Gabby moved her hands to his and smiled as they both cuddled up to each other. "Hi." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said hi to him, glad that the silence was finally broken.
"I'm glad that you broke the silence, as I was starting to wonder whether I was going to have to do it for us." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, well aware that was the case; well, it was the case. But now that the silence is broken, it no longer needs to be done. Rather, she can just roll over in his arms and get close to him. "So, you made breakfast?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she asked him whether he made breakfast, as he most certainly did make breakfast. "Yes, I did. It's on my side table if you want to eat." Shaking her head, Gabby just got close to the man she loves; wrapping her arms around his waist, Gabby cuddled up to him as that was what she wanted right now. She just wanted to hold the man she loves more than anything in the entire world in her arms, and she wanted to make sure that he knew just how much she truly loves him. "Right now, this is what I want. I want to hold you close to me." Matt agreed with Gabby as she mentioned that she wants him to hold her close. "I know, but what do you say we eat?"
Gabby looked up at Matt as he said that, because she could tell that there was a reason he was requesting for her to eat. "And why's that?" Matt smirked. "The faster we eat, the faster I can be done going downstairs for a while." Realizing that he does have to bring the plates downstairs once they were done eating, Gabby agreed as that was something that she wanted. She wanted him to be done going downstairs for a while, as it would mean that they can just hold each other close and relax. "I love that idea." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, smiling as he proceeded to lean in and kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "Listen, I'm going to sit up. Then, I'll get out plates; and we can eat." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, letting him go so that he could do all that for the both of them. After all, what's better than the two of them enjoying breakfast in bed together.
Sitting up in bed together shortly after Matt grabbed both of their plates; Gabby and Matt both smiled at each other as they sat together; just holding each other close, as they relax with each other. After all, that was something that they both wanted to do right now. They wanted to eat, and they also wanted to hold each other close; so, what better way to get all they want than to do it? So, that's exactly what they're in the midst of doing right now; sitting up in bed, as they enjoy a nice breakfast with each other. "So, you're the one that made this breakfast?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she asked him whether he was the one that made their breakfast for them. "Who do you think made the breakfast?" Turning her head, Gabby smiled at Matt. "My mom?" Matt shook his head. "No. But speaking of your mom, she sends her best; and she wants you to know that she sends her love to you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I also asked her to call my mom, so that she can spend time with the boys today."
Gabby agreed with Matt as he mentioned that he asked her to call his mom, that way she can spend time with the boys; after all, that was something that they both wanted for the boys. They wanted them to know both of their grandmothers, and they also wanted to give Nancy the experience that she never got to have with Violet; and someday, she's going to get that all over again when they have the girls. "I'm glad that she's with us, and that she's going to be with us from the start when we have the girls." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case; after all, he was thinking the same way. "I'm glad that we're going to have that too." Smiling at her husband as she wrapped her arm around his back, Gabby smiled as she turned her head and then moved her hand to his chest; after which, she decided to get close to him and moved her hand to his face. Turning his face so that he was looking at her, Gabby smiled as she stared into Matt's eyes. Smiling as she did that, Matt bent down and kissed the woman he loves softly.
Just taking things nice and slow with the most beautiful woman in the entire world, Matt smirked as this really is just what they need to do today; they need to hold each other close, as they relax and concentrate on making each other feel better. "How are you feeling right now?" Gabby smiled as Matt asked her how she was feeling right now, as she was feeling quite good. "I'm feeling content to tell you the truth, and just glad that we have this time with each other to grieve." Matt agreed with Gabby as she told him that, as he felt the same way; he was glad that they were going to get some time together, to do exactly what they need to do with each other. And that would be grieve, and just take some time to themselves. "Me too." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before smirking as she leaned up and kissed him again. "Listen, let's just have breakfast; then I want to share a kiss with you. It'll make me feel better." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. "I have no doubt in my mind that it most definitely will."
