Hi Readers: Sorry for the delay in getting this chapter out to you guys, just got a bit distracted when it came to what I was doing. However, I want to let you know that I'm back, and I'm ready to write some more for you guys; but first, I want to let you guys know about something that's going on in my life. I want to let you all know that there's a reason why I am writing so much right now, and that's due to the fact that I am unemployed for the moment. And right now, I am still (actively) looking for a job; so, that's why there are times where I can't update as much. But now that I did a bit of job hunting, I hope that I can now give you guys a few more chapters in the last five-and-a-half hours (minus a supper break) that I have before I need to get off. Thanks for reading and enjoy.
Also, quick note: If any of you readers have any requests for more information or have questions about the story; then feel free to comment or send me a message…as I'm certain that you aren't the only one who has that question, and I can address it in my chapters. Thanks again for reading my story, and I hope that you guys continue to enjoy the stuff that I'm writing for you guys.
One last reminder: I decided to change Matt's mom's last name earlier in the story, as she no longer wanted to be tied to her abusive ex-husband Gregory Casey (Matt and Christie's dad); so, she decided to take the name Nancy Mathies. Mathies is a created family name, which is a combination of her children's names. Matthew and Christie, or Mathies. Thanks again for reading. Enjoy readers.
Chapter One Hundred and Eighty-One
Post-Breakfast Comfort Cuddles
The breakfast that Matt and Gabby just enjoyed with each other was absolutely delicious, and exactly what they needed this morning; that was the compliment that Matt gave to his mother-in-law this morning, while he was bringing the plates downstairs so that they could be washed. And while he was originally going to wash them, Camila told him that he shouldn't bother; and that was due to the fact that she was going to do them, since he had more important things to do. Important things, that are not in the kitchen; rather, they're upstairs in his bedroom. And we all know what Camila is talking about when she said that, as she's talking about Gabby; who's still hurting from the loss of their third son, not that she can be judged for that. Of course, the mother is hurting, as she wants to have children; nobody could ever fault her for that, nor could they say that she can't take the time she needs to mourn for said child. Rather, she can take all the time she needs; just so that she can make sure that she's okay, with the help of her loving husband.
That's his job after all, to help (and love) his wife through the good times; as well as the bad times, which this time most certainly is. While they have gone through it before, that doesn't mean that this isn't another one of those hard times; it's a tragic time, where they are taking time with each other to mourn the loss of another one of their children. And that's something to no parent wants to do, even if their child hadn't been born yet; to them, they were already born in their hearts. While they may not have held him yet, they still loved him more than anything in the entire world; and that's all it really takes to make someone feel like they need to mourn a loss, even though they never met the person. If you feel like you've already made a connection with said person, including an unborn child; then you have the right to mourn them, and that's exactly what the couple here are going to do. They're going to hold each other, as they mourn the loss of their son Jackson; the son that they'll never get to meet but will still love in their hearts forever.
And they're going to make a legacy for him, even though nobody will ever get a chance to meet him; and that legacy will be through the use of the name that they were going to give him, Jackson David Casey. They are going to use that name, as the name that they're going to give their foundation; their memorial foundation, which is going to do a lot of good in the world. Whether that be for health, or for something else; with their wealth, as well as Gabby's willpower…something good will come out of this tragic loss, because they're going to change the world with the charity that they're going to create in Jackson's honor; but first, they need to figure out what the charity is going to be about, right after they take some more time to mourn. And that mourning process is ongoing, as Matt and Gabby prepare to hold each other close in bed once again; as that's what the couple need to do today, hold each other close as they relax in bed with each other…especially with their anniversary a few days away, Gabby wants to be (somewhat) happy for that.
Sure, will she be as happy as she was last year as they celebrated their anniversary? Of course not, because they're in mourning right now; but, she's going to try her best to enjoy their anniversary. They both are, and they are just going to take it easy with each other. That's how they're going to celebrate their anniversary this year, by holding each other close and mourning Jackson. But holding each other close requires them to be in bed together, which they are not at the moment; and that's due to the fact that Matt is just finishing up with coming upstairs from the kitchen (where he brought the plates down) and closing the door behind him. And that action, Matt closing the door behind him; well, that was the action that caused Gabby to realize that her husband was now back in their room. More specifically, her shirtless, boxer-clad husband was back in their room. Locking the door behind him, Matt had yet to notice that Gabby was looking at him as he made his way over to his dresser; where he plans on doing something for his wife, which she'll love.
Okay, maybe note love; more like appreciate, as she won't be all stinky. Rather, he'll smell like the Calvin Klein cologne that she loves, as he was about to put some of it (along with some deodorant) on this morning; ahead of him joining her in bed, so that they can hold each other close and cuddle. But before Matt could surprise Gabby with him wearing this cologne (he hasn't told her that he was going to, nor did she ask him to put some cologne on), she ended up turning in bed and speaking to him as she just saw him take off his shirt and set it down on top of his dresser (which just so happens to be where all of his colognes are kept). So, Gabby already knew by where Matt was; that he was going to be putting some cologne on, and she wanted a specific cologne. "Can you put some of the Armani cologne on?" Turning to face his wife prior to grabbing the CK cologne, Matt snickered a bit. "Seriously? You only notice that I'm in the room, right when I'm about to put some CK cologne on?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, smiling at her husband.
"Because I knew that you'd be back soon, and I just waited for you to pick the wrong cologne." Matt laughed as he heard gabby say that, before proceeding to set the cologne that she didn't want him to put on down; after which, he proceeded to grab the Armani cologne (as requested) so that he could put some of it on him today. After all, what's better that the smell of him wearing the cologne that his wife wants him to wear. Putting a few squirts of cologne on, Matt just smiled at his wife as he made sure that she saw that this was the cologne that he was going to be wearing today; and every day, until she feels better. "So, I just checked on the boys and I made sure that everything is okay down there before I came back up; and our moms said that everything is taken care of." Gabby was a bit taken aback when Matt said the word moms, as in plural; that was, before she remembered that he asked her mom to invite his mom over to help with the boys. "I can only assume that your mom is here?" Matt nodded and was about to answer verbally.
That was, until someone else did so for him. "Yes, I'm here dear." Turning her head towards the direction where she heard the voice coming from, Gabby smiled as she saw her mother-in-law standing at the door to their room; before realizing something, with regards to her husband (which prompted her to turn her head back towards him). "Matt." Catching up to speed, Matt realized what Gabby was trying to tell him, which was that she soon put his towel on, which he promptly did (as his mother as here). "Shit mom, you should've asked me to come up." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, taking a breath. "I can go if…" Matt shook his head. "No, come in. Please." Nancy Mathies agreed with her son as he said that, before walking into his and Gabby's room. "Sorry, I just…" Snickering a bit, Matt smiled at his mom as he was well aware of what she wanted to do (ahead of spending time with the boys). "It's okay mom, I understand." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, before walking in so that she can hug him this morning.
Shortly after sharing a hug with his mother this morning, Matthew Casey smiled as he decided to make his way over to bed with Gabby; that way, he could sit with her as he held her close (while they also spoke to his mom). And while she was a bit hesitant at first to stay, Matt was able to convince her to say for a moment; as he knew that she wanted to talk to Gabby about how she's doing, as well as him (of course). He could see the concern for the both of them in her eyes, as it was a sight that he still has permanently burned into the back of his skull; it was the same exact face (and her eyes looked the same way) that she made on that night, the night that she killed Gregory Casey (as he was abusing them). But now, she was here with them; and that's all that mattered at the end of the day, and he was glad to have his mother in his life once more. And right now, he was glad that she was here as she was sharing some information that he didn't know. "But you guys are okay?" Gabby agreed with Matt. "We're going better." Matt agreed.
"We just need to take some time together, so that we can relax." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, well aware that was the case; especially after having spoken to Camila, who filled her in on how things have been recently. "Camila already filled me in, and I'm glad that you have someone here to help with the boys; I wish I had that when I had to go through my miscarriage." Matt sighed as he heard his mom say that, still shocked that he never knew that he was supposed to have a little brother. "I still can't believe that I was supposed to have a little brother." Nancy agreed with Matt as he said that, because that was the case. "Yes, it was tragic; and I just hate that he did that. I just wish the judge would've taken that into consideration, but that's in the past; and we're moving forward now. But back to the reason I'm here. I'm here to check in with Gabby." Gabby agreed with Nancy as she said that, well aware that was the case. "I'm doing better, just glad that I have Matt here by my side." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, smiling at her.
After which, he turned his head and kissed her forehead softly. "You'll always have me by your side, for the rest of your life Gabby; that's something that you never need to worry about, because I love you more than anything in the entire world." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, as he could truly see just how much he truly loves his wife. "I'm just glad that you guys are going to take time together, because that means you guys can feel better." Matt agreed wit his mother (again), as he felt the same way; this was exactly what he and Gabby both needed to do, and it was the entire reason why they were currently holding each other close in bed, rather than spending time with the boys. "I'm just glad that we have the two best mothers in the entire world, who are more than okay with spending some time with their grandsons; and that they love taking care of them, while I take care of my wife." Nancy Mathies couldn't help but agree with her son as he said that, smiling at him. "Have you spoken to Christie about it recently?" Matt nodded.
"I texted her after we got the news, and she sent her regards; and I believe I told you about that, right Gabby?" Trying to think as to whether or not her husband told her about his sister sending them the best, Gabby took a moment to reflect on things that they've spoken about recently; and unfortunately, that was not something that she remembered the two of them having a conversation about. "Unfortunately, I do not remember us ever having a conversation about that." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, understanding that would be the case. After all, their memories are all over the place as of late; and they can't remember all of the conversations that they have with each other, as a majority of them are not happy memories. So far, they have been related to the miscarriage, or Jackson. But right now, they are having a better conversation with his mother, which he appreciates, as it changes their minds…and it allows them to speak about something else, which they need to do from time to time for their health and sanity.
But still, there are times where the miscarriage creates this type of fog; that means that memories that they create in the aftermath of the news might now be remembered as easily, and this is one of them (obviously). But that's okay, because it's also related to the miscarriage; as it was somebody sending their thoughts and best wishes, in the aftermath of the tragic event. So, if Gabby doesn't remember the sentiment that was conveyed to her by somebody else; then that's okay, as it's completely understandable why that would be the case. As well, there's a reason behind her not remembering it; as it's due to the fact that she's been pretty spacy as of late, even with Matt. And that's why she might not remember who's already given their best wishes and sent their condolences to them, but he will remember them all for her; that way, she can just ask him whether they already heard from somebody…and so far, they've heard from pretty much everybody; and that most certainly includes Herrmann, who reminded him of (and resent) that video.
"Well, I understand why that's the case. There's a lot going on in your head right now." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, feeling him wrap his arm around her; at the same time, she cuddled up to him again and laid her head down on his shoulder. Meanwhile, Matt turned his head and kissed her forehead softly as a way to make her start feeling better, which might involve the two of them being alone again; so, he decided to ask her whether that was what she wanted (by whispering to her). "Do you want…" Nodding, Gabby just agreed with her husband; the wife already knowing exactly what he was about to ask her, which was whether she wanted to be alone with him. And the truth was, that's exactly what she wants right now; she wants to be alone with the man she loves more than anything in the entire world, so that they can just hold each other close and relax in bed with each other (while they grieve for their unborn daughter together). After all, that's the entire reason that they're taking this day alone right now.
While the visit from his mother was something that Matt wasn't expecting, and that he was happy about; he also knew that it couldn't last forever, not when Gabby needs him alone right now. She needs him to just concentrate all of his love and attention on her, as they grieve together; that was made clear to him, as she answered his question on the topic. And now that his mother was on her way downstairs to be with the boys, and their door was closed; that was exactly what they now had the ability to do, just relax in bed and hold each other close (as they originally planned on doing from the moment he came back upstairs from the kitchen). But hey, better late than never; as long as they just hold each other close, then that's all that matters at the end of the day. Because it means that they get a bunch of time to relax, and just hold each other close in bed this week; and hopefully, Matt doesn't have to work today…not that he wants to, as he would much rather concentrate on his wife. But if there was an emergency, he may have to.
Wait, why is he even thinking about this right now; rather, he should be praying that nothing happens…or, that somebody can take care of the company for him. Because that's what he needs right now, for someone to please make sure that everything goes okay; and he just hopes that somebody does that for him, as their friends all know that they would really appreciate not being disturbed as they grieve together right now. But like he just said, Matt doesn't want to think about work right now; he wants to concentrate on the beautiful woman in front of him, as he holds her in his arms as a way for them to grieve together. That's really going to help her, and he already knows that for a fact. But first, he just needs to get back in bed with her. "It was nice that your mom decided to come see us before she spent time with the boys." Smiling as he heard Gabby say that, Matt nodded. "Yeah, I had a feeling that she'd come see us at some point today." Gabby smiled as Matt said that, watching as he made his way back to their bed so that he can join her.
However, he didn't sit down next to her right away; rather, he sat down facing her so that he could check on her. "You okay?" Taking a breath, Gabby agreed with Matt as he asked her whether she was okay. "It's going to be a process." Matt agreed with Gabby as she mentioned that it would be a process, as he was well aware that was going to be the case; he's just glad that Gabby is open with him, and that they're relaxing right now. Reaching for her hand, Matt smiled as he looked at his beautiful wife. "I hope that you know that you can talk to me." Gabby agreed with Matt as he (once again) reminded her that she can talk to him, even though she knows that better than anybody in the entire world. "I know that baby, I promise." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, smiling as he was glad that they're on the same page when it comes to this; and almost everything right now, as that's what important. That he and Gabby are on the same page, and that they talk to each other to let each other know what they need from each other. "Joining me?"
Matt snickered as Gabby asked him whether he was joining her, because he most definitely was joining her in bed. "Believe me, there's nowhere I'd rather be; other than in bed with you right now, because I want to hold the most beautiful woman in the entire world in my arms." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, watching as he got up and then tugged his boxers up to adjust them. Meanwhile, she opened the covers again so that he could join her in bed. "I liked that sight; it was a nice tease." Matt laughed as Gabby said that, as that was not what he intended to happen. "That wasn't the plan originally." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case; but still, that didn't stop her from wanting to play with him. "Sure, because you don't want to tease me like I am with this lingerie." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before making his way to the top of their bed. He then proceeded to sit down in bed next to her, wrapping his arm around her (just like she always wants him to do when they're in bed together).
It's so comfortable, and it just makes her feel so relaxed; but Matt also does that naturally, simply because he's her husband (and the man she loves). "Okay, we both know that this isn't how we're going to hold each other in bed." Snickering, Matt agreed with Gabby as he knew that was the case; so, he went ahead and moved his arm away from her so that he can lay down in bed (just like he should've done in the first place). Slipping down in bed for Gabby, Matt smiled as he laid down on his back; after which, he looked up at his beautiful wife to invite her to lay down in his chest (which she most definitely wants to do). I mean, what wife wouldn't want to lay down on her loving husband's chest when they cuddle up to each other in bed? It's exactly what Gabby wants to do with Matt today, so she's going to do just that now that he's comfortable in bed. Slipping under the covers, Gabby smiled as she moved close to Matt and cuddled up to him (while also wrapping her arms around his torso as a way to hug him, while also laying down in bed with him).
I mean, that's what they both want after all; they want to hold each other close, and they just want to cuddle up to each other for the entire day. And that was just reinforced by the fact that Matt just put his hand on her back and started to stroke it with his thumb; and god, is that comfortable (he has to know that). "Oh, you know that I love that." Matt laughed as he heard Gabby say that, well aware that was the case. "Why do you think I do it for you? Just because you want me to do it?" Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before cuddling up to him and bending down so that she can kiss his chest softly. "You can do it for whatever reason you want. All I know is that it makes me happy." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as that's exactly what he wants. He wants to do whatever he can to make her happy; and if that's what this does, then he's going to keep doing it for a while. "So, this all we're going to be doing with each other today?" Taking a breath, Gabby put her hand on his chest. "Is that okay?" Turning his head, Matt smiled.
"Of course, it is baby. I was just making sure that you're okay with our plans." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before moving close to him; after which, she put her hand on his chest and looked at the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. Leaning in, she smirked as she went ahead and started to take things nice and slow with her loving husband. Moving his hand under the covers, Matt put his hand on her butt and then stroked it with his thumb. "I love you Gabby, and I hope you know that I'm here for you; as long as you need me, because you're my priority." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know Matt, and you have no idea just how much that means to me." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before turning his head and kissing the side of her head. I mean, what husband doesn't know how much him holding his wife in his arms means to her? "I know you appreciate it baby, and I promise that you can always have me hold you like this; for the rest of your life."
Moving his hand on top of the one that Gabby currently had on his chest, Matt smiled as he stroked the back of her hand with his thumb and turned his head; he then proceeded to press his lips to her forehead as they held each other close, which is exactly what they both want to do right now. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before moving closer to him,. She then leaned in and kissed him softly, until they were disturbed by Matt's phone dinging. "Who might that be?" Matt sighed as he went to reach over. "Text from Antonio." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "What is it?" Opening the text, Matt then proceeded to read it.
'At Jay and Alex's place, they want to know how Gabby is. Can I?'
Reading the text, Matt smiled as he decided to just unilaterally decide that he can tell Jay and Alex how Gabby is. I mean, it's not like Gabby wouldn't….okay, maybe he should ask her; that way, he doesn't get in trouble. "Antonio wants to know whether he can tell them how you are, he's at their place." Turning to look up at Matt, Gabby smiled and nodded. "Of course, he can, we're friends." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before turning his head and kissing her forehead. "Just making sure. I had a feeling that you'd say yes; but I wanted to ask before I sent the text." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case as she knows him better than anybody in the entire world. "Of course, baby. Now please, send the text…then we can take it easy." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, before going to send the text message that he needs to send; then they can cuddle up to each other.
'Go ahead and give them an update. They're our friends.'
