Chapter 1: The Railguns And Aces Of Tokiwidai

This isn't real, there is absolutely no way that any of this could be possibly real. At least, that was what was being processed through my mind a couple of hours ago. Despite having been changed into a female with long light blue hair, that went down to my lower back, only a few hours ago. And now being able to control electricity like I had been doing so for years. That still didn't change the fact that I was currently involved in a situation that I had only watched about in an anime.

This also didn't change the fact that I was wearing an all too familiar school uniform, and was standing next to someone, that quite frankly, had intimidated me a little bit when I had watched her in the anime. And to top it all off, I was her sister, and also the same level as her? It was then that I knew that although this was going to be fun, I would soon come to learn, that this was going to be one of the toughest and roughest things that I would ever wind up going through. But I digress, I am getting a little ahead of myself, let's wind the clock back to the beginning of how this all started shall we?

It was just another day in the real world for me, as I slept quietly in my bed. I had just finished watching the third episode of A Certain Scientific Railgun, and had gone to bed for the night. Unfortunately, after a bit of time had past I was so sound asleep, that I was not able to see the wormhole open up in my room, that wound up sucking me in. And this would be the start of an adventure that I would be forced to embark on, that I would have wished that I had stayed in bed for.

Darkness, I could only see darkness. However, as a few seconds ticked by, I managed to open my eyes. However, when I did, I would have wished that I had kept them shut. When I opened them, I found myself standing in an alley looking down. And moreover, I wasn't alone in that alley.

"Sis, you need to focus, we have a situation to deal with here!" a female voice came from in front of me.

It was at this point that I recognized that female voice, I quickly looked up and ahead of me, and boy was I a bit intimidated when I did. There, with a hand stretched out in a ready position, was none other then Mikoto Misaka of the anime A Certain Scientific Railgun. And what also looked like a bunch of thugs present in the alley with us. But this didn't make any sense at all, she was supposed to be a fictional character from a fictional show, right?.

It was also at this moment, that I then realized what Misaka had just said to me, 'Sis', why would she be calling me sis? I was a guy, wasn't I?

However, it was when I put a hand on my form to confirm this, that I was soon met with a shock.

I then looked down again briefly, but when I did, some strands of light blue hair fell into my field of view, which also made no sense, since that wasn't my original hair color. I then noticed that I was wearing an all too familiar school uniform. It was the Tokiwidai Middle School uniform.

It was then that I knew that I wasn't a guy anymore, and I was now a sister to the ace of Tokiwidai, the one who they nicknamed Railgun. Which ultimately meant that I possibly possessed the same esper abilities as she did, given us being sisters. Which possibly made me a Level 5 by default, but this event in the alley would not be enough prove that.

Wanting to first confirm my suspicions, as to whether or not I had the abilities of an electromaster like that of Misaka, I decided to try and concentrate. And sure enough, I was able to feel all of the electricity that was present in the air. But, this wasn't enough to confirm if I was in fact a level 5 esper or not. That was something that I would find out about a bit later.

It was then that I remembered that I had only started watching A Certain Scientific Railgun the night in which I somehow wound up in the actual world of the anime. How in the world was I going to get through anything past episode three, when I hadn't watched anything past that point.

It was then I realized something else, I was the sibling to the main character here. I cringed inwardly a little bit at that.

Seeing as how from the first three episodes I had watched of the anime, that Misaka tended to have a bit of a short fuse at times, but despite that, she was kind when she needed to be, and that was good enough for me.

But for now, I decided to push those thoughts and feelings to the side, and decided that both Misaka and I would deal with the events when they happened, despite me knowing nothing past the first seasons three episodes. I then looked back up again, and reached my hand out, mimicking Misaka's hand gesture exactly, and before I knew what was happening, electricity coursed through my hand. And in an instant, and a big flash of electricity, all of the thugs in the alley were on the ground, and were not able to get back up again. This, not surprisingly was met with an expression of total shock across my feminine face, I still could not believe that I was in this situation. Not to mention that I was a sister to the 3rd ranked esper in all of Academy City. It was at this point that a certain person happened onto the scene, and to be honest, it made my blood run a tad bit cold.

"Halt, In the name of Judgment, we have been alerted to your activities, come quietly or I'll be forced to..." However, Kuroko Shurai never finished her Judgment officer introduction once she saw Misaka and I in the alley.

"What happened here?" Kuroko asked.

"Oh, hey Kuroko" Misaka said as she turned to face her, electricity crackling right near her head.

"Sissy? And Faith, you're here too?" Kuroko asked, referring to both Misaka and I.

"I guess Faith is my name in this world, I guess I can get used to being called it over time" I thought to myself. Now, to be honest, I was not a fan of Kuroko Shurai in the anime, for obvious reasons, and this was no exception. However, as it appeared to me at the moment, she seemed to only have an interest in Misaka, like in the anime, and this was something that I was more then happy with. Given Kuroko's shall we say, perverted tendencies. However, that didn't mean that I couldn't still treat her as a friend, seeing as how I was clearly one to her already.

"I see you still don't skip a beat when it comes to being a Judgment officer, ey Kuroko?" I said flashing a quick smile. However, it wouldn't be made clear until later on, that Kuroko did not just have an interest for only Misaka, but for me as well, something that I would soon realize, would present its own set of problems while navigating the events of the series.

It was while we were standing by the vending machine in the park, that just like in episode one of the anime, Misaka kicked the vending machine, causing it to produce a drink from it. However, unlike Misaka had done, I picked this particular moment, before things quickly got out of hand, to get my drink the proper way, which involved actually using money to get my drink. However, this didn't stop the events of the bots arriving right after my drink had produced from the vending machine. And the bots arrived right after Kuroko teleported not just Misaka out of sight, and onto the overpass nearby, but me as well.

"You have got to be kidding me right now Kuroko, I was going to drink that you know..." I said to myself inwardly, obviously very annoyed and frustrated with what she had just done.

"Honestly, was that really necessary?" Kuroko asked, obviously referring to Misaka kicking the vending machine. It was then that I remembered something from the first episode of the first season, this was also the day that Tokiwidai was having their system scan, and if I had to make a bet, Misaka and I might possibly wind up with results that were perhaps the same, if not slightly different. But, that would become obvious during the system scan as to whether or not this was the case.

A short time later, at Tokiwidai, it was becoming more and more clear to me, that the anime really hadn't done this place proper justice. And there was one thing that was slightly different from the series regarding the, shall we say, sleeping arrangements, but that is something that we will get to later on. Anyway, it was while Kuroko Shirai was testing her teleportation abilities that one Mitsuko Kongo, decided to interject and sort of mock Kuroko. Man, Kongo really does love hearing herself talk doesn't she?

However, this was sort of cut short by a series of sonic boom sounds and a series of huge waves of water that seemed to be coming from the school's pool, effectively knocking Kongo on her ass. This was of course, as explained by Kuroko, being caused by the two aces of Tokiwidai, the two Railguns, who were currently being tested for their systems scan, by having the water of the pool be used as a buffer for their railguns, and to also more accurately test them. It was after Kuroko jokingly asked Kongo if she was prepared to get hit by one of our Railguns, that the smirk that had originally been on Kongo's face, was now replaced by a grunt of frustration. And if I must say regarding me and Misaka's system scan, it was going very well.

This was both exhilarating, terrifying, and also sort of a dream come true. Who knew that so much power could be released like this. The anime really didn't do this enough justice. These were the thoughts that went through my mind as I watched from the sidelines of the pool, as Misaka's Railgun shot through the pool at almost twice the speed of sound, whipping up water in its wake.

"Recording initial shot speed at 1,030 meters per second, rapid fire ability, 8 shots per minute, pattern grouping, 18.9 millimeters, overall rating, level 5" the announcer said. It was after Misaka had taken her turn and had laid the remaining coins in her hand, tossed them up in the air, and caught them in midair, that she turned her attention to me.

"Ok sis, it's your turn" she said, stepping away from the front of the pool. And to be honest, I was quite nervous. But despite feeling this way, I took several of the coins that were laying on the exam table near me. And once I had taken my position in front of the pool, and had placed the coin in between two of my fingers, exactly like Misaka had done, I concentrated, and then fired.

And to my surprise, a shot of the exact same furocity and speed shot out across the pool, whipping a good amount of water in its wake, this was then followed up by me repeating this process several more times.

"Recording initial shot speed at 1,030 meters per second, rapid fire ability, 8 shots per minute, pattern grouping, 18.9 millimeters, overall rating, level 5" the announcer said.

For a moment, I was shocked, but then I was relieved, and as I held one of the remaining coins between two of my fingers, while the remaining ones were clasped in the remainder of my fingers in a closed grip, I couldn't help but crack a small smile, which quickly changed to a slight frown, and then to a confident expression.

"Well, I guess it's official then isn't it? Misaka and I are both level 5's, I guess that means we are both bearing the same nickname then? Not to mention my spotty memory on what could possibly lay ahead for the both of us. Well, I guess that's the price one has to pay for being paired with the best of the best doesn't it?" I thought to myself, as I laid all of the coins in my hand, and then tossed them up and caught them in midair, just as Misaka had done before stepping away from the pool.

This was something that I was completely not used to at all. Apart from being a female at the same age as Misaka, I now had to learn to bathe like a female as well. This wasn't made any easier by Kuroko attempting to make an perverted advance on both Misaka and I. It was at this point that I came to realize, that unlike the anime, where Kuroko was not only interested in Misaka, she also had an interest in me.

However, like Misaka, I wasn't having any bit of it. However, I full knew that this was not the first time, and it certainly wouldn't be the last time that Kuroko would try something like this, and this only proceeded to irritate me further. But rather then dwell on that, I proceeded to remember that this was who she was, and treat her as the friend that she actually was, despite her very perverted tendencies. And like Misaka did in the anime, if she attempted something like this again, which I knew from the anime that she would, I could always zap some sense into her like Misaka tended to do.

It was now seeming like things were about to go off to the races very soon. And I knew, that as all three of us sat at the booth, that the event that was coming up, was going to set both Mikoto and I up for the next few episodes. Well, the first three that I was able to watch before I wound up here. However, I would never come to realize, that the event that was coming up, was actually what was going to set Misaka and I up not just for the next three episodes, but in fact the rest of the series.

"A fan of ours?" Misaka asked. "A girl from Judgment, she takes care of my back up at the 177th branch, she's a big supporter, she's always been asking to meet the two of you, even if it's only for a few minutes" Kuroko said.

After a bit of back and forth, and Kuroko saying that she had compiled a schedule for the four of us, it was at this point that Misaka went and took the book that had the schedule out of Kuroko's hands. Misaka then proceeded to read off what was on the schedule, and as she read off what was on there this met by a look of embarrassment by me for Kuroko's perverted antics. I already knew what was on her schedule having watched the anime, I just didn't want to look out of place in the situation.

It was at this point that two particular people happened by the window to the restaurant, at the exact moment that Kuroko decided to jump into Misaka's lap, after Misaka had read what was on the schedule, and after a quick conversation had occurred between the two of them.

These two people, were none other then Ruiko Saten and Kazari Uiharu. It was at this point that I realized that what was going on at this current moment was very embarrassing, not just for all four of them, but for me as well, seeing as how this had caught the attention of all of the other customers inside of the restaurant.

This was going to be a tough one to swallow. Although I knew how this event played out in the series, I was still very very nervous. I mean, this was a robbery that me and Misaka were going to be helping stop. And despite having the same powers as her, and being able to control them as much as her, I still wasn't entirely confident that I could live up to the reputation that Misaka would wind up having a the end of this event. But that sort of thing didn't matter to me at this current moment. What mattered right now was dealing with the task at hand. And once we had all sat down, and started eating our respective crepes, well everyone except three of us did. And this was largely since Kuroko was chasing after Misaka and I trying to get us to take a bite of her crepe. And it was no surprise that neither of us wanted to, I mean, who chooses anchovies as a topping anyway? However, it was while Misaka and I were offering Saten to take a bite of our crepes, that things started to kick off.

Without any sort of warning, the metal gates on one of the stores, that for some weird reason were down in the middle of the day, violently exploded outwards, creating a massive explosion, taking everyone in the area by surprise. This of course sprang both Kuroko and Uiharu into action. But as Kuroko adorned her Judgment officer sash, and as Misaka offered to help, only to be told to stay put by her. It was then that I went up to Misaka, put a hand on her shoulder and decided to speak up.

"Don't worry sis, we'll get our chance, you just wait" I said, flashing her a quick smile.

However, before Misaka could respond, three robbers ran out of the store, only to be stopped dead in their tracks by Kuroko. It was after Kuroko said her introduction, and after the robbers laughed at her, and one was dumb enough to charge at her, that Kuroko wound up teleporting him, and flipped him over, dropping him on the ground face up. She may be perverted, but can she disable someone or what? It was at this point, as Saten, Misaka and I watched from the sidelines, that Saten decided to speak up mentioning Kuroko and how she had just dispatched the robber.

"Well that's Kuroko for you" I said as I cracked a smirk. It was at this point however, that the smirk wound up leaving my face, as it was found out that one of the kids, that had been on a field trip in the area when the robbery had taken place, was nowhere to be seen. It was decided that Misaka and I would help look for him, and after some convincing from Saten, she wound up joining in as well. However, from what I remember from watching the anime, this would wind up doing more harm then good. It was while Misaka and I were searching the bus that had been used for the field trip, and Saten was searching the area around the bus, Saten wound up catching sight of one of the robbers snatching up a kid and taking him down the street towards a car. It was at this point, after trying to get me and Misaka's attention, that Saten decided to take it upon herself to pursue the robber and try and retrieve the kid. However, both Misaka and I wound up catching sight of the robber fighting with Saten for the kid, just in time to see him hit her. This, not surprisingly, angered Misaka, and to tell you the truth, seeing her in the anime this way, really didn't do the justice, of seeing it up close and personal.

"Sis!" she said, turning her attention to me as electricity crackled just beside her head.

"Y-yes sis?" I asked her, a bit frightened.

"You and I have a job to do, what do you say we go and do it?!" she asked in an agitated tone.

Not wanting to challenge someone like her, especially when she was in this sort of state and mood, I just nodded in response, and followed her off the bus, and down the street towards the robber, who had now gotten into the car, and had begun to drive away.

It was at that point that Misaka and I had made our way down the street, about halfway, and right into the path of the speeding car. It was at this point, that I knew exactly what to do next. And so, without having to skip a beat, I reached into my skirt pocket, pulled out one of the many coins that lay in there, to which Misaka did the same. As the car began to gain speed towards us, we both flipped our coins into the air, and once our respective coins managed to come back down again and hit our thumbs, we fired, each producing our respective Railguns.

And to tell you the truth, it was then that I realized, that as we both looked ahead, as the car flipped end over end through the air, and over our heads, with both of our arms as well as our hands that had fired our respective arcade coins still sparking a little with electricity, and the air around the both of us still astir with dust from our respective Railgun blasts. And the car crashing down again on the ground nose first. That, although the future and the events ahead looked rather unknown, I knew that with Mikoto and her friends by my side, things would at least be a little bit easier then if I were going at this alone.
