Chapter Two Hundred and Forty-Eight
Bella Grace and Sofia Marie Casey
The Casey Group (thecaseygroup): "The Chairman and CEO is proud to announce the birth of the newest heiresses to the Casey Family Company: Miss Bella Grace and Miss Sofia Marie Casey. Babies and mother are recuperating in the hospital. 12-09-19."
4 PM: Kapiolani-Tripler Army Medical Center
That was the message that Heather sent out on the official twitter page of the Casey Group, the message that led to a fleury of phone calls. Including the one that he was currently having with Chief Boden, as he stood in the bathroom of his and Gabby's hospital room. "Yeah, so it happened again." Boden agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I'm so sorry that's the case Matt, I hope you know that the entire firehouse feels the way." Matt agreed with Boden as he said that, well aware that was the case. "How's Gabby doing?" Matt sighed. "She's asleep right now, which is what she needs right now. Heck, I am going to need some sleep tonight; especially when I am so damn worried about all of this." Boden agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Just know that the firehouse is thinking of you." Matt agreed with Boden as he said that. "Speaking of that, can you do me a favor?" Boden agreed. "Of course, what is it Matt?" Matt sighed. "Can you call Severide and ask him and Stella not to come yet?"
Boden was confused as he heard Matt say that. "Is everything okay between you guys?" Matt sighed. "Gabby and Stella got into a fight ahead of her going into preterm labor." Boden understood right away why Matt said that now. "Matt, I got it. I will call them and talk to them for you guys. Just please, take it easy and relax." Matt sighed as he heard Boden say that. "Yeah, I hope I can. May I remind you that I have PTSD?" Boden sighed as he heard Matt say that. "Can I apologize again for not seeing the signs Matt? Had I known, I would've…" Matt just stopped Boden there. "Boden, it's okay. Things are okay now, and we just need to relax and take it easy. We have Matteo and Noah taken care of by our mothers…" Boden was shocked as he heard Matt say mothers. "Wait, they found your mom? I didn't see her at the vow renewal." Matt agreed. "Yeah, we found her in Chicago. But yeah, complicated. Now listen, I need to go. I just wanted to let you guys know in Chicago." Boden agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that's the case.
"Of course, Matt, I understand. And last time I checked, I called you." Matt then realized that, before taking a breath. "You know what, never mind. Just take a breath and take it easy Matt." Matt agreed with Boden as he said that, well aware that he needs to do that. "I just hate that we're in this position again; I'm not sure whether I can deal with this." Boden agreed with Matt. "Matt, rely on your friends and family who are there for you." Matt sighed. "Yeah, because I have my brother with me right now. I still feel like a failure. Did I tell you that Stella did this?" Boden agreed with Matt. "Yes, you told me that they got into a fight; and I am going to talk to them right after I talk to you, I promise." Matt agreed with Boden as he said that. "That's if Antonio didn't already talk to them." Boden then went to make a joke, trying to make Matt feel better. "Wow, the man who led your boys to…" Matt then stopped him. "Yeah, not in the mood Boden." Boden agreed with Matt as he said that. "Of course. Send my prayers to Gabby, and those of the entire firehouse."
Matt agreed with Boden as he said that, before going to hang up; after which, he heard Camila walk up to him. "Matt?" Turning his head when he heard Camila, Matt smiled. "Hey, sorry…" Camila shook her head as Matt apologized. "Hey, you have no reason to apologize. Who were you on the phone with?" Matt took a breath. "Chief Boden in Chicago, wanted to let them know." Camila agreed with Matt as he said that, watching as he got up; after which, he went to hug her. "Wait, how are the boys? Are they…" Camila then proceeded to put her hands on his cheeks. "Hey, the boys are okay. They're okay Matt. They're with your mom at the penthouse, I just have clothes for you here to get changed into if you want them." Matt agreed with Camila as she said that, before going to grab the bag from her. "Thanks, I appreciate that. But Gabby isn't awake yet, and Antonio is just taking…" That's when Antonio walked up. "Mom?" Turning around, Camila smiled as she looked at Antonio. "Glad that you went with them." Antonio agreed.
"I think Matt needed me to." Turning to look at Matt, Antonio smiled as he gave him Andy's leach. "Here, he's all good now." Matt agreed, before going to hug his brother-in-law. "Thanks." Camila then smiled as she looked at Matt. "How's Gabby doing?" Taking a breath, Matt just looked at her. "Not sure yet, we haven't really had a chance to talk about that. She isn't awake yet, and I am still trying to wrap my head around all of this. Last time, it was Antonio; this time, it was basically my sister-in-law." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that, before moving to rub his back. "I hope you know that we have everything under control." Matt agreed with Antonio as he said that. "And I hope you know that we have to have Christmas…" Camila just looked at Matt as he said that. "Hey, don't even think about that. Just think about Gabby and your girls." Matt agreed with Camila as she said that. "Now listen, I know you want to go in…but I need to let you know something. Gabby under no circumstances can sit up at the moment."
Camila looked at Matt as he said that. "Is it something that we need to be worried about?" Matt shook his head. "No, but they just had to do a bigger scar than last time; and she also just got permanent birth control done." Antonio then went to make a quick joke. "Not that she needs it right now." Turning his head, Matt looked at Antonio. "Do you want to see your nieces? Or would you rather I send you home, where you can take care of my sons for me?" Antonio gulped, before shaking his head. "Of course not, sorry Matt." Matt agreed with Antonio as he said that, ready to finally let them into the room so that they can meet the girls.
Walking into the room with Andy, Camila, and Antonio, Matt smiled as he looked at Gabby as she laid down in their bed; his beautiful wife being fast asleep at the moment, just taking it easy in bed. Meanwhile, the girls were in the center of the room (just far enough so they can't hear all the beeping) so that they can sleep through the night. "Damn, this is a nice suite." Turning to look at Antonio, Matt smiled. "Yeah, I paid for it. I wanted Gabby to have the best if this happened again, so I reserved it. I just hate that I had to use it. Now, sink is over here." Bending down, Matt smiled as he went to take Andy's leach off. "Go lay down boy." Andy agreed, before rushing away so that he can go lay down on his bed; at the same time, Matt smiled as he made his way over to the sink. After which, he went to start washing his hands. "Sorry, I want to go check on the girls before I wake Gabby up." Camila agreed. "Of course, Matt, go ahead." Matt then went to wash his hands and smiled as he was ready to make sure that his hands were nice and clean, for his girls.
Once that was done, he went to grab the cloth to dry them. "Now, just stay here and be quiet. I need to do some things first." Antonio agreed. "By the way, I brought your laptop and stuff from the office." Matt sighed. "I don't need them. I'm going to take some time, and just concentrate on Gabby and the girls." Antonio agreed. "So, you want me…" Matt shook his head. "Leave them for now. However, I do have to say this. When we get out of here, I want the boys at the big house; because that's where we're going to stay for a while." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that, having a feeding that's the case. "Yeah, I thought that was going to be the case." Matt just smiled as he heard Antonio say that, before turning to look at his wife. "Listen, I am going to go wake Gabby up. How about you go look, but not touch the girls? Sorry, just a bit…" Antonio shook his head. "Hey, we both understand Matt. We know what you've dealt with in the past, and I promise that things are going to be okay. I just hope that you didn't…" Matt agreed.
"Natalie made sure that I didn't see anything." Camila was a bit confused as she heard Matt say that. "What are you…" Antonio then got close to his mother, before whispering in her ear. "Triplet son." Camila then realized that. "Right, never mind." Matt agreed with Camila as she said that, before looking at his wife. "Just give me a minute to tell her that you're here. She's tired and needs to sleep." Camila agreed. "I brought some supper for tonight and tomorrow." Matt agreed with Camila as she said that. "You can put them in the fridge, just let me go talk to Gabby for a minute." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that, before going to look at his mom. "Here, how about you let me help you put some of those meals that you made for Matt and Gabby in the fridge?" Camila agreed with her son as he said that, before walking away with him so that she can go put the things in the fridge; at the same time, Matt turned so that he could make his way towards Gabby. After all, that's where he needs to be right now. He needs to be with his wife, holding her close.
Walking up to Gabby's bed, Matt just looked at his beautiful wife as she started to stir. "Matt, Matt…" Walking up to his wife, Matt got concerned and just got close to her. "Hey, take a breath and relax. I'm right here. Right here baby." Starting to come to, Gabby took a breath and just started to look around; after which, she noticed that she was in the hospital. "No, it happened again." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Hey, that's okay baby, it's all okay. Everything's okay, because we're here with each other; and that's all that matters at the end of the day, especially since the girls are okay." Gabby took a breath as she heard Matt say that, a bit nervous as she looked at him, which is something that Matt could tell. "Do you want me to get in bed and hold you close baby?" Gabby nodded a bit worried right now, and she just feels like she needs to be here right now. And if this is where he needs to be, then he's going to be holding the woman he loves close to him. So, he went ahead and climbed into their bed.
Moving close to her as soon as he did that, Matt wrapped his arm around his beautiful wife and then cuddled up to her; after the same time, Gabby leaned against Matt and just took a breath. Meanwhile, Matt proceeded to grab her hand and held her close to him right now. After all, that's exactly what Gabby wants and needs from him. She wants and needs him to hold her close. And she also needs him to give her sweet kisses whenever he can. "It happened again." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "But we were prepared for it this time, because I could tell that it was going to happen. We knew what to do, and everything went great." Gabby took a breath, and agreed with Matt as he said that, just cuddling up to the man of her dreams as she tried to relax as much as she could; meanwhile, Matt grabbed her hand and intertwined their fingers while feeling her lay her head down on his chest. After which, he bent down and kissed her forehead softly. "I'm done Matt." Looking down at Gabby, Matt agreed with his wife.
"And I already made sure that you can't get pregnant ever again, because they already did the surgery…and I plan on getting the surgery just to be safe. But right now, we need to breathe; okay? We need to take it easy, and we need to concentrate on what's important right now. And that's that you, Bella, and Sofia are all okay; you're all okay, and you're here with me now." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. She then took a breath and put her hand on his chest. "And we're safe, right?" Matt already knew what she meant by that, and he could also tell that Gabby remembered what happened. "You remember, don't you?" Gabby sighed as she looked down. "Sorry, I…" Matt just understood, before pressing his lips to her forehead as they both held each other close. "It's okay baby, I promise. Everything is okay, and everything will be okay." And those were the only words that Andy needed to hear to know that he needed to do something, he needed to jump onto Gabby's bed so that he could give her a hand.
Getting close to Gabby just like she needs today, Andy laid down right next to her before putting his head on her leg; after which, Gabby put her hand on his head and just went to rub it. "I think I'm stealing your service dog for a while." Turning his head, Matt agreed with Gabby as she told him that; after all, he wants her to do whatever she can to relax. "It's okay baby. I mean it when I say that too, because I want you to do whatever you can relax both for your sake; and for the sake of our daughters." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before laying her head down on his heart. "Thanks right, we have daughters now." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before bending down so that he could kiss her forehead softly. "Yes, we do have daughters now; and I am so glad that's the case, because you give me amazing children baby." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, until she heard her brother just have to make a comment. "Bleh." Turning her head, Gabby just looked at her brother. "You know, you have no need to be here."
Let's just say that Gabby's mom was not happy to hear that. "Gabriela!" Gabby took a breath as she cuddled up to Matt some more. "Hey, take a breath and relax baby, it's all okay; I promise that everything's okay, and that you can relax." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "I had the surgery right?" While Matt was about to say yes, it was actually Natalie who came in to answer the question. "Yes, I made sure to do the operation Gabby." Turning her head, Gabby smiled as she looked at her friend. "Natalie." Walking over to their bed, Natalie smiled. "I swear, you guys just couldn't give me a break." Laughing as she heard Natalie say that, Gabby just smiled as she was happy that she was the one who helped her give birth to the girls. "I'm just glad that I was there to help." Matt agreed with Natalie as she said that, before looking at Gabby. "Gabby, can I get up for a minute? I'd like to hug our friend." Gabby agreed. "Go ahead baby." Matt agreed, watching as Gabby moved away so that he could get up; after which, he walked up to Natalie.
Doing the same, Natalie smiled as she proceeded to hug her friend. "Hey, I'm just glad that I was here to help." Matt agreed. "Still, it felt like it was exactly like what we needed. Now, I know that you're not going to be here the entire time but…" Looking at Matt, Natalie smiled. "I'm going to convince Will to transfer to the NICU for me." Gabby agreed with Natalie as she said that. "Wow, I hope you can do that. But just make it clear to your husband that he isn't to talk…" Turning his head, Matt looked at his wife. "Gabby, I am not doing that. Right now, I am your husband; and I am the girls' father." That's when Antonio made his way over to Gabby. "I'm just sorry that this happened to you again Gabby." Gabby agreed with Antonio as he said that, before watching as he bent down to hug her. "Not by you this time." Antonio agreed. "Believe me, I know I would be out of a job if I did this to you again." Matt laughed as he heard Antonio say that. "And you could've paid for Eva to go to college yourself." Antonio agreed with Matt, smiling.
After which, Matt just looked at Gabby as she hugged Antonio. "How are you feeling Gabby?" Taking a breath, Gabby just looked at her brother. "I wished I could say that I was completely okay." Antonio understood that she wasn't okay. "Well, I was just coming to say hi quickly." Camila agreed with Antonio as he said that. "Same here. Now, we're going to take care of the boys while you guys are in here." Matt agreed, before turning to look at Gabby. "And I am going to stay here the entire time." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before reaching up for him; at the same time, Matt grabbed her hand and smiled as he bent down so that he could kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. Doing just that, Matt smiled as he took things nice and slow with the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "Forever." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know that baby, and you have no need to prove that to me." Matt agreed with his wife, smiling as he knew that was the case.
After which, he looked at her family. "Uhm…do you guys want to sit down?" However, Natalie didn't think that was a good idea. "Actually Matt, the truth is…I was a bit hesitant to even let your family in in the first place, especially after hearing what happened in the first place. And I'm still worried, as Gabby's BP needs to come down; especially when this happened just a few months ago, and I want her to rest some more." Turning to look at Gabby's mom and brother, Natalie sighed. "I'm sorry that I am saying this. I just…" Matt then looked at Natalie. "Hey, it's okay Natalie. You just want what's best for Gabby." He then turned his head and looked at his wife. "Right Gabby?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before sighing. "Anyways, I'm not sure if I want to be around other people right now." Turning his head, Matt proceeded to kiss her forehead softly. "Baby, what's going on?" Gabby sighed as she looked at Matt before grabbing his hand. "I had a bad feeling about today." Looking at his wife as she said that, Matt took a breath.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Gabby bit her lip and sighed, before nodding. After which, Matt looked at his -in-laws. "Guys, I'm sorry but…" Camila and Antonio both stopped Matt from saying anything, as they both understood. "The truth is, I only expected to be here for a minute." Matt agreed with Camila as she said that. "Thanks guys. Now, go take care of our boys." Antonio agreed. "I'll set the cribs back up in your room for you, okay?" Matt agreed with Antonio as he said that. "Actually, I need to give you something then. Gabby…" Gabby agreed with Matt, letting him get up; doing just that, Matt walked over to his bags that he already got from his sister (who already came an hour ago). He then went to open it before going to find their house keys. After which, he walked over to Antonio and Camila. "Here are the keys to the big house. I already told the security that you guys will be bringing the boys there." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, as she liked that idea. "That sounds like a good idea, get them out of the office."
Matt agreed with his beautiful wife as she said that, before giving the keys to Camila. "You can both stay there, and maybe even get our room set up for us? Move the cribs from the penthouse to the big house? Me and Gabby already agreed that we're going to start there with the girls, away from the office." Turning his head, Matt just looked at his wife as he wanted her to agree to that, which is something that she did agree to, simply because she doesn't want to be anywhere near the office right now. "I agree with Matt, because I don't want to be around the office right now." Antonio just looked at his sister. "And you didn't…" Gabby just glared at her brother, not wanting to be questioned right now; so, she pointed to the door to her room to get him out. "Leave." Antonio agreed with Gabby as she said that, before going to do just that as he doesn't want to make her mad. "C'mon mom, let's go move the boys to the big house." Camila agreed with Antonio, before walking out so that they can go take care of Matteo and Noah for Matt and Gabby.
Walking back over to his and Gabby's bed just as soon as Antonio and Camila were gone this afternoon, Matt smiled as he looked at Gabby as he could tell that she was still tired. Or was she just comfortable? Who knows. All Matt knew, was that he wanted to talk to both her and Natalie as they stood there together. "So, how's she looking Natalie?" Looking at her patient, Natalie smiled as she thought that Gabby was looking quite good already. "I think I can safely say that Gabby is looking quite good, which is something that I'm really happy about; especially since this was the last thing that I wanted for you Gabby." Matt agreed with Natalie as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Hey, at least we got one of the best doctors in the entire world to help us out." Natalie agreed with Matt as he said that, before watching as he walked back over to the girls. "Listen, I am just going to do this quickly. Gabby, I need to check on your stitches." Gabby agreed with Natalie as she said that, before watching as she pulled up her shirt.
She then went ahead and looked at the stitches that were put on her body, stitches that Gabby didn't like looking at; which made Matt concerned, as she should want to look at them. "Hey, is everything okay baby?" Turning her head, Gabby then went to deny that anything was wrong. "Yeah, everything's great." Seeing that his wife was lying, Matt finished checking on the girls so that he could walk over to her; after all, they both know that they can't lie to each other…especially not when they need to be honest with each other during their time of need. They need to take it easy, and they need to relax during their entire hospital stay, especially if Gabby wants to see the boys. And as much as he hates doing this to Gabby, he is going to mean it when he says that; they aren't going to bring the boys here, unless Gabby is cleared to spend time with them. And that's going to start right now, as Matt sat down next to his beautiful wife. "Gabby, I hope you mean that; because I want you to be honest with me, if you want to see the boys."
Gabby took a breath as she heard Matt say that. "And I mean it, because I am not bringing the boys here until you're cleared by the doctors a bit more. They're going to want to jump on you, and we can't have that. So as much as you…" Gabby just agreed, before grabbing Matt's hand. "Take a breath and relax baby, I understand." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before moving to sit down with his beautiful wife; at the same time, Natalie just checked on her stitches. "I think I can say that everything is okay, and that you can just take it easy. Just remember that I mean it when I say that, you need to take it easy for a while." Matt agreed with Natalie as she said that, before taking a breath. "Then can we put a 48-hour lock on visitors, with the exception of family? I want Gabby to get at least 48-hours of rest time before we bring anybody in…especially since this is her second time giving birth this way." Turning her head, Gabby added on. "My second, and last time giving birth this way." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that.
"Hey, I know that Gabby. You have nothing to worry about when it comes to me wanting another baby with you. And we're going to talk about that when we're in bed, and alone." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before looking at what he was wearing. "And yes, I am staying in comfortable shorts for now. Maybe later I can get changed." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before smiling at him. Meanwhile, Natalie turned to look at Matt. "Do you want me to close the door between your room and the living room?" Matt shook his head. "Just the hospital door. I set Andy up out there with his water and everything, and I also plan on making him sleep in there. He can run in if he hears anything." Natalie agreed with Matt as he said that, clearly able to see that he had everything set up the way he wants it. "Well then, I'll let you guys relax now." Matt agreed with Natalie as she said that, before going to hug her. "Thanks again Natalie." Natalie agreed as she proceeded to hug her friend. "I hope you guys feel better soon." Matt agreed with Natalie.
After which, he let her go so that she can leave; and so that he can turn around and look at the love of his life. After which, he made his way over to her so that he could give her a sweet kiss (and climb into bed with her). And he was going to start with the kiss. Sitting down next to his girl, Matt smiled as he went to grab her hand and looked at his beautiful wife; at the same time, Gabby grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers. "You were a rockstar today." Gabby looked up a Matt as he said that. "I was?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she asked him that, before bending down and proceeding to kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "You were." He then proceeded to sit up, and just looked down at Gabby. "And the girls are absolutely beautiful, you did an amazing job." Gabby agreed. "For the last time, right?" Matt agreed. "Yes, because we already did that. Gabby, we finally have our dream life. We have our four kids, and each other. I don't care how it happened, but we finally have our dream life."
Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, smiling at the most amazing man in the entire world. "I know. But listen, what do you say we just take it easy and relax?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that's exactly what Gabby needs to do right now. She needs to take it easy, and just relax with him by her side. "I promise that's exactly what we're going to do, and I'm going to be right here next to you the entire time." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before watching as he moved his hand to her neck; after which, Matt bent down and proceeded to kiss her once again. And let's just say that's exactly what Gabby wanted him to do right now. She wanted him to take things nice and slow with her, and just give her exactly what he's in the midst of giving her right now; he's kissing her with all the passion in the entire world, just like she always wants. "No more kids." Matt agreed with Gabby. "I promise, I'm getting my surgery while we're here." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before watching as he bent down and just hugged her.
And let's just say that Gabby really liked that feeling, because it's exactly what she wants (and needs) right now. "Okay, two things I need right now." Sitting up a bit, Matt looked at Gabby. "What's that?" Gabby smiled. "I want to see my girls in a picture, and I want you to climb into bed." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Well, I can do that for you right away." Bending down, Matt smiled as he kissed the woman he loves once more. "I love you Gabby." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "I love you too Matt. Now, picture and join me in bed." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before stealing one last kiss from the woman he loves; after which, he got up and walked over to the girls' cribs so that he can take a picture of them for his beautiful wife. The wife that he was going to hold in his arms, and just try and make feel better; even though he knows that isn't really possible. But at the end of the day, all that matters is that she's here with him; and that she's resting right now while she recuperates from giving birth.
