Hi Readers: Sorry for the delay in getting this chapter out to you guys, but I have been getting a bit distracted today. I was in the midst of writing this chapter, and then I got a phone call. And then I had to restart everything, because I couldn't figure out where I was. But now, I'm back and ready to just get this story back on track. But first, for the readers who started to enjoy the other story; I decided to cancel it due to the fact that I just didn't have the ideas for it. I hope you like this story though and are ready to go for more.

Chapter Two Hundred and Fifty-Seven
Hospital Day 3: Movies and Herrmann

Ah, the classic Hallmark Channel; Gabby's favorite movie channel, especially when it's Christmas time. And that was the entire reason behind why Matt and Gabby were currently watching the channel, so that they could just enjoy some classic Christmas movies with each other; some that feature quite some famous stars, including some child actors. "I still can't believe that she's still acting all these years later." Looking up at Matt as he said that, Gabby was a bit confused as to just whom she's referring to. "Which actor?" Matt snickered as Gabby asked him that. "The one that's married to the hockey star, Candace Cameron Bure; the wife of Valerie Bure." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "Yeah, she's a Hallmark Channel regular. She got her start on here." Matt just looked down at Gabby when she said that. "Seriously?" Looking up at her husband as he said that, Gabby was confused. "Seriously, what?" Matt just laughed. "Okay, please tell me you didn't just say that…because she did not get her start on the Hallmark Channel, you know that."

Gabby was a bit confused as her husband said that. "Seriously? Does DJ Tanner not come to your mind? Full House?" Gabby then realized that. "Shit, how did I forget that?" Matt snickered as he heard Gabby say that, before moving his hand to her back and stroking it with his thumb; after which, he turned his head and kissed her forehead softly. "Yeah, and now she's on Netflix." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "Right, Fuller House. I swear, I still can't believe that she's this old already." Matt was shocked. "Old? Who you calling old? She's three years older than me!" Gabby laughed as she heard Matt say that, before bending down and kissing his chest. "I'm seriously. She is not old, she's three years older than me." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before looking up into his eyes. "You have an old soul though. You are very mature for your years." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before bending down and kissing the woman he loves softly. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that. "I love you too."

Smiling as he heard Gabby say that, Matt couldn't help but feel pure joy at the moment. Joy that he was currently in the midst of holding his beautiful wife in his arms, as they cuddle up to each other in bed. "God, I am so glad that this is what we're in the midst of doing right now. Just holding each other close, as we cuddle up to one another in bed." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, as she felt the same way. "Especially when my hunk of a husband is just wearing his boxers for me." Looking down at his girl, Matt smirked due to the fact that he was happy about that too. Just the feeling of her in his arms makes him happy, especially when she kisses his chest. "Oh, now that feels good." Gabby snickered as she heard Matt say that, before laying her head down on his chest and just starting to listen to the sound of his heart beating. But unfortunately, that was not the only thing that she was listening to right now; as she just started to hear the sound of Matt's phone ringing, quite loudly might she add. "Can you please turn the ringer down?"

Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before turning his head and pressing his lips to her forehead softly. "Of course." Going to grab his phone, Matt smiled as he turned his ringtone down before also grabbing his AirPods; which he and Gabby were going to use to talk to someone if they call, because it's much easier for the both of them. But first, they need to see just who was calling; and that would be one Christopher Herrmann, a friend from back home. "Well, look who we have here." Laughing a bit as she heard Matt say that, Gabby looked up at him. "Are we going to answer the call?" Looking down at Gabby as she asked him whether they were going to answer the call, Matt smiled before bending down and proceeding to kiss the woman he loves. "I am leaving it up to you. Do you want to answer the call?" Gabby smiled as she heard Matt ask her whether she wants to answer the call, as she does. "I want him to send something down with Eva and Diego when they come for Christmas." Matt smirked and agreed with Gabby. "Molly's food?"

Gabby was a bit taken aback as she heard Matt say that, as she didn't expect for it to be so obvious that was what she wanted. "Am I really that predictable when it comes to what I want?" Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before kissing her forehead softly. "I know that you miss Molly's. But unfortunately, baby, I don't think food will last eight hours from Chicago to Hawaii." Gabby sighed as she heard Matt say that, as that most definitely is the truth. "I know, and that sucks" Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that. "Maybe he can send us recipes that your mom can make for us, and we can have homemade Molly's from your mom?" Gabby smiled as she heard her husband say that, as he truly is a smart man. "How is my husband so smart?" Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before bending down and kissing her softly; after which, he took things nice and slow with the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I love you too."

Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, before bending down and going to kiss her once more; in the process, he also missed Herrmann's call. "Baby, we're going to miss Herrmann's call." Matt snickered as he went ahead and set his phone and AirPods down on the bed, before moving his hand to Gabby's neck. "I don't care, I'm kissing my beautiful wife right now." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before moving her hand to his arm as they cuddled up to each other. And let's just say that Gabby was quite happy that this is what they're in the midst of doing right now, as her husband is a real turn on; but he's also somebody who might be overdoing it a bit too much with her, which is why he decided that he needs to do something else. "Okay, before we call him…I need to do something else, which means you need to get up and out of my lap." Gabby was confused as she heard Matt say that. "What is it baby?" Matt smiled at Gabby. "Can you just move out of my lap so that I can go do what I need to do?" Gabby agreed with Matt.

After which, she moved out of his lap (as he wanted). And once he was up, it looked like Matt was in a rush (to go to the bathroom). "Oh, you should've said something." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Text Herrmann and tell him that we're going to call him right back." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before going to grab his phone to do that. But first, she had to enter his passcode: 1206; and yes, if you are wondering if it's their wedding anniversary…then you most certainly are correct, because Gabby has the same code. Now, just to send Herrmann that text message. Opening the text messages, Gabby proceeded to hit new (as she didn't want to find his name); after which, she went ahead and typed in his name and hit his number. Good, is she glad that Matt kept all of their numbers from back home in his phone. But now, just to send a quick message to Herrmann so that he can know what's going on.

Text Message Thread:
Matt: Call you right back, getting settled. -Gabby
Herrmann: OK. This a bad time? Wrong phone?
Matt: No, I'm just using his phone right now. Just wait.
Herrmann: Oh. OK. Talk in a minute.

Walking out of the bathroom this morning, Matt smiled as he made his way over to his bags so that he could grab a shirt from his bags; however, he also thought about something else. And that was that they should probably be dressed. As much as he loves cuddling up to Gabby like this, he wants to be comfortable with her; plus, he's also getting a bit cold. And it seemed like Gabby already knew that as she looked at her loving husband. "Let me guess, you're starting to get a bit cold?" Taking a breath as Gabby asked him that, Matt nodded as that was exactly what he was thinking about; how he was starting to get cold, and he felt like he wanted to get dressed. "If I decided to put my sweats on, would you be mad?" Gabby shook her head as Matt asked her whether she'd be mad if he decided to put his sweats on. "Hey, of course not baby. In fact, I was starting to think we should be wearing them regardless." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, glad that she was feeling that way. After which, he proceeded to find them some sweats.

Starting with him he opened his bag and found himself some socks, so he sat down on the bench that he has next to his bag and proceeded to bend down so that he could put his socks on first; after all, that was always the part that took the longest. "I have to say, I love the sight of you bending down like that. Pretty sexy Mr. Casey." Looking up at his wife as he heard that, Matt shook his head as that was not what she needed to be thinking about right now. "Calm down Ms. Casey, you're on bed REST for a reason." Matt said, putting an emphasis on the word rest. After all, that was the specific part that Gabby needed to do the most right now after giving birth to Bella and Sofia. She needed to rest, and just take it easy for now. And thanks to him putting his sweats on, that was exactly what he was going to do; especially now that he was wearing his socks, as it meant he could put everything else on. Getting up, Matt proceeded to grab his pants before going to put them on. "So, what do you think we're going to talk to Herrmann about?"

Gabby shrugged. "Not sure. I might want to ask him again about premature babies." Matt sighed. "He said that Cindy never went into premature labor last time we gave birth prematurely with the boys, remember? She always gave birth late, which is why he was in such a shock when their last kid Kenny James came early." Gabby then remembered that. "Right. By the way, we are not going for a fifth kid." Matt laughed. "Last time I checked, we can't since you had the surgery." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, glad that was the case; after which, she watched as Matt grabbed his shirt and proceeded to tug it over his head so that he was finally dressed. "Promise me you stay like that for a while?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before making his way over to Gabby at their bed. After all, he knew that was exactly what Gabby wanted from him right now. She wants him to just wear his sweats and hold her in bed. "Hey, are you worried we're going to get too hormonal?" Gabby took a breath, before biting her lip and nodding.

Letting out a sigh, Matt proceeded to check whether or not Andy has some water. "Listen, I am going to go fill up his water bowl; then, I will come join you in bed so that I can hold you in my arms and we can relax." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "I'm going to text Herrmann and say we changed out mind." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that. "I think that's a good idea. We just need to relax and take it easy for now baby." Gabby agreed with her loving husband as he told her that, glad that they made this decision together; after all, what's better than this decision? Honestly, she doesn't think her life can get better than this; and that's simply due to the fact that she loves her husband more than anybody in the entire world, and she's glad that this is what they're going to do with each other. They're going to hold each other close, and they're going to make sure that they take it easy with each other for a while. And if that means Matt needs to wear sweats, then so be it. He's going to wear sweats and look great as he does so.

Walking out of the bathroom shortly after filing up Andy's water bowl, Matt smiled as he carried it back over to where his things were in their room; after which, he set it down and just smiled at his service dog. "There you go buddy, some fresh water to keep you cool." Snickering a bit as she tried to put her shorts on, Gabby looked at her husband. "Cute." Turning his head, Matt started to get worried when he noticed what Gabby was doing. "Hey, what are you doing baby? You're going to hurt yourself." Looking at the man she loves as he said that, Gabby agreed and stopped what she was doing; in the process, she dropped her shorts and let them fall onto the ground. Meanwhile, Matt made his way over to Gabby and crouched down to look into her eyes. "Hey, look at me baby." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before doing just that. "You can't do that to me Gabby, it worries me when you go that far. You need to relax, and you need to take it easy for your recovery." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case.

After which, she watched as Matt leaned in and proceeded to kiss her softly. "Gabby, please don't worry me like that again. Let me help you and let me take care of you baby. I mean it when I say that you need to remember that you're still healing." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know but…it's just hard a times to not be independent." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware of the fact that Gabby does like to be independent. "I know Gabby. I know that you like to be independent. And I truly do love that about you, how independent you are. But right now, you need to let me help you; that way, you won't get hurt. Because if you go too fast in trying to recover, then you'll just hurt yourself and we'll have to stay here longer; and we don't want that, right?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, as that most certainly is not something that she wants. She doesn't want to be here any longer than she has to, because she'd rather be with the boys and playing with them in the near future.

"This is for your health Gabby, and it's also for the girls' health. Because the girls are going to need you to be strong, and ready to take care of them when we all get released from the hospital. They want their mommy to be able to play with them and show them a bunch of love by giving them sweet kisses; they don't want you to be stuck in bed, when you want to be with your family. Right?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before moving her hand to his neck. "I swear, I am not worthy of your Matthew Casey." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, before leaning in and proceeding to kiss her softly. "No, it's the other way around. I'm not worthy of you, and I never want to hear you say that you're not worthy of my." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, falling more and more in love with this man whom she has the privilege of calling her husband more each and every day. "God, you really are good at that." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that. "And what would that be?" Gabby smiled at her dreamy husband, Matt Casey.

"The way you flirt with me like that." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Who said anything about flirting? I'm just stating the truth and telling you what I believe to be the truth." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, really now?" Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, before leaning in and kissing her softly. "Listen, how about you let me help you with your shorts? Then, I'll help you get in bed again so that we can call our friend." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "I still can't believe that we call Herrmann a friend, because he's so much older than us." Matt agreed. "Your brother is ten years older than me, and I consider him a friend." Gabby snickered as she heard Matt say that. "Touché." Matt laughed a bit as he heard Gabby say that, before moving to put her shorts on; after which, he got up once more and leaned in so that he could kiss the woman he loves once more. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that. "I love you too, and I'm ready to get back in bed."

Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as he feels the same way as her; so, he opened the covers and let Gabby get in bed ahead of him. After which, he proceeded to get in bed next to her and wrapped his arm around her; snuggling up to Matt not long afterwards, Gabby smiled as she wrapped her arms around his muscular torso and just cuddled up to him (while also laying her head down on his chest). Meanwhile, Matt turned his head and pressed his lips to Gabby's forehead, which most certainly is everything that Gabby wants right now. She wants to be held by the man of her dreams, and she wants to feel this happy with him; because that's how Matt makes her feel at the end of the day, happy. He makes he feel like the happiest woman in the entire world, and she feels so blessed to have Matt as her husband; the man she gets to love, and the father of her children. But now, it's time for him to kiss her once more ahead of them calling Herrmann back so that they can talk to him, which is exactly what he did, as he leaned down and kissed her.

Taking things nice and slow with the woman of his dreams, Matt smirked due to the fact that this is something that he's really enjoying; heck, that he always enjoys doing. And Gabby knows that, she knows that he loves to kiss her; and that means that she's always going to love kissing him. Anyways, not like he has anything better to do than kiss her right now. He can just do this all day if he wants, because it makes her extremely happy. "God, you are so damn sexy when you do this." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Gee, I wonder why that's the case." Gabby laughed a bit as she heard Matt say that, before laying her head down on his chest once more. After which, she watched as Matt grabbed his phone so that they can call Herrmann. "Let's give him a call now before we get too all over each other." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "AirPods please, don't want to wake up the kids." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before going to grab the pair of AirPods that they have here.

Opening the case, Matt smiled as he held them out for Gabby; that way, she can pick out the one that she wants. After which, she put it in her ear; meanwhile, Matt grabbed the other one and did the same prior to putting the case down on his side table. And let's just say that this is a nice feeling. His wife in his arms, as they both have AirPods in their ears. "We can probably listen to music like this afterwards." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, because they probably could. "Yeah, we probably could." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before grabbing his phone so that he could call Herrmann (while also making sure that the call was being routed through the AirPods as not to disturb the girls). And luckily for Matt, that was exactly where they were routed. But that also meant that they had to deal with Herrmann's loud voice. "Hey, if it isn't the new parents." Matt sighed. "And if it isn't the loudmouth, because last time I checked…we're on the phone with our daughters nearby Herrmann." Herrmann then realized that. "Right."

Snickering a bit as she heard that, Gabby went ahead and spoke to Herrmann. "It's okay Herrmann, we have our AirPods on." Matt just looked at Gabby as she said that. "Seriously? I would rather he not yell right into my ear." Herrmann agreed with Matt as he said that. "Ok. Calm down the two of you, just take a breather and remember that you guys have little girls over there who don't want to be woken up." Gabby groaned as she heard Herrmann say that. "Did you really just say that, when you yelled into my ears?" Herrmann agreed. "Hey, you have to respect your elders." Matt agreed. "And you still need to respect the ranks. I may be retired, but I am still a Captain in the CFD." Herrmann snickered. "Yeah, you're a retired Captain; I'm an active Captain." Gabby was a bit taken aback when she heard Herrmann say that. "Wait, are you a Captain now Herrmann?" Herrmann agreed. "I wanted the spot, because the other two officers left; not that I blame you. Cindy said that once the kids are all moved out, we're retiring to Hawaii." Matt snickered.

"Uh oh, then who's going to run the bar?" Herrmann then realized that. "Oh shit, the bar." Gabby laughed as she heard Herrmann say that. "Speaking of the bar, I want to let you k now that I am placing an order to go. I want to have some delivered through my nephew when he comes down for Christmas." Herrmann was shocked as he heard Gabby say that. "Are you crazy Gabby? That would be a waste of food! The food would go bad by the time it got there through LAX." Matt agreed with Herrmann as he said that. "Hey, at least you're not the crazy one for once." Gabby and Herrmann both took offence at that. "HEY!" Herrmann then said the same. "HEY!" Matt just looked at Gabby, getting nervous. "I love you." Tugging his lips down to hers, Gabby agreed with her husband as she took things slow with him. "I love you too. Now calm down as we're talking to a friend." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that.

After all, he's well aware of the fact that they're talking to a friend at the moment. "Oh, I'm well aware of the fact that we're talking to a friend right now." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before cuddling up to him as they both held each other close; meanwhile, Matt wrapped his arm around Gabby and just cuddled up to him while turning his head and kissing her forehead softly. "So, I heard a rumor that you aren't in a good place with Kelly? What's going on Matt?" Matt sighed as he heard Herrmann say that. "No comment." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "Herrmann, not the best topic to talk about please." Herrmann agreed with both of them when they said that, not wanting to question either of them when it came to whether it was a good idea for them to talk about their relationship status with Kelly. "Right, of course. Sorry about that Matt. But seriously, how are you guys doing there in the hospital?" Taking a breath, Gabby thought about it. "We're doing as good as we can, based on the situation."

Herrmann agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Well listen, that's why I called actually. And it's because I wanted to remind you guys of something." Matt and Gabby both agreed with Herrmann as he said that, before listening to him. "I want to remind you guys that you've been through a lot worse than this. And you've dealt with both of these scenarios before; but now, you're dealing with them at the same time. You're dealing with the loss of a child, while also have two premature twins in the NICU. I know they aren't the same, because this are different; you have less family there with you guys, and I know you're having problems with Kelly and Stella. But remember what I told you guys? I always told you guys that you're the ones who are going to make it, and you guys have made a beautiful life together; and you've also made a great business together. You've built this life together, you're in it together. Rely on each other, lean on each other…and remember, that you're not alone in this. Gabby, Matt's dealing with this just as hard as you are."

Turning his head, Matt agreed with Herrmann before kissing his beautiful wife's forehead. "And Matt, we all know you PTSD; and I am so sorry that we never caught it, before you left. Heck, I should've seen it; because I've seen it before, so you need to accept my apology. I know Boden did apologize, but I need to apologize too; and you can't flaw me for that, because I am not going to not apologize." Matt agreed with Herrmann as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I accept your apology Herrmann." Herrmann agreed with Matt as he said that. "Thanks Matt, it's been hanging over my head for a while. I mean, I worked side-by-side with you." Matt agreed with Herrmann as he said that. "But listen, I hope that you know that you can always call me if you need help when it comes to being a Captain." Herrmann laughed. "I have a feeling that you're going to be a great CEO, and an icon. Just remember where you came from Matthew." Matt agreed with Herrmann as he said that. "Oh, I will always remember that I come from Chicago."

Turning his head, Matt smiled as he looked at the woman he loves. "Especially since the life that I have now, all started in Chicago; because had I not lived there and worked at the firehouse, then I wouldn't have met the love of my life…and the mother of my beautiful children. The woman that made me a father." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before leaning in and proceeding to kiss the man of her dreams. "I love you so much." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, just smirking due to the fact that this is exactly what they both want right now. They want to hold each other close, and just relax in bed with each other. "Okay, calm down the two of you. Don't you think that I can hear you guys making out through the phone?" Matt laughed as he heard Herrmann say that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, calm down Herrmann. So, what are you guys doing at the firehouse? You decorate for Christmas yet?" Herrmann agreed. "Firehouse 51 has been chosen to represent the CFD in the 2019 Chicago Christmas Parade."

Gabby smiled as she heard Herrmann say that. "Congratulations to you guys, have fun. And I hope that we can see it sometime." Herrmann agreed. "You can watch it on YouTube." Matt laughed. "I know Herrmann, we watched it last year. Did you forget that we've been gone from the CFD for over a year now?" Herrmann was surprised when Matt said that. "Really?" Gabby agreed with Matt, before turning to look at the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "Yes, because we left right before October 2018. We went on that Road Trip, and then we came here, which is when we learned that we had money." Herrmann agreed. "You know, if you wanted to buy more stock in Molly's…." Gabby laughed. "Not happening Herrmann. If we can't enjoy it, then we aren't investing." Herrmann agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Yeah, that makes sense." Matt agreed with Herrmann as he said that, before turning to look at Gabby; after which, he kissed her forehead as they both held each other close.

"Are you okay? Or do you need to take a nap?" Gabby took a breath as Matt asked her whether she wants to take a nap. "I think I could take one, but I'm okay as we talk to Herrmann." Herrmann stopped Gabby as she said that. "Hey, Gabby. If you need to sleep, then I think we both know that you need to take it easy and just take a nap." Gabby agreed with Herrmann as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Well then, I think we both know what I should be doing right now." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before smiling at his beautiful wife. "Then listen Herrmann, say hi to everybody." Herrmann agreed with the both of them. "I promise, I will. And I promise to send you guys some more recipes." Gabby agreed. "Can you send them to Antonio? He can give them to my mom, and then she can make them for me and bring them here to the hospital." Herrmann agreed with Gabby as she said that, liking that idea. "Well, I will do that for you. Now, you both take it easy and just relax with your little girls there. Pictures someday."

Matt sighed as he heard Herrmann say that. "We aren't sharing pictures at the moment unfortunately Herrmann." Hearing that, Herrmann understood why right away. "Okay, I understand. I hope that everybody feels better." Gabby agreed with Herrmann when he said that. "Thanks Herrmann. Say hi to Cindy for us." Herrmann agreed, and just put the phone on speakerphone. "I just got home, but hi Gabby." Gabby laughed. "Hi Cindy, how are you?" Cindy laughed. "Good, but I'm going to have to steal Christopher away from you; because like I said in a text, I need help with the groceries." Turning his head, Herrmann sighed. "Cindy, I was on the phone with Matt and Gabby." Cindy agreed with Herrmann as he said that. "I understand that now, but I am going to have to steal him away from you guys now Matt and Gabby. I hope you guys feel better." Gabby agreed. "I promise, I will. Thanks again Cindy." Herrmann and Cindy then both hung up. At the same time, Matt turned his head and looked at the woman he loves more than anything.

"Do you want me to lay down? Then you can lay down on my chest." Gabby agreed with Matt as he asked her if she wanted him to lay down, because that most certainly is exactly what she wants him to do. "I'd love that." Laying down on Matt's chest as soon as she was comfortable, Gabby smiled as she wrapped her arms around him and held him close; at the same time, Matt wrapped his arms around Gabby as they both held each other close. Turning his head, Matt smiled as he kissed her forehead while they both held each other close. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt. "I love you too Matt, thanks for being such a great husband." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before wrapping his arms around her. After which, they both just cuddled up to each other as they relaxed in their hospital bed this morning.
