Hi Readers: What did you guys think of the last chapter that I wrote for you guys? Did you like the way I handled the first call between Gabby and Stella for a while? Well, I hope you did. Now, I am not going to waste time in writing this note; as I believe that this is going to be the only update that you guys are getting in this story, for now. And that's due to the fact that I want to concentrate on my other story for now. But at this moment, I want to continue this story. Hope you guys like where this story is going and continue to enjoy.
Chapter Two Hundred and Sixty-Seven
Lunch Time: The Secret is Out
He could already tell that Gabby was having a hard conversation, based solely on the stress that he heard in her voice as he approached their hospital suite this afternoon; and he could already tell the reason why that was the case, based solely on the name that he heard his wife say during the call. And that name was that of Ms. Stella Kidd (or is it Severide?) Honestly, Matt doesn't even know at this point what name his best friend's wife is using; whether she's using her marital name, or her maiden name. But at the moment, that doesn't matter to him; because he has more pressing matters to take care to, which would be his wife and making sure that she was okay. And that all started by asking her a simple a question, which he could only hope that she could answer for him.
"How hard was it to make that call to Stella?"
Turning her head as she heard Matt walk into their hospital suite, Gabby took a breath as she looked at Matt; well aware that she could easily be headed for another fight, as she made the phone call while he wasn't there. But still, she can only hope that her husband isn't mad that she did so. "Okay, I know what you're thinking." A bit perplexed by the statement that his wife just made, Matt proceeded to make his way over to the table that he and Gabby had at the end of their bed; that way, he can set their food down and get Andy all set up. He could take off his leach, and make sure that he can relax; after which, he would wash his hands and do something that he always likes to do whenever he gets a chance to do it. And that would be go check on his girls: Bella, and Sofia.
"Oh, so you can read minds now?"
Shaking her head as she heard Matt make a joke, Gabby sighed as she didn't really want to joke when this is a serious matter; especially when she knows that she shared some information with her best friend, information that the couple have yet to share with the rest of the board. "Yeah, we need to talk about this conversation." Matt was confused as he heard Gabby say that, quite confused as to just what they had to talk about; but at the same time, he was also confused…which led him to ask the following: "That bad?" The question being in reference to the conversation that she just had with her best friend, if she can call her that at the moment; and whether the call was so bad, that Gabby felt like she needed to talk to him a lot. "Because I can wait to get the lunch out."
Shaking her head as Matt mentioned that he can wait to take their lunch out, Gabby proceeded to shut that idea down due to the fact that she was hungry; and right now, she was going to eat. "All I can say is that we are not bringing the boys here today." Matt sighed as he heard Gabby say that, clearly able to see that something was really wrong right now; and that was why Matt decided that he was going to stop what he was doing and make his way over to his wife. Because as much as he wants to eat with her, he can see that she needs him at the moment; and that was why he needed to sit with her. He needed to sit down with the woman he loves, so that he can make sure that she knows just how much he truly loves her…and how much he wants her to be okay with all of this.
Because if there's one thing that Matt remembers from their first time around here in the NICU, it's that Gabby always needed that extra bit of comfort and support; and he can only suspect that's the same here in the hospital right now. So, he wants to make sure that he does the right thing and support his wife to the best of his abilities; because the last thing that he wants to do, is make her feel like she was going through this alone (which she will never do). They are in this together and will always be in this together; because he loves her, and he's her husband first. The company can fail for all he cares, but he will still be happy because he has Gabby and the kids. "Here, how about you move over a bit so that I can hold you in my arms? Then we can take a minute to talk before lunch."
Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, wanting that so bad; after all, she knew that he was going to want to know what happened on the call that she just had with Stella. And that may mean that she needs some comfort, which Matt is more than happy to give her; after all, he's her husband…and he loves her more than anything in the entire world. Even more than their girls, who are already his world (even though he's never held them); but that doesn't mean that he hasn't fallen in love with them, as he most certainly has. God, they are so beautiful, almost as beautiful as their mother, and the love of his life Gabriela. And that was why he was going to give Gabby what she needs right now, which would be comfort as him giving her comfort was going to allow him to figure out what's up.
"Okay, I know you want to eat. But, I think we both know what we need to do first."
Taking a breath after Matt stated that they both knew what they need to do first, Gabby just agreed as she did know what they need to do first; and that was talk. They needed to talk about what happened on the phone call, so that Matt didn't go crazy and wonder just what was going on between his wife and Stella right now. Because if there was on thing that Matt wanted, it was for Gabby to be honest with him; that way, he could support her and be there for her if she's ever having trouble. And right now, this could very likely be one of those times. She could very likely be having some trouble, and he wants to make sure that she always knows that he's here for her; now, and forever. "Okay, I am going to ask again. And I really hope that you can be honest and talk to me Gabby."
Taking a breath as she heard Matt tell her that, Gabby agreed with her husband as she knew that was exactly what she needed to do at the moment; she needed to be honest with him, and she needed to tell him what happened when Stella called her. And she needs to tell him the other thing too…the fact that Stella now knows that Christie is now a shareholder (owning 5% of the company), but that they've yet to announce it to the world; or to the board of directors for that matter, as they just haven't had the time to do so. First, it was due to the fact that Gabby's been a bit worried lately; and she just wanted to take it easy for the sake of her pregnancy, because she already lost one baby…and the last thing she wanted was to loose another one, one of their beautiful daughters over there.
But at the same time, they also wanted to try and spend as much time as they could with their boys; ahead of them becoming big brothers, which they are now. Matteo and Noah are now big brothers, whom have yet to meet their baby sisters; but they are going to meet them in due course, which is something that Gabby can't wait for. She can't wait to get her first pictures as a family of six, because it's exactly what she wants; but right now, that's not her biggest concern (or Matt's) right now. Rather, their biggest concern was for Gabby to answer the question that Matt posed to her when he first sat down with her; and her taking all the time in the world to answer his question was not doing her any favors, as it was making her husband worry (which is always extra bad as he has PTSD).
"Gabby, are you okay? Because if you need a bit of time to answer…"
Shaking her head as Matt asked her whether she needed a bit of time to answer, Gabby smiled as she proceeded to grab his hand and look into her eyes; after all, she didn't need time to answer. And that was due to the fact that she was just thinking happy thoughts, and she knows that she needs to tell Matt that; especially since he was thinking that she was having bad thoughts at the moment, even though he would never admit that was the case. But at the end of the day, Gabby knew that was the truth; simply because she can read her husband better than anybody, and you learn things over the years when you sleep with the same man for as long as she has. (After all, they have been together for six years now…and married for three years as of five days ago). And she can't believe it.
But still, that doesn't mean that she wants her husband to worry about her not being able to answer his question any longer. "No, I'm okay baby; I promise that I'm okay, and I was just thinking about other things." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, glad that was the case as he wrapped his arm around her some more; after which, he went ahead and intertwined their fingers to make sure that she knew that he was here for her right now…and that he would always be there for her, for however long she needed him to be here. "Okay, then what were you thinking about?" Gabby smiled as she looked at her husband. "Just how we need to take it easy for the sake of our family, and we don't need to worry too much." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as he thought the same thing.
So much so, that he decided to lean in and kiss her softly; taking things nice and slow with his girl, to show her that he loves her more than anything in the entire world. After all, that was the truth. Gabby is the love of his life, and he is extremely proud to call her his wife. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that he loves her, because she knows that it's the truth; she'll always know that it's the truth. "I know that baby, and I'll always know that; and part of you loving me, includes being honest with me." Matt just looked at his wife as she said that, a bit unaware of what she was currently talking about. "Okay, I am not trying to make you feel bad; but I am really confused as to what you're talking about, so can you please…" That's when Gabby dropped the truth on Matt.
"I know that Christie is a 5% Shareholder in the Company."
Taking a breath after his wife mentioned that she knows that his sister is now a 5% shareholder in the company, Matt took a breath due to the fact that he hates that he wasn't the one that told her himself; because he knows that he should have, but it just wasn't official yet. All the paperwork has yet to be signed, and he only wanted to tell her then; that way, she wouldn't have to worry about any stress that may come with negotiations. So much so, that he even asked his sister not to talk to Gabby about her becoming a shareholder; simply because he didn't want to put any stress on her, or the pregnancy. And Christie agreed completely, as she knew that it may cause a bit of stress; because it would be something that Gabby would want to talk about, when it's such a small thing.
But now, Gabby knew; and Matt could only hope that she isn't mad at him for not having told her himself, because he knew that he should have. At the same time, he couldn't help but wonder whether she was mad at him; so, that was something that he needed to establish, prior to them starting this conversation. If Gabby was mad at him, when they were not going to have this conversation; because the last thing he wants right now, is to have a yelling match with his wife when she's trying to recover. "Okay, I hate to even ask you this Gabby…but how did you find out?" Gabby smiled as she heard her husband say that. "Matt, the quarterly reports came out recently; and on the reports, it showed a new shareholder. That's how I found out." Matt took a breath as he looked at his wife.
"Okay, uhm…" Looking at her husband, Gabby could tell what was going on in his head right now; and that was him wondering whether she was mad over the fact that he kept this secret (of Christie being a shareholder in the company) from her. And the truth was, she wasn't, and she knew why, based on the last pregnancy. "Matt, take a breath and just look at me baby." Matt agreed with Gabby and did just that, while Gabby put her hand on the side of his face and leaned her forehead against his. "Take a breath, and listen to me; because I'm not mad, okay? I promise right now, I'm not mad at you." Matt took a breath as he heard Gabby say that, a bit shocked that she isn't mad at him. "Gabby, how can you not be mad at me when I kept this secret from you?" Gabby smiled.
"Because I know you and know your intentions. And your intentions are not of ill will but are instead of love; your love for me, and the worry that you had when it came to the pregnancy." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before going to grab her hand and intertwining their fingers; after which, he stared into Gabby's eyes and leaned in so that he could kiss the woman he loves softly. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, well aware that was the case. "And I love you Matt, and I hope that you always know that." Matt agreed with Gabby as she told him that, as he most certainly did know that she loves him; and he'll always know that she loves him. "Hey, there was never a doubt in my mind that you would always love me." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled.
"Listen, what do you say we eat? Then you can fill me in, and you can tell me when it happened and everything?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as that sounded like a reasonable plan. "And I can get comfortable afterwards." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, before smiling as she leaned in and kissed the man she loves softly. "Exactly." Matt smirked as he agreed with his wife, definitely ready to just take it easy and relax with her; just as soon as they finish lunch, and he gets changed once more.
Setting his clothes down on his bags shortly after getting undressed, Matt smiled as he turned his head and looked at the woman he loves; the woman who was currently in the midst of taking off her shirt for him, which was something that he most definitely does like the idea of. "Oh, so we're going to hold each other close like that?" Gabby smirked as she heard Matt ask her whether they were going to hold each other 'like that', as in without her wearing a shirt. "I mean, if you're okay with that." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby ask him whether he was okay with her now wearing a shirt, because he most definitely is. "Okay, I most certainly am okay with that." Gabby agreed wither her dreamy husband as he said that, before watching as he walked over to their girls to check on them.
After which, Matt looked down at both Bella and Sofia. "I still think that we made the right choice when it came to the names we chose for the girls, because I love the names Bella and Sofia." Gabby agreed with Matt as he mentioned that he thinks that they made the right choice for their girls' names, because she feels the same way; and as much as she loves the name Ramona, she likes the names Bella and Sofia much more. "Bella and Sofia Casey are perfect, just like my husband." Smiling as he heard Gabby say that, Matt proceeded to look down at his beautiful daughters once more; after which, he put his hand on each of their necks and bent down to kiss their foreheads softly. "I love you girls so much, and I am so glad that you girls are here now." Gabby smiled and agreed with him.
"I feel the same way, but I'm going to be even happier when my loving husband is in bed with me." Turning to look at Gabby, Matt agreed with her as that most certainly was something that he wanted to do; he wanted to get in bed with the woman he loves, and he wants to hold her close to him. "Well, I think that can happen right now." Gabby agreed with Matt as she laid down in bed, and just got comfortable; after which, Matt started to make his way over to their bed so that he can get in bed with his gorgeous wife. The woman he loves more than anything in the entire world, and the woman he plans on holding in his arms for as long as he can; because she is so damn sexy, and she's just glad that they are going to be holding each other close right now. "God, you are so beautiful."
Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before smiling as she looked at him while still wearing her shirt (which was really one of his dress shirts); and even though it was still on, it wasn't done up. And that was when Gabby decided to do something, as she didn't want to be wearing it anymore when she was holding her husband close to her in bed; and let's just say that Matt loves that idea, especially as he watched Gabby sit up and move to take it off. "Oh, well I most definitely love the sight of this." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before moving to throw her shirt over to him. "Put that down for me?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she asked him that, before walking over to their bags to set them down; at the same time, he looked down at Andy and smiled at his dog.
And while he was interested in giving him some attention, he still had to do something else first; and that was to put his shirt down, so that he can hold his wife close. And now that he was done doing that, Matt smiled as he walked over to Alex; after which, he bent down and smiled as he scratched the top of his head. "Hi buddy, thanks for being such a good boy." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, as that most definitely is the truth. "If that isn't the case." Turning his head, Matt smiled as he looked at the woman he loves; after which, he proceeded to make his way back over to bed. That way, he could climb in with Gabby; the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world, and the mother of his beautiful children. And god, does he love his life more than anything.
And when Matt says that he loves his family more than anything, he truly means that; so much so, that he wanted to just concentrate on them right now. But still, that didn't mean that he couldn't still have his phone next to him; and that was due to the fact that he told his in-laws that they are to call him if the boys need anything, as he doesn't want to worry Gabby. So as much as he didn't want to have his phone next to him, he still needs to have it there; and now, he was going to get it just as soon as Matt finished grabbing it. And that started with him bending down, and grabbing his shorts, which he soon did, and went ahead to grab his phone…which is something that Gabby didn't really like. "Really, you need to grab your phone from your pocket?" Matt agreed with his wife.
"Who do you think is staying in contact with our family, and checking on the boys?" Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, well aware that it was him. "Right, that makes sense." Matt smiled as he agreed with Gabby, before carrying his phone over to his side table; after which, he went ahead and set it down on his charger (while also looking down at the woman he loves). "You like what you see?" Matt snickered and agreed with the woman he loves, as he prepared to climb into bed with Gabby. "Oh, I most definitely do like what I see; because I like looking at my wife, and the love of my life." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, before watching as he climbed into bed with her today; that way, they can hold each other close and just relax right now….as it's what they both want.
Slipping close to the woman he loves shortly after getting in bed with her, Matt smiled as he went ahead and tugged her body right against his chest; after all, that was exactly what they both wanted. They both want to hold each other close, and they just want to relax with each other; because that's exactly what they're going to do right now, as they hold each other close and just relax with each other. And god, they are both just so happy that this is what they're going to do right now. They're going to hold each other close, and they are going to make sure that they take it easy and just relax together; and that all starts with Matt wrapping his arm around Gabby and brought his gorgeous wife against his chest…and god does he like this feeling. He loves the feeling of her braless chest against his.
Leaning in, Matt smirked as he went ahead and kissed the woman he loves. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that he loves her, as she knows that more than anything in the entire world. "I love you too, and I am so glad that this is what we're in the midst of doing right now; just holding each other close, as we take it easy with each other." Matt smirked due to the fact that this is exactly what they both want. They both want to hold each other close, and just relax with each other; and that's simply due to the fact that they love each other more than anything in the entire world. And because Matt loves his wife so much, he knows that he needs to check on how Gabby is doing right now. "So, I think we both know what I need to do right now Gabby." Hearing that, Gabby was confused. "And what would that be?" Matt sighed as he leaned in and kissed the woman he loves. "I need to check on you."
Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, well aware that he needs to check on her; and how she's doing, which is something that he always does on a daily basis. "Hey, I understand that Matt; and I know that you want to do it all the time, because you love me and just want to make sure that I'm okay." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as that most definitely is the truth. "Yes, that's the exact reason that I want to check on how you're doing; so that I can make sure that you're okay." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt tell her that, before kissing the man she loves once more. "Matt, I'm okay; I promise. I'm doing much better because you're here." Matt agreed with his gorgeous wife as she said that, before smiling as he wrapped his arm around her back.
After which, he stroked her back with his thumb and just held her close to him. "I'm glad that we're alone right now, because we need this time with each other." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, as they most certainly do need this time with each other. "Oh, I am well aware that's the case. And I am so glad that we're alone too. But that doesn't mean that I don't miss the boys, but I miss them because I love them." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that's the case; and that's why he leaned in, and started to take things nice and slow with the woman he loves. "I promise, we'll see them soon. But right now, we're just going to take it easy and just relax." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before getting close to his wife and cuddling up to the man she loves more.
After which, Matt wrapped his arm around her even more; stroking her back with his thumb, Matt just smirked as he leaned in and kissed his gorgeous wife softly. "Damn, you are so beautiful; and I am so proud to call you my wife." Gabby agreed with her dreamy husband as he told her that, before leaning in and proceeding to kiss her man softly. "I love you too, and I am so glad that I get to call you my husband; but I would really like my husband to do something for me." Matt agreed with Gabby and just smiled as they both started to take things nice and slow with each other, because that most certainly is exactly what they both wanted him to do right now; they want to take things nice and slow with each other, as they held each other in the hospital bed this afternoon.
