Chapter Two Hundred and Seventy-Seven
Taking Care of It – Part Two
Their children were all fast asleep, and they were just taking it easy; taking it easy as they cuddled up to each other and watched some TV together on their iPad, as that was all that the parents wanted to do right now. They wanted to hold each other close, and they wanted to cuddle up to each other in bed this evening; but at the same time, they also knew that they needed to talk. Talk about everything that happened. Or so they thought they were going to, but that was not what Matt wanted to do tonight; rather, he just wanted to take things easy with Gabby, as he concentrates on her. And he thought that Gabby would be okay with that, but it turned out that wasn't the case; and that was due to the fact that she wanted to talk to her husband about what's been going on lately at work. And how their life has just been turned upside down, because of the media once more. "Matt, can we talk?"
Turning his head as he heard Gabby ask him whether they can talk, Matt agreed with her as he knew what she was thinking about right now; she was thinking about the impact of all of this on their family, and just how they're going to deal with it. And if that's what his wife wants too do, then he was going to let her do it. "Baby, we can always talk if you feel like you need to. What's going on?" Taking a breath as she looked up at her loving husband, Gabby could just tell that her man was worried at the moment; worried about how everything is going on, and she couldn't help but wonder what effect this is going to have on them…on their marriage. Because the last thing that she wanted, was for this to take a toll on their marriage. "Baby, I just want to make sure that we're okay; because I've heard what can happen in these situations, it can cause a lot of…" Based on what Gabby was saying, Matt just knew.
He knew where this was headed, and he didn't like it; and that was why he decided to shut it down right away, the moment that he heard Gabby start taking the conversation down this path. Because the last thing that Matt wanted, was for his wife to worry about whether they're going to be okay, when she should rather be concentrating on her recovery. Because that's what Gabby needs to concentrate on right now. She needs to concentrate on her recovery, and she needs to make sure that she's okay for their children; she can let him take care of the rest. "Hey, look at me and just relax. You have nothing to worry about right now. Right now, I can take care of everything; and everything is being taken care of. Baby, I promise that we're all good; and I have already asked the company to take care of it, because I am not going to take care of it. This is not my job right now. Right now, you are my priority."
Gabby agreed with her loving husband as he told her that, well aware that was the case. "Gabby, we have the girls and Noah here with us; and you're still recovering in the hospital, which means that I would like to just take it easy and relax with you." Gabby agreed, until she heard his phone ding. "Even if you get an e-mail here or there from the company?" Matt sighed as he looked at Gabby, because that was the one thing that he hated about his phone; the fact that he has both his personal and business e-mails connected. "Unfortunately, I combined the two e-mails that I have. My personal and business e-mails all get sent to my phone, and they also ding my phone all the time." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Can you maybe check the e-mail? And then you can shut off the alerts for the night? Maybe just at night you can shut it off." Matt agreed with his wife.
"Of course, I can shut it off at night baby, I will do that for you just after I read the e-mail." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "And can you keep doing it, even when we're out of the hospital? I know that might be too much but…" Matt shook his head. "No, it's not too much to ask. Whatever I need to do at 11 pm at night, can be done the next morning; because it's not going to change much overnight." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case. After which, she leaned up and proceeded to kiss the man she loves softly. "Did I ever tell you that I love you more than anything in the entire world?" Matt smirked and agreed with the woman he loves, as he very much knows just how much she loves him. "Well then, do you love me enough to let me read the e-mail that I just got?" Gabby agreed with Matt. "Honestly, I'm just curious at what it is anyways." Matt agreed and smiled.
Turning his head, Matt smiled as he proceeded to kiss her forehead softly. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I love you too, and I am so glad that we're here together; I mean, not that we want the…" Bending down, Matt interrupted his beautiful wife with a kiss. After all, he knew what she meant. She meant that she's just glad that they're here together, not that they're here in the first place. "Baby, I already know that; and you don't need to tell me that." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, glad that was the case. "Good, because this is the last place that I want to be with the kids." Matt agreed with his beautiful wife as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, now if that isn't the truth." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, while feeling him kiss the top of her head once more. "Okay, let's just see what's going on."
Going to open his e-mail this evening, Matt smiled as he went to see that it was an e-mail from Rafael. "It's an e-mail from Rafael." Gabby agreed. "So, it is business." Matt then continued to read on. "Well, somewhat; it's also a statement that they want to put out." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "A statement about what?" Matt then continued to read the e-mail. "A statement regarding the situation that we find ourselves in, and he said that Christie helped write it." Gabby agreed with her loving husband as he said that. "Well then, if Christie is involved…then this has to be quite important." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, as he was thinking the same thing. "I'm thinking the same thing. So, do you mind if I open it and read it?" Gabby shook her head. "Can you read it to me?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she asked him whether he can read it to her, which he most certainly can; he can always do just that.

On other matters related to ELLA Apparel, we want to confirm that it is true that ELLA Chief Creative Officer Stella Kidd-Severide has been suspended from her role as Chief Creative Officer after a recommendation from Minority Shareholder, and the new Interim Vice-Chairwoman and Deputy CEO Christie Casey. Christie Casey
Interim Vice-Chairwoman and Deputy CEO
Shortly after reading the statement that will be released to the press tomorrow, Matt and Gabby both looked at each other so that they could think about just what this meant. "So, it looks like there's going to be a lot of news that comes out tomorrow." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Are we going to talk about it?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she asked him whether they were going to talk about it. "Maybe we can go announcement by announcement?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "I like that idea." Kissing Gabby's forehead, Matt smiled as he looked down into her eyes. "Well, let's start with you. The first part of the news in this statement is with regards to the fact that Christie has just been appointed interim Vice-Chairwoman and Deputy CEO of ELLA Apparel. What are you thinking of that?" Gabby agreed with Matt. "I like that idea, as I trust her."
Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that. "But also, I think I want to change something." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, before turning to look at Gabby. "And what would that be?" Gabby smiled. "I want to change the name of my division." Matt was confused as he heard Gabby say that. "What do you mean?" Gabby sighed. "I want to make it Casey Creations. I know, it started as ELLA; and you have all of the patents for that but…I think it'd be best if I do Casey Creations. Matt was a bit confused. "Is there a reason why you want to do Casey Creations now?" Gabby sighed. "I think it'd be best if we set boundaries with Stella. If I show her that it's Casey Creations, and that I am the one attached to it…then I have more weight if that makes sense." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Here, then let me grab my laptop; and I can update the press release." Gabby agreed with Matt.

Shortly after typing out the updated press release (and sending it to Christie, as well as Antonio just so that Gabby's family is aware of what they are going to send out in the coming days for a statement) that they want the company to put out, Matt and Gabby both went ahead and read it quickly due to the fact that they already know what they put in the press release. And they had to say, they did a much better job when it comes to writing the statement; as well, they made some decisions that they can make unilaterally even when they are taking time off. And right now, that's exactly what the couple needed to do; but they also need to do something else, they need to get the statement back to Rafael and Christie ahead of the press conference that they're going to have tomorrow. "Okay, so what are we thinking about this?" Turning her head, Gabby smiled as she looked at her dreamy husband. "I think that we can send this to your sister. Then, you can shut off your laptop and we can go to bed." Matt agreed with his wife, smiling at her. "Sweats still?"
Gabby agreed with her husband as he asked her whether she still wanted him to stay in sweats, as she most definitely did. "Do you mind?" Leaning over his beautiful wife, Matt shook his head as he didn't mind whatsoever. "I don't mind whatsoever, and I am more than okay with staying in sweats." Gabby agreed with Matt as he kissed her one more time. After which, she watched him get up and carry his laptop away. "I have to say, you are a really good writer." Matt laughed as he heard Gabby say that, before smirking at his wife. "Then maybe I should start writing some more." Gabby agreed. "Maybe you can start with writing some love letters to me, not that you've ever written any to me." Matt looked at his wife as she said that, as that most certainly was not the truth. "Oh, now that's a lie!" Gabby was confused. "When did you write me a love letter?" Matt smiled as he grabbed his laptop bag this evening.
After which, he went ahead and slipped his laptop into it. "Oh, I don't know…just when my wife was about a thousand miles away from me in Puerto Rico." Gabby then realized that. "Right, and then you sent them to me over e-mail." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, as that most certainly was exactly when he wrote the love letters to her. "I'm surprised that you almost forgot. No, not surprised; offended that you almost forgot the fact that I sent you love letters while you were in Puerto Rico." Gabby agreed with her loving husband as he said that, before smiling as he walked over to her. After which, Matt proceeded to lean over her and kiss her softly; moving her hand to his neck at the same time, Gabby smirked as she took things nice and slow with her dreamy husband. "God, I love you so much." Matt agreed with Gabby as she told him that, just smiling at his beautiful wife. "I love you too."
Gabby smiled and agreed with Matt once more, before running her finger down his cheekbone. "Enough to come join me in bed?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she asked him whether he loved her enough to come join her in bed; because he most certainly does love her enough to join her in bed. "Oh, I love you more than enough to get in bed with the woman of my dreams." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before feeling him bend down and kiss her softly. After which, she started to take things nice and slow with her husband once more. "Damn, I love it when you kiss me like that." Matt agreed with Gabby as she told him that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I am sure that I already know that." Gabby smirked, before agreeing with her husband. "How do you think Stella is going to react to that news?" Matt sighed as he looked at his wife, before rejoining her in bed once more this evening.
After which, he wrapped his arm around her and cuddled up to her; meanwhile, Gabby wrapped her arms around his torso as she held her husband close to her. The husband who soon left a son kiss on top of her head and just held her close. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "Still doesn't answer my question." Turning his head, Matt looked down at his beautiful wife. "I don't care what Stella says. She works for us, and she is not funding the line; if she wants to put her own money into funding the line, then she has a say. But if she wants to keep working for us, then she needs to get in line. She hurt us, and almost caused us to loose our daughters. As far as I'm concerned, she isn't a co-founder of Casey Creations at the moment; she's nothing more than an employee, and the wife of the Kelly Severide…the President and Deputy CEO of Casey Fire." Gabby agreed with her husband, smiling at him.
After which, Matt bent down and proceeded to kiss her forehead softly. "I love you Gabby, and I want to protect you; and me doing this, this is how I protect you." Gabby agreed with Matt as she said that, before hearing Matt's phone ding again. After which, Matt reached over to see that it was a text message from Christie. 'Wow, you guys made a lot of changes to the press release.' Matt agreed with Christie. "It's my sister, can we call her and talk to her about it?" Gabby agreed with her husband, as they most certainly can.
Quietly putting both of their AirPods into their phones and adding Gabby to the call that they were about to have with Christie; Matt and Gabby both smiled as they held each other this evening for the duration of the call. "So, more than just texting." Gabby agreed. "Me and Matt both thought my new Interim Vice-Chairwoman and Deputy CEO of Casey Creations deserved more, especially since she's family." Christie agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Yeah, I saw that part. Do you really want to make it Casey Creations?" Gabby sighed. "I want to send a message to Stella, that this is my company and that you are the one that is in charge of it for now." Christie agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Well, that most certainly is the case now that we have this press release to go out." Matt agreed with his sister, before adding on. "Christie, I want you to do it for us. I want you to speak the statement on my behalf."
Christie agreed with her brother as he said that. "That's what I told Rafael, I told him that I wanted to do the statement because of how personal; in fact, he's on the line with us." Rafael agreed with Christie. "Good evening Mr. Casey, pleasure to speak with you." Matt laughed. "Rafael, it's Matt." Rafael agreed. "How are you all doing? I just read the new statement, well got it read to me by my car." Matt agreed with Rafael as he said that. "On your way home to Jane and your Matteo?" Rafael agreed. "Yes I am. Oh dear, how is Noah by the way?" Gabby sighed. "Doing much better, thanks for asking." Christie agreed. "I was about to ask. I am so sorry for this Gabby, and I promise that we are going to do a much better job than last time. I already spoke to Mike Davidson. I told him that me and Violet were going to be staying with you guys at your place. We're staying in your room. And he can protect us there." Matt agreed.
"The more security the better, I like that." Christie agreed. "I thought the same thing. And I also told them that I would be working from home, to limit the exposure that the boys need to have to the press. But I will go in tomorrow, and I will address the cameras; and I hope you don't mind Rafael, but I am going to address the staff with regards to all the changes. And we will talk to them. And Gabby, I am going to talk to all of the ELL…I mean Casey Creations staff, and I am going to tell them what's up." Gabby agreed with Christie. "Yeah, I know; quick change, and I am going to have to get used to it as well." Christie agreed. "I promise guys, we have the company under control; and we are going to make sure that this is smooth, including the transition back. Also, I am going to keep you in the loop Matt as I know you want to be involved even though you…" Matt sighed. "Not yet, let's get Noah out of the hospital first."
Christie agreed with her brother once more, as that's a good idea. "Yeah, that's probably the best idea. Didn't think about that. But still, I am going to make sure that you guys are protected; and that everything is safe, and that we are going to keep HER away from the building." Matt agreed. "Please keep Severide in line, because I know that he's going to be grumpy." Christie agreed with her brother as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I also spoke to Alex, and she said that she's going to work from home if needed, because she wants to help in whatever way she can help in this time of need." That's when Matt got an alert. "Actually, I just got an alert. Give me a second to just read an e-mail." Christie agreed, while Matt proceeded to open the e-mail.

Dr. Natalie Halstead, Vice-President, and COO of The Casey Health Clinic
Shortly after reading the press release that her brother just wrote up, Gabby smiled as she turned to look at Matt, who was well aware of what he needed to do for hirs wife. "I know, we need to add him to the call. But first, can I ask Christie; did you tell Antonio that you were going to release a press release?" Christie agreed. "I told him that we would, and that it would come from the company. And he asked me if it would be okay if he put one out, on behalf of the family; and I said that it would be okay, as I know that there are other sentiments that he needed to be put in his own words. And in fact, I am starting to wonder whether we should just release the press releases; rather than have to deal with a press conference, and a lot of questions for both of us." Matt agreed. "I think for a while, we should just stay the course and take it easy. Maybe in a week or so, I can come to the office and do a press conference myself."
Turning his head, Matt wanted to see what Gabby thought about that; and the truth was, she liked that idea. "Honestly, I like that idea. That way, we can be heard personally; not that we wouldn't be okay with you speaking for us Christie." Christie agreed with her sister-in-law as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I am well aware that's the case Gabby. Now, when are we going to add Antonio to the call?" Gabby laughed as she heard Christie ask her that. "Calm down, I'm doing it right now from my phone." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, glad that she was doing it as she was much better when it came to this; and luckily for the both of them, it didn't take long for Antonio to join the call. "Hello, I can only assume this is about the draft that I sent you guys." Gabby agreed with Antonio as he said that. "Damn, you wrote that fast brother…and with the Halsteads too? They with you right now?"
Antonio agreed with Gabby as she asked him whether the Halsteads were with him. "They're actually on the other line. Here, let me add them all to this big conference call." Matt agreed with Antonio as he said that, as that was a good idea.
