Chapter Two Hundred and Eighty-Three
About All This Craziness
Halstead Kitchen – His brother was clearly able to see that everything just got a whole lot crazy, and quite stressful for him; Jay having just been called to his and Alex's room, thinking that she was hurt, or something really frazzled him. But now, he was breathing and just taking it easy, which was why Will decided to do something for his brother. And that would be to just let him relax and take it easy ahead of what will very likely be a stressful day; and that was why he thought that he needed this, so that he can just take it easy and relax. And right now, that was exactly what Jay was doing as he sat down on the couch with Max. However, soon he was going to be doing something else; and that would be drinking the coffee that his brother was about to give him, so that he can calm down.
"Here, I made you some coffee."
Turning his head as he heard his brother tell him that he made him some coffee, Jay smiled as he was quite grateful that his brother decided to make him some coffee; and he truly meant it when he said that, as that was exactly what he wanted right now. He wanted to drink something, so that he can just relax and take it easy. "I just hope that it calms me down." The COO of Casey Police said, as he went to grab the coffee mug that his brother was holding out for him. "Wait, did you already talk to Alex and Natalie about us having some coffee?" And just like magic, it seemed that Alex Halstead just knew what she had to do for her husband; and that would be to send him a text message, a text message which perfectly answered the question which he just posed his brother this morning.
'Grab the coffee from Will and drink it. I already approved. -XO Alex.'
Jay couldn't help but snicker as he read the text message on his watch, before doing as his wife told him to do; and that would be to grab the coffee mug that his brother was offering him, so that he can drink it as he took it easy. After which, he turned his head and smiled at his brother. "Thanks, Will." Will agreed with his brother, well aware that this was what he needed right now. He needed to drink some coffee and just take it easy, so that was exactly what he did. He grabbed the coffee and brought it to his lips before taking a sip of the warm liquid, which was now making it's way down it's throat, because that's exactly what it's in the midst of doing right now. "God, now that's exactly what daddy needs right now. A nice coffee to relax." Will laughed as he heard Jay say that.
"Didn't know that coffee can help you relax, when it has so much caffeine in it."
Jay agreed with his brother as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I know that's the case. But at the same time, it's really nice to be drinking; especially since I didn't do much of it while Alex was pregnant, and then in the hospital." Will agreed with the brother as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, now that's a huge lie. I remember seeing you drink some each and every morning." Jay sighed, before agreeing with his brother as he said that; well aware that was the case, as he thought about just how much hard it was in the hospital. "Well, I am not going to think about that; especially not when I'm never going to have to deal with that ever again." Will sighed as he heard Jay say that. "Yeah, don't say that…unless you can jinx it with Alex." Jay shook his head.
"We can't have kids anymore."
Will was confused as he heard Jay say that, before walking over to him. "What are you talking about Jay?" Carrying the plates over to the living room, he made his way in with the hopes of getting some more information about just what he was talking about. "What's going on with Alex? She okay?" Jay sighed as Will walked over to one of his seats. "Wait, did you already bring food to our wives?" Will agreed with Jay as he asked him whether he brought breakfast to their wives, which he most certainly did. "Don't worry, Alex has already been fed. But now, what in the world are you talking about when it comes to how you can't have kids anymore?" Jay sighed as he watched Will sit down, before going to fill him in on what's going on. "Remember how Alex was bleeding a lot during birth?"
Will agreed with his brother as he said that, as that most certainly was not something that he could ever forget; especially when he was extremely worried and scared to loose his wife. "Yeah, I remember that." Jay nodded. "Well, Alex just told me that they first of all do not recommend her giving birth; and when they reviewed her charts, they revealed that they actually tied her tubes while they tried to stop the bleeding." Will was shocked as he heard Jay say that. "Wow, it was that bad?" Jay agreed with Will as he asked him whether it was that bad, as that was how bad it was. "We were worried the entire time, and she was touch and go." Will took a breath, well aware that was the case. "I know what you mean. And I hate that's what happened Jay, as I know you wanted kids." Jay agreed.
But then again, he already has kids; and he already loves the kids that they have, and it's all the kids that they need. "But I think that we already have enough kids, because we have two kids. My handsome son to carry on our last name, and a beautiful baby girl who's stolen my heart…and continues to steal my heart each and every time that I look at her." Will laughed as he heard his brother say that, before going to take a bite of his breakfast once more this morning. "And I am just so glad that they are home, and happy that they are safe and thriving right now." Will agreed with Jay as he said that, as he feels the same way as a proud uncle. "I feel the same way as their uncle, just to let you know." Jay agreed with Will as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, don't I already know that."
Laughing, Will just smiled. "But honestly, you do realize that you can have kids other ways if you change your mind." Jay agreed with Will as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know, and I am more than other with that. But now, I am not really interested in talking about this anymore; rather, I want to talk about what the hell happened at the office, and just how we're going to be dealing with this." Will agreed with his brother as he said that. "I have to say this by the way, that I was really impressed in how you wrote the statement. It was perfect, and exactly what we needed to do." Jay agreed with his brother, before taking a breath due to the fact that there's just something that he felt like he needed to do for their friends. "It's not fair that they have to deal with this right now."
Will agreed with Jay as he said that, before thinking about each and every time that he has to visit them. "God, it's so hard to walk by their room. I look at them as our friends, and it's hard to see them there again; especially when they have three kids with them, the twins AND Noah right now." Jay sighed as he heard Will say that. "I need to talk to him again, make sure that he's okay and just taking it easy; I hate that he has to deal with this, especially when this is the second time that he's in the NICU with his twins." Will concurred with Jay as he said that, before adding on to the statement. "And he also has Noah in the hospital with them right now." Will and Jay both agreed with each other, while they continued to eat breakfast with each other this morning.
But little did the brothers know that Natalie and Alex were also talking about this exact same topic.
Alex couldn't help but sigh and look at her twins while thinking about the last time that she was in the hospital, which is still something that she thinks about every day; but at the same time, she also thinks about how this has also led to a huge rift in between the both of them. And right now, that was the case thing that she wanted; as she wanted him to be in her children's lives, but that can't happen when she does trust him. "I swear, this is the worst situation that I find myself in. I want to trust my father more than anybody, but he was the one that hurt me." Natalie agreed with Alex as she said that. "I hope you're also taking it easy and relaxing." Alex agreed with Natalie. "I have, and I've yet to speak to my father; especially since I'm having a bit of mini-PTSD right now."
Natalie was confused as she heard Alex say that, as she wasn't sure just what she was talking about that. "What are you talking about Alex?" Alex sighed. "I mean, because of what happened to Gabby at the hand of someone she considers a sister." Natalie agreed with her sister-in-law as she said that, well aware that was the case. "And it happened to you, at the hands of your father." Alex agreed. "Plus, I still hate what else he did to me. Heck, Jay probably already just told his brother that this is what's going on." Natalie was confused as she heard Alex say that. "What are you talking about Alex?" Alex sighed. "I just learned from my doctor that I can't have any more kids, because of the blood loss that I suffered." Natalie was absolutely horrified at what happened. "Oh dear."
Alex agreed with her sister-in-law as she said that, before taking another bite of her breakfast. "So, that's something that we're dealing with right now; and we're also having to deal with the memory of it because it's now happening to Matt and Gabby. But I have to say, I am quite happy that Jay is going to be helping Matt and Gabby out like he is right now." Natalie smiled as she heard Alex say that. "I feel the same way about Will. Heck, you should've seen us last night." Alex smirked as she heard Natalie say that.
Flashback:
She may be pregnant with their child, seventeen weeks more specifically; but she wanted to do something for her husband, simply due to the fact that she was extremely proud of him. Proud of the statement that he wrote with his brother, and how he was defending their friends. And that was something that she wanted to tell him. Just how proud she is, and she also hoped to do something; due to the fact that she was hormonal and was made just worse as she was pregnant with their son. And that was why she was currently standing at the end of their bed, waiting for Will to come in; and that was exactly what he was in the midst of doing, the pending father having just finished in the bathroom. At the same time, he looked up and just stared at his gorgeous lingerie-clad wife.
"Oh, wow."
Natalie smiled as she heard Will say that, well aware that he liked the sight in front of him; and there was a reason for that, which is due to the fact that she's currently wearing some very sexy lingerie that he likes. "You like?" Will agreed with Natalie as she asked him whether he likes what he's seeing, as he most certainly does like what he sees. "Is that a trick question?" Walking up to his beautiful wife, Will smirked as he put his hands on her stomach as they both held each other close; at the same time, Natalie put her hands on his toned chest and smiled as she was really happy right now. After which, she leaned in and kissed him softly. "You were really nice in the statement that you released with Jay." Will laughed as he heard Natalie say that, before tugging his pregnant wife's body against his.
"Oh, is that why I'm currently in the midst of getting this from you?"
Leaning in, Natalie agreed as she put her hand on the side of Will's face and just took things nice and slow with the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. "What do you think?" Will just smirked as he was extremely happy to be getting this. "I am not wasting time, just to let you know." Natalie agreed with Will as he got close to her, before bending down and kissing her neck softly. "I'm going to take you to bed right now." Nat agreed with Will as he said that, before grabbing the back of his head and moaning. "Then how about you get to work Doc? I want you right now Halstead." Will smirked as he heard Natalie say that, before sucking on her neck; after which, he picked her up in his arms and carried her to their bed so that he could take things nice and slow with her.
After taking a minute to think about what they did the night before, Natalie smirked due to the fact that it was really nice; after which, she turned her head and looked at Alex (who was smirking). "I can only imagine how good last night was for you guys." Natalie published as that most certainly was the case. "Oh, shut up; like you and Jay don't have fun with each other at times." Alex agreed with Natalie as she said that. "But can we go back to what I was just talking about?" Natalie agreed. "So, how are you dealing with that news? The news that you and Jay can't have more kids?" Alex took a breath. "The truth is, I have mixed feelings." Natalie was a bit taken aback when she heard Alex say that. "Really?" Alex agreed with Natalie as she said that, as that was the truth right now.
"Is it wrong for me to not want to have another kid in the future? And just be done?"
Looking at Alex, Natalie shook her head before grabbing her hand. "Hey, of course not Alex; if this is what you want, then you just need to be happy and take it easy." Alex agreed with her sister-in-law as she said that, as that most certainly was the case. "Good, because I'm not sure whether I could do it again." Natalie agreed, before smiling; after which, she felt like she had to go to the bathroom and sighed. "Do you mind if I use your bathroom?" Alex shook her head and smiled at Natalie. "No, go ahead and use the washroom. I still remember how things were when I was pregnant." Natalie agreed with Alex as she said that, before going to the washroom. But at the same time, Alex couldn't help but think about how relieved she was that she was done; she just hated saying it.
But at the same time, she knew that she couldn't share the news with Jay yet, because it would break his heart. But little did she know that he already knew; and that was due to the fact that he just overheard her. And right now, she just hoped to eat. And that was exactly what she was in the midst of doing, as she went ahead and started to take a bite of her breakfast; that was, until she heard her husband speak to her.
"I hope you know that you didn't need to hide the fact that you don't want to have another baby from me."
