Hi Readers: Sorry for the delay in chapters. I have just been really lazy today and have been thinking of what to write. But now, I am going to get to work and hopefully get a bunch of chapters out to you guys as we get closer and closer to three hundred chapters. I still can't believe that we're already closing in on three hundred chapters, because I didn't think I would be able to continue this story will all these storylines that I'm writing for this long. But now, let's not waste anymore time and give you some answers.
Chapter Two Hundred and Eighty-Nine
He Said What Now?
He was still mad at his best friend as he made his way into his and Gabby's bedroom, the father of four still not believing his own ears after what Kelly told him; after all, they just lost another child. And that was why they were done, because they lost a son; another one. Matt always believed that their first child was going to be a boy, and now they lost two sons. Or maybe it was a girl, because that's what it has to be so that it balances out. There's no way that they would have four sons, and only two daughters. Oh god, what does the gender even matter when it comes down to it; it's not like they ever got to meet their child, because they didn't. They never got a chance to even know the gender of their child, but that's not what they have to deal with right now as he has to tell Gabby.
He has to tell Gabby what Severide just told him, and he needs to make a bunch of decisions as to Severide's future with the company; other than the one he already made, by suspending him. And that reminds him, he needs to tell Rafael about that through an e-mail, which he will do another time, because now is not the time to write that e-mail. He's far too angry, and he doesn't want to write anything that could damage his relationship with Kelly permanently; not that it wouldn't be warranted, based on what he just said. He just hates that he's going to have to tell Gabby what he said, as he knows that it's going to break her heart; it's going to make her mad, and that may hinder all the progress that she's made in her recovery of a premature birth. And that's the last thing he wants.
He wants them to move forward, rather than backwards; and if they get mad, then they are just going to go backwards in all of her progress. But still, he knows that he'll just have to tell her at some point; but maybe not yet, not when he has to get changed and be comfortable with his wife instead. And that was the entire reason why Matt was currently in the bathroom, as he got changed and put on some fresh deodorant and cologne this afternoon; but that wasn't all he had to do prior to leaving the washroom and re-joining Gabby and the boys in bed, as he also had to tell Camila something. And that would be that he wasn't wearing his pants anymore, due to the fact that he wants to be comfortable. And to be comfortable, he has to wear his boxers and a t-shirt; because that's cozy.
"Camila, I am warning you right now; you are not to comment on my attire, as it's not changing."
Hearing Matt say that, Gabby snickered a bit as she already knew what he was going to wear; at least, she thought she did. But she didn't, as she thought that Matt was just going to be wearing his boxers; but as you know, he's also wearing a t-shirt. "Baby, maybe you should wear a t-shirt while my mom is here." Coming out of the washroom, Matt smiled as he looked at his beautiful wife; after all, he was thinking the same thing. "Great minds think alike, I think that's the saying at least." Gabby smiled as she heard her husband say that, because they most certainly do. "Remember, just take it easy and relax baby; we're just taking it easy with the boys today." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Gabby, I already know that." Gabby agreed with her husband.
After which, she turned to look at her mom. "Mom, you okay with what Matt's wearing?" Smiling as she held her grandson Noah in her arms, Camila smiled. "Of course, I understand that you want to be comfortable." Matt smiled as he heard Camila say that, before looking at Noah. "I can only assume that's exactly how Noah feels right now?" Rocking her grandson in the rocking chair, Camila smiled and agreed with Matt as that most certainly is what Noah is as he cuddled up to his abuela. "I think that's how we can describe how Noah is, as he cuddles up to me right now…" Turning her head, Camila smiled at her grandson. "Isn't that right Noah, comfortable?" Nodding as he held his blankie in his arms, Noah just cuddled up to his abuela; at the same time, Matt made his way over to them.
He then proceeded to look at his son, putting his hand on the back of his head before stroking the top of his head with his thumb; and boy did Noah like that, due to the fact that he was getting some attention from his father. So much so, that he wanted more attention from his father, which he showed them, by extending his hand and just looking at his dad. After which, Camila looked up at Matt. "Let me guess, you're going to want to hold your son right now?" Taking a breath, Matt agreed. "I think I need it right now, that way I'll remember to not explode." Gabby was confused as she heard her husband say that, while also watching as Matt picked Noah up in his arms; after which, he brought his face close to him and kissed his cheek. After which, Noah wrapping his arms around his neck.
"Oh, there's my baby boy. Someone wants to cuddle up to daddy, and just hold him close today."
Bringing him close, Matt rubbed his back and tapped it while also looking at him; after which, he kissed his forehead when he felt Camila reach out for him. Turning his head, he then noticed that Camila was holding Noah's blanket out for him. "Thanks Camila." Camila agreed with Matt as he said that. "No problem Matt, I mean that." Turning his head, Matt smiled as he looked at Noah. "Yeah, you want to just cuddle up to daddy in bed; don't you my little man?" Kissing his forehead, Matt smiled as he proceeded to carry Noah back to bed so that he can hold him close. At the same time, Gabby looked up at Matt. "Now, that's an adorable sight that I love to see." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before smiling at her. "So listen, uhm…" Matt then turned to look at Camila.
"Camila, do you mind doing me a favor?"
Camila was confused as she heard her Yerno (son-in-law) ask her that, unsure of what he needs her to do; but still, she was going to just let him talk to her. "What is it Matt?" Matt sighed. "Do you mind going to the nurses and asking them to get the crib we asked for Matteo? They haven't brought it yet." Turning her head, Gabby was confused as to why her husband didn't want to do it. "You couldn't do it on your…" That was when Gabby really looked up, right into Matt's eyes; and there was just something in the way that he was looking at her that made her know that he needs a moment alone with her. "Mom, do you mind? Maybe they can also bring us fresh towels? And a couple small towels for Matteo and Noah?" Realizing what the couple really wanted, Camila just agreed with them.
"Would you like me to leave for the day?"
Matt shook his head as Camila asked whether they wanted her to leave for the day, as that wasn't what he wanted; rather, he just needs a moment to speak to his wife alone about something. "No, I just need a moment to speak with Gabby about something." Camila agreed with her son-in-law, before getting up and agreeing with him; after which, she proceeded to walk away so that she could let Matt and Gabby have a moment alone with their sons. Why they needed a moment alone? She had no clue. But at the same time, she understood that there are times where she can't know everything; and unfortunately, these were one of those times. Matt just didn't want to get his mother-in-law involved, when this is something that involves the two of them and their best friends.
Sitting down in bed as a family of four in quiet, Matt and Gabby both just took a moment to relax ahead of the two of them talking; about what, Gabby still had no clue. But she most certainly did want to know, and that was why she decided to ask her husband. "So, I can only assume that something happened out there?" Matt sighed as he looked at Gabby, and then looked down at his baby boy. "I ran into Kelly downstairs." Gabby looked at her husband. "Was she with him?" Matt shook his head. "But Stella was the topic of conversation, because he most certainly did not like the statement that we released; when we threw her under the bus, and everything." Gabby just looked at her husband as he said that. "We threw her under the bus?" Matt agreed with Gabby.
"Yes, that's exactly what he told me."
Gabby shook her head, as she was in disbelief; all they did was say the truth, and that was something that she can't believe Kelly is doing. "And he's pissed that we suspended her without pay." Gabby just took a breath, as she looked up at the man she loves. "Matt, I hope that you don't feel like we made a mist…" Looking at Gabby, Matt was shocked that she would even think for a moment that he thought that they made a mistake. "Oh, god no. I already know that we didn't make a mistake when it came to the decisions we made for the company." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that. "So, do you think that this is just going to make things worse?" Slipping down in bed, Matt proceeded to lean back against his pillow some more as he got comfortable with Noah.
After which, he wrapped his arm around him and just cuddle up to his little guy. "I have no clue, but I am just worried now as I am really not in the mood to have to deal with this; I mean, we are dealing with so much right now, and I don't think he gets that…" That's when Matt realized something, which would be that he maybe shouldn't be putting this all out on Gabby. "I really don't think that we should…" Reaching for Matt's hand, Gabby grabbed it and intertwined their fingers. "Hey, look at me." Turning his head, Matt smiled as he looked at the woman he loves. "Matt, we did the right thing; we both know that, and everything that was said in that statement was true." Matt agreed with Gabby. "And that's what we both agreed about at the end of the conversation." Gabby was confused.
After all, he is quite angry right now; but in her opinion, that wasn't enough to be mad about for a while. "Okay, I can tell that there's something else going on." Matt bit his lip. "We got talking about what we did on our anniversary, and we said not much; then we talked about how I wanted to do something special on our 5th anniversary, and how I might take you to Paris." Gabby smirked as she heard her husband say that, as that most certainly is something that she loves the sound of. "Oh, I most certainly do love the sound of that." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that. "Then, he made the comment about how we might go for another…" Gabby was shocked as he heard Matt say that, already well aware of how he was going to be finishing that sentence. "Baby?" Matt agreed.
After all, that was exactly what Kelly was inferring. "Don't worry, I already spoke to him. God, he thought that it would be our fifth child; when I reminded him that it would actually be our seventh." Gabby agreed with Matt, noticing that her husband was getting a bit agitated at the moment. "Hey, take a breath and relax baby. Everything's okay, and we're together right now." Matt agreed with her as she said that, before looking at the woman he loves; staring into her eyes, Matt leaned in and proceeded to kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "I'm sorry that he even said that." Gabby was a bit taken aback as she heard her husband apologize, when he was the last person who needed to apologize for this; if anybody had to apologize, it was Kelly.
"Hey, you have nothing to apologize for Matt. Kelly has something to apologize for, and he has to know it."
Matt shrugged. "Pretty sure he's not going to be talking to me for a while, considering I suspended him." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "And I think that's what you need to do, we need a cooling off period with him." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before taking a breath. "I'm starting to wonder whether we should send him to Los Angeles, just have him be there and work out of that office for a while." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, because she thinks that most certainly can work. "I would have to say, it'd be nice to get some distance from the two of them." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, as that was exactly what he was thinking. "Yeah, that was where my head was at." Gabby just took a breath and thought about it.
After all, there are logistics that come with it. "I mean, but they have the boys." Matt nodded as he wrapped his arm around Gabby, before turning his head and kissing her forehead softly. "I think that we just need to take it easy and relax right now, Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, before smiling as she leaned in and kissed the man she loves. "Do you want to turn the TV on, maybe we can find a kids movie that the boys can enjoy with us?" Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, as that most certainly is something that he's interested in. After which, he reached over to go grab the TV remote. That was, until he heard a knock on the door. "Who's there?" That's when Matt heard a voice that he hasn't heard in a while. "Mr. Casey, it's Mario and Bella Jacobs." Gabby smiled.
She then turned her head and looked at Matt. "I would love to see one of my designers." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Please, come in Mario and Bella."
Quick Reminder: Before we begin with the visit, I want to remind you just who Mario and Bella are, because it's been a while since we last saw them. Of course, you already know that they're a married couple as they share a last name. And you also know that they are Casey Employees, but you may not know their positions; so, I am going to remind you: Mario is a Designer for Casey Menswear. Meanwhile, Belle is a Model for Casey Apparel; more specifically, she's a model for Casey Lingerie and Swimwear. And she was chosen as the head of the face of the 2020 Spring/Summer Campaign. But now, enough about them personally; and more about their visit, before we go visit with them…as I plan on doing something, and that would be give you some perspective on just what the staff think about all this.
They decided to come to the hospital after listening to the press conference, and hearing what happened to Ms. Casey; because at the end of the day, they feel like they're more friends than employees with the couple. And that was the real reason that Mario and Bella decided to come, as they wanted to make sure that their bosses were okay, as well as their children, of course. But what they didn't expect, was that they would have a full house. "Wow, full house here. Didn't expect to see all six of you here." Snickering as he heard Mario say that, Matt agreed. "Well, we do want to keep our family close." At the same time, Bella smiled as she looked at her boss. "Uhm, I hope we aren't disturbing. I know this is a bit awkward since we aren't exactly…" Gabby just looked at Bella.
Because she already know what she was going to say, and that was that they aren't friends; but they most certainly are friends, because she's a fellow Latina. "Bella, so far there are only three Latinas who work for the company. Well, other than myself and my mother. And those people would be you, Jane, and the bitch." Confused, Mario looked at Gabby; after which, Matt decided to fill him in. "Do you remember what they said in the press conference, and who was suspended?" Mario then realized who Gabby was talking about, and just agreed. "Right, of course. Uhm, but we really hope it's a good time. We just wanted to come send our wishes." Bella agreed with Mario. "And of course, deliver these nice flowers that we got for you guys." Gabby agreed with Bella.
"You can fill the vase over there in the washroom."
Bella smiled as she looked at Mario, before moving her hand to his back. "Of course, go ahead." Mario then bent down and smiled as he proceeded to kiss her softly. "Go ahead." Bella smiled as she walked away, while Mario looked at the couple in bed. "I just want to say this, this is my wife's idea." Matt laughed. "Mario, I promise that it's fine." Mario agreed with Matt as he said that, before making his way over to him; after which, he wanted to shake his hand. But first, Matt needed Mario to do something. "Before you shake my hand, you need to go wash your hands." Mario smiled. "I already did that when we walked into the room, because we ran into your mother." Gabby agreed with Matt, as that most certainly was something she knew that her mother would do.
"Well, I know my mom would most certainly do that."
Mario smiled as he heard Gabby say that. "Do you mind if I…" Matt shook his head. "No, go ahead." Making his way over to the girls, Mario smiled as he they truly are quite adorable. "The two of you truly do make adorable children Mr. and Ms. Casey." Matt agreed with Mario as he said that. "Please, Matt and Gabby right now." Mario agreed with Matt as he said that. "How are you doing?" Gabby took a breath as Mario asked her that. "We could be doing better, considering our life is a mess right now." Turning his head, Matt shook his head as he put his hand on her back; after which, he proceeded to kiss her forehead softly. "Hey, everything will turn out okay. We both know that Gabby." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, while Mario looked at the both of them.
"Gabby, I want to just say something if you don't mind."
Gabby agreed with Mario, open to whatever he has to say. "Mario, of course you can. What's going on?" Mario sighed. "I know I'm not that high of an executive. But I have been speaking some of my co-workers, and I hope you know that we're all thinking about you; and when it comes to what Ms. Severide did, we are appalled and are not happy that we had to have her as a boss while you were gone." Gabby agreed with Mario as he said that, well aware that was the case. "We aren't talking about her in here, just to let you know." That's when Bella came out of the washroom. "Seriously Mario? You already mentioned HER!" Mario sighed as he turned to look at his wife. "I didn't say her name, I was just sending my best from the rest of our staff and friends." Bella agreed with her husband.
After which, she turned to look at their bosses. "Where would you like the flowers?" Matt smiled. "Maybe on the window ledge?" Bella agreed with Matt as he said that, before walking away so that she could do just that. Setting it down, Bella smiled as she turned around; after which, he looked down at the girls once more. "Well, these little ladies here are quite adorable. Spitting imagine of their mother." Gabby smiled as she heard Bella say that. "Thank you Bella." Bella agreed with Gabby, before smiling at her. "Well, I'm just glad that things are somewhat better here." Gabby nodded as she heard Bella say that, as that most certainly is exactly how she's feeling. "I think that we are most certainly going to need a nice vacation when we get out of the hospital." Mario agreed.
"Oh, I definitely agree with you when you say that; because that is what the both of you need, time to relax with each other."
Matt smiled as he heard Mario say that. "And thanks to Rafael, that is exactly what we're getting." Mario agreed. "I swear, I love that you chose him; because there's nobody better than Rafael to take care of the company, I've known him for a while." Gabby agreed with him mas he said that. "Well, we're good friends with them because of the kids." Bella laughed. "They're talking about going for a daughter." Gabby shook her head as she heard Bella say that, as that was something that she should've expected. "Of course. The minute we have kids, other people want to have kids." Bella agreed as she looked at her, while also moving to sit at the end of her bed. "Do you mind?" Gabby shook her head as she most certainly doesn't mind. "No, just sit down and relax." Bella agreed, smiling.
The trio of adults all smiled and laughed a bit as they spoke, because this truly is exactly what they all need; after all, they don't have much when it comes to adult interaction. "I swear, things have got to go our way next year." Matt agreed with Mario as he said that, as that's exactly what he's thinking as well. "Tell me about it, we need to have things go our way for the company." Bella just smiled as she looked at him. "How are you doing though Mr. Casey? I know that you have PTSD, and I hope that it's not too bad here in the hospital." Matt sighed as Bella asked him that. "It's only been a few days, and I haven't been getting much sleep; so, I don't have much information as to whether things are going to get better." Rubbing Matt's back, Gabby looked at the man she loves.
"Hey, do you need to talk to me?"
Matt shook his head. "It's just a lot to take it, and we already know that everything is a lot to take in right now." Gabby agreed with her husband as he told her that, well aware that was the case. "I know that, and I just hope that you know that you can always talk to me if you need to." Mario and Bella just looked at the couple, before taking individual breaths as they realized that maybe they weren't ready to get many visits. "Mr. and Ms. Casey, if you want us to leave; then we can leave." Turning his head, Matt sighed as he knew that this is hard. "I just hate that you guys drove all the way here for a two-minute stay." Mario shook his head. "We're on our way out to lunch and the beach, you were on our way." Matt and Gabby both agreed when he said that.
"Well, we're glad that you guys visited."
Bella agreed with Gabby as she said that, while smiling at her. "It's no problem. And the truth is, we've been meaning to come for a while; we just want to remind you guys that you have a lot of people thinking of you, including all of the staff at the office. Sure, we may not be the best of friends yet; but we are a family, like was said in the press conference." Mario agreed with his wife as she said that, as that most certainly was the truth. "I can concur with my wife as she said that, as that most certainly is the truth." Bella smiled as she heard her husband say that, before reaching over to grabbing his hand; after which, she smiled as she held his hand and just held the man she loves close to her. "And we're going to be having fun, because we just need a break right now." Gabby agreed.
"Let me guess, a lot of stress at the office."
Bella nodded. "We are all sad, and just feeling horrible. So if you ever thing that you aren't in our minds each and every day, then you most certainly are wrong Mr. and Ms. Casey." Matt and Gabby both smiled as they both held their family close to them, while enjoying a bit of time with their friends and employees; some which they can stand right now. "Well listen, I hope you guys enjoy the flowers; and I hope you also take it easy, and just take advantage of this time you guys can relax. We have the company under control." Matt laughed as he heard Mario say that. "Rafael told me the same thing." Mario smiled as he heard Matt say that, before getting up so that he and Bella can get out of here; after all, that's what they need to do right now. They need to give the family some time alone.
Making their way out of the hospital hand-in-hand, Mario, and Bella both let out some sighs as they couldn't help but think about how horrible they felt for their bosses. "I swear, there are times where I always wonder whether the universe is out to get them." Bella agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Well, I can't deny that isn't something that isn't on my mind too; because they really need a break, and they need to take it easy. I'm glad they have their sons there with them at least." Mario agreed with Bella as she said that, as that was exactly what he was thinking about as well. "Yeah, I can see that already makes them happier; but I just hope that's something that they can keep, because they really should have their kids with them." Bella agreed.
After all, there are a lot of things that can make them feel better; and their kids most certainly is one of those things. "I think that would be what I want, if we were in their situation." Bella agreed, before taking a breath. "Just curious, when are we going to start trying Mario?" Turning his head, he looked down at his wife and smiled. "I thought that we were already trying?" Smiling as she looked up at the man she loves, Bella agreed. "So, you're okay if we get pregnant?" Wrapping his arm around his wife, Mario smirked as he most certainly is more than okay with the two of them getting pregnant. "Is that really a question? I am more than okay with us getting pregnant with our child whenever it happens." Bella smiled as she wrapped her arm around his back, wanting the same thing.
After which, Mario wrapped his arm around her lower back and turned his head to kiss the side of her head. "What do you want?" Smiling, Bella smirked. "I want to see you having a daughter first." Mario smirked as he heard Bella say that, as that most certainly is something that he wants. "I feel the same way, but I will not be mad if we have a son first." Bella agreed. "Just no twins, I am not sure whether I could deal with that." Mario smirked as he un-wrapped his arm from around her waist, before grabbing her hand; after which, he intertwined their fingers. "Ah, I think we could do it." Bella agreed with the man she loves as he told her that, while wrapping her arms around his arm and turning her head to kiss it softly; after which, she told him what was on her mind.
"I think you're going to be a great dad."
Smiling as he heard Bella say that, Mario kissed the top of her head. "And I think that you're going to be a great mom. I can't wait to see it, and I just hope that it happens soon." Bella agreed with Mario as he said that, as that most certainly is exactly how she feels as well. "Well, are we going to the beach right away? Or do you want to stop somewhere to get some lunch? Or are we headed home?" Bella smirked. "Oh, we're going to the beach to have some lunch. I want to have some lunch on the beach with my husband." Mario agreed with Bella as she told him that, while also making their way over to their car so that they can make their way to the beach together; which is where they're going to have a nice date with each other, starting with a really nice lunch.
