Hi Readers: Sorry for another delay in between chapters. Don't think I'm going to be getting many out to you as this is just the second chapter that I am posting for you guys, and I really hate that. But it's due to the fact that I got distracted today, and my head just hasn't been in it recently. But I promise that things will get better, and I am going to concentrate on this right now. Now, back to it.
Quick Note: I know earlier in the story; I mentioned that Nancy Casey's last name is now Mathies. But I have decided to change it back to Casey for the company. She wants to be part of the Casey Family, and no longer have the merged name. Thanks for understanding.
Chapter Two Hundred and Ninety-Seven
Now If That Isn't The Truth
She ended up startling them as she walked into their hospital suite today, as Matt and Gabby (obviously) didn't expect any visitors today; and that was just made even more clear as the mother watched as he son got up out of bed and put his shirt on this morning. "I'm so sorry. I know, I probably should've called." Shaking his head, Matt smiled at his mother as she most certainly did not have to call when she wants to come visit. "Mom, nonsense. You're family and you can always come visit us anywhere." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, before smiling as she walked up to him. Hugging him, Nancy rubbed Matt's back before whispering in his ear. "How are you doing Matt?" Smiling as he leaned back, Matt looked at his mother. "Much better than I was earlier this morning."
Gabby sighed as she heard her husband say that, well aware of what he was talking about; she just didn't know whether he was going to want to talk about it with his mother. But he seems to want to do just that, so Gabby decided to let him. "Is everything okay Matt?" Matt agreed with his mother, seeing that she was starting to get worried that something was wrong. "Oh, yes. I promise, everything's okay mom; I just had to go to the doctor today." Taking a breath as she looked at her son, Nancy still wasn't convinced that he was okay. "You sure Matt?" Taking a breath as well, Gabby decided to tell Nancy what happened this morning. "Nancy, you can trust Matt when he says that he's okay; he just went to his PTSD specialist and got a new prescription for his medication." Nancy agreed.
"Oh, well I'm sure that must help you with all the stress that you were under."
Matt agreed with his mom as she said that, while smiling at her; at the same time, Nancy proceeded to walk over to her grandsons as they played in the play pen that they have set up. "Hello, you little handsome ones, grandma missed you last night." Smiling as he heard his mother say that, Matt turned to look at his beautiful wife as he flashed her a smile; while at the same time, he watched as she tried to get up so that she could hug his mother. "Hey, hey…Gabby stay down, not yet." Walking around their bed, Matt went ahead and stopped his wife from going too fast; after all, she's still recovering from giving birth and still needs to make sure that she takes it easy when it comes to how she moves around both in and out of bed. "Matt, I got it." Matt just agreed with his wife.
After which, he calmed down and took a breath as he didn't want to make her feel like she can't do things; after all, Gabby is the strongest woman he's ever met. And if she tells him that she can do something, then he believes her. He believes that she can do it, and he lets her do it to the best of her abilities. And right now, she did; but that didn't mean that Matt still wasn't watching her like a hawk. "Just remember to take it easy Gabby." Looking at Matt as he said that, Gabby put her hand on his chest and got close to him; after which, she put her hand on his cheek and leaned in to kiss him softly. After which, she started to take things slow with him. "Baby, take a breath and just relax. I promise that I'm okay, and that I can take care of myself." Matt agreed with his wife.
"Okay, if you say so. You just know me, worried and everything after all of this stuff."
Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case; after all, she sees how he always watches her whenever she's out of bed. And that's why she knows that she needs to take it easy, and just relax as she makes her way over to Nancy so that she can hug her. "I see someone is happy to be up and out of bed." Gabby agreed with Nancy as she said that, as that most certainly is the truth; she's more than happy to be out of bed, simply due to the fact that it feels nice to move once more. "It feels nice to move, get some stretching in and stuff." Nancy agreed with her daughter-in-law as she said that, before going to hug her; after which, she just smiled as it felt nice to hug her. "How are you doing Gabby?" Gabby smiled as she leaned back and looked at her mother-in-law.
After which, she turned her head and looked at the man of her dreams (as she knew that he was wondering the same thing). "Based on everything that we're dealing with, I would have to say that I'm doing a lot better than I've ever expected. I am so glad that this is where we are right now, and I just love the fact that we're currently a family of six." And as always, that was when Andy barked. Turning her head, Gabby shook her head. "My apologies Andy, I meant a family of seven." Laughing as he heard Gabby say that, Matt made his way over to her and put his hand on her back as his way to tell her to relax; at the same time, he also hugged his mother while kissing her cheek. "How are you mom?" Nancy smiled. "Much better, and happy to visit." Matt agreed with his mother.
"We all love it when you visit, because it's a nice feeling to have you here with us. Sorry about the attire."
Nancy shook her head as she heard her son say that, as that was the last thing that she wanted her son to worry about; rather, she just wants him to concentrate on getting better and taking it easy with his family. He's under enough stress and problems as it is, that she just wants the best for him. "Well, I'm more than okay with you being comfortable Matt. That's all that matters at the end of the day, that you're comfortable and with your family." Matt agreed with his mother as she said that, smiling due to the fact that this really is exactly what he wants to be wearing with his family right now. He wants to just hold them close and take it easy as a family of six. "Well, I most definitely am comfortable for what it matters." Nancy agreed with her son, and smiled at him as he was relaxed.
At the same time, she also knew that her daughter-in-law should not be standing. "However, I'm surprised that you allowed your wife to stand. Last time I checked, mothers are supposed to rest after giving birth to their second set of twins in the same year." Gabby agreed with her mother-in-law as she said that, before moving to hug her; after all, that was exactly what they both wanted her to do right now. They wanted to hug each other, and just be happy with each other. "Always a pleasure to have you here Nancy." Nancy agreed with her daughter-in-law, before letting her go. "Listen, go lay down in bed and take it easy. I need to do some things." Matt was confused as he heard his mother say that, unsure of just what she needed to do; after all, she is just visiting right now.
"What do you need to do mom?"
Smiling as she looked at her son, Nancy proceeded to grab his hand and hold it. "Well, I do want to touch my granddaughters if I can; and that means that I need to wash my hands, and make sure that I'm all safe around them." Matt smiled as he heard his mom say that, glad that she was going to do that. "Thanks mom." Nancy shook her head, as she didn't need a thanks for it. "Matt, there's no need to thank me for doing the right thing; plus, I've been a mother before and I understand the worries that come with having children in the PICU." Matt was confused as he heard his mother say that. "PICU? Me and Christie?" Nancy sighed as she looked at her son. "You know what, forget I said anything." Nancy then proceeded to walk away, out into the main area to wash her hands.
But Matt didn't plan on letting his mother off that easy, so he turned to look at Gabby; and the moment he did that, she just knew what he wanted to go. "Go ahead Matt, because I think that's what you need to do right now." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, as it most certainly is exactly what he needs to do; he needs to go talk to his mother and see just what the heck is going on right now. If she's not okay, then he wants to know what's going on. She's his mother and that means that he worries for her all the time.
Walking out to the kitchen area of his and Gabby's hospital suite, Matt looked at his mother as he wasn't going to let her get away with this; she was going to talk to him, and he was going to make sure that she was okay before anything. He just hopes that his mother can and will open up to him, because she can tell him anything. "Mom?" Turning to look at her son, Nancy Casey took a breath and just knew now that she was going to have to open up to him. "Mom, what's going on? And if you think that you can get out of this, then you're dreaming; because I can see that something's wrong, and I want you to talk to me. What's this about me being in the PICU?" Nancy sighed as she looked at her son, hating that this is what she has to tell him; but at the same time, he has a right to know.
"It was from a long time ago, when you were kids."
Matt just looked at his mom as she said that, starting to realize what she was talking about. "Mom, is it related to dad abusing us?" Taking a breath, Nancy looked down. "I hoped you'd never find out." Matt agreed with his mother as she said that, clearly able to see that was the case. He then proceeded to hug her and just took a breath. "Mom, you know that you can always talk to me; I mean it. I want to help you through this, because we both experienced it. This isn't something that you need to do with alone. I promise mom." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know, it's just a lot to deal with." Matt agreed with his mother as she said that. "And you don't think I know that mom? Mom, I see how you still deal with it every day." Nancy was shocked.
"You do?"
Matt agreed with his mother, because he knows the pain that comes with having to live with the memories. "Mom, you don't think I see how you act? Mom, you act the same way as me sometimes." Stepping close to his mother, Matt wrapped his arm around her waist while also putting his hand on the side of her face; after which, he proceeded to kiss her forehead softly. "Mom, you have a lot on your mind. And I want you to know that you can always talk to me. It's me mom, and I will always be here to help you." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, before moving to hug him. "I know that Matt, and I am so glad that's the case." Matt smiled as his mom said that. At the same time, he hugged her again. "So, how about you sit down, and we can talk?" Nancy agreed and smiled.
After which, she came to join her son and his wife in their hospital room so that they can all talk about how things are going here.
Quick Note to Readers:
While originally, I was planning on writing the hospital time. I find myself being limited in what I can write. So, I unfortunately have decided to do something. And just what might that be? Well, I plan on skipping past the hospital time and just head back home. But that doesn't mean that I'm not going to tell you about some times that we have as a family. But rather than do it in chapters, I am going to do it in the form of journals. Hope you guys like them. Thanks again for reading, and I hope you continue to enjoy.
