A.N. — The first of the 40 1-A/1-B cohort arrives today, and it's one of the more unique individuals. As a Pro, I think he could go far in ability, but be held back by appearance and attitude.

7. Togaru Kamakiri/Jack Mantis

For a hero in training, Togaru has a pretty violent disposition. But he'd argue he was just keeping his resolve as honed as his blades.

With an appearance befitting a horror movie monster, Jack Mantis felt he had to play into that aspect of himself for his hero persona. Yes, he liked fighting, and felt more alive when his adrenaline was surging. But he also put careful thought into each swing of steel. If Togaru shaped it wrong as it emerged from his flesh, he could cut himself. He had to keep himself sharp, because his edges were even sharper.
