A.N. — And now for the more tragic, pitiable part of this pair. Another parent is coming up on the 16th, the next claimed day in the schedule. Also, AO3 is having downtime, so this chapter is premiering here first for once.
13. Eri's Father
Eri's horn has been growing, her father notices, and not at a normal childhood rate either. It swells at the base, protruding higher every day. Little wrinkle lines mar Eri's forehead, like his daughter is constantly fretting over some worry. So, he goes to brush a gentle hand over her brow, to check for fever and maybe see if the horn responds, too.
He never expected for it to start glowing the moment his finger came in contact with it, though.
As the whiteness envelops him, he tries to smile for Eri's sake. By her rictus, he knows he failed.
A.N. 2 — It's annoying writing around characters with no canon names. And just giving them one would cause confusion, 'cause I don't have room to explain and tell a story in the 100 word constraint.
