Hi Readers: I want to apologize for the long delay in between chapters, but I have been a bit lazy today for some reason. But now, I hope to kick it into high gear to get some nice quality chapters out to you guys. Hope you like them.
Chapter Three Hundred and Nine
Do the Changes (and the Email) Make Sense?
Home of Antonio Dawson - The brother and uncle pretty much already knew the exact reason why he was being called this morning, and that would be regarding the e-mail which he (and the rest of the company) just received; and that was why Antonio Dawson was more than happy to answer the call, as he sat down in his home office while using his computer. "I can only assume that this phone call is about the e-mail that I just received?" Hearing his brother-in-law snicker as he heard him ask that question, Antonio just knew right then and there that it most certainly was the exact reason why he was being called today. "You know me too well Dawson." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that, while also opening the e-mail once more so that he can have it in front of him to read it.
"By the way, been meaning to send you this. Thank you so much for letting us bring some technology home, I already love using a second screen to read my e-mails."
Matt laughed as he heard Antonio say that, as he felt the same way; in fact, he's surprised that people don't use two screens to do their work. "Oh, I absolutely hate it. It's why I rarely work in bed, due to the fact that I feel like I need to have two screens." Antonio was highly suspicious as he heard Matt say that, as he knew that there was another reason why Matt didn't work in bed. "Well, I think that there's really another reason why you don't work inn bed; a reason which is related to the fact that your wife hates it when you work in bed, and you're scared to make her mad." Gabby snickered as she heard her brother say that. "Actually, we both work in bed. I mean, I don't want to be a hypocrite." Antonio was a bit confused as he heard Gabby say that, unsure of what she meant by that.
"Okay, I'm going to play dumb right now; and I am going to just ask this, because I am really unsure of just what you mean. How exactly would you be a hypocrite if you don't want Matt to work in bed?"
Gabby snickered as she heard her brother say that once more, before going to point out the obvious. "Antonio, I always work in bed." Antonio was still confused when he heard his sister say that, so he just stayed quiet so that Gabby could fill him in. "Hello, where do I do my best when it comes to designing? Sure, I could work at a desk…but I am much more comfortable, especially when I'm also feeding the girls." Antonio agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case; and that's when he decided to ask his sister how she and the girls are, especially now that they're home. "Speaking of which, how are the girls doing? And the boys? Are they happy to have their parents and sisters home?" Matt snickered as he asked that question, as his sons don't really know.
"The girls are doing good in their cribs. The boys are fine and healthy, and love having their parents home; but I am not too sure whether they've even realized that they have sisters now."
Antonio agreed with his brother-in-law as he said that, understanding why that would be the case; after all, there was no way for them to really understand all of this. "I just hope that they don't remember much of the first year of their life." Gabby was a bit confused as she heard Antonio say that, unsure of why he would even say such a thing. "Okay, why? I mean, I want them to remember some of their youth; I know that I don't remember it, but wouldn't you want to remember some of this time?" Antonio sighed as he heard his sister say that, before pulling his attention away from the screen. He then went to grab his phone and held it close as he leaned back in his chair while speaking to his brother; after all, he hates that he even has to point this out. But apparently, he does have to.
"Because I am not sure that we want the boys to remember how their mom had to be in the hospital after their sisters were born, as that can bring up a lot of questions; questions that I would rather you not have to deal with in the future Gabby."
Gabby agreed with her brother as he said that, as that most certainly is the truth. "Yeah, that makes sense." Antonio then continued. "And I also don't want the boys to have to deal with the bad memories of COVID. Hopefully it's nice and short, and we can just laugh." Antonio sighed as his sister said that, as that most certainly is not what he's been thinking; and there's a reason why he knows this, which is related to the fact that he has a new girlfriend whose been telling him about some things. And those things include things that most definitely make him worried, and it's why he made sure that this daughter moved back in with him. "Gabby, I hate to say this; but you may want to relax when it comes to your hopes." Gabby took a breath as she heard her brother say that.
"What are you talking about Antonio? Well, I hope you know that you don't plan on keeping that quiet. You've teased me, and I want to know just what you're talking about now."
Antonio agreed with his sister as she said that. "Well first, let me say this. I recently started dating someone new." Gabby was shocked as she heard her brother say that. "So, things are over between you and Emily?" Antonio sighed. "She got a job in San Francisco with the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. She's the new head of the Post-Conviction Advocacy Project, or the Innocence Project in the bay area. And I knew that one was too good to pass up, so we both agreed to break up mutually." Gabby agreed with her brother. "Well, I respect that Antonio. But now, about this new woman in your life?" Antonio smiled. "Well, her name is Dr. Sascha Moore; and she's an immunologist at the University of Hawaii." Gabby agreed with her brother, as she now knew his source.
And unfortunately, that source is not giving him the best outlook. "And from her experience with H1N1 and having done an internship in 2009 at the University of California at San Francisco; she's not sure that this is going to be short, which means that we're going to be in this for the long run." Taking a breath as he heard Antonio say that, Matt just agreed with him. "Okay, we'll deal with it and figure things out as we go. But listen, I need to talk to you about something. And that would be the e-mail that I sent you." Antonio agreed with his brother-in-law as he said that, while going to look at the e-mail once again. "Well, what are you thinking?" Matt sighed. "I just want you to tell me what you think of the changes." Antonio agreed with Matt, before going to open the e-mail once more.
FROM: Casey, Matthew
TO: Members of the Board; Senior Executives
CC: Chicago Office; Hawaii Office; Los Angeles Office
SUBJECT: New Corporate Arrangements
Hi Everybody:
I want to write you all today about something that I have recently decided to do, and that would be a corporate restructuring; and that's due to the fact that I find myself wanting to worry less about some parts of the company, and more on the others. And that's why these decisions are being made. However, I can also reassure you all that we aren't firing anybody, but we are just making some changes. Changes that are going to make my life easier, as it's going to allow me to concentrate on the divisions that I really like more; and just be even more hands on that I am. Now, here we go. First of all, I am going to announce this. Today, I am going to be creating two new companies. And I know that's completely against what I just said, as that would mean more work. But it doesn't.
And that's due to the fact that both of the companies will be divisions of a Casey umbrella company, and they will also take the place of Casey Fire, Casey Police, Casey Health, and Casey Creations as the four main divisions of the company. Rather, we will be slimming the company down to two divisions known as CCF Innovations, and CHP Innovations. And this is how we're going to do that:
CCF Innovations and CHP Innovations, along with CFR Training will become three divisions of Casey. However, CFR Training will remain as is, and no changes will be made to the company. Rather, it will just be a company in the middle of the other ones.
CCF Innovations will become the new "owner" of Casey Creations and Casey Fire. And I, Matthew Casey, will be in charge of leading CCF Innovations as it's Chief Executive Officer. Meanwhile, the other officers will retain their positions as they are.
CHP Innovations will become the new "owner" of Casey Health and Casey Police. And Mr. Solano will be in charge of leading CHP Innovations as it's Chief Executive Officer, while a majority of the other officers will retain their positions as they are.
But that's not all Mr. Solano will be in charge of, as I am also putting him in charge of being the liaison to the Los Angeles Office. Therefore, I will please ask that David Isaacs, the Senior Executive Vice-President, and Asst. Deputy CEO for the Los Angeles Office to begin reporting to Mr. Solano. At the same time, I will ask that Adam Michaels, the Senior EVP, and Asst. Deputy CEO for the Chicago Office to continue reporting to myself; because I am going to continue to be in charge of the Chicago office, as it's my hometown.
And while these changes are minor, I hope that you all understand why I need to do that; and that's due to the fact that I Just need to concentrate on the parts of the company that I most understand. And for myself, that would be to lead CCF Innovations along with Gabby and Severide. Now, can you please e-mail or text me if you have questions; or at least text your supervisors, as I am busy.
After all, I did just bring a couple adorable baby girls home from the hospital and we are both quite tired. Thanks for understanding, and I hope to hear back what you guys think about the new changes when you've had a chance to experience them.

As he read the e-mail once again, Antonio took a breath as he decided to ask some questions. "Okay, are you guys okay with me asking some questions? I know that I should be happy with just getting an e-mail, but I think that I have some questions." Matt agreed with Antonio as he said that, well aware that he may have some questions. "And that's why I am calling you, as I want you to know everything that you need to know. And if there are things that I can send to the rest of the company, who may have the same questions; then I will most certainly do just that, but I hope that you can just tell me what you're thinking right now?" Antonio agreed as he read the e-mail. "Well, first of all…I want to ask you whether we are still one company?" Matt agreed with Antonio.
As that most certainly is the case, they are still one company. "Yes, we are still one company. But rather than have us have to work as one big company all the time, we can work independently of each other. But I'm just going to be in charge of CCF Innovations which is Casey Creations, and Casey Fire. Meanwhile, Rafael is going to be in charge of CHP Innovations, which is Casey Therapy, and Casey Police. So instead of reporting to me, you report to Rafael." Antonio agreed with his brother-in-law as he said that. "And then he reports to you as owner?" Matt was unsure as he didn't know that part yet. "We would still have an entire board, and we would report to that. But I think that he will report to me. I just don't want to have to concentrate on too much, as I want to do projects."
Antonio was a bit surprised as he heard Matt say that. "Wait, you want to start doing your own projects?" Matt agreed with Antonio as he asked him that. "Of course, I want to do my own projects, because this is my money. Heck, I've barely done projects myself; rather, I have been delegating some projects that I have expertise in, and trying to work on things that I am not an expert on. I think I might try and help with two things. First, Casey Fire; and then I might also try and help with a bit of Casey Mental Health with PTSD." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that. "How is your PTSD doing anyways? Has it gotten worse while we're in isolation?" Gabby then went to answer that question on Matt's behalf. "We aren't sure yet, as we just got home Antonio." Antonio agreed with his sister.
"Yeah, that make sense. I'm just glad that you guys are finally home, because we both know that it's where you belong."
Gabby agreed with her brother as he said that, as that most certainly is the truth. "And I am so happy that you're finally home. But that doesn't mean that I don't plan on working, as I want to try and do some designing." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "And you most certainly will do some designing, as I am going to make sure that you do that. I know that you want to really work on your designs, and we will do just that. But at the same time, you need to relax and take it easy as much as you can; because as much as you recovered in the hospital over the past three months, I still want you to relax and just take it easy here in bed for a while." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that, as that most certainly is something that he wants his sister to do as well; he wants her to relax.
"I think that you need to listen to your husband there Gabby, because he's saying the right things."
Gabby laughed as she heard her brother say that. "Finally, I can get my brother and husband to be on the same page without begging them to be on the same page." Antonio agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Well, I sure am glad that we're on the same page; and I know that you're stressed at the moment, and I just want to make sure that you take it easy…especially when you guys just got home." Gabby agreed with her brother as he said that, as that most certainly is the truth. "Yeah, and I am so glad that we're home." That's when Eva heard her aunt speaking over the phone. "Is that Tia Gabby?" Turning his head, Antonio agreed with Eva as it was. "Yes, it is. Want to come say hi?" Eva agreed with her father, before going to grab a chair to sir with him.
Sitting down next to her father, Eva smiled as she proceeded to speak to her aunt. "So, you're home now; right Tia Gabby and Tio Matt?" Matt agreed with his niece as she asked them whether they're home, as they most certainly are. "And you have no idea just how nice it is to be home with Gabby and the kids." Eva agreed with her uncle, before taking a breath. "I just hate that it happened right when COVID hit, as I would love to come see you guys." Matt agreed with Eva as she said that, well aware that was the case. "I know Eva, but you need to remember that this is the right thing to do both for yourself; and of course, for your cousins as they can get really sick if you get it and then transmit it to us. Add in your abuela too." Antonio agreed with Matt as he said that and sighed.
And that's when he thought of something. "Okay, that brings something up. If you guys want to keep us away from the kids, then Gabby…" Gabby agreed with her brother. "What is it Toni?" Antonio sighed. "Gabby, I love you. And I will support your decision. But I am not going to be your mouthpiece and break that news." Gabby was confused as she heard her brother say that. "What are you talki….oh…" Antonio agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Yeah. I love you. But if me and my daughter can't come see those adorable nieces of mine, then that means our dad can't too. And I AM NOT going to be the one to break that news to him, not when I have to live with him; and when our mother can see the kids anytime she wants. So, either take dad in or change your plans." Gabby sighed.
Casey Home – They just finished speaking to Gabby's brother this afternoon, as Matt reached over and set his phone down on his charger once more; after which, he proceeded to wrap his arm around Gabby once again. After all, that was exactly what she needed right now. She needs to be held by her husband, and she needs to cuddle up to him as she thinks about what her brother just said; and Matt couldn't help but feel horrible over what all this means, and all the decisions that they had to make. The decisions related to the health of their family, which are made due to the pandemic. And there was a real big one that was currently on Gabby's mind as he climbed back into bed with her after checking on the girls, who were still fast asleep. "Well, I think that we both know what you need."
Looking up at her husband, Gabby took a breath as she hated that this is what she was doing. She didn't want to feel bad about this, not when there are so many other people who have it worse. After all, she has her family close by. She can literally be at their home within 10-15 minutes. Other people have family who are hours, or even days away by care and can't really be close to them at all during COVID; sometimes even due to borders, as the US-Canada Border has been closed down for the sake of the health of both of the countries. But her, she just can't see her father due to the fact that it's not safe. And that really hurts, which is why Matt is currently in the midst of sitting down next to his wife and extending his hand out to her. "Hey, did you hear what I just said to you?"
Grabbing Matt's hand, Gabby looked up at him and took a breath due to the fact that she has a lot on her mind at the moment. And that would be related to the pandemic, and her father. "You okay Gabby?" Taking a breath, Gabby shook her head as Matt asked her whether she was okay; because she most certainly was not okay, and that was due to the fact that she wasn't going to be able to see her father. And Matt already knew that was on her mind at the moment. "Do you want me to join you in bed, so that we can hold each other?" Taking a breath, Gabby nodded as that was exactly what she wanted. "How are the girls first? They okay?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she asked him whether the girls are okay, because they most certainly are okay right now, all safe in their cribs.
"The girls are fine and are all safe in their cribs. Now, about what you want. Do you want me to get in bed and hold you in my arms?"
Gabby agreed with Matt, as that most certainly is exactly what she wants; she wants her husband to join her in bed and hold her close. "I want that more than anything. I want you to climb into bed with me, and then I can cuddle up to you in bed here." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before smiling as he got up again; after which, he proceeded to climb into bed with the most beautiful woman in the entire world. His beautiful wife, Gabriela Marie Casey. "Did I ever tell you that you're the most beautiful woman in the entire world?" Gabby smiled as Matt told her that she's beautiful, and she just loved the sound of that. "Thanks baby.." Sitting in bed, Matt smiled as he went to stretch at bit before laying down next to his wife; after which, he closed the covers on top of them.
Slipping close to his beautiful wife in due course, Matt slipped his arm under Gabby's head while putting his hand on her back; at the same time, Gabby put her hands on his face and stared into her eyes. "I'm so happy that we're home." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as that most certainly is the truth. He's happy to be home with the girls, and his gorgeous wife. After which, he smiled as he stared into her eyes and kissed her softly. "I love you Matt." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "I love you too, but I think we both know that we need to talk right now as you have something on your mind." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Well, we need to talk about how we need to stay safe." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that's the truth.
"Gabby, you know that I love you; and that I would never say anything to hurt you, right?"
Gabby sighed as she heard Matt say that, as she already knew where this conversation was headed. "Okay, let's have it." Matt was a bit taken aback as he heard Gabby say that, unsure of what she means. "Okay, what do you mean by that?" Gabby sighed. "We both know that you want to lecture me on what we need to do." Matt snickered as he heard Gabby say that. "I don't know if lecture would be the right word because of who my wife is." Gabby snickered as she heard Matt say that, because that most certainly is the truth. "Hey, you love my independent mind." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as he most certainly does. "Oh, you know I do." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before leaning in and kissing the mans he loves once more; and boy, does she love kissing her husband.
He just kisses her the best way possible, and she's incredibly proud over the fact that he's her husband. "God, I love having you as my husband. But now, we need to talk about what you want to talk to me about." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that most certainly is exactly what he needs to do. But at the same time, he also needs to do something else; and that would be to check on the boys, who are still in their play pen. "Just to let you know, the boys are okay." Rolling over for a moment, Gabby smiled as she looked at their young sons. "God, they are so adorable." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Now listen, about what we need to talk about. Gabby, we need to be safe and that means that we need to stay here at home." Gabby agreed.
After which, she just stared into his eyes and just smiled as she leaned in and kissed her man softly; because that was something else that she wanted to do, share another kiss with the man she loves. But now, they also need to talk. "Gabby, I love you; but in this case, I need to do something that you're going to hate. And that's keep your family away, for the safety of our family. It's not because I don't love them, because I do. They have been such a great help with the boys, and I am so glad that they are doing this for us; and I am so glad that we have such a great relationship." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "But when it comes to keeping our kids safe from this, that means that we need to whatever we have to do." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, as that was the truth.
She then proceeded to lean in and kiss her husband once more. "God, I love you so much; and you truly are an incredible father." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Now, about what we need to do; we need to just stay here, and we need to concentrate on each other and our family. Plus, we have our daughters and sons here with us." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, while also turning her head to look at their little boys; after which, Matt proceeded his lips against her forehead. "This is our dream life, and I am so glad that we have it." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, because that most certainly is exactly what they have. They have an incredible life, with very beautiful children. "These kids, and you are my dream come true." Matt agreed with Gabby and smiled.
"And that's why I'm more than okay with it just being the six of us, as we isolate."
Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before starting to hear her stomach grumble. "Oh c'mon, now?" Matt agreed with Gabby as he kissed her forehead softly. "Want me to go make us some sandwiches?" Gabby agreed with her husband again, before taking a breath. "At the same time, can you ask our moms to take care of the boys for a bit? I miss our alone time. I love spending time as a family but…" Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, before kissing her forehead softly. He then got up and smiled as he proceeded to look at his little boys. "I'm going to take the boys out to the living room and ask our family to take care of them. I think we need that." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she feels the same way about that. "Thanks baby." Matt smiled and agreed with Gabby.
After which, he walked over to his dresser and proceeded to grab his shirt; that was, until he heard Gabby's mom at the door. "Oh, are you coming to get some lunch?" Turning his head, Matt laughed. "I was about to do just that actually." Camila smiled. "I was just about to ask; I'm going to make sandwiches if you want any." Gabby smiled, as that sounded great. "Mom, I'd love that; but can you do something else for us at the same time?" Camila was a bit confused as she heard her daughter ask her that. "What would that be sweetheart?" Gabby sighed. "Do you mind taking the boys for a while? I think I just want to take it easy and relax with Matt for a bit." Camila smiled as she heard her daughter say that. "Of course, sweetheart, I think that most certainly is what you need to do."
Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before smiling as he turned his head to look at his beautiful wife. "I am going to go make us lunch and put Andy out, okay?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "Of course, baby." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before walking over to his beautiful wife; after which, he leaned over her and kissed her softly. "See you soon okay?" Gabby agreed with Matt as she put her hand on his face and proceeded to take things nice and slow with the woman he loves. After which, she proceeded to look into his eyes. "Just make me something simple, no spices. I'm not ready to eat spices yet." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, well aware that was the case. After which, he turned around and looked Noah before going to pick him up.
After which, he looked at Camila and smiled. "How about you take a quick peak at the girls? Then you can come join me in the kitchen as we make lunch." Camila agreed with Matt as he said that, as that most certainly is something that she wants to do, while also moving to pick Matteo up in her arms. "See you later babe." Matt then turned to look at Andy. "Andy, c'mon boy! Let's go to the washroom." Andy agreed with Matt as he got up, before walking away so that he can go to the washroom while he makes lunch. At the same time, Gabby smiled as she looked at her mother and went to thank her for what she's going to do for them. "Mom, you have no idea how much it means to me that you're going to give us time to relax after you've already done so much for us."
Sitting down at the end of her daughter's bed with Matteo in her arms, Camila Vergel smiled as she looked at her daughter. "I think I know why you need some time alone with your husband." Taking a breath, Gabby agreed as she most certainly does need some time alone with her husband. "Listen, I love spending time with the boys; but I think I just want some quiet time, alone time with my husband. We didn't really get that on our anniversary, and I think I just need time with Matt right now." Camila agreed with her daughter as she said that, as that most certainly makes sense. "That makes complete sense Gabby, and I am so glad that you're going to take some time with your husband." Gabby agreed with her mom as she said that, as she had other ideas for what she'll do.
"I think I want to take a bath too, and that means that I can't have the boys in here."
Camila was a bit confused as she heard her daughter say that, as she wasn't sure what she meant; until she realized what she meant, or she thought she did. "Gabby! Already?" Gabby then realized what her mom thought. "Oh, I just mean that I want to take a bath with Matt; and I want a nice massage, as I am so tense recently." Camila agreed with her daughter, before going to grab her hand. "Well, I think I understand that. You need to take it easy, and you need to relax and just take it easy for a while." Gabby took a breath, before looking at her mom. "And I think me, and Matt need to talk, while not scaring the kids. There's just a lot we haven't talked about yet, and I want to be with my husband." Camila nodded. "Maybe Matt can come help me when you take a nap."
Gabby agreed with her mom, as she most certainly believes that can happen. "I think that can happen." Camila agreed with her daughter as she said that, before smiling as she went to hug her. "I'm just glad that you're home and taking it easy right now." Gabby agreed with her mom as she said that. "Me too mom, me too."
