A.N. — Normally, I like doing different types of characters on back to back days: villain to a hero, male to a female, adult to teen, etc. Well, today is a prison guard whose head looks remarkably similar to yesterday's fellow. Today's drabble could be titled, "Seconds before disaster," but let's save that for his brother's drabble.
22. Briareos
From behind his full-face helmet, Briareos enjoyed sneering at the incarcerated denizens of Tartarus, knowing they couldn't see him doing it yet also knowing they knew full well what he was doing anyway. It was one of the few perks of his guard job, the other being working with his brother. And, if the prisoners were too thick to understand, well... Briareos had ten hands, and a different rude gesture he could make with each one of them.
But gate duty, even with Gyges, was when the job truly sucked. It made him feel as captive as the villains.
