Hi Readers: Well, I think we both know that Mario and Bella Jacobs are more than ready to have a family; especially after learning t hat their friends Ryan and Sarah Miller are having a baby, or should it be babies. Let me know what you think in the comments when it comes to what you guys want for Ryan and Sarah, and how many babies you want for them; and maybe whether the Caseys and/or Halsteads should give them clothes. After all, we are two months away from meeting a certain Halstead baby boy named Owen. Yes, sorry for the spoiler; but I decided to make Owen Will and Natalie's son, like in the show. Hope you guys like that idea and the rest of the story. The story that will now continue with our main couple, who just so happen to be getting ready to have a meal at home.
Chapter Three Hundred and Seventeen
Welcome Home Wishes and Steaks
Casey Home, Maunalua Bay – Now this was one of the times where he was always brought back down to earth, when he was cooking for his family, which is exactly what Matt Casey is currently in the midst of doing, as he stood at the barbecue while making some steaks for him, Gabby, and their moms. And maybe, the boys; they aren't exactly sure what they're going to do with the boys yet, all Matt knows is that he's really excited to have a home cooked meal for the first time in a while. And even better, it's a home cooked meal that he's making for his wife; because that's something that he hasn't done in a while, which is why he decided to do it. Even though his mother-in-law offered, after she finished talking to Gabby (before she fell asleep). And the truth was, Matt was glad.
He was glad that she fell asleep, as that was what his wife needed right now. She needed to take a nap, and just get rest; because even though she did rest in the hospital, it wasn't the type of quality rest that she needed. Rest that she can really only get here, where she's nice and relaxed; and just taking it easy, as she lies down in their bed this afternoon. Whether she's still asleep for not is something that he doesn't know, or at least he didn't until now as she just came out of the bedroom to look for her husband. "Matt?" Smiling as he looked up, Matt just loved the sight in front of him. The sight of the woman he loves walking around their home in nothing but a robe and some lingerie. "Over here, at the barbecue babe." Turning around, Gabby took a breath as she saw Matt.
And that's all she needed to do to show her husband that something was wrong, which then led him to setting the tongs down so that he could give his wife his attention. "Hey, you okay?" Taking a breath, Gabby shook her head as she wasn't okay. She wasn't okay, due to the fact that she just had a bad dream; a dream that she wishes she never had, as it was horrible. "Do you want me to stop?" Gabby shook her head, and just made her way over to him so that she could be close to him; so that they could hold each other close, and so that she could breathe. As that's what she needs to do right now. She needs to breathe right now, and just take it easy. And she can only hope that Matt can help her, even though she knows he'll do whatever it takes it help her; especially now that she was here.
Here, in his arms as he held her close; just like she needs him to right now, as he ran his hand up and down her shirt. He then proceeded to whisper to the woman he loves, so that he could make sure that she was okay. "You okay babe? You seem a bit scared." Gabby agreed with Matt, before taking a breath and leaning back so that she could look at the man she loves. "Yeah, bad dream." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before moving his hand to the side of her face; after which, he leaned in and kissed her softly. "Do you want to talk to me about it?" Gabby sighed as that was the real question. Whether she wants to talk to her husband about this dream. "I don't want to, but I know I have to." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before taking a breath and agreeing.
But at the same time, he didn't want to push her to do anything she doesn't want to do yet. "Listen, how about you go sit down and take it easy? The girls are still asleep, and I just put the boys down for their pre-supper nap." Looking up, Gabby agreed with Matt as he is such a good father. And that was exactly what she decided to tell her husband, as she leaned in and kissed him softly. "Such a good daddy." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that. "Well, I've had a lot of practice over the years." Gabby was a bit confused as she heard her husband say that, as they've only had kids for ten months, and eighteen days. "Years of practice? We've only had kids for ten months, and eighteen days?" Matt laughed as he heard Gabby say that, before smiling as he put his hand on her neck.
After which, he leaned in and reminded her of his days as a Captain. "Because being a Lieutenant and a Captain is so damn easy, when I have people like Cruz, Otis, and Kelly working for me." Gabby laughed as she heard Matt say that, before agreeing as she kissed him softly; after which, Matt moved his hand to the side of her face and smiled. "And at one point, my best candidate-turned-firefighter." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, before putting her hands on his chest. "That reminds me, I have a job that I want to create in Casey Fire." Matt was confused as he heard Gabby say that. "I thought you said that you wanted to concentrate on Casey Creations?" Gabby bit her lip. "Okay, its's for a bit of both; can you hear me out?" Matt agreed with his wife and smiled at her.
After which, he kissed her one last time before letting her go. "How about you go sit down? I'll get these steaks cooking and get us some water; then we can sit together and talk about business for a hot minute, as we are on family time." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, while walking away so that she could sit down on the couch. Meanwhile, Matt went to check on the steaks once more; he then proceeded to walk inside so that he could get both himself and Gabby some waters, as they need to stay hydrated. Especially Gabby as she's still recovering from giving birth, and a whole lot more. And that's why he's glad that he's home with her, as he feels like this is still where he needs to be; with his wife, monitoring her as she gets used to being home once more.
Walking out of the house after getting him and Gabby some water, Matt smiled as Gabby looks extremely comfortable there on the couch; the couch where she was currently sitting down, and just taking it easy as she looked out onto the backyard. But at the same time, she was also holding her phone. Why she has her phone out? She has no idea. But, he's going to find out in a minute. "Is there a reason why you have your phone out?" Turning her head as she heard Matt, Gabby smiled as there was. "I'm getting some texts. My dad texted me to check in, as did Herrmann to see how I was now that we're home with the girls; did you tell the firehouse?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she asked him whether he told the firehouse that they were home, as he did because they were worried.
"Boden and Herrmann were both worried when COVID hit, with us being in the hospital; they asked me to text them when we were back home with the girls, so that they knew we were safe and away from the hospital with our little ones."
Gabby agreed with Matt, loving how even from afar Boden and Herrmann still care for the both of them. "I love how our Chicago family still cares for us, even when we're in Hawaii." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before leaning over her so that he could give her water to her; but while he was doing so, he went ahead and kissed the woman he loves softly. "I think that's due to the fact that Boden and Herrmann always saw you as a surrogate daughter, Herrmann especially ever since you became a firefighter." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before going to grab her water and going to take a sip. And that was when she realized that she had her water bottle. "Hey, you brought my water bottle out to me." Matt agreed with Gabby, before smiling at his wife.
"Of course, I did, as you need to stay hydrated baby."
Gabby smiled as he heard Matt say that, while watching as he went to take a quick look at the steaks one last time. "How much longer until you're sitting with me?" Matt smiled. "Why?" Gabby smiled. "I was going to call Boden and Herrmann, plus I want what I should've gotten when I woke up from my nap." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, more than ready and willing to give his wife what she wants; and that would be him holding her in his arms, as they just cuddled up to each other and held each other close for a bit. "I can do that just as soon as I check on these steaks. I don't want them to burn or be ruined because then it would've been a waste of time." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, while also setting up the baby monitor that she brought out with her.
"That one for the girls?"
Turning her head, Gabby agreed. "Who else would it be for?" Seeing that the one he brought out was still here, Matt soon realized that it was for the girls; after which, he showed Gabby that he had the other baby monitor. The one that was connected to the camera that was in the boys' nursery. "I have the one for the boys' nursery here with me." Gabby agreed with Matt, before wondering why he didn't have the girls' one too. "Why didn't you have the one for the girls?" Matt snickered. "Because I have a verbal baby monitor that I can use." Gabby was confused as she heard Matt say that, while looking at her husband. "Hello, you! You would've called out for me and told me the girls woke you up." Laughing, Gabby agreed as she most certainly would've done just that this afternoon.
"Yeah, I definitely would've done just that."
Smiling as he heard Gabby say that, Matt finally made his way over her; leaning over her quickly, Matt smiled as he gave her another kiss which was what Gabby wanted. So much so, that she put her hand on Matt's neck as she took things nice and slow with the man she loves. "Here, sit down with me and hold me in your arms." Matt agreed with Gabby, before setting the baby monitor for the boys down next to the girls' baby monitor; after which, he proceeded to sit down next to Gabby as they both cuddled up to each other. "So, who do you want to call first? Boden or Herrmann?" Wrapping his arm around Gabby, Matt smiled as he turned his head and looked down into her eyes. After which, he bent down and kissed the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world.
And let's just say that Gabby really loved that feeling, because of how sexy her husband is. "Now that's a feeling that I really like." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. After which, he proceeded to kiss her forehead softly as they held each other. "Boden or Herrmann?" Gabby smiled. "Seniority. Boden." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before watching as she opened her phone and then proceeded to look for Boden's number. After which, she hit it with the hopes of calling him. "I think they're on shift today." Thinking about it, Matt agreed as he hoped it was the case. "It's either today or tomorrow." Gabby agreed with Matt, when she heard Boden answer. "Well, if it isn't the couple who are stuck in the sun during COVID." Matt snickered.
"How's COVID lockdown there in Chicago? Or has it hit yet? I forget."
Boden sighed. "We don't have COVID lockdown yet, but we're dealing with it." Gabby agreed. "Hopefully you guys get a good deal." Boden agreed with Gabby. "So, how are you guys? You guys still stuck in the hospital? God, I hope you guys are safe during this." Matt agreed with Boden. "Oh, we are safe and home. We're at home, and out of the hospital." Boden agreed with Matt, glad that was the case. "Good, I am so glad that's the case. By the way, I am so glad that we have that Ambo-Truck! It has been helping us so much, because it's so easy for us to get double the calls. We can have two paramedic teams per shift now!" Matt smiled as he heard Boden say that, as that was something that he loved the sound of; because it means that he created six new jobs, even from afar.
"God, I love the sound of that! Even from here, I created six new jobs!"
Boden and Gabby were both confused as he said that. "What?" Matt smiled. "Three shifts, two paramedics, six paramedics total; all because they have the prototype. I could've gone with a local company here in Hawaii so that I could go see it, but then I created six new jobs in our hometown." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, as that most certainly is the truth. "Yeah, that's the truth." Boden agreed with Matt and Gabby as he said that, because it is the truth. "Hey Chief, did I already give you the shift sheets from last shift?" Smiling, Gabby went to speak to Herrmann. "Hey Herrmann, that you?" Boden then went ahead and put them on speakerphone. "That it would be. By the way Matt, I am still waiting for you to create a program for us to go digital!"
Matt then realized that and took a breath. "Sorry Boden, I completely forgot about that; I've been meaning to e-mail my staff but…" Turning her head, Gabby put her hand on her husband's thigh. "Hey, take a breath baby and relax. We've been busy, and you needed to take it easy. It's okay, I promise." Matt agreed with Gabby as he wrapped his arm around her, before heading Andy bring his ball over to him; after which, he grabbed the ball thrower and smiled. "You want to run boy? Go run!" Matt then went ahead and threw the ball for Andy, who soon ran after it as fast as he could. Meanwhile, Gabby was impressed. "Impressive, you've been working on that arm of yours." Smirking, Matt agreed with Gabby as he wrapped his arm around her some more.
After which, he turned his head and leaned in so that he could kiss his beautiful wife softly; the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world, and the beautiful mother of his children.
Their phone call with Boden and Herrmann was interrupted maybe 5-10 minutes into it, because their boys needed them; as they started to cry out through the baby monitor, which meant that they were awake. So, that meant that they needed to be taken care of; and that was exactly what Gabby was in the midst of doing, while Matt finished up some supper for the four of them. "Yeah, you boys missed mommy playing with you like this." Gabby said, as she laid down on her side in her and Matt's bed; the proud mother taking some time to play with her sons and read to them, especially in Spanish. "Well, it's time for us to read in Spanish so that we can keep leaning some Spanish." And that was her plan, until Matt came in with some bottles of milk for the boys. "Oh, I thought…"
Turning her head, to look at her husband as he came in with the bottles of milk; as well as a plate of food on a tray, Gabby smiled. "Or we can do that. I didn't know that the food was ready." Matt agreed with Gabby. "I already made the salad and everything. I was just waiting for the steaks, and then I was going to wake you up." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, as that sounded perfect. "Well, I am not going to say that I don't love that idea." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before carrying Gabby's tray over to her. "Here, I put it on a tray. The cut up stuff is for the boys." Gabby agreed with Matt, figuring that was the case. "Yeah, I had a feeling that was the case." Matt snickered as he heard Gabby say that, before leaning over her and moving to kiss her softly.
Meanwhile, Gabby put her hand on his neck and started to take things nice and slow with the man she loves. "Best husband and father in the entire world." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before kissing her again. "Best wife and mother in the entire world." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, while running her finger down his cheekbone; after which, Matt got up and smiled as he looked at his family. "I'll be right back. But keep your hands off Matteo, I'm feeding my namesake." Gabby laughed as she heard Matt say that, while agreeing with her husband. "Oh baby, can you get me my pump? I'm going to make bottles after supper. It might have gone to the girls' nursery instead of our room here." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled at her. "Of course."
Agreeing with Matt, Gabby smiled as she watched him walk away so that he could get her everything else that she needs; and that would be her pump, as well as his plate of food so that he can feed Matteo some supper.
They were finally together as a family of six, with Matteo and Noah both sitting in Matt and Gabby's laps respectively; as they all enjoyed some family time and a supper. And right now, Matteo most certainly was loving the little bites of steak that he was getting, as it was cooked perfectly. "I have to say baby, you made the steaks perfect tonight." Turning his head, Matt smiled as he went to take his own bite. "I hate a feeling that you were going to say that, but I made it this way as I knew that the boys would like it. Wait, have you tasted the boys' steak? I made that one a little less well done so that they could chew on it more. It might help their teeth." Gabby agreed with Matt, because she has tried their steak. "It's really good too, and I am sure that they love it." Matt agreed with Gabby.
At the same time, he went to take a bite of his salad as he just held his little boy in bed; that was, until they both heard his mom come in. "I wondered where your voices were coming from." Turning his head, Matt smiled as he waived to his mother. "Hey mom. I made the steaks for supper. I put the leftovers in the fridge." Nancy smiled as she heard her son say that. "Well, I'm glad that you made leftovers. But I guess I am just a little surprised that you guys are eating in here." Gabby agreed with his mother-in-law as she said that. "We wanted to be comfortable, and this is where we're the most comfortable with our kids." Nancy agreed with Gabby as she said that, while also smiling as she wanted in so that she could take a look at the family. "So, what did you get up to mom?" Nancy smiled.
"I finally did something that I've been waiting to do since I moved here."
Matt was a bit confused as he heard his mom say that. "And what's that?" Nancy smiled. "I finally took a drive down the highway, saw some really nice views of the ocean." Gabby smiled das she heard Nancy say that, as that most certainly is something that she loved to do the first time she did it. "It was great." Nancy agreed with Gabby as she said that. "Oh, I most certainly plan on doing it again sometime in the future; we need to find some things to do as a family." Turning his head, Matt smiled as he looked at Gabby. "Maybe we can do it as a family of six sometime." Gabby shook her head. "I would rather stay home for a while, as I have missed our home." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before smiling as that sounds perfect. "Well, I think that we know what we're doing."
Gabby agreed with her loving husband as he said that, while also looking down at their two little boys. "Do you boys want to get changed into your PJs?" Nancy smiled as she heard Gabby say that. "Here, how about you let me take care of them? Do you want some time with the girls?" Turning her head, Gabby took a breath as she looked at the man she loves. "I think it's time for us to let them go home, because we need to get them to calm down and the girls are going to have to go to sleep soon; we also need to feed the girls and give them some baths." Matt agreed with Gabby. "Then how about my mom takes the boys? And we can start with the girls." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, smiling as that sounds absolutely perfect; and it's what they're going to do.
Giving the boys their goodnight hugs and kisses, Gabby smiled as she watched them be picked up by Matt off the bed; after which he looked at his boys and went to kiss them both. "Hey, you guys know that mommy and daddy love you. Right?" Both of the boys agreed as they cuddled up to their dad, while Matt made his way over to his mom. "Do you need some help?" Nancy shook her head. "No, I've done them before." Matt agreed with his mom, while giving the boys to her; after which, Nancy smiled as they are all really happy. "I am so glad that you're home. But tomorrow, I need to talk to you Matt." Matt was confused as he heard his mom say that. "Can I ask about what?" Nancy smiled. "I need to know what you want me to make you as a birthday supper." Matt smiled and agreed.
After which, he proceeded to hug her. "I love that idea mom." Nancy agreed with Matt as he said that, glad that he was up for her making him supper. "Can't wait. Now listen, you just take it easy with Gabby and the girls." Matt agreed with his mom as she said that, while watching as she left with the boys; after which, he closed the door behind them while turning around to look at the woman he loves. "How about I go run the girls a bath? Then I can come get each of them to watch them?" Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before smiling. "How about you bring me Bella first? I can feed her, as you give Sofia a bath; then I'll feed Sofia, while you give Bella a bath." Matt agreed with Gabby as he loves that idea. "Sounds good." Smiling, Matt made his way over to the cribs.
That way, he could get Bella for Gabby; that way, she can feed their little girl while he gives Princess Sofia a bath.
