A.N. — The last of six straight birthday characters to start the month ends here with by far the most obscure of the bunch. He made a fleeting appearance in the first movie, which means there's a lot for me to fill in here.
37. Nyikang
Medieval Europe did not have the market cornered on knights. Nyikang — with his metal mask, gauntleted arms and a sword nearly as long as he was tall — was there to disabuse any doubters of that notion.
His appearance didn't have anything to do with his quirk, but had everything to do with his heritage. Representing Sudan as a hero on the world stage was an honor, and Nyikang wore the burden with steadfast resoluteness.
Spirit Possession could be seen as a villain's power, but Nyikang gracefully educated skeptics about his country's history, and the role he was serving in it.
